If you are a fan of seafood and grill, The Orchard Cafe's new Chargrill Steak & Seafood Buffet is one to look out for. From now till 30 April 2023, enjoy 50% off for the 2nd diner.

Original Pricing
Lunch - $74/pax on weekdays, $84/pax on weekends
Dinner - $84/pax on weekdays, $98/pax on weekends
Do note that the menu differs for lunch and dinner.

The buffet offers an array of dishes, ranging from the popular Assorted Seafood on Ice and live stations to a selection of grills, hot and cold desserts, and more.

Seafood on Ice

I always start off buffets at the fresh seafood and sashimi corner. The fresh Seafood on Ice assortment includes red prawns, cherry clams, gong-gong, half-shell scallops, mussels and crabs. They were decently fresh, and our favourite was the prawns.

Cold Cuts & Artisan Cheese

At the Cold Cuts & Artisan Cheese stations, there were mortadella, beef bresaola, coppa ham and a seasonal cheese selection.

Marinated Appetisers

We liked how the different Marinated Appetisers were served in small portions for convenience. It also ensures you get a good mix of all the ingredients. The appetisers include Apple Wood Smoked Duck with Mango, Crab Salad and Spanish Potato Salad.

Chinese Roasts

For Chinese Roasts, there was Roast Duck, Hainanese Chicken, Roast Pork and Char Siu Pork.

I enjoyed the Signature Laksa quite a lot. The base was rich with a good kick of spice.

Charcoal Grill

The Charcoal Grill station was the most popular station of the night. The eye-catching selection includes Baked Oysters, Australian Beef Steak, Spanish Grilled Pork Belly, Otak-Otak Sausage of the Day and more.

Each diner is also entitled to half a grilled lobster, limited to dinner only.

Local, Chinese, Indian & Malay Cuisine

In other cooked selections, you will find dishes such as Carrot Cake, Indian Spiced Chicken, Roasted Vegetables, Naan Bread, Mutton Curry, etc.

Hot Dessert

If you have a sweet tooth, the huge dessert selection will be very exciting! We started with the rich Praline Chocolate Pudding, which was my dining companion's favourite dessert of the night. Other Hot Desserts include Apple and Raisin Crumble, Bread and Butter Pudding and Nutella Cannoli.

Assorted Nonya Kueh

The Assorted Nonya Kueh towers had Angku Kueh, Kueh Salat, Kueh Talam and Kueh Lapis.

Cold Dessert

There were shooter glasses, eclairs, various tarts and cakes for Cold Desserts. We enjoyed the Signature Mango Cake the most.

AquaMarine @ Marina Mandarin Singapore - Peranakan Delicacies In Conjunction With The Peranakan Festival 2019

In conjunction with The Peranakan Festival 2019, AquaMarine at Marina Mandarin Singapore has collaborated with Baba Chef Raymond Khoo of The Peranakan Restaurant to showcase a sumptuous feast of Peranakan Delicacies, exclusively from 7 June to 11 July 2019.

Kueh Pie Tee 3/5

Nyonya Crabmeat Popiah 3/5

Kick start the Peranakan feast with some delightful bites such as the Kueh Pie Tee and Nyonya Crabmeat Popiah. Have fun putting the different condiments into the kueh pie tee shell, and be your own chef for the day.

Ngoh Hiang 3.5/5

The golden brown Ngoh Hiang wrapped in crispy beancurd skin is packed with chunky pork pieces flavoured with five spice powder. There was water chestnut in it, giving it a nice crunch in texture.

Ayam Buah Keluak 3.8/5

A staple dish of Peranakan food is the Ayam Buah Keluak which you can also find it on the buffet spread. The chicken was cooked to tender, infused with the flavours from the nutty buah keluak and spices.

Nasi Ulam Istimewa 4.2/5

A must try is the Nasi Ulam Istimewa, which is also one of my favourites. Not commonly served in restaurants because of the laborious preparation work behind it. I was told the key to the dish is the freshly cut herbs and spices just before serving. You can't prepare them in advance.

Ikan Goreng Chuan Chuan 4.2/5

I have never tried Ikan Goreng Chuan Chuan and this a new Peranakan dish which I enjoyed. The fish is fried and then cooked with dark soy sauce, ginger, garlic and salted fermented soy beans. The star has to be the salted fermented soy beans which give the dish its characteristic.

Dry Laksa 2.5/5

Unfortunately, the Dry Laksa didn't impress me. It tasted like a plate of stir-fried Chinese noodles. I could not taste any laksa rempah at all.

Itek Sio 4.5/5

Not to be missed at the buffet spread is the Itek Sio, Nyonya braised duck with tamarind and coriander. The duck meat has been cooked to tender, infused with the flavourful braised sauce.

Udang Kuah Pedas Nanas 4/5

A very appetising dish is the Udang Kuah Pedas Nanas, fresh prawn cooked in pineapple coconut gravy. The tanginess from the gravy simply whetted up the appetite.

Whole Veal Shank Rendang 4.8/5

Another crowd favourite is the Whole Veal Shank Rendang. Infused with the aromatic rempah, the meat fell off the bone with ease. A must try.

Apom Bakwa Pisang Pengat 3.5/5

Do save some space for the Nonya Kuehs to wrap up the sumptuous feast. The colourful kuehs are not only pretty in presentation, but they are really yummy. I only wish I have another stomach to try them all. I do notice something unique at the dessert section is the Apom Bakwa Pisang Pengat. The soft, fluffy apom is made from glutinous rice flour and butterfly pea flowers, paired with caramelised banana.

Dive right into their Singapore Chilli Crab with Mantou. With huge chunks of fresh crab drenched in a sweet and spicy chilli sauce, don't forget to dip and soak the deep-fried mantou for maximum enjoyment.

Atrium @ Pan Pacific Singapore - Launches New Weekend High Tea Buffet With Peranakan And English Delights

Atrium at Pan Pacific Singapore launches a new Weekend Afternoon Tea Buffet, which takes places on every weekend from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, where it will feature a variety of English and Peranakan signatures, enhanced with Nyonya highlights dishing out at live stations helmed by Pan Pacific Singapore chefs.

Served on a 22-metres long bar, diners can literally take a trip down memory lane with the nostalgic Peranakan signatures, such as the Nyonya Kueh, and Heritage Coconut Scones with Kaya and Pineapple Jam.

Not to be missed are all-time favourites – the D-I-Y Kueh Pie Tee. Make your own Kueh Pie Tee by your crispy tart shells with cooked turnip, vegetables, egg yolk and fresh shrimps.

The Nyonya Chicken Curry with French Baguette has a thick coconuty aroma with flavourful chicken and potato chunks. Best paired with the crispy French Baguette. Diners can also pop by the live stations serving Popiah with Sweet Turnips and Condiments and the hearty Pacific Lobster Laksa, a recipe created by the resident Nyonya Chef Nancy Teo.

Apart from the classics, delve deeper into the Orient with the unique East-Meets-West dishes where the chefs infuse Peranakan ingredients and spices into dishes. Expect Peranakan Pork Sausage with Achar, Otah Quiche, Ayam Panggang Skewers to excite taste buds.

Those who prefer a quintessential English afternoon tea can look forward to a curated lineup of finger sandwiches such as the Organic Egg Mayonnaise English Cucumber Sandwich.

Indulge in savoury delights including Roasted Beef and Apple Remoulade on Ciabatta, Norwegian Salmon and Fruit Puree on Malt Toast and Foie Gras Terrine and Fig Marmalade on Brioche.

Mini Wagyu Beef Sliders

Not to be missed is the Mini Wagyu Beef Sliders, which feature mini-sized tender beef meat with melted cheese in between pillowy slider buns.

Round up the weekend high tea with a plethora of petite sweets such as the Blueberry Cheesecake and Strawberry Pistachio Shortcake. Starring the cake of the month (April) - Matcha Opera Entremet. The cake flavour changes every month to excite tastebuds, so you will be in for a surprise with something different served in the following month.

One of my favourites is the fragrant and fluffy Pandan Gula Melaka Chiffon Cake, which is made using fresh juice extracted from pandan leaves and authentic Gula Melaka from Malacca. Expect intricate and delicious desserts such as the Araguani Hazelnut Royaltine Entremet as well.

Among the various sweets available, the buffet line also features a series of colourful macarons and homemade Bonbons with different flavours. It incorporates the bright colours, intricate beading and rich embroidery to reflect the elements of the Peranakan culture.

The Nostalgic Weekend High Tea Buffet comes with two beverages of your choice. New additions to the beverage menu include two special cold brew teas – the Earl Grey infused with Orange and Cinnamon and Chamomile infused with Berries. For those who prefer the freshly brewed tea or coffee, pair the delectable canapés with a range of TWG teas or Lavazza coffee.
