The Orchard Cafe @ Orchard Hotel Singapore - OZ “Meats” Buffet, A Vibrant Celebration of Premium Australian Produce, Culinary Craftsmanship, and Bold Flavours.

IMG_1763(1)

The Orchard Cafe at Orchard Hotel Singapore has recently launched the OZ "Meats" Buffet, showcasing the best of premium Australian produce through a lineup of curated dishes and live stations. Complementing the hearty offerings is an array of decadent desserts, ranging from classics to those inspired by Australian favourites.

IMG_1796
Nachos Station

The Nachos Station gets things off to a lively start, featuring AUS grain-fed beef or pork con carne. Paired with condiments such as tender beans, creamy guacamole, spicy salsa, sweet corn and sour cream, it makes for a fun and flavourful starter to the buffet.

Aussie-Style BBQ Pork Shoulder

IMG_1763
Slow-roasted AUS Grain-fed Striploin.

At the Carving Station, diners can enjoy Slow-roasted AUS Grain-fed Striploin and Aussie-Style BBQ Pork Shoulder. I personally favoured the pork shoulder, which was noticeably juicier and more tender, with flavours beautifully complemented by the accompanying BBQ sauce.

IMG_1774
Halibut

For seafood lovers, the Australian Catch of the Day was Halibut served with Béarnaise sauce. It was a lighter, more delicate option that balances the heavier meat offerings.

IMG_1756
AUS Wagyu Beef Sliders

The AUS Wagyu Beef Sliders are also not to be missed, with fluffy buns sandwiching flavoursome patties and melted cheese. These relatively humble-looking bites turned out to be one of my personal favourites.

IMG_1829
Short Plate

IMG_1830
Lebanese Style Lamp Chop

Another highlight is the Charcoal Grill Station, where AUS Beef Tri-tip, Short Plate and Veal Tenderloin are flame-grilled over charcoal, imparting enticing smoky notes to the succulent meats.

IMG_1732
Tim Tam Tart with Berries

IMG_1731
Lamingtons

The dessert selection was an absolute joy, rounding off the buffet on a sweet note. Among the seasonal selections, the Tim Tam Tart with Berries was indulgently rich with chocolate, delivering a delightful nutty crunch with every bite. Lamingtons offered a simple pleasure with soft butter cake coated with desiccated coconut, executed well with just the right level of sweetness.

IMG_1824
Passion Fruit Pavlova with Fresh Fruit

The Passion Fruit Pavlova with Fresh Fruit was another standout, crisp around the edges with a slightly chewy centre, carrying bright tropical notes of mango and passion fruit.

IMG_1785
Bourbon, Rum & Raisin Bread Pudding

The Hot Dessert Station was particularly irresistible, featuring indulgent treats such as Salty Peanut Brownie Pudding, Bourbon, Rum & Raisin Bread Pudding, and a comforting Baked Rice Pudding with Raspberry.

Gordon Grill @ Goodwood Park Hotel - New Winter Indulgence Menu Featuring a 1.5kg Wagyu Beef Tomahawk Steak Flambéed Tableside

Wagyu Beef Tomahawk Steak 2

There’s something about dining at a classic grill restaurant that feels especially fitting during the cooler months - imagine cosy interiors, rich sauces, indulgent ingredients and the occasional tableside theatrics that make the experience feel a little more special. Gordon Grill’s A Winter Indulgence menu leans fully into this mood, offering a comforting yet refined selection that spans land and sea, with premium produce, generous portions, and a touch of old-school charm throughout the meal.

Amuse Bouche 1
Complimentary Amuse-Bouche 3.8/5

Bread Basket 1
Complimentary Bread Basket 4/5

We started the meal with a complimentary Kimchi Chicken Tartlet as an amuse-bouche and a Bread Basket served with butter. The tartlet was a pleasant opener with a hint of spice, while the bread selection was satisfying and a simple but welcoming start to ease into the meal.

Tsarskaya Oyster 1
Tsarskaya Oyster 4/5

Tsarskaya Oyster Thermidor 1
Tsarskaya Oyster Thermidor 4.2/5

Oysters play a starring role in the Winter Indulgence menu, featuring live Tsarskaya oysters from France presented two ways. Fresh Oysters (6 pcs $58 / 12 pcs $118) were served simply with mignonette sauce and lemon - clean, briny, and refreshing, allowing the natural sweetness of the oysters to shine through.

For the Baked Oysters options (6 pcs $68 / 12 pcs $133), diners can choose between Kilpatrick or Thermidor style. We tried the Thermidor, and it was excellent! Cheesy and creamy, yet not overpowering, striking a good balance while still letting the oysters remain the star. It’s a more indulgent take and one we would happily order again.

Sautéed Chanterelle Mushroom 1
Sautéed Chanterelle Mushroom 3.8/5

From the land, we had the Sautéed Chanterelle Mushroom ($29), served with an onsen egg, shaved truffles and natural jus. Beneath it sat a layer of creamy mashed potato. While the flavours were comforting and earthy, the dish leaned heavily towards soft and creamy textures. We found ourselves wishing for a bit more contrast to elevate it further.

Risotto 1

Risotto 3
Risotto 4.5/5

The Risotto ($29), on the other hand, was very well executed. Made with morel mushrooms and finished with shaved truffles, it was rich yet balanced, with well-cooked grains that retained their structure. This was easily one of the stronger savoury dishes of the night and a comforting choice for truffle lovers.

Wagyu Beef Tomahawk Steak

Wagyu Beef Tomahawk Steak 1

Wagyu Beef Tomahawk Steak 3
Wagyu Beef Tomahawk Steak 4.5/5

One of the highlights of the meal was the Wagyu Beef Tomahawk Steak ($372), which comes with an impressive tableside flambé. Cooked medium as recommended, the steak was tender and flavourful, especially the parts with well-rendered fats. It was served with roasted potatoes, baked tomato, sautéed vegetables and red wine jus. A definite dish to share and savour. The other beef option on the menu is the Black Angus Beef Porterhouse Steak ($348), which also looks equally tempting.

Seared Red Emperor Snapper 1
Seared Red Emperor Snapper 4/5

From the sea, we tried the Seared Red Emperor Snapper ($38), served with truffle petit pois, fresh maize and split fish jus. The skin was nicely crisp, the fish was fresh and delicate, with clean, restrained flavours. Simple yet well-executed, allowing the quality of the fish to speak for itself. The menu also offers a Pan-Seared Red Grouper ($38) as an alternative seafood option.

Crêpe Suzette 3

Crêpe Suzette 1
Crêpe Suzette 5/5

Desserts were a definite highlight and deserving of full marks. Gordon Grill’s signature Crêpe Suzette ($26) is a must-have, especially for fans of classic French desserts. Flambéed tableside with Cointreau and brandy and served with vanilla bean ice cream, the soft crêpe, soaked in citrusy syrup, was both nostalgic and indulgent. Not many places in Singapore still do this, and I found myself salivating just thinking about it again while writing this.

Morello Cherry Tart 1
Morello Cherry Tart 5/5

The Morello Cherry Tart ($18) also impressed us. It may look simple, but the buttery tart shell was so good it left us wanting more, even with already very full stomachs.

Overall, Gordon Grill’s A Winter Indulgence menu is a comforting, well-curated offering that showcases classic flavours with a touch of tableside drama. While some dishes stood out more than others. The Winter Indulgence menu is available till 31 March and is best enjoyed unhurriedly, with good company and a hearty appetite.

Moxie @ Alumni Association Medical Centre (SGH) - Launches Brand New Weekend Brunch Experience

Black Garlic Pesto Linguine 1

Moxie, located just minutes from Tiong Bahru, brings a refreshing Mediterranean beach-house vibe to its newly launched Weekend Brunch. Bright, airy and relaxed, the space is designed for lingering afternoons filled with sharing plates, seafood-forward dishes and easy drinks. We visited for an invited tasting to explore their updated brunch offerings. Here’s our complete, honest review.

Burrata 1

Burrata 2
Burrata 4/5

We started with the Burrata Salad ($26), featuring an ultra-creamy burrata paired with roasted and pickled red beets, flambeed grapes and a fragrant pistachio dukkah. The balance of sweetness, acidity and spice works beautifully, and the mint oil adds a refreshing lift. A simple dish elevated by thoughtful touches is a strong start to the meal.

Spiced Corn Ribs 1
Spiced Corn Ribs 3.8/5

The Spiced Corn Ribs ($16) arrived in adorable finger-sized pieces, lightly crisp and well-seasoned with paprika, coriander and cumin. The cumin-infused aioli, feta and fresh herbs add richness, making this an easy crowd-pleaser. Great as a starter or as a snack with drinks, though not particularly groundbreaking.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken Lollipop 1
*NEW* Buttermilk Fried Chicken Lollipop 3/5

We were pretty excited for the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Lollipops ($15) as they looked promising and well-marinated. However, the flavour leaned too salty for our liking, and the charred edges introduced a bitterness that distracted from the marinade. The smoked almond aioli was tasty, but overall, this dish didn’t land as well as the others.

Spanish Cod Brandade 1

Spanish Cod Brandade 2
*NEW* Spanish Cod Brandade 4/5

The Spanish Cod Brandade ($19) turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Made with salted cod slow-cooked in aromatic milk, then folded with potatoes, garlic confit, shio kombu and crème fraiche, it has a comforting, creamy texture reminiscent of a seafood croquette filling. Spread on toasted sourdough, it’s rich, savoury and addictive. Definitely a dish that grows on you with each bite.

Black Garlic Pesto Linguine 2

Black Garlic Pesto Linguine 5
Black Garlic Pesto Linguine 3.5/5

The Black Garlic Pesto Linguine ($32) features al dente pasta in a sauce of white wine, black garlic pesto, rock shrimp, scallops, mussels, and chilli flakes. While the seafood was fresh and the pasta cooked well, the garlic flavours didn’t come through strongly enough, and the scallops were cut into tiny pieces, which reduced their satisfaction factor. A decent dish, but could be bolder.

Shrimp and Grits 1
*NEW* Shrimp and Grits 4.5/5

Umami Rice 1

Shrimp and Grits 2
Umami Rice 4.2/5

Moxie does seafood really well, and it truly shows in both the Shrimp and Grits ($36) and the Umami Rice ($46). The former impressed us with three plump tiger prawns, marinated in Calabrian chilli and garlic, grilled perfectly, and served atop creamy saffron- and cotija-infused grits. Rich, flavour-packed and memorable, though best shared as it becomes heavy after several bites.

The latter features matsu rice simmered in shellfish bisque and crowned with prawns, scallops, squid and clams. We loved the firm, al-dente grains that absorbed all the bisque goodness. Deeply savoury and layered with briny sweetness, this was one of our favourites of the afternoon.

Double Bone Iberico Pork Chop 1

Double Bone Iberico Pork Chop 3
*NEW* Double Bone Iberico Pork Chop 3.8/5

The Double Bone Iberico Pork Chop ($42) is brined, sous-vide-cooked, pecan-crusted, and finished in the oven, resulting in tender, juicy meat. Paired with a pancetta and sweet corn potato hash, it’s hearty and flavourful. However, the combination veers slightly too sweet for our personal preference.

Dark Chocolate Mousse 1
Dark Chocolate Mousse 3/5

Pistachio Cheese Brulee Tart 1
*NEW* Pistachio Cheese Brulee Tart 3.5/5

We ended our meal with two desserts. The Dark Chocolate Mousse ($16) is velvety and rich, served with hazelnut ice cream, toasted hazelnuts and berry compote. The flavours are classic and comforting, though not particularly standout.

The Pistachio Cheese Brulee Tart ($18) features an almond sablé crust filled with a pistachio-infused cream cheese custard, which is torched before serving. Creamy, slightly savoury, and not overly sweet, this makes a lovely finish for those who prefer desserts on the lighter side.

Drinks 1

For those who enjoy a tipple with brunch, Moxie offers a generous 2-hour free-flow programme — priced at $38++ for red/white wine and prosecco, or $48++ if you’d like to add rosé, Aperol spritz and beer. If free-flow isn’t your vibe, their menu also features a solid selection of creative and classic cocktails that pair well with a lazy weekend afternoon.

Restaurant

Moxie offers a breezy, enjoyable brunch experience with standout seafood dishes, vibrant starters, and a welcoming Mediterranean-inspired setting. While a few plates could benefit from stronger flavours or seasoning adjustments, many dishes delivered satisfying textures and freshness. The 2-hour free-flow option is also a great value for those planning to unwind over drinks. If you’re looking for a relaxed weekend spot to graze, share plates and enjoy well-executed seafood, Moxie is a charming choice worth checking out.

Goodwood Park Singapore Christmas - Eat, Drink and Be Merry with Enchanting Selection of Festive Treats and Exclusive Dining Experiences

GoodwoodXmas2025-7

This Christmas, Goodwood Park Hotel marks its monumental 125th anniversary with a spectacular lineup of festive treats. An impressive collection that blends the hotel’s timeless culinary heritage with fresh, innovative flavours. Available for walk-in purchases at The Deli from 15 November to 26 December 2025, the selection spans hearty savoury centrepieces, playful sharing favourites and stunning desserts. Online pre-orders are also available via their festive site.

GoodwoodXmas2025-16

GoodwoodXmas2025-13

Among this year’s standout creations is the Steam-Baked Turkey stuffed with Chestnut, Ham and Vegetables, served uniquely with Yam Rice and Chef’s Special Chilli Sauce. This delightful Asian-inspired twist feels both nostalgic and comforting. The bird is tender and aromatic, while the accompanying chilli sauce adds a punch that sets it apart from typical takeaway turkeys.

Goodwood Park also introduces two versions of Turkey Pot Pie, reinvented with flair. The curry-spiced rendition is full-bodied and fragrant, while the creamy butternut squash version, with caramelised onions and cranberries, strikes a lovely balance of sweet and savoury. For something heartier, the Turkey Spinach Lasagne layers soft sheets of pasta with creamy spinach and turkey, making for a cosy, festive staple. The Snowy Nyonya Turkey Buns are a charming addition — pillowy-soft steamed buns wrapped around a moreish turkey filling, evoking a nostalgic Singaporean touch.

GoodwoodXmas2025-18

Meat lovers can look forward to the beautifully Roasted Australian Wagyu Ribeye with Yorkshire Pudding, Vegetables and Merlot Sauce. The ribeye is juicy with a satisfying crust, paired with airy Yorkshire pudding and a rich wine sauce that ties everything together.

GoodwoodXmas2025-6

Equally indulgent is the Slow-roasted Ibérico Pork Belly, roasted low and slow for over three hours with sherry vinegar and white wine. The result: immaculate crackling, luscious layers of fat and meat, and deep flavour. The sides — Potato Gratin with Gruyère and Parmesan, tangy pickled white cabbage, apple sauce, and smoked bacon-infused jus — complete the dish with satisfying richness and balance.

GoodwoodXmas2025-19

A classic staple, the Honey-glazed Boneless Ham with vanilla-pineapple sauce offers sweet, tender slices that appeal to all ages.

GoodwoodXmas2025-25

Back by popular demand, the DIY Turkey Popiah Set (up to 10 pax) remains a crowd favourite. It’s perfect for potlucks, bringing fun to the table with tender turkey breast, sweet turnip, eggs, peanuts, mushrooms, sambal and more — an interactive and flavour-packed way to celebrate together.

GoodwoodXmas2025-2

No Goodwood Christmas is complete without their star-studded dessert lineup. This year introduces the elegant Earl Grey Winter Sleigh Log Cake — a sophisticated creation featuring an Earl Grey crémeux with Jivara chocolate, pistachio sponge and raspberry compote resting on a crisp kunafa base. Encased in pistachio mousse and adorned with reindeer-shaped white chocolate décor, it delivers fragrance, crunch and creamy indulgence in every slice.

Another new creation, the Yuletide Chocolate Travel Cake is a superb option — rich, dense and intensely chocolatey, featuring Manjari chocolate cake, a vanilla-spiced apricot compote centre, and a glossy dark chocolate almond glaze. Its whimsical miniature log shape makes it ideal for gifting.

GoodwoodXmas2025-3

The Crisp-mas Pistachio Kunafa Tart (500g) is a visual and textural showstopper, combining caramelised pistachios, roasted kunafa, and silky pastry cream in a chocolate-sugar crust — reminiscent of the viral Dubai Chocolate flavour profile but elevated with Goodwood Park finesse.

GoodwoodXmas2025-1

For those who prefer something lighter, the Merry Berry Nutty Tart offers a refreshing mix of fruits and nuts atop almond cream and pastry cream — pretty, bright and delightfully festive.

GoodwoodXmas2025-10

In the spirit of the holidays, Goodwood Park Hotel will donate 10% of sales from Christmas log cakes and tarts to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, making each purchase a meaningful contribution.
