To celebrate the opening of its new outlets, Hoshino Coffee launches a series of new special selection items. As part of the Hoshino Coffee Dinner Set Special (worth $60) for 2 pax, diners can pick any 2 main dishes, 2 drinks, and 1 dessert from more than 60 items in the main menu. Ginger Chicken Spaghetti 4/5

One of the newest dishes in the menu, the Ginger Chicken Spaghetti ($16.80) features al dente spaghetti noodles with generously portioned chicken chunks. Somewhat a reminiscent of a traditional chicken rice dish, yet infused with a western element as spaghetti is used here instead of the usual chicken rice. Although the chicken meat is a tad dry, it is well-seasoned with a aromatic ginger fragrance.

“Omu Rice” & Angus Beef Steak Plate 4/5

“Omu Rice” & Angus Beef Steak Plate ($18.80) features generous juicy beef slices with tomato omelette rice. Served medium rare, the angus beef steak is pinkish in the middle, and boasts a tender consistency, while the omelette is soft and fluffy.

IMG_20180501_220208_505
Pancake Souffle Style with Strawberry 4/5

End your meal on a sweet note with the Pancake Souffle Style with Strawberry ($12.80) which consists of a double layer of thick pillowy pancakes soaked in fresh cream, and topped with strawberries as well as a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The dish plays out a perfect tangy-sweet balance with the fresh berries and ice cream, while the fresh cream added some moistness to the pancakes which have a drier texture. Do note that the dish takes about 20 minutes to prepare, so it’s best to let the service staff know in advance once you are ready to have it served.

Plentyfull @ Millenia Walk - Beautiful Food That Is Both Delicious To The Camera and Palate

Plentyfull11

I have seen many beautifully plated dishes on social media platforms from Plentyfull at Millenia Walk and I have been wanting to check out the place. Plentyfull is not just about instagrammable food, the food is actually made from scratch where possible, using the freshest seasonal produce sourced from farmers and artisans locally and internationally. It provides honest, hearty and homemade meals away from home.

Plentyfull1
House Charcuterie 4.2/5

Our dinner at Plentyfull started with the House Charcuterie. Diners can order a la carte or if you want a bit of each, you can go for a choice of 4 different cured meats at $38 regular or $46 large. We had the 777 Duck Breast Prosciutto ($16), 5J Jamon Iberico ($22) and Szechuan Peppered Swordfish Belly Ham ($16). My favourite is the duck breast prosciuto for its deep flavour that has been cured for 21 hours, smoked for 7 hours and dry aged for 7 days.

Plentyfull6
Organic Tofu Caprese 4.5/5

The next dish we tried is the Organic Tofu Caprese ($16). The smooth and silky tofu is dressed in an aged ponzu sauce with plum tomatoes, shallots and seeds. Tofu is known to be quite tasteless but this turned out to be a dish packed with complex but yet delicious flavours, refreshing and enjoyable. The plum tomatoes were extremely sweet too.

Plentyfull13
House Flat Bread 4.2/5

Do you know that Plentyfull made their own bread and butter? The best way to appreciate them is the House Flat Bread ($12) which comes with nori butter, elderflower caramel & EVO oil. My favourite is the nori butter with that extra hint of saltiness that went very well with the flat bread.

Plentyfull10
Seasonal Vegetable Tart 4.5/5

For the Seasonal Vegetable Tart ($16), this week we had the carrot tart. A layer of carrot puree sits on top of a crispy tart base that tasted like chicken twisties. This is crowned by a beautiful garden of vegetables held together excellently by the black garlic gem.

Plentyfull16
Grilled Spiced Lamb Ribs 3/5

Moving on to the mains, we tried the Grilled Spiced Lamb Ribs ($30). The slow cooked lamb ribs are served with smoked yogurt, edamame and horseradish. I could taste cumin and star anise on top of other spices and the smokey flavour. However I thought the meat was a bit overcooked and tough.

Plentyfull18
5 Spiced Duck Leg Confit 3.5/5

Next we had the 5 Spiced Duck Leg Confit ($28) with cucumber, radish salad and mantou. While the duck skin is slightly crisp, the meat felt short of being confit. It felt more like having a braised duck. I am not saying it is not good but kind of misleading with the menu.

Plentyfull14
Beetroot Risotto 4.5/5

My favourite dish at Plentyfull has to be the Beetroot Risotto ($24). The natural colouring from the beetroot made the risotto looks very appetizing. I was very eager to dig into the plate of arborio rice cooked with a medley of beetroot and pecorino cheese. This is a plate of goodness with the beetroot sweetness and cheesy percorino coming together beautifully on the palate.

Plentyfull23
Coconut Creme Brulee 4/5

For dessert, we tried the Coconut Creme Brulee ($14) which consists of coconut ribbons, salted gula melaka ice cream. Once again, I felt that the naming is a bit confusing. Except for the coconut ribbons, there is nothing actually taste coconut. Technically the creme brulee has coconut but the pandan flavour is more distinct. It should have named kaya or pandan creme brulee.

Plentyfull22
Miso Souffle 4.2/5

Not to be missed on the dessert menu is the Miso Souflle ($16) with toasted walnut ice cream. The light and pillowy souffle was so soft that I nearly fell into dreamland.

I am glad to have visited Plentyfull. The all day dual concept restaurant, patisserie and gourmet grocer not only dish out beautifully plated food, they are deliciously made from scratch too. It definitely worth a return to try more of the dishes on the menu.

Note: This is an invited tasting.

IMG_8610ed
Cold Seafood 3.8/5

I visited Silver Shell Cafe on a Monday which is the Feast of Rasa theme that features an array of international cuisines. I started with some refreshing Crab Salad and followed with some fresh harvests from the sea.

IMG_8594ed

IMG_8597ed
Vietnamese Beef Noodle 3.5/5

IMG_8611ed
Laksa 4/5

To warm my stomach a bit, I headed to the live noodle station and tried both the Vietnamese Beef Noodle and Laksa. Cooked to order, it is perfect for those looking for something soupy and comforting.

IMG_8588ed

IMG_8599ed
Cheese Garlic Naan 4.5/5

IMG_8604ed
Tandoori Chicken 3.5/5

One of my favourite stations at Silver Shell Cafe is the Indian station. The beautiful smell of spices perfumed the air from the array of curry dishes on the spread. A must try is the Cheese Garlic Naan. Crispy on the exterior yet fluffy inside from the cheese stuffing. I would also recommend having some of the fish curry and dal to go with the naan.

IMG_8585ed

IMG_8586ed
Char Siew 3.5/5

For those that is looking for a good Hong Kong Roast, you can head to the Chinese station when you can satisfy with the selection of roasts such as roasted duck, roasted pork belly, roasted chicken and char siew.

IMG_8603ed
Clam in White Wine 4.2/5

At the station, I would recommend trying the Clam in Chinese Wine. The sweetness of the clam is further elevated from the aromatic Chinese wine sauce.

IMG_8616ed
Souffle 4/5

IMG_8617ed
Cheese Cake 4/5

Wrapping up the dinner we head to the dessert corner and had the Souffle and Cheese Cake. Lucky I have saved some stomach space for desserts. It seems like the kitchen has a very good pastry chef. I enjoyed both the souffle and cheese cake. It is not easy to do a good souffle and I think the chef nailed it. Furthermore, this is probably the first buffet restaurant that serves souffle.

IMG_8583ed

What makes Silver Shell Cafe different from other restaurants is their thoughtfulness. The family friendly restaurant not only has a kid's corner but recently added the Baby Zone which provides complimentary baby food, in addition to value-added amenities such as milk bottle sterilizers, microwave, baby dining utensils, baby wipes and diapers.

Artemis Grill @ CapitaGreen

IMG_4033ed

Opened in 16 November 2015, Artemis Grill is the latest restaurant in Singapore F&B scene located on level 40 of CapitaGreen with a stunting view of the Marina bay area. Artemis Grill menu brings to the Singapore shore, the best in organic Mediterranean and sustainable dining.

IMG_4034ed
Homemade Bread with Dukkah Spice and Olive Oil 4/5

After placing our order, we were served complimentary Homemade Bread with Dukkah Spice and Olive Oil. The black stuff in the picture is the Dukkah Spice. This is my first time having bread with it and I enjoyed the different experience.

IMG_4039ed
Alaskan Crabs Salad 4.5/5

Dinner began with the Alaskan Crabs Salad ($28) that is paired with grilled pimento peppers, avocado and tomato petals. I was told that the chef wants the guest to enjoy the freshness and natural sweetness of the crab meat and hence it is intentionally served in chunky pieces, I applauded the thought as I got to enjoy the delicious crustacean meat to the fullest.

IMG_4053ed
Beetroot Tortellini 4/5

The Beetroot Tortellini ($20/$30) looks like little roses on my plate. The beetroot tortellini is stuffed with feta and ricotta, and served with asparagus, broccolini and carrot puree. The filling of the tortellini may come across a bit heavy for some. I would advice having it together with the sweet carrot puree for a more balance in flavour.

IMG_4046ed
Maine Lobster Tail 3.8/5

From the grill section, we have the Maine Lobster Tail 900g ($90) with Corn and Potato Fricassee, drizzled with lobster jus. I enjoyed the fact that the lobster meat is grilled to a delectable crunchy bite, not over cooked. However it felt that some parts of it was burnt, giving it a bitter taste instead of the smokiness from the grill.

IMG_4057ed
Spicy Iberico Pork Presa 4.5/5

An interesting and surprised dish is the Spicy Iberico Pork Presa ($40) with Tomato Relish and Padron Peppers. We usually wants our meat to be tender and moist but this is completely opposite. The iberico pork is actually quite dry. However, that is the surprising part, the more you bite or chew into it, the flavour seems to tease you more. Unknowingly, you continue to indulge in the flavour as you have more of it. It's like enjoying a piece of dried cuttlefish or bak kwa.

IMG_4059ed
Crispy Heirloom Cauliflower 4.2/5

Besides the mains from the grill, we also order the Crispy Heirloom Cauliflower ($14) with lemon zest, almond, tarragon and spicy aoli from the side menu. It is like a mini cauliflower garden with the different color of cauliflowers. Among the various cauliflowers, the lightly battered tempura cauliflower is my favourite.

IMG_4067ed
Chocolate Trio 4/5

Richness on a plate is the Chocolate Trio ($18). The chocolate haven consists of Valhorona chocolate tart, mocha ice cream and passionfruit chocolate cake. However it was the robust mocha ice cream that stole my heart among the trio.

IMG_4072ed
Apricot & Lavender Souffle 4.2/5

It will be worthwhile to wait for 20 minutes for the Apricot & Lavender Souffle ($20). The unique combination is a good chance from the norm. I am not a sweet tooth person and hence I enjoyed the tartness of the souffle. If you do not have a good tolerance of sourness, I would recommend pouring the walnut creme anglaise into the souffle and have it together with the vanilla ice cream to neutralize it.

IMG_4074ed
Apricot & Lavender Souffle 4.2/5

Artemis Grill is definitely one of the best dining experience for me in 2015. I am already planning for for next visit to impress my guest with the food as well as the breathtaking view from the rooftop at level 40.

Sprigs @ Purvis Street

IMG_3562ed

Sometimes, all it takes is just a sprig of herbs to bring a dish up a notch. That is what Sprigs aspires to - to convey a sense of simplicity which a touch of sophiscation and refinement in the small details. Located at Purvis Street, its design is relatively quiet compared to its neighbours, which I feel makes it a good option for diners who are looking for somewhere more quaint and chill at this area.

IMG_3564ed
Roasted Vel Carpaccio (100g) 2.5/5

IMG_3565ed
Baby Squid 'A la Placha' 3.8/5

Its new menu has assimilated a more adventurous flair to its rustic European demeanour, which is rather evident in both their starters - Roasted Vel Carpaccio ($22) and Baby Squid 'A la Placha' ($22).  Although the roasted veal were thinly sliced, its luscious texture remains, and was further aided by the creamy tuna-favoured tonnato sauce seeping and egg confit atop.  However, I very much prefer the latter. A Spanish dish with baby squid served on Sunny side up, along with toasty crumbs and lomo iberico, not only it is textually more exciting, it also has more layers of flavour. Although it looks kind of bits and pieces, I find every spoonful of it really yummy, especially the crispy squid bits.

IMG_3567ed
Black Bershire Pork Chop (300g) 4/5

IMG_3570ed
Chilean Seabass 4/5

Moving on to mains, the Chilean Seabass ($40++) is my favourite. The fish was very well done, which was tender with a nicely crisp side. The tangy sauce vierge (a French sauce) goes really well with its buttery texture, and the lomo iberico complements its mild flavour as well. Second to that would be its Black Bershire Pock Chop ($45). I love its juiciness and rich flavour, which was well balanced by the use of butter lime sauce.

IMG_3572ed
New Zealand Rack of Lamb  2/5

As for the New Zealand Rack of Lamb ($38) dish, it is just too heavy for me. I don't think that the spicy Aubergine Cavier and the Au Jus are good accompaniments to the meat at all.

IMG_3574ed
Frozen Mandarin Souffle 3.5/5

I had one of the most delightful savoury desserts of all time! Tete De Moine Cheese ($12), a savoury dessert crafted using a dessert cheese from Switzerland. Shaved into delicate rosette in front of you, they are then being placed onto the toast which is served with quince paste. The dessert cheese is so light that it kind of melted in my mouth along with the buttery toast. The quince paste was so yummy that I thought it was made in house. As for the Frozen Mandarin Souffle ($12), it was tangy and refreshing, but I find it a little too sweet.

IMG_3578ed
Tete De Moine Cheese 4.5/5

To be honest, I find the pricing slightly too steep. That said, from starters to desserts, there is no doubt to Sprigs' standard and quality of its team. However, its identity may need some strengthening so as to stand out from its "much louder" neighbours along Purvis Street.
