Fireplace by Bedrock @ One Holland Village - Brand New Wood-fired Grill Concept by Bedrock

Fireplace2

Fireplace by Bedrock, nestled in the vibrant enclave of One Holland Village, emerges as a captivating extension of the renowned Bedrock brand. Inheriting the DNA of its popular steakhouse lineage, Fireplace beckons diners with a welcoming warmth and convivial ambience. The restaurant masterfully utilises fire to enhance each ingredient's innate rustic flavours, crafting a chic yet relaxed atmosphere distinct from its sister establishments.

Fireplace8
Watermelon Salad 4/5

Our dinner commenced with the Watermelon Salad ($14), a delightful ensemble of fresh watermelon cubes, red onions, cucumbers, toasted pine nuts, feta cheese, and coriander. Elevated by a coriander lime dressing, the salad resonated with vibrant hues and bright flavours.

Fireplace22
Avocado 4.2/5

The Avocado ($12), grilled over an applewood-fired grill, revealed a perfectly creamy texture. Crowned with roasted corn kernels and diced tomatoes, the dish boasted a harmonious interplay of sweetness and creaminess, accentuated by a drizzle of ponzu dressing.

Fireplace12
Coal-Roasted Sweet Potatoes 3.8/5

Coal-Roasted Sweet Potatoes ($10) underwent a transformative journey from boiling to grilling on the applewood-fired grill. Seasoned with salt and blended fennel seeds, the dish showcased the sweet nuances of purple sweet potatoes, intensified through the grilling process and paired with sour cream.

Fireplace16
Octopus Tentacles 4/5

The Octopus Tentacles ($28) underwent tender simmering before meeting the applewood-fired grill. Adorned with housemade coriander pesto sauce, celery cress, and Japanese 7-spice blend, the dish flaunted a delightful marriage of textures and flavours.

Fireplace4
Bone Marrow Toast 4/5

The Bone Marrow Toast ($28) presented a rich indulgence as beef bone marrow graced a toasted housemade brioche bread. Caper, parsley, caramelised onions, and pickled shallots adorned the ensemble, contributing to a balanced and delectable finish.

Fireplace24
Half Spanish Suckling Pig 4/5

Transitioning to mains, the Half Spanish Suckling Pig ($240) took centre stage, slow-cooked over the fire pit for three hours until the meat achieved tender succulence and the skin crisped to perfection. Ideal for sharing, this dish embodied a celebration of flavours.

Fireplace26
Dirty Duck 4.2/5

The Dirty Duck ($48) showcased an Irish duck rubbed with a medley of aromatic spices and sous vide and finished on the grill. The succulent meat, smoky char, and infused spice aroma resonated harmoniously, complemented by the thoughtful addition of grilled plum to cut through the richness.

Fireplace30
8 Hours Wood-fired Roasted Whole Lamb 3.8/5

A testament to its dedication, the 8 Hours Wood-fired Roasted Whole Lamb, 300g ($50), featured Australian Lamb slow-cooked for eight hours over the fire pit. The result was a tender and juicy delight devoid of any gamey undertones.

Fireplace36
Lemon Pound Cake 3.8/5

The Lemon Pound Cake ($13) showcased a unique twist for a sweet ending. Grilled on the applewood-fire pit after being brushed with melted butter, the cake's charred surface provided a delightful contrast. It was a symphony of textures, served with creme fraiche and mixed berries compote.

Fireplace33
Grilled Spiced Rum Pineapple 4/5

Concluding our feast, the Grilled Spiced Rum Pineapple ($14) offered a sweet and tangy finale. Soaked in rum and grilled over the fire pit, the pineapple slices were served with spiced rum syrup and a scoop of rum and raisin ice cream, creating a memorable conclusion to our dinner experience.

Fireplace by Bedrock embodies a fusion of rustic charm and finesse, inviting diners to savour the nuanced artistry of fire-kissed flavours.

Boeuf @ Telok Ayer Street - 2Hr All You Can Eat Free Flow Argentinian Ribeye On Weekends

Boeuf11

Boeuf, located in the Central Business District, is a new steakhouse that offers a variety of aged prime ribs as well as steak with varying marbling scores and beef sourced from around the globe without breaking the bank.

Boeuf2
Bone Marrow 4/5

We started with the Bone Marrow ($18/$30) with toasted bread, perfect for mopping up the creamy, rich-tasting bone marrow.

Boeuf7
Wagyu Tartare 4/5

Next is the Wagyu Tartare ($28). The portion is generous. Using 400+ days grass-fed Australia Wagyu MB5, the raw beef tossed with capers, shallot, and gherkins is packed with lovely flavours. I am told the chef added mayonnaise, giving it a delightful creamy texture.

Boeuf5
Board Minnie 4/5

The Board Minnie ($48) is great for sharing and comes with two kinds of cheese, bresaola and veal rillette. You can also create your own board at $13 each per selection.

Boeuf13
Signature Dry Aged Prime Rib Bone-In 4.5/5

The highlight has to be their Signature Dry Aged Prime Rib Bone-In ($18/100g). It comes bone-in, with a minimum of 1kg of charcoal-grilled beefy goodness. Customers get to pick their own dry-aged option, grilled over charcoal on a lava stone, giving it a good char and infused with a smoky aroma. It is then popped into the oven to lock in the juiciness. There are four different accompanying sauces - Steak Butter ($5), Pepper ($5), Mushroom ($6) and Blue Cheese ($6).

Boeuf18
Potato Gratin 4.5/5

Boeuf21
Kenya Bean 3.5/5

Boeuf22
Hand Cut Fries 4/5

We had some sides to go with the beautiful charcoal-grilled prime ribs. Out of the six items available on the sides menu, we picked the Potato Gratin ($12), Kenya Bean ($9) and Hand Cut Fries ($9). Out of the three sides, the Potato Gratin stood out. The layered potato slices baked in cream and cheese were deliciously flavoured with herbs adding a subtle earthy taste profile. The kenya bean and hand-cut fries were comforting dishes that complemented the steak and frites dining experience.

Boeuf26
Argentinian Ribeye 4/5

Beef lovers will rejoice that Boeuf has a 2-Hour Eat All You Can Free-Flow Argentinian Ribeye promotion for only $48++ on weekends. However, despite free flow, the restaurant did not shy away from offering quality cuts.

Boeuf29
Choco De Coco 4/5

After all the meats, it is good to end the meal on a sweet note. Chocolate lovers will revel in the Choco De Coco ($13) served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. There is even chestnut in the dark chocolate dessert.

Boeuf30
Creme Brulee 4/5

The Cream Brulee ($13) was soft and creamy with a crackling caramelised sugar on top. The contrast provides a wonderful textural experience for a satisfying sweet ending.

True Cost @ Suntec City - A Rooftop Restaurant And Wine Bar In Suntec City’s Sky Garden

IMG_4464

If you have yet to hear of True Cost, it is a restaurant in the Sky Garden of Suntec City dedicated to providing a dining experience for its guest with quality food and drinks without high markups in cost.

IMG_4465
Seafood Lucky Tower 4/5

True Cost kept in mind the universal lucky number '8' while putting this Seafood Lucky Tower ($88) together. In each of these towers, you will enjoy 8 slices of scallop sashimi, 8 slices of salmon sashimi, 8 slices of unagi, 8 pieces of Japanese oysters, 8 prawns and 8 baby lobsters, accompanied with tobiko caviar. Though we were not big fans of the texture of the baby lobsters, freshness was there for the sashimi items and prawns.

IMG_4466
Hummus with Kimchi Cucumbers 4.2/5

The Hummus with Kimchi Cucumbers ($7.50) was a pleasant surprise. In this unlikely combination, the tangy kimchi cucumbers gave an extra brightness and a slight kick of spice in contrast to the creaminess of the hummus. I recommend topping up more of the fluffy soft pita, as the default portion comes with only a piece. We heard that they fly in their pita bread from Greece!

IMG_4472
Burrata with Dried Grapes and Mint Leaves 4/5

If you are a fan of burrata, the Burrata with Dried Grapes and Mint Leaves ($14.50) is one to look out for. We preferred it to be less sweet, but it was an interesting take, with juicy grapes and chopped mint leaves paired with the creamy burrata.

IMG_4473
Bone Marrow with Mushrooms and Bulgogi Sauce 4/5

My dining companions enjoyed the Bone Marrow with Mushrooms and Bulgogi Sauce ($18.95). They described the bone marrow and bulgogi sauce pairing as unexpected but something they'd have again. From all the dishes we have tried, unique flavour combinations are something True Cost emphasises.

IMG_4474
Pork Belly with Sweet Potato Purée and Tomato Jam 4/5

Lastly, we had the Pork Belly with Sweet Potato Puree and Tomato Jam ($14.95). We found this a bit oily, but the fatty pork belly was tender. The sweetness from the sweet potato purée and slight tartness from the tomato jam complemented nicely.

Do note that there is a moderate entrance fee applied to all guests visiting True Cost, depending on the time of day. It is $5 per pax for lunch between 12 to 3pm, and $10 per pax for dinner between 5pm to 9pm. Entrance fee is complimentary daily between 3pm to 5pm and 9pm to 10pm. If you opt for bar seatings, there is a 50% discount off for entrance fees. Table reservations can be made via https://reserve.oddle.me/en_SG/truecost/.

Beast Restaurant and Bar @ Duxton Hill - Savour The Art Of Steak At Beast Duxton

Beast45

Inspired by North America steakhouses, Beast Restaurant and Bar, located at Duxton Hill, combines a modern steakhouse with chic bar vibes. Setting into the restaurant, you are first greeted by the bar. Then, stepping behind the curtain separating the bar and dining area, diners transform into an intimate dining room with exposed brick walls and leather banquettes.

TheBeastRestaurant-3

TheBeastRestaurant-4

The kitchen is helmed by Chef Muhamad, formerly from Santi Marina Bay Sands, Bam!, Gaig Singapore, and Park Grill in Kuala Lumpur. The food is centred around a specially designed grill and a special mix of Binchotan Charcoal, oak wood and lychee wood.

Beast13
Live Pacific Oysters 4.5/5

We started our dinner with some Live Pacific Oysters ($38/ $72) that were freshly shucked, fresh and briny. The pairing of ponzu, kimchi and avruga caviar brightened the enjoyment.

Beast30
Smoked Tuna Tataki 4/5

The other starter we had was the Smoked Tuna Tataki ($32). The smoked tuna, foie gras and terrine are layered like fallen domino blocks, paired with Aji Amarillo and hazelnut. It has a delightfully fruity sweetness from the Aji Amarillo, while the foie gras gives an extra soothing creaminess.

Beast39
Grilled Bone Marrow 4.2/5

To go with our mains, we ordered a couple of sides to go along. First, we had the Grilled Bone Marrow ($22/2pc). It smelled so good that we started on it before the mains arrived. I love the sweetness from wine-braised caramelized onion and bacon bits that accentuated the taste profile.

Beast25
Creamy Spinach 4.5

I decided to get some vegetables to our diet, so I went for the Creamy Spinach ($14), which consists of feta cheese and raisins. It is one of my favourite side dishes for any steakhouse.

Beast44
Sanchoku MB7 Australian Grained Fed Wagyu Picanha 4.8/5

Unique at Beast is the extensive range of different cuts of meat ranging from Sanchoku Australian Grain Fed Wagyu Picanha ($68, 300g), Margaret River Australian Wagyu Tenderloin ($58, 180g) to Miyazaki Japanese A5 Wagyu Ribeye ($108, 200g). We had the Sanchoku MB7 Australian Grained Fed Wagyu Picanha cooked to medium pink. The priced cut with its beautiful marbling is tender and juicy. The beef is so flavourful on its own that no extra seasoning or sauces are needed.

Beast47
Chilean Sea Bass 4.2/5

There are other protein choices for those who don't eat beef, such as the Chilean Sea Bass ($42). The moist fish is grilled to perfection, floating on a bed of green lentils and sake foam.

Beast62
Earl Grey Tea Flan

Not to be missed are their desserts too. I definitely recommend you to save some space for the them. We had the Earl Grey Tea Flan ($14) and 72% Chocolate Cake ($16). The Earl Grey Tea Flan made from goats milk is light, but well-flavoured for a tealific finishing, paired with Madagascar vanilla ice cream.

Beast66
72% Chocolate Cake 4.2/5

For the sweet tooth that prefers something richer and more intense, the 72% Chocolate Cake is a good choice. The chocolate is moist and soft, like tiramisu's texture, paired with salted caramel ice cream.

Beast6

As the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover, don't be misled by the front of the restaurant thinking it is a drinking hole. The food here impressed me. It's one of those restaurants that I made a mental note to return or if my friend asked me for a recommendation.

True Cost Singapore @ Suntec City - Quality Fare Priced At its “True Cost” Instead Of Usual Market/Restaurant Price

IMG_8232

True Cost Singapore at Suntec City prides itself on offering quality dining at a fraction of the market price. You need only pay a relatively low cover charge ($5 for weekday lunch) and ($10 for weekend dinner) to experience good quality fare at a fraction of its market price. Each dish is tagged on the menu with its "True Cost" price and market prices.

IMG_8258
Yellowtail Crudo 4.8/5

We started the meal with a few cold appetisers showing off their ingredients' freshness. The Yellowtail Crudo ($7.65 / Usual Market Price $24.00) had a firm flesh and a light flavour elevated with a citrusy but savoury dressing. I love how the olive tapenade and green chillies atop lent an extra bite and freshness.

IMG_8262
Heh Marinated Scallop 4/5

Another well-loved dish is this plump Heh Marinated Scallop ($19.76 Usual/ Market Price $24.00) flavoured with fragrant chilli garlic, coriander and pink pepper that brought out the sweetness of the scallop. The pickled cucumber added an enjoyable crunch to these mouth-filling pieces of the scallop.

IMG_8271
Salmon Truffle Crudo 4/5

Salmon Truffle Crudo ($10.50 / Usual Market Price $18.00) is a crowd-pleasing dish. The addition of fresh horseradish gave the salmon an edge that counters its richness.

IMG_8287
Hummus With Kim Chi Cucumbers 4/5

Hummus With Kim Chi Cucumbers ($5.95 / Usual Market Price $14.00) was rich, creamy and wholesome, perfect with the flatbread served on the side.

IMG_8279
Japanese Style Beef Tartare 3/5

Japanese Style Beef Tartare ($9 / Usual Market Price $23.00) was decent, but its creamy and tangy accompaniment overwhelmed its flavour.

IMG_8296
Bone Marrow 3.5/5

Slathered with dried chilli oil, the Bone Marrow ($14.25 / Price In Other Restaurants $28.00) was full-flavoured, with a cheesy yoghurt sauce served on the side to cut its richness. A basket of bread instead of just a slice is probably more apt to clean the bones!

IMG_8299
Grilled Eggplant With Miso 2.5/5

I had an excellent grilled eggplant with miso at Sens of Japan before, and that is just unforgettable. Unfortunately, this Grilled Eggplant With Miso ($6.65 / Price In Other Restaurants $14.00) paled in comparison with a confusing flavour profile and too many elements. The miso lacks flavour, and the presence of the pickled onions seems unnecessary.

IMG_8313
Octopus With Potato Mousse 4/5

For mains, Octopus With Potato Mousse ($19.85 / Price In Other Restaurants $30.00) is a real gem at this price point. The octopus was grilled with the right amount of char and doneness. However, the potato mousse could have been less buttery as it got cloying after a while.

IMG_8304
Beef Cheek With Pea Purée 2.5/5

The Beef Cheek With Pea Purée ($12.75 / Price In Other Restaurants $30.00) comes at a very attractive price point but was disappointingly dry. The curry-flavour puree was too sweet and intense, and the sauce didn't quite bring the elements together either.

IMG_8254
Ceviche Mary 4/5

True Cost also keeps the tipples at affordable prices despite its location and gorgeous setting. We had a smokey and piquant Ceviche Mary ($11.30), a reimagination of the morning cocktail Bloody Mary, featuring a tomato mix blended with 12 handpicked secret ingredients.

IMG_8238

Cover Charges
Mon - Thu: 11am - 3pm - $5
Mon - Thu: 5pm - 10pm - $10
Mon - Fri: 3pm - 5pm - FREE ENTRANCE
Fri: 5pm - 10pm - $15
Sat: $15
Sun: $10

I understand the restaurant currently is opened daily from 5pm to 11pm but it has planned to extend it opening hours in the future.
