Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant (萬豪軒) @ Marrott Tang Plaza Singapore - Savour Newly Curated Six-Course Roast Irish Peking Duck Set Till End April 2025

IMG_1259

Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant’s Roast Irish Peking Duck has long been a diner favourite for its tender meat and crisp, golden skin. This time, the restaurant presents a limited-time Roast Irish Peking Duck Set, available until 30 April 2025.

IMG_1287

The six-course set menu requires a minimum of four diners and costs $128.80++ per person ($118.80++ for in-house guests and Marriott Bonvoy members). While we sampled a portion for two, a full set for four includes half an Irish duck.

Imperial Roast Irish Peking Duck with Chinese Crêpe 4.5/5

The meal begins with the Imperial Roast Irish Peking Duck with Chinese Crêpe, a classic pairing of thin crêpe, duck skin, julienned cucumber, and scallions. This was executed perfectly. We especially loved how the duck skin had a good thickness to it, yet remained so crisp.

IMG_1278
Fortune Eight Treasures Broth 4/5

Next, the Fortune Eight Treasures Broth, a Szechuan-style hot and sour soup, surprised us with its gentle heat. Ingredients like fish maw, sea cucumber, and duck meat added texture, though we wished the duck flavour stood out more.

Baked Grouper Fillet with Cured Duck Meat and Black Bean Sauce 4.2/5

The Baked Grouper Fillet with Cured Duck Meat and Black Bean Sauce arrived in a stone pot, keeping it piping hot. The thick, tender fillets were infused with savoury black bean sauce and bits of cured duck meat, enhanced by fragrant leeks.

IMG_1290
Stewed Scampi Prawn with Spicy Light Soy Sauce 4.2/5

The Stewed Scampi Prawn with Spicy Light Soy Sauce was next. The meaty and chunky prawn had a delightful crunch, coated in a mildly spicy, sweet glaze.

Braised African 5-Head Abalone with Irish Duck Meat in Wok-Fried Japanese Pearl Rice 4/5

The final savoury dish was the Braised African 5-Head Abalone with Irish Duck Meat, Diced Vegetables, and Crispy Conpoy in Wok-Fried Japanese Pearl Rice. The rice had a beautiful hint of wok hei aroma and was well-textured, though I personally preferred it on its own without the abalone sauce.

IMG_1314
Double-Boiled Bird's Nest with Coconut Milk and Egg 4.2/5

Dessert was the Double-Boiled Bird's Nest with Coconut Milk and Egg. It featured a smooth, custard-like base reminiscent of a coconut egg tart filling. It was a soothing finish to the meal and was lightly sweet and generously topped with bird's nest.

IMG_9799

Mansion 7 is a relatively new Cantonese restaurant located in the outdoor car park next to Tanjong Pagar MRT. It offers creative twists on classic Cantonese dishes while maintaining the use of high-quality ingredients and exquisite presentation.

The space is well-suited for gatherings and business meetings. The staff was enthusiastic about ensuring our comfort and knowledgeable about their food.

Chicken Wing Stuffed with Bird’s Nest and Crab 4.2/5

We started with an off-menu special: Chicken Wing Stuffed with Bird's Nest and Crab. While the filling was milder than we expected, its natural flavours shone through, complemented by a crispy exterior.

IMG_9736

IMG_9745
椒盐活鮑魚 Salt & Pepper Live Abalone 4.5/5

The 椒盐活鮑魚 Salt & Pepper Live Abalone (Seasonal Price) was such a treat. The abalone was perfectly tender with a slight crunch, coated in an addictive chili seasoning. Both my dining partner and I agreed it was one of the best abalone dishes we’ve had recently.

IMG_9753

IMG_9758
潮州金鱼饺 Angel Goldfish Dumplings 4.2/5

Next, dim sum dishes arrived, beginning with the beautifully presented 潮州金鱼饺 Angel Goldfish Dumplings ($11 for 3). Wrapped in delicate skin, the filling of mushrooms, lemongrass, and crab meat was unexpectedly tangy but harmonised well.

IMG_9770
七号公馆樱花虾饺 Mansion 7 Fresh Prawn Dumpling 4.5/5

We moved to the steamed items, starting with their signature 七号公馆樱花虾饺 Mansion 7 Fresh Prawn Dumpling ($9 for 3). The thin skin was on point and carried within it juicy prawn chunks.

IMG_9773
芋茸流沙包 Taro 'Lava' Buns 3.8/5

The 芋茸流沙包 Taro 'Lava' Buns ($9 for 3) were slightly too sweet for our liking, and we wished for a stronger yam flavour.

IMG_9777
冲绳黑糖叉烧包 Okinawa Brown Sugar Char Siew Bun 4.2/5

In contrast, the 冲绳黑糖叉烧包 Okinawa Brown Sugar Char Siew Bun ($9 for 3) fared a lot better. I am not usually a fan of char siew buns due to how sweet they can get, but Mansion 7’s rendition is well-balanced, featuring a subtle brown sugar fragrance and smoky char siew.

IMG_9793
脆炸麻婆豆腐卷 Si Chuan Mapo Tofu Beancurd Rolls 4/5

The 脆炸麻婆豆腐卷 Si Chuan Mapo Tofu Beancurd Rolls ($9), while slightly oily, delivered a bold spice and crunch. The map tofu filling alone would be perfect with white rice.

IMG_9786
杏香百花萝卜糕 Carrot Squid Paste Cake 4.2/5

Mansion 7's inventive twists on dim sum can be seen in many dishes, such as the 杏香百花萝卜糕 Carrot Squid Paste Cake ($10). This dish features carrot cake layered with squid paste, served with a side of Thai sweet chilli sauce.

IMG_9810
Lobster in Salted Egg and Butter Cream Sauce 4/5

Apart from dim sum, Mansion 7 also offers a wide range of live seafood, vegetables, barbecue meats and more. We had the Lobster in Salted Egg and Butter Cream Sauce (Seasonal Price) and while the lobster was very fresh, I personally preferred a strong salted egg flavour. Other flavours are available to order, including steamed in HK style, sashimi style, wok-baked with truffle sauce and more.

IMG_9842
梁祝鸳鸯蝴蝶酥 Love Story of Thousand Layer Butterfly Puff 4.2/5

Moving on to desserts, we began with the visually stunning 梁祝鸳鸯蝴蝶酥 Love Story of Thousand Layer Butterfly Puff ($11). Its delicate, flaky layers enclosed a mildly sweet sweet potato filling.

IMG_9844
开心果麻糍 Homemade Pistachio Mochi 4.2/5

We enjoyed the 开心果麻糍 Homemade Pistachio Mochi ($9) as well even though the mochi skin was not chewy type we expected. It was generously stuffed with crushed pistachio filling, being nutty and fragrant.

IMG_9828
招牌北海道3.6现烤芝士塔 3.6 Hokkaido Cheese Tart 4.2/5

My favourite dessert was the 招牌北海道3.6现烤芝士塔 3.6 Hokkaido Cheese Tart ($13). These tiny bites were amazing, with oozy lava-like cheese filling contained in an extremely light and flaky tart shell. The cheese was rich but not overpowering.

IMG_9814

IMG_9822
雪莲子鸡蛋茶 Mt. Fresh Picked Chinese Herbal Egg Treasure Tea 3.8/5

Finally, we tried the 雪莲子鸡蛋茶 Mt. Fresh Picked Chinese Herbal Egg Treasure Tea ($8), a unique traditional dish of hard-boiled quail eggs infused in a tea base with Chinese herbs and spices. This was more of an acquired taste.

A true showstopper, the Double-boiled Buddha Jumps Over the Wall was an absolute delight. Made with premium ingredients such as abalone and matsutake mushrooms, the soup was rich, nourishing, and deeply flavourful. The dish showcases the essence of luxurious Chinese cuisine.

HaiTienLoCNY25-10
Braised South African Whole Abalone with Truffles and Crispy Sea Cucumber 4.5/5

For another indulgent treat, the Braised South African Whole Abalone with Truffles and Crispy Sea Cucumber delivered in both flavour and texture. The succulent abalone was beautifully braised in a luscious sauce, while the crispy sea cucumber — coated in a delicate batter — added an exciting contrast of textures.

HaiTienLoCNY25-9
Baked Lobster with Butter, Signature Homemade XO Chilli Sauce 4.8/5

One of the most talked-about dishes of the night was the Baked Lobster with Butter and Signature Homemade XO Chilli Sauce. The rich, umami-packed XO sauce elevated the sweet, juicy lobster meat, which had everyone at the table raving. The butter infusion added a layer of indulgence, making this dish a definite highlight of the meal.

HaiTienLoCNY25-12
Stewed Inaniwa Udon with Fish Maw, Pan Fried Scallops, Sliced Barbecued Beijing Duck 4.5/5

A unique and unexpected addition to the menu was the Stewed Inaniwa Udon — a departure from the usual rice or noodle dishes found in Chinese restaurants. The silky, delicate udon absorbed the essence of the fish maw, scallops, and barbecued duck, creating a luxurious and well-balanced dish. Though the udon stood well on its own, the addition of premium ingredients elevated the overall experience.

HaiTienLoCNY25-19
Double-boiled Imperial Swiftlet's Nest with Red Dates and Rock Sugar 4.2/5

Dessert was a nourishing and refined Double-boiled Imperial Swiftlet’s Nest with Red Dates and Rock Sugar. The light, refreshing sweetness made it a perfect ending to the meal, striking a balance between tradition and indulgence.

HaiTienLoCNY25-21
Gold Ingot Cake coated with Finely-ground Nuts and Shredded Yam 5/5

We also had the Gold Ingot Cake coated with Finely Ground Nuts and Shredded Yam. Though simple in appearance, the nian gao was exceptionally delicious, with the nutty crunch and yam shreds adding layers of texture and flavour, making it surprisingly enjoyable.

Hai Tien Lo’s Chinese New Year menu is an extravagant and well-crafted feast, perfect for celebrating with family and loved ones. Standout dishes include the Double-boiled Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, Baked Lobster with XO Sauce, and Braised South African Abalone. With its meticulous execution and premium ingredients, the restaurant continues to be a top-tier choice for a luxurious Lunar New Year celebration.
