Town Restaurant @ The Fullerton Hotel Singapore - Past Meet Future Pop Up Featuring Celebrated Specialties Of Singapore's Next Gen Hawkers

TownRestaurant13

For the month of March, Town Restaurant at Fullerton Singapore collaborates with four next-generation hawkers, showcasing their respective speciality in addition to the line-up of heritage dishes.

TownRestaurant14
Seafood On Ice 4/5

Before diving into the much-celebrated specialities of the next-generation hawkers, we had a round of appetisers first, including the huge, stunning bowl of Seafood On Ice. Within sits Tiger Prawns, Norwegian Smoked Salmon, Spanner Crab, Conch, Half Shell Scallop, Black Mussels.

TownRestaurant20
Sashimi & Maki Roll 4/5

Along with the Seafood On Ice came a family-style platter of Sashimi & Maki Roll.

TownRestaurant17
Whole Roasted Baby Chicken Sapit 4/5

Each table is also entitled a one-time order Whole Roasted Baby Chicken Sapit, served with Spicy Kicap Manis Dip. The chicken was incredibly moist and tender. I love the gravy that was served over chicken. It was robust and vibrant with spices, perfect for kicking start your appetite.

TownRestaurant12
Tree Coconut Nasi Lemak 4/5

Moving on to the stars of the month. Tree Coconut Nasi Lemak shines with its moreish coconut rice and that ever pleasing Sunny-side up.

TownRestaurant1
Beef Noodle Soup 4/5

TownRestaurant4
BeeF Noodle Dry 4/5

Next was the Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow, and you can have the best of both worlds as it comes in soup or with gravy. The beef balls and beef slices were tender as expected. The chilli served at the side, enlivened the dishes by a notch.

TownRestaurant7
Popiah 3.5/5

Popiah is my all-time favourite. Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Popiah didn't disappoint with its stretchy skin. Still, I thought the turnips could be softer and more flavorful.

TownRestaurant10
Eat3Cuts Cantonese Roast Meats 3.8/5

Another draw of this heritage feast is the Eat3Cuts Cantonese Roast Meats, featuring Roasted Pipa Duck, Soy Chicken and Golden Chicken Coin, with sweet and sour cucumber. The Roasted Pipa Duck was the highlight with its well-roasted skin.

TownRestaurant24
Asian Delights Platter 4/5

The Asian Delights Platter is a must-try here. It comes with Iconic Singapore Chilli Crab Golden Mantou, Singapore Satay Beef & Chicken, Kurobuta Pork & Crab Meat Ngoh Hiang. A pleasing platter for the whole family.

TownRestaurant25
Singapore Laksa 4/5

Another notable item is the Singapore Laksa, one of the buffet's signature dishes. The gravy imbued all the oomph of a good laksa, at least to me.

TownRestaurant30

The dessert course was superb with a platter of well-curated sweet treats. I love the Strawberry Shortcake that has an ideal fresh cream to sponge cake ratio, as well as the unique Teh-Banana Tart comprising layers of ingredients. The Fullerton Fudge Cake is worth a second helping too.

It features a golden dome encasing a bed of Yu Sheng ingredients that include premium toppings such as Lobster, Baby Abalone, Wagyu Beef and Salmon. Smash the dome open with a mini hammer, and the cracker shatters to reveal the colourful array of fresh ingredients as well as big sweep tickets for a chance to get lucky in the new year.

PeachGarden6
Double-Boiled Essence of Chicken Soup with Stuffed Fish Maw 4.2/5

Next, we had their Double-Boiled Essence of Chicken Soup, which arrives with a tiny flame below the pot to keep it warm. The nourishing soup is intense in flavour, well-packed with the chicken's essence after hours of boiling. It is a well-executed bowl of soup that we enjoyed very much.

PeachGarden5
Peach Garden Mala Seafood Pen Cai 4.2/5

Peach Garden spices up the traditional Pen Cai with their new Peach Garden Mala Seafood Pen Cai, which serves 6 pax. The pot is filled with luxurious ingredients such as lobster, red grouper, sea cucumber, Australian scallop, prawns, fish maw, and king oyster mushrooms. They are infused with a fragrant in-house mala spice and layered upon one another for a medley of flavours.

PeachGarden12
Roasted Golden Suckling Pig 4/5

The majestic Roasted Golden Suckling Pig comes with mahogany, crisp skin and sticky-tender meat. We were served pieces of crackling skin, accompanied with thin slices of soft mantou buns, sweet sauce and crunchy green onion.

PeachGarden4
Traditional Steamed Claypot Rice with Chinese Sausages 4/5

The piping hot and delicious bowl of Traditional Steamed Claypot Rice was a welcoming end to the main courses. Well-flavoured and filled with a generous amount of lup cheong, you can taste the fragrance of the ingredients infused with the subtle burnt aroma.

PeachGarden2

Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg @ One Raffles Place Shopping Mall - Premium Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef Hamburgs At Affordable Prices

SyohachiWagyuHamburg11

Farm-to-table restaurant Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg at One Raffles Place Shopping Mall offers hamburgs made from premium cuts of A5 wagyu fresh from Japan. Under the same brand which runs Hong Kong’s well-known speciality yakiniku joint, Syohachi Yakiniku, Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg prides itself in its farm-to-table concept. This is made possible as they own an exclusive partnership with Japan’s award-winning Hidakami Ranch in the Japanese prefecture of Miyagi-ken, allowing them access to exquisite cuts of Japanese A5 Wagyu beef.

SyohachiWagyuHamburg16

Other than Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg, buttery Japanese thick toasts can also be found on their menu. To ensure the freshness of every dish served and to keep up with the lunch crowd, Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg’s offerings vary from breakfast to lunch to dinner. The Breakfast Menu runs from morning till 11.30am, while Lunch Menu is between 11.30am to 2.30pm, followed by an Afternoon Tea & Dinner Menu starting from 2.30pm onwards to closing. So be sure to catch the right timing to avoid disappointment. And also, each set meal comes with a free-flow salad buffet which unfortunately has to be revised to portioned salads due to the Covid-19 situation. Once the situation allows for it, Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg will implement its free-flow salad buffet.

SyohachiWagyuHamburg5
Japanese A5 Wagyu Hamburg Steak Set 3.8/5

The signature Japanese A5 Wagyu Hamburg Steak Set ($16.50), available from 11.30am onward, comes with fresh mixed green salad, seasonal Japanese pickles and Japanese steamed rice with Syohachi’s signature beef gravy. At first glance, the hamburg looked kind of 'naked' compared to the usual hamburgs served in a hot plate with sauces. That said, as a fast-casual concept in the CBD area, it does make sense to make it more fuss-free and takeaway friendly. Prepared upon order, its beefy flavour and juicy texture say a lot about its quality.

SyohachiWagyuHamburg9
Japanese Steamed Rice with Syohachi’s Signature Beef Gravy

But what stood out of this set meal was the humble bowl of Japanese steamed rice with Syohachi’s signature beef gravy served at the side. The gravy had a perfect consistency, keeping the rice plump and pearly with a nice bite to it. I love the onions in it, which had been thoroughly softened and left to impart sweetness into the gravy. There were morsels of mushrooms as well, which added a depth of flavour and a textural bite to the rice.

SyohachiWagyuHamburg17
Wagyu Beef Toastie with Cheddar Cheese and Egg Omelette 4/5

For a less than usual breakfast, afternoon snack or light dinner, try its Syohachi Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef Toastie ($7.70 ala carte/$10.70 set). A cut of A5 wagyu beef patty sandwiched in between two thick buttery slices of white bread. The oomph factor was definitely there when I had it with an extra top-up of a serving of cheddar cheese and egg omelette. All add-ons are priced at $1 per serving. For Japanese Butter Toasties, their sets come with a fresh mixed green salad, seasonal Japanese pickles and crispy tater tots. (Not available for lunch.)

SyohachiWagyuHamburg14
Japanese Egg Omelette and Cheddar Cheese Toastie 3.8/5

Even if you ain't in the mood for meat, its Japanese Egg Omelette and Cheddar Cheese Toastie ($6.50 ala carte/$9.50 set) will leave you just as satisfied. Served hot from the grill, the molten cheese that oozed out whet my appetite instantly. The omelette, however, wasn't as fluffy as expected, and I felt the white slices of bread could be less charred as well to retain some of their softness. (The set is available all day, and Ala Carte is not available during lunch hours.)

SyohachiWagyuHamburg20
Chunky Peanut Butter with Condensed Milk Toastie 3.8/5

Reminiscent of a Hongkong style toast, this Chunky Peanut Butter with Condensed Milk Toastie ($5 ala carte/$8 set) hit all the right spots with its savoury, crunchy peanut butter and creamy condensed milk without being too cloying. I would prefer a softer bread though, to cradle the oozy filling much better. (Not available during lunch hours)

SyohachiWagyuHamburg1

Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg is celebrating its opening with a 50% OFF promotion on selected sets featuring Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef from 23 to 25 October for both dine-in and takeaway. Selected sets featuring their premium Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef will be on offer at different time periods:

VUE @ OUE Bayfront - Surf & Turf Weekend Set Lunch With A Cocktail On The House

Vue11

Located atop OUE Bayfront, VUE has been known for having one of the best views of Singapore's skyline. The time to really take it all in is perhaps the weekend, and catering to these precious hours is a newly launched "Surf & Turf" Weekend Set Lunch menu priced at $128. With this special menu, you get a choice of seafood as well as meat, complemented by 2 sides, and a dessert to end off your leisure afternoon.

Vue2
Lunch cocktail

Since it's a weekend and you might have started your day late, VUE has prepared a cocktail on the house to wake up your senses. Choose between a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa, or if you like to have more, subsequent orders will be at $15 each.

Vue9
Lobster Thermidor 3.5/5

An aperitif was indeed much needed for the meal ahead. For seafood, we chose Lobster Thermidor (+$12) of whole Maine lobster baked with mushroom, cheddar and gruyere, served with Hollandaise sauce. The lobster meat itself was scrumptious with the sauce and cheeses, and I felt the mushrooms didn't quite fit into the whole situation.

Vue12
USDA Prime Black Angus 4.5/5

VUE specialises in binchotan-grilled meats, and included as one of the Turf options is a 250g USDA Prime, Brandt Family Ribeye (+$35). Its beautiful flavours were enhanced by cooking over the charcoal, which imparted a depth of smokiness into the meat.

Vue16
Signature A5 "Kokuou' Emperor Black Wagyu Brisket 3.8/5

We also tried its signature A5 "Kokuou' Emperor Black Wagyu Brisket. Slow roasted for 24hours, the brisket had achieved the desired level of tenderness, and its flavours were superb. I find the sauce slightly too assertive, less of it would have made the meat even more pleasurable.

Vue18
Roasted Bone Marrow 3.5/5

For sides, we tried Truffle Polenta, Creamed Spinach, Grilled Cauliflower and Roasted Bone Marrow with Mushroom Duxelles (+$10). I reckoned the bone marrow needed a few more minutes of heat and a dose of salt to turn it into a luscious and savoury butter. What's missing is a few pieces of crostini! Still, it could be worth getting the bone marrow, which is sizeable for two.

Vue26
Basque-Style Burnt Cheesecake 4.5/5

The dessert is Basque-Style Burnt Cheesecake, and it was simply decadent. Inherently rich with heavy cream and cream cheese, I was surprised by how light this was - firm, moist with a custardy core. The tart berry jam went a long way in balancing the sweetness of the cheesecake, alongside the freshness of mixed berries. I love the addition of the almond crumbles too, which brilliantly compensated the lack of a buttery and crunchy element of burnt cheesecakes.

Town Restaurant @ The Fullerton Hotel Singapore - Experience Local & International Cuisine Sunday Brunch

TownRestaurant2

Sit back, relax and toast to a Sunday brunch at Town Restaurant, situated in The Fullerton Hotel. Guests get to enjoy delicious brunch staples like Egg Benedict alongside irresistible favourites such as Chilled Maine Lobsters and Scallops, Grilled Angus Striploin, Slow-Roasted Lamb Leg scented with Rosemary and Garlic, and more.

With the current ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, The Fullerton Hotel has set up rigorous cleanliness practices and safe distancing measures at their restaurants to ensure that diners can experience an enhanced level of protection. Guests will experience a whole new different way of enjoying buffets in these unprecedented times, as ala-carte dishes can only be ordered from the menu, which will then be freshly prepared by the chefs upon order and delivered to your table. But of course, dishes will be free-flow for the duration of the buffet!

TownRestaurant4
Chilled Seafood Delight 4/5

First, we kickstart the buffet with some crustacean delights from the starters menu. The Chilled Seafood Delight comprises a half Maine lobster, tiger prawns, half-shell scallops, snow crab legs and Venus clams.

TownRestaurant9
Omakase Makimono 3.8/5

We had the Omakase Makimono - with a selection of maki rolls including the lobster & avocado salad maki roll, spicy tempura ebi roll and California maki, as well as the selection of sushi which consists of Hamachi, Norwegian salmon, octopus and yellowfin tuna. While fresh Hamachi, Norwegian salmon, yellowfin tuna is served on the sashimi platter for the seafood lovers.

TownRestaurant6
Butcher Block Charcuterie 3.8/5

Moving on to the Butcher Block Charcuterie, it is a must-order for the cheese lovers for the mini platter of Parma ham, duck rillettes, saucisson, bresaola with freshly baked olive & rosemary focaccia.

TownRestaurant15
Lan Zhou Hand Pulled La Mian Noodles 4.2/5

TownRestaurant10
Traditional Malay-Style Grilled Chicken & Beef Satays 4/5

Not to be missed is the selection of their local favourites. The Lan Zhou Hand Pulled La Mian Noodles comes in a flavourful rich broth, with tender-braised wagyu beef cheek, Szechuan chilli, and scallion oil. We also had the Traditional Malay-Style Grilled Chicken & Beef Satays with Ketupat and chunky peanut sauce which adds a rich nutty flavour to the satays.

TownRestaurant19
Dim Sum Selection 3.8/5

From the dim sum selection, they have the Steamed Crystal Prawn Dumplings, Chicken Siew Mai, and the Hong King-Style Char Siew Pau.

TownRestaurant12
BBQ Hong Kong Roasts 4.2/5

From the BBQ Hong Kong Roasts selection, we had the Five-spiced Roasted Duck, Crispy Crackling Pork Belly, and Honey Glazed Char Siew. The tender roast meats are best paired with the Town Signature Tender-Poached Chicken Rice with house-made chilli and ginger.

TownRestaurant20
Spaghetti Vongole with White Wine Fresh Clams and Chilli 3.8/5

For something substantial, opt for their meats from the grill, as well as pasta and pizza from the Italian corner. The Italian classic of Spaghetti Vongole with White Wine Fresh Clams and Chilli was quite balanced with a light briny, garlicky aroma, and a subtle tinge of chilli.

TownRestaurant22
Grilled Angus Striploin 4.2/5

From the grill station, the Grilled Angus Striploin was one of my favourite dishes, which was cooked to perfect medium-rare doneness, and the addition of mousseline potato, smoked mustard and au just elevated the dish. Another highlight is the potato, which is made using premium french butter and sea salt for its superb smooth, buttery tones. We ordered additional Potato Mousseline, Broccoli Almondine, Roasted Champigon Mushrooms with thyme, and Signature Truffle Fries with Parmesan to go along with the steak as well.

TownRestaurant17

Because breakfast is an all-day luxury, go for their organic eggs done in 3 different ways, and accompanied with a choice of sides such as mini rosti, crispy bacon and chicken chipolata.

TownRestaurant23
Graham Cracker Key Lime Tart, Mango Pana Cotta & Exotic Macaroon Platter 4/5

We ended the meal on a sweet note with their Graham Cracker Key Lime Tart, Mango Pana Cotta & Exotic Macaroon Platter. Of the three, we fancied the Mango Pana Cotta the most for its lightly sweet but not cloying fruity flavours, as well as its soft and smooth texture. From the dessert menu, there is also an assortment of Nyonya Kueh, Classic Crème Brulee, selection of tropical fruits, cheese platter, and ice cream & sorbet available as well.
