Town Restaurant @ The Fullerton Hotel Singapore - The New Sunday Brunch Experience

TownRestaurant26

The Sunday Brunch at Town Restaurant runs an amazing spread of international cuisine from 12pm to 3pm on Sundays. It is priced at $120++ per adult (free flow juices and soft drinks) or $173++ for free flow house pour wine, beer, brut champagne, bloody mary and others.

TownRestaurant1
Chilled Seafood Galore

We were first served with the Chilled Seafood Galore upon being seated - an amazing Crustacean spread of spanner crab, half Maine lobster, tiger prawns, half-shelled scallop and snow crab leg.

TownRestaurant2
Sashimi & Maki Roll Platter

It is followed by the Sashimi & Maki Roll platter for your fill of the Japanese cuisine. The platter includes fresh cuts of salmon, hamachi, octopus and yellowfin sashimi, the California maki, and different sushi available, such as the Hamachi, Salmon, Unagi, Octopus, Yellow Fin Tuna sushi.

TownRestaurant4
Butcher Block Charcuterie

We also ordered the Butcher Block Charcuterie of Parma Ham, Duck Rillettes, Saucisson, and Wagyu Bresaola Pizza Bread.

TownRestaurant9
Agemono

We particularly enjoyed the Agemono. The potato croquette is crisp on the outside with a thin fried batter layer and incredibly fluffy inside. Alongside with a crispy breaded ebi, cheese net ball, and a side of Japanese mayonnaise.

TownRestaurant7
Trio Meat Platter

Moving on to the Asian delights, we had the trio meat platter of roasted duck, crispy crackling pork belly, and honey-glazed char siew that was succulent and tender.

TownRestaurant5
Lan Zhou Hand Pulled La Mian Noodles

TownRestaurant6
Town’s Signature Tender-Poached Chicken Rice

Not to be missed is their selection of local favourites. The Lan Zhou Hand Pulled La Mian Noodles comes in a flavourful rich broth, with tender-braised wagyu beef cheek, Szechuan chilli, and scallion oil. We also enjoyed the Town’s Signature Tender-Poached Chicken Rice with housemade chilli and ginger.

TownRestaurant10
6-Hour Braised Australian Lamb Shank

Some of my favourite western classics from the grill include the 6-Hour Braised Australian Lamb Shank paired with red wine sauce. Each dish is freshly prepared upon order. The slow cooking turned the tough cut of lamb into the softest and most fork-tender meat, packed with rich flavours from the braising.

TownRestaurant11
Dessert PLatter

We ended the meal on a sweet note with their desserts platter, which comes in a theatrical presentation of dry ice. A gorgeous treats lined up on display, including assorted macaron, Fullerton fudge cake, rose lychee raspberry, coconut kaya mango-passion trifle, and vanilla strawberry chiffon shortcake. From the desserts menu, there is also an ice cream platter and sliced tropical fruits.

Laifaba @ Prestige Centre - New Location, Expanded Menu With Even Tastier Wanton Mee

LaiFaBar18

Laifaba first opened its door at Scarlet hotel and has made a name for itself in offering superb Wanton Mee. It has now relocated to Prestige Centre at Bukit Batok with an expanded menu that comprises rice and other roast meats.

LaiFaBar2

Though located in an industrial area, the interior was made very charming, adorned with retro homewares, posters, a table fan and a radio that work!

LaiFaBar6
Signature Char Siew Wanton Mee 4.5/5

When I first tried Laifaba last year, its Char Siew and Crispy Pork left a deep impression. I have a newfound liking for its Signature Char Siew Wanton Mee ($5.00 Small) this time round. Working closely with suppliers, both the wanton skin and noodle are made with improved recipes. One very noticeable difference is the reduction in alkaline, and I very much prefer this lighter and tastier version. Even the wanton seemed much juicer. I recommend topping up $2 to upgrade the regular char siew to its signature Bu Jian Tian Char Siew. Given the amount of fats in there, I felt the meat had been roasted with much precision to attain the beautiful caramelisation on the exterior and rendering just enough fats for flavours while keeping the meat portion tender.

LaiFaBar12
Meat Platter 4/5

Adding two more roast meats into their menu, we had a platter of Soy Sauce Chicken, Roast Duck and Crispy Roasted Pork ($16 Small). The Soy Sauce Chicken was commendable. The meat was very tender, and the skin was flavourful without being too sweet. The pork was still as good as I remember how it was to be with its succulent meat and crackling skin. The Roast Duck paled a little in comparison but was decent. This portion is good for two people as rice or noodles are available as add-ons.

LaiFaBar14
Shrimp Dumpling Soup (tasting portion) 4.5/5

I like the soup as well. The dry wanton mee does come with a small bowl of soup but try the Shrimp Dumpling Soup ($8) that comes with four large and juicy shrimp dumplings. The soup had a good depth of sweetness and umami flavour, which surpassed most that I had tried so far. I had a go at its Fried Shrimp Dumplings ($8) too, but they weren't as impressive. The skin turned quite soggy and greasy after a while.

LaiFaBar7

Other elements that might draw you back to Laifaba are perhaps the various chilli concoction for the different dishes. There is a special orangey chilli sauce that is very fiery, a red sauce for a regular spicy dry noodle dish, and a refreshing and tangy chilli paste for the roast meats.

Town Restaurant @ The Fullerton Hotel Singapore - Experience Local & International Cuisine Sunday Brunch

TownRestaurant2

Sit back, relax and toast to a Sunday brunch at Town Restaurant, situated in The Fullerton Hotel. Guests get to enjoy delicious brunch staples like Egg Benedict alongside irresistible favourites such as Chilled Maine Lobsters and Scallops, Grilled Angus Striploin, Slow-Roasted Lamb Leg scented with Rosemary and Garlic, and more.

With the current ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, The Fullerton Hotel has set up rigorous cleanliness practices and safe distancing measures at their restaurants to ensure that diners can experience an enhanced level of protection. Guests will experience a whole new different way of enjoying buffets in these unprecedented times, as ala-carte dishes can only be ordered from the menu, which will then be freshly prepared by the chefs upon order and delivered to your table. But of course, dishes will be free-flow for the duration of the buffet!

TownRestaurant4
Chilled Seafood Delight 4/5

First, we kickstart the buffet with some crustacean delights from the starters menu. The Chilled Seafood Delight comprises a half Maine lobster, tiger prawns, half-shell scallops, snow crab legs and Venus clams.

TownRestaurant9
Omakase Makimono 3.8/5

We had the Omakase Makimono - with a selection of maki rolls including the lobster & avocado salad maki roll, spicy tempura ebi roll and California maki, as well as the selection of sushi which consists of Hamachi, Norwegian salmon, octopus and yellowfin tuna. While fresh Hamachi, Norwegian salmon, yellowfin tuna is served on the sashimi platter for the seafood lovers.

TownRestaurant6
Butcher Block Charcuterie 3.8/5

Moving on to the Butcher Block Charcuterie, it is a must-order for the cheese lovers for the mini platter of Parma ham, duck rillettes, saucisson, bresaola with freshly baked olive & rosemary focaccia.

TownRestaurant15
Lan Zhou Hand Pulled La Mian Noodles 4.2/5

TownRestaurant10
Traditional Malay-Style Grilled Chicken & Beef Satays 4/5

Not to be missed is the selection of their local favourites. The Lan Zhou Hand Pulled La Mian Noodles comes in a flavourful rich broth, with tender-braised wagyu beef cheek, Szechuan chilli, and scallion oil. We also had the Traditional Malay-Style Grilled Chicken & Beef Satays with Ketupat and chunky peanut sauce which adds a rich nutty flavour to the satays.

TownRestaurant19
Dim Sum Selection 3.8/5

From the dim sum selection, they have the Steamed Crystal Prawn Dumplings, Chicken Siew Mai, and the Hong King-Style Char Siew Pau.

TownRestaurant12
BBQ Hong Kong Roasts 4.2/5

From the BBQ Hong Kong Roasts selection, we had the Five-spiced Roasted Duck, Crispy Crackling Pork Belly, and Honey Glazed Char Siew. The tender roast meats are best paired with the Town Signature Tender-Poached Chicken Rice with house-made chilli and ginger.

TownRestaurant20
Spaghetti Vongole with White Wine Fresh Clams and Chilli 3.8/5

For something substantial, opt for their meats from the grill, as well as pasta and pizza from the Italian corner. The Italian classic of Spaghetti Vongole with White Wine Fresh Clams and Chilli was quite balanced with a light briny, garlicky aroma, and a subtle tinge of chilli.

TownRestaurant22
Grilled Angus Striploin 4.2/5

From the grill station, the Grilled Angus Striploin was one of my favourite dishes, which was cooked to perfect medium-rare doneness, and the addition of mousseline potato, smoked mustard and au just elevated the dish. Another highlight is the potato, which is made using premium french butter and sea salt for its superb smooth, buttery tones. We ordered additional Potato Mousseline, Broccoli Almondine, Roasted Champigon Mushrooms with thyme, and Signature Truffle Fries with Parmesan to go along with the steak as well.

TownRestaurant17

Because breakfast is an all-day luxury, go for their organic eggs done in 3 different ways, and accompanied with a choice of sides such as mini rosti, crispy bacon and chicken chipolata.

TownRestaurant23
Graham Cracker Key Lime Tart, Mango Pana Cotta & Exotic Macaroon Platter 4/5

We ended the meal on a sweet note with their Graham Cracker Key Lime Tart, Mango Pana Cotta & Exotic Macaroon Platter. Of the three, we fancied the Mango Pana Cotta the most for its lightly sweet but not cloying fruity flavours, as well as its soft and smooth texture. From the dessert menu, there is also an assortment of Nyonya Kueh, Classic Crème Brulee, selection of tropical fruits, cheese platter, and ice cream & sorbet available as well.

Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen @ Great World - Reopens With A New Look And Refreshed Menu

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen16

Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen has finally reopened at Great World after undergoing an extensive renovation work. With the reopening, the concept under the Crystal Jade Group has also unveiled a new brand name and refreshed logo, together with a new fresh look and refreshed menu. The refreshed menu will be available from 30 March 2020 at the Great World outlet and progressively roll out at other Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen outlets across the island by mid-April.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen2
Chilled Marinated Turnip with Plum 4.2/5

At first glance, the Chilled Marinated Turnip with Plum ($5.30) looks like watermelon, but they are actually turnip steeped overnight in a Roselle, sour plum and dried orange peel mixture. The result is refreshing, sweet and sour with a crunchy texture.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen4
Deep-fried Marinated Egg Coated with Prawn Paste 4.2/5

Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen will be serving dim sum on their menu too. Chef Foo has introduced new moreish spin of the traditional dim sum. We managed to try a couple of them such as the Deep-fried Marinated Egg Coated with Prawn Paste ($5.80), Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Stem Chives ($6.30 for 3pcs) and Pan-fried Pumpkin and Yam Cake ($5.30 for 3pcs).

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen3
Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Stem Chives 4.2/5

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen6

Pan-fried Pumpkin and Yam Cake 4.2/5

I enjoyed all the three new dim sum creations. The deep-fried marinated egg coated with prawn paste is like an Asian style scotch egg which I thought is even better than it. I love green chives, and hence the steamed prawn dumpling with stem chives itself is already a winner for me. For a fragrant and textural enjoyment, the pan-fried pumpkin and yam cake will delight one with the alternating layers of yam strips and mashed pumpkin.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen9
Pork Lardon Rice 4.5/5

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen7
Scallion Ginger Rice 4.5/5

Bored of just plain white rice? Now Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen offers two fragrant rice options on the menu. You can choose from either Pork Lardon Rice ($2.80 per pax) which comes with a savoury sauce and crispy lard bits or Scallion Ginger Rice ($2.80 per pax) crowned with aromatic fried chopped ginger and spring onion mixture. Both are really tasty and delicious. It has definitely elevated the appreciation of a plate of plain white rice.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen17
Sauteed Chinese Spinach with Prawn Paste and Fish Roe 4/5

For diners looking for a complete meal, there are also new a la carte dishes from the new menu. The Sauteed Chinese Spinach with Prawn Paste and Fish Roe ($16.80) comes with popping surprises from the fish roes, giving the greens an element of fun and texture contrast. However, the prawn paste flavour was not distinctly, it may disappoint those looking forward to the strong prawny flavour.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen15
Crispy-fried Homemade Organic Tofu with Preserved Vegetables and Prawn 4.5/5

A simple dish but elegantly presented is the Crispy-fried Homemade Organic Tofu with Preserved Vegetables and Prawn ($16.80). The soft and silky tofu is homemade using organic soy milk and eggs. It is then deep-fried and crowned with flavourful stir-fry prawns, chai poh and dried shrimp.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen11
Two-Combination Roasted Meat Platter

We also had the Two-Combination Roasted Meat Platter ($22.80) which comprised of roasted duck and signature port belly (+$3). The roasted duck is fat and tender, with a delectable layer of crispy skin. Not to be missed is the signature pork belly that has a good ratio of lean meat and fat, with a delicate balance of sweetness and an exterior crispy char.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen13
Poached 'Long Hu' Garoupa Fillet with 'Yunan' Ham in Thick Soup 4.5/5

Instead of double-boiled soup, let me introduce you to the Poached 'Long Hu' Garoupa Fillet 'Yunan' Ham in Thick Soup ($30.80) which is just as good. The 'Long Hu' garoupa fillet is poached in a silky and milky-white pork bone soup, fortified with Yunnan ham. One can also find other ingredients such as enoki mushrooms, black fungus, bamboo pith, ginger, garlic and wolfberries in the robust soup.

CrystalJadeHongKongKitchen19
Abalone and Shredded Kampung Chicken with Conpoy Congee 4.2/5

Last but not least, we wrapped up our dinner with the Abalone and Shredded Kampung Chicken with Conpoy Congee ($28.80) served in claypot. The portion is good for 2 to 3 person. Flavourful, and velvety-smooth, this is both comforting and satisfying. No additional seasoning is needed.
