Chatterbox Cafe @ Resorts World Sentosa - Chatterbox Opens Cafe Concept at Weave RWS with Signature Chicken Rice and Local Favourites

ChatterboxCafe14

Chatterbox at Hilton Orchard Singapore is well known for its "most expensive chicken rice in Singapore". Now, it has expanded with a new concept, Chatterbox Cafe, at the new Weave Mall in Resorts World Sentosa, offering its signature Mandarin Chicken Rice along with a range of local delicacies, at a slightly more affordable price point, around $2 to $3 cheaper than its flagship location.

ChatterboxCafe3
Grilled Satay 4/5

We kick-started the meal with the Grilled Satay ($15), available in both beef and chicken options. Grilled over binchotan, the skewers come with onions, cucumber, ketupat and a sweet-savoury peanut sauce. While the meat was well-marinated and tender, I would have preferred a deeper char for added smokiness. The highlight is undeniably the peanut sauce, which is nutty with a subtle tang from the addition of pineapple puree.

ChatterboxCafe10
Sweet and Sour Kurobuta Pork 4.2/5

The Sweet and Sour Kurobuta Pork ($22) is a classic redefined. Premium pork is lightly battered, deep-fried, then wok-tossed in a bright, balanced sauce. I appreciated how the glaze didn’t lean overly sweet or sour, allowing the flavour of the pork to shine through without being masked by heavy batter.

ChatterboxCafe7
Mandarin Chicken Rice 4.5/5

The star, of course, is the Mandarin Chicken Rice. While still premium-priced ($40 for half chicken, or $23 for an individual set), it remains one of the best-tasting plates of chicken rice you can find in Singapore. The rice is aromatic with chicken oil and pandan fragrance, while the poached chicken is juicy and succulent. The accompanying chilli sauce is fiery, zesty and ticks all the right boxes. It's a dish that justifies its reputation, even if the price may still divide opinions.

ChatterboxCafe12
Chilli Crab

Another iconic local favourite is the Chilli Crab ($168 per portion), served with eight golden fried mantous for mopping up the luscious sauce. The portion is generous, best shared between two to three diners.

ChatterboxCafe5
Stir Fried Prawn with Palm Sauce

The Stir Fried Prawn with Palm Sauce ($26) features large prawns glazed with caramelised palm sugar, delivering a bold, sweet-savoury depth with wok hei aroma.

ChatterboxCafe1
Beef Hor Fun

The Beef Hor Fun is a comforting rendition, where velvety smooth rice noodles are infused with wok hei and paired with tender beef slices. Everything is brought together in a luscious black bean gravy that carries both smokiness and umami.

ChatterboxCafe16
Sweet Platter 4/5

We ended on a sweet note with the Sweet Platter ($13), an assortment of Nyonya kuehs made fresh daily with recipes passed down through generations. These colourful treats not only satisfy the sweet tooth but also celebrate the rich culinary heritage of Singapore.

Overall, Chatterbox Cafe brings its signature Mandarin Chicken Rice and a curated selection of local favourites to Resorts World Sentosa at a more approachable price point. While still positioned as a premium offering compared to hawker fare, the quality of ingredients and execution make it a worthwhile option for those seeking elevated Singapore classics in a comfortable setting.

Homm Dessert @ Resorts World Sentosa - Opens Second Outlet at Weave RWS with Exclusive DIshes

HommExterior-2

HommExterior-3

Melbourne-born Thai dessert café Homm Dessert has expanded beyond its first outlet at Raffles City, now opening its second branch at the new Weave Mall in Resorts World Sentosa. Known for their creative takes on Thai-inspired sweets, the RWS outlet introduces not only its signature bingsu and drinks but also a range of exclusive savoury and sweet offerings.

HommRWS13
Cheese Top Thai Milk Tea, Cheese Top Taro Milk Tea 4.2/5

We started with the Cheese Top Thai Milk Tea ($6.80) and Cheese Top Taro Milk Tea ($7.80). Refreshing and not overly sweet, both drinks hit the spot on a hot day. The flavours were distinct and natural, without the artificial aftertaste sometimes found in flavoured teas.

HommRWS1
Mango Soba Salad 4/5

One of the savoury exclusives at the RWS branch is the Mango Soba Salad ($16.80). The vibrant combination of soba, ripe mango, soft-boiled egg, avocado, chilli, coriander, and red onion makes this a light yet satisfying option. Tossed in a spicy dressing of fish sauce, chilli and lime juice, it delivered a punchy, zesty kick that tied everything together.

HommRWS14

HommRWS19
Thai Chilli Crab Linguine 4/5

Another exclusive is the Thai Chilli Crab Linguine ($22.80). The pasta is generously coated in a robust Thai chilli crab sauce made with lemongrass, shallots, garlic, candlenut and bird's eye chilli. While flavour-packed and fragrant, it leaned more towards sweet than spicy. The two crispy soft-shell crabs served alongside added extra indulgence and texture to the dish.

HommRWS23
Mount Chendol 4/5

For desserts, the RWS-exclusive Mount Chendol ($18.80) is their creative spin on the beloved local treat. A fluffy coconut “snowflake ice” base is layered with jackfruit, pandan jelly, semi-smashed red beans, creamy corn, grass jelly and drizzles of gula melaka. It’s a fun, Thai-inspired take on chendol, or as it’s called there, “lod chong.”

HommRWS29

HommRWS33
Thai Milk Tea Avalanche Bingsu 4.5/5

Of course, no visit to Homm is complete without their signature Thai Milk Tea Avalanche Bingsu ($19.80). Using a blend of fragrant Thai tea leaves, the flavours are earthy yet smooth, never too tannic. The “avalanche” reveal is a playful touch, unveiling whipped cream cheese on Thai tea snowflake ice, gelato, and buttery sable crumbles. Served with Thai tea sauce, grass jelly, and condensed milk on the side, this is an indulgent dessert perfect for sharing.

Homm Dessert continues to impress with its creative interpretations of Thai classics. With the addition of exclusive savoury dishes at the new RWS outlet, it makes for a fun spot not just for desserts but also for a light meal.

Note: This is an invited tasting.

Bedrock Origin @ Oasia Resort Sentosa - New Sunday Bottomless Brunch, The Harvest Table

Kombu tomahawk-1

Bedrock Origin at Oasia Resort Sentosa has just launched a hearty new Sunday brunch that's well worth getting out of bed for. Aptly named "The Harvest Table – Land and Sea", this bottomless brunch offers a delightful communal dining experience, served in the peaceful, resort-style setting of Sentosa.

Held every Sunday from 12pm to 3.30pm (last order at 3pm), The Harvest Table – Land and Sea brunch (4.2/5) is priced at $78++ per person and offers unlimited servings of a multi-course feast. A good number of dishes are served à la minute, where each dish is cooked to order. This ensures that the food arrives hot and fresh, reducing the food waste common in buffet-style dining. It is a nice option for family gatherings, as children aged 6 and under dine for free, while those aged 7 to 12 enjoy the full experience for $28++.

Flatbread-2

Burrata salad and soup-3

Tiger prawn-1
Grilled Tiger Prawns

Begin your brunch experience with an enticing array of starters. Tear into warm, freshly baked Flatbread served with aromatic Roasted Garlic and Butter, alongside comforting options such as Bedrock's Smoked Tomato Soup and Truffle Mushroom Soup. Salad options include the Chargrilled Caesar Salad, Burrata with Tomato, Grilled Tiger Prawns and Jamon. I loved the creamy freshness of the burrata salad and had multiple servings!

Mashed potatoe-2
Truffle Mashed Potatoes

Complement your meal with a variety of tasty side dishes, served tableside from a roving trolley. Highlights include Bedrock's indulgent Mac 'N' Cheese, Silky Truffle Mashed Potatoes, and the flavourful Beef Fat Fried Rice. I would've happily had a few more bowls if I weren't saving stomach space for the mains.

Mushroom-1
Sauteed Mushrooms

Corn-1
Woodfire Grilled Chilli Corn

Brussel sprouts-2
Chargrilled Spicy Brussels Sprouts

Truffle fries-2
Black Truffle Fries

For lighter options, Sautéed Mushrooms, Chargrilled Spicy Brussels Sprouts, and Woodfire Grilled Chilli Corn are available. The Truffle Fries, served hot and crispy, were also great. While it's tempting to fill up on these yummy sides, be sure to save room for the meat and seafood dishes.

Kombu tomahawk-1
Kombu Cured Tomahawk

Pork rack-2

Spatchcock chicken-1
Roasted Spatchcock Chicken

The Kombu-cured Tomahawk Steak leads the main course selection, though it might be too rare for some. Other meat options include a slow-cooked Lamb Shoulder, a French Black Pork Rack, and Roasted Spatchcock Chicken, which are all decent, hearty choices. Providing a few more sauces or hot gravy to go with the meat would have made it even better!

Pan fried barramundi-4
Pan-fried Barramundi Fillet

Fish collar-2

Clams-2
Clams with White Wine

On the seafood side, there’s Pan-fried Barramundi Fillet, Deep-fried Fish Collar, and the chef’s selection, which during my visit featured a bowl of fresh Clams in White Wine Sauce. I enjoyed all three, but the fish collar stood out the most, with its crispy skin and tender, soft flesh inside.

Crab linguine-2
Chilli Crab Linguine

There are also two pasta options - Carbonara and Chilli Crab Linguine. I tried the chilli crab linguine, but found the sauce lacking. There are also some teething issues with the service — my orders were missed a few times, and we had to gently remind the staff. Fortunately, the long brunch hours meant there was no need to rush.

Apple crumble-1
Apple Crumble

We wrapped our brunch on a sweet note with Bedrock's signature Apple Crumble, served warm and perfectly spiced, complemented by a scoop of ice cream. It's sure to be a hit with both adults and children alike.

Lemon cake-1
Lemon Cake

A cake trolley adds a charming touch, offering a selection of favourites like Chocolate, Banana, Lemon, and Carrot Cake. Unfortunately, the chocolate cake ran out early in the service, so I didn't try it. However, the lemon and carrot cake I tried was not bad.

For drinks, free-flow alcohol is available for just $28++. The offerings include Carlsberg Smooth Draught, Sapporo Premium, and classic cocktails like Mimosa and Bellini. Wine enthusiasts can enjoy Riondo Sparkling Rosé and selections from Casas del Toqui Single Estate: a Sauvignon Blanc and a Merlot.

The non-alcoholic beverage selection is priced at $10++. It offers a variety of refreshing options, such as Cranberry Juice, Pink Grapefruit Juice, Orange Juice, Coke, Coke Zero, Root Beer, Sprite, and Ginger Ale.

Banana cake-2

Overall, The Harvest Table — Land and Sea was a satisfying and relaxed weekend brunch experience. The dishes were generally well-executed, and it is best enjoyed with a group so that you can try everything on the menu. Enjoy 10% off your bill when you pay with Mastercard®, applicable to the bottomless brunch menu only, not the drinks packages.

Kwee Zeen @ Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort - Limited-Time Hawker Buffet On Magnifique Hawker Nights

DSC07333

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa has collaborated with some of the best and well-loved local hawkers and brands to create a one-stop destination for the best local food across Singapore. In celebration of National Day, the Hawker buffet ($74++/pax) runs from 5 to 9 August 2022, featuring free-flow food from 15 hawkers, including:

1) Ah Ma Lor Mee
2) Jian Bo Shui Kueh
3) Legendary Bak Kut Teh
4) Janggut Laksa
5) Lee Wee & Brothers
6) Hock Lian Huat
7) Nam Kee Chicken Rice
8) Li Xin Teochew Fishball Noodles
9) Kim Choo Kueh Chang
10) Old Amoy Chendol
11) Hong Seng Curry Rice
12) Mr Popiah
13) Rochor Original Beancurd
14) Du Du Cooked Food
15) Old Original Serangoon Hokkien Mee

While the Taste of Singapore will end on 9 August 2022, the stalls included in the hotel's Magnifique Hawker Nights Buffet line-up are still operating every Friday and Saturday from 12 August.

DSC07326

Each hawker stall has its own booth, and dishes are assembled on-site by the hotel's chefs with ingredients catered from respective hawker stalls. The booths span from the indoors to the outdoor area of Kwee Zeen restaurant.

DSC07383

We kickstart the buffet with a piping hot bowl of goodness from Legendary Bak kut Teh. The pork ribs are soft and fork tender, stewed in a robust broth of fragrant herbs and spices.

DSC07360

Next, we moved on to the Traditional Hainanese Curry Rice from Hong Seng Curry Rice. Messy but delicious, we piled the plate with the quintessential Pork Chop, Boneless Curry Chicken, Pork Belly and Cabbage before topping off everything with thick and luscious curry sauce.

DSC07368

One of my favourites is the laksa from Janggut Laksa. The trademark of the Original Katong Laksa was that the noodles were cut short and eaten with a spoon for the sake of convenience. As for the laksa broth, it was comforting, flavourful and light, even though it is not too spicy.

DSC07372

The Lor Mee from Ah Ma Lor Mee was also satisfying, with a flavourful and viscous gravy packed with a good amount of lor bak, white fish flakes, egg and fried meatball.

DSC07375

We had a bowl of dry meepok noodles from Li Xin Teochew Fishball Noodles. It is a comforting bowl of noodles with a springy texture. You can opt for the soup version as well.

DSC07354

The Nasi Lemak from Lee Wee & Brothers had all the quintessential ingredients fried chicken wings, otah, roasted peanuts, cucumber slices, ikan bilis and sambal chilli.

DSC07353

DSC07364

For beverages, we had the soya bean milk from Rochor Original Beancurd. It was cold, refreshing, and as good as I remembered it to be. While you are there, grab some of their traditional beancurd as well.

DSC07335

DSC07365

The buffet also includes other local delights such as the satay and chilli crab with mantou.

DSC07358

Dive into favourites such as the Sambal Squid, Braised Pork Knuckle, and Chef Nelson's rendition of the tender beef cheek rendang.

DSC07344

There is also small seafood on ice selection, including prawns, clams, black, gong gong, mussels, scallops, and yabby.

DSC07350

DSC07388

End your meal on a sweet note with a wide array of traditional Nyonya kuehs and desserts, such as the Kueh Lapis, Rainbow kueh and ondeh ondeh.

DSC07386

Not to be missed is the chendol from Old Amoy Chendol, which comes with shaved ice, red beans, pandan jelly, coconut milk and gula melaka. As it was a DIY station, we topped off our bowl with extra coconut milk, which has a strong taste but is not too overpowering, and gula melaka, which was fragrant and rich.

DSC07332

While $74++ may be pretty steep price to pay for free-flow hawker food, it is a great solution to sample the best of Singapore's hawker culture in one place without having the hassle of travelling to the outlets one by one. Moreover, with the hotel's aim to give featured hawkers a "platform to earn a sustained income with a long-term partnership", which allowed the hawker buffet to run from 12 August to the end of the year, we absolutely love the cause and support for our local hawker heroes!
