HighHouse @ One Raffles Place - Affordable New Set Lunch Menu Starting from $48++ Per Person, Available Till 15 June

Perched on Level 62 of One Raffles Place, HighHouse offers a set lunch menu starting from $48++ per person for two courses. The new menu, crafted in collaboration with Chef Daniele Sperindio of Art di Daniele Sperindio, is available for a limited time until 15 June. With an impressive skyline view and a well-curated selection of hot and cold appetisers, mains, and desserts, HighHouse is the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch or a business meeting. We tried the three-course set ($58++ per person) to experience a little bit of everything – and it certainly delivered.

We started our lunch with a Sticky Mango Highball ($20) — we couldn't resist, especially with the tempting cocktail menu and that spectacular view. Made with Chalong Bay Thai Agricole, Mango Sticky Rice Cordial, and Bright Citrus, the alcohol level was generous. However, we found it lacking the distinct sticky mango element that the name promised.

For appetisers, we chose one cold and one hot dish. The first is the cold appetiser: Summer in Seoul, which features chilled somen noodles, aged watermelon, and geranium leaf in a tomato broth. It was a refreshing start to the meal, and the geranium leaf reminded us of a pesto-like flavour, giving it a surprisingly Italian twist. The aged watermelon also added an interesting, almost meaty texture to the dish.

Our hot appetiser was the Saikyo Miso Foie Gras, which was the highlight of the meal. The sweet corn velouté was creamy without being cloying, while the crispy Sichuan corn and pork pancetta added delightful texture and flavour. The foie gras itself, marinated in miso, was elevated beautifully, enhancing its rich flavour without overpowering the dish. We couldn't get enough of this one.

12-Hour Slow Cooked Sakura Pork Belly 3.8/5

Moving on to mains, we had the 12-Hour Slow Cooked Sakura Pork Belly. It came with a strong char flavour and was paired with a coffee balsamic sauce that leaned quite sweet. It reminded us of Hong Kong-style char siew, though we wished the pork belly could have been a touch more tender and the sauce slightly less sweet. On the side, there are Brussels sprouts, brown butter carrot sauce (very delicious) and a crispy piece of coconut sticky rice, which we found the rice a little too hard for our liking.

Spanish Octopus Reginette Pasta 3.8/5

The other main was the Spanish Octopus Reginette Pasta, featuring fork-tender chunks of octopus tossed in a lobster bisque reduction. The addition of kimchi added a nice crunch from the cabbage, but overall, the dish leaned on the salty side, possibly due to the furikake topping. A little less salt would have made this dish perfect.

Coconut & Cashew Tart 1

For dessert, we went with the recommended Matcha Gateau and Coconut & Cashew Tart. The Matcha Gateau was delightful: a soft Sencha Jaconde Sponge layered with a high-quality Matcha Ganache. The pairing with Grapefruit Compote added a refreshing citrus kick that balanced the richness nicely.

However, the Coconut & Cashew Tart truly stole the show. Its buttery tart shell was filled with Almond Cream, topped with a Sea Salt Cashew Mousseline, and paired with roasty Barley Tea Ice Cream. This was easily our top pick for dessert.

Whether you're looking to impress clients or simply enjoy a relaxed meal with breathtaking views, HighHouse ticks all the boxes. This limited-time lunch menu, thoughtfully crafted with Chef Daniele Sperindio, is available until 15 June — making it the perfect reason to plan a visit soon. With its beautiful setting and well-executed dishes, HighHouse promises an elevated and memorable dining experience. Be sure to reserve early if you want one of the coveted window seats.

Basilico @ Conrad Singapore Orchard - La Cucina Storica Featuring Traditional Recipes and Regional Specialties from Italy's Former Kingdoms

Basilico at Conrad Singapore Orchard presents La Cucina Storica — an evolving buffet experience that pays tribute to the rich culinary roots of Italy's former kingdoms. Each edition of La Cucina Storica explores a different chapter of Italy's history, featuring traditional recipes and regional specialities. Available until 31 May 2025, the latest edition spotlights the Kingdom of Sardegna, showcasing the unique flavours of Sardegna, Liguria, Piemonte, and Val d'Aosta — regions once ruled by the House of Savoy. The buffet brings together a mouthwatering mix of classic dishes highlighting the kingdom's coastal bounty, countryside traditions, and diverse influences. Expect live stations, artisanal cheeses, and a curated selection of Italian wines and cocktails.

Cheese Room

One of the key highlights is access to Basilico’s iconic Cheese Room, home to one of the most extensive cheese collections I’ve come across. Here, you’ll find a seasonal selection of over 40 artisanal Italian cheeses, complemented by truffle honey, nuts, assorted dried fruits, Mostarda Cremona (syrup-poached fruit), Pecorino Sardo, Robiola di Roccaverano, and a Mirto di Sardegna reduction.

Uova alla Piemontese

Tucked away inside the Cheese Room is an easily missed gem — the Egg Station, offering Uova alla Piemontese. Think of it as a luxurious Italian-style shakshuka: eggs gently cooked in a bold, flavourful sauce made with roasted bell peppers, pancetta, and San Marzano tomatoes.

Fresh Cheese Selection

The Antipasti Station serves up an assortment of cold cuts including 24-month Parma ham, salame, pistachio mortadella, and Bresaola della Valle d'Aosta. A standout for me was the Fresh Cheese Selection, which featured an incredible range of burrata — from the classic to infused (truffle, pesto alla Genovese, Italian heirloom tomato) and smoked versions. There's also cow and buffalo mozzarella such as Ciambella and Bocconcini.

Carving Station

The Carving Station is another crowd-pleaser, with a slow-roasted Porceddu (Sardinian-style suckling pig). Other roasts include grass-fed ribeye, grilled seabass, Australian lamb leg, and roasted chicken thighs.

Pasta & Risotto Station

Over at the Pasta & Risotto Station, homestyle comfort dishes take the spotlight. I particularly enjoyed the hand-rolled Trofie Pasta with cod ragù, the rich and decadent Wagyu Beef Lasagna, and the Wild Mushroom Risotto, which was simple yet satisfying.

Pizza section

The Pizza Section impressed as well, with dough that was exceptionally well done. The Black Truffle Focaccia was rich and indulgent with mascarpone, Robiola Tre Latti, and provolone cheese, while the Arbanella anchovies pizza delivered a rustic punch with anchovies, capers, chives, and Fior di Latte cheese.

Cold Seafood Station

Seafood lovers will appreciate the Cold Seafood Station, which is well-stocked with live oysters, poached Boston lobster, tiger prawns, queen scallops, Taranto’s black mussels, and clams.

Vermouth and Prosecco zabaione

To round off the meal, desserts include a delightful spread of cakes, tarts, gelato, and sorbetto. The mini rum baba was delicious. Don't miss the live Zabaione Station, where Vermouth and Prosecco zabaione are freshly whipped and served with fresh berries.

The La Cucina Storica Weekend Brunch is available every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 3pm. It costs $128++ per adult and $64++ per child (6–12 years old). Free-flow beverage packages featuring Ferrari sparkling wine, Italian wines, and beers are available from $80++ per person.

Maggie's @ Keong Saik Road - The Rebellious Sister of Marcy that Serves Up Boundary-Pushing Chinese Cuisine

Meet Maggie'sMarcy's mei mei, a.k.a. darling little sister. If Marcy's is all elegance and polish, Maggie's is the rebellious one who rolls up her sleeves, throws caution to the wind, and serves up a daring, boundary-pushing adventure for your taste buds.

Maggie's blends the old with the new, East with West, bold with refined. An "Almost Chinese" bistro that plays by no one's rules, Maggie's celebrates flavour that doesn't bow to tradition. Instead, it dances on the edge, leading a high-energy, flavour revolution that leaves you craving more. Led by Chef Ryan Nile Choo, the menu at Maggie's is kept concise, meant to be enjoyed in a sharing style, and will be refreshed every quarter. The current iteration of the menu is rather adventurous, featuring dishes such as cod milt, quail, and lamb tartare.

First, the space is absolutely stunning. The low ceilings and vibey red lighting set the perfect mood, blending vintage 'grandma chic' with a touch of '70s glamour. It's a space that feels both nostalgic and effortlessly cool, like stepping into a time capsule where vintage elegance meets modern edge. There are lots of little thoughtful details in the décor, so take the time to soak it all in.

"Golden Gun" Cigars 4.5/5

The first dish we tried was the "Golden Gun" Cigars ($18 for 2 pc). These feature bigeye tuna crudo mixed with olive leaves (kana chai) and wrapped in a crispy, golden skin like a spring roll. It's finished with a dusting of tomato powder and served on a bed of crème fraiche and spring onions. I loved how the olive leaves added a unique subtle, earthy note to the dish.

Golden Prawn Croque-Madame 4.8/5

Next up was the Golden Prawn Croque-Madame ($25), and wow, what an excellent flavour combination! A Tiger Prawn "Mojo" prawn paste infused with Sichuan green peppercorns for that signature mala kick is sandwiched between two thin, crispy slices of homemade focaccia. There's also a fried egg on top, and it's all tied together with a refreshing passionfruit hollandaise that adds a burst of tangy creaminess to balance out the slight mala heat.

Fufu e Pepe 4.2/5

The Fufu e Pepe ($26) was the polarising dish of the evening. Inspired by the classic Caccio e Pepe, hand-pulled La Mian is coated with a sauce made with fermented bean curd and tossed with guanciale pecorino and Jinhua ham. The flavours are deep and intense, with the Jinhua ham adding a smoky richness as well. Some might consider this dish way too pungent to enjoy. However, for those who relish adventurous, complex tastes, this is a dish worth trying.

Roasted Pomfret 4.2/5

The Roasted Pomfret ($36 half, $58 whole) can be ordered as a half or full portion and is cooked with green peppercorn salsa verde and extra virgin olive oil. The fish is fresh and delicious, with a subtle mala spiciness that adds an additional layer of flavour. However, do note that the fish isn't fully de-boned, and the dim lighting can make it tricky to navigate, so take your time to work your way through this dish.

Maggie’s 8 Treasures 4/5

For dessert, we enjoyed Maggie's 8 Treasures ($16), a combination of glutinous rice, red date gelato, red bean cloud, longans, jujubes, and peanut brittle. I liked the date ice cream and peanut brittle, but I found the glutinous rice element too heavy for dessert; it felt like a lot to digest at the end of the meal.

Maggie's is a promising newcomer to Keong Saik Road. It offers diners an innovative and exciting experience paired with a beautifully designed ambience. It's very suitable for a date or girl's night out. As they continue to refresh the menu for future runs, I hope they keep some of the standout dishes from this iteration, like the prawn croque madame, which is unforgettable!

The Line @ Shangri-La Singapore - An Egg-traordinary Spring Feast Buffet

The Line at Shangri-La Singapore presents an Egg-traordinary Spring Feast Buffet from 3 to 27 April 2025. Expect an impressive spread that spans Western, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Southeast Asian cuisines, with unlimited servings of premium seafood such as Boston Lobster and Snow Crab.

Cold Selection and Charcuterie Stations

The Cold Selection and Charcuterie Stations feature a well-curated selection of cheeses, cold cuts, and wholesome salads. One of my personal favourites was the Roasted Kabayaki Salmon Salad with Buckwheat Soba Noodles — light, flavourful, and satisfying.

Mushroom-Stuffed Chicken Roulade

The Western Station had an outstanding lineup. The Creamy Salted Egg Pasta with Fried Prawn Balls was a straightforward crowd-pleaser, while the Mushroom-Stuffed Chicken Roulade was elevated with a rich mushroom brown sauce.

The Miso-Glazed Barramundi with Creamed Leek stood out with its succulent texture and beautiful balance of umami, sweetness, and savoury notes — definitely worth returning for seconds.

Claypot Seafood Congee

Live stations are scattered throughout the buffet line, including comforting favourites such as Popiah, Claypot Seafood Congee and Singapore Laksa, cooked à la minute.

Tandoori Live Station, Satay Station

The Indian selection was equally thoughtful. It featured a Tandoori Live Station serving juicy Tandoori Chicken Thighs and a popular Satay Station offering Chicken Satay with traditional accompaniments.

Desserts were a visual and flavourful delight, with dainty mini tartlets, brownies and crisp Choux Craquelin.

Waffle with Ice Creams

One of the dessert highlights was the Live Mochi Waffle Station. The waffles were crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle. They were served with a variety of condiments, though I found they were best enjoyed with two scoops of ice cream for the ultimate hot-and-cold combo.

The promotion will run from 3 April to 27 April 2025, available Thursday through Sunday (excluding 20 April). Our Festive Lunch and Dinner Buffet starts from $68++ per adult for lunch and $118++ per adult for dinner. On 20 April, there will be a special Easter Sunday Brunch from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, starting from $148++ per adult.
