The dainty savoury tarts feature interesting flavour combinations such as the stone crabmeat salad with pink grapefruit and mentaiko dressing, greenland shrimp with raspberry mango aioli and beetroot cream cheese with forest berries compote. The fruit zestiness added a refreshing twist to the seafood.

The fried food section includes the juicy baked Mexican-style chicken mid-joint wings, crispy cheese croquette, spam fries and popcorn chicken.

One of our favourites is the mini pork burger with seafood cutlet and mentaiko mayonnaise. The seafood cutlet was superbly tender, which paired well with the mentaiko sauce.

Cowaramup Roadhouse @ Telok Blangah Road - Australian Roadhouse Style Family Restaurant & Bar

Cowaramup26

Newly opened along Telok Blangah Road is Cowaramup Roadhouse, an Australian roadhouse style family restaurant and bar by Mooloolabar and Kitchen by JT. It replaces the now-defunct San Laksa Steamboat. Customers can look forward to an extensive menu featuring a wide variety of starters, grilled skewers, gourmet meats, sharing platters, kids and weekend breakfast. It even has a dog-friendly alfresco dining area.

CowaramupExterior-5

Since Cowaramup is an Australian roadhouse-style restaurant, I just have to kick start the dinner with a few beer glasses.

Cowaramup5
Veal Sweetbread 3.5/5

From the starters, we had the Veal Sweetbread ($18) to kickstart our dinner. The deep-fried breaded veal nuggets are incredibly tender, an ideal munch to go with a few drinks. It is a change from the usual fries and chicken wings.

Cowaramup10
Seafood Skewer 3.8/5

A delightful starter is the Seafood Skewer ($25 for 2pc), comprising of tiger prawn wrapped with fish skin, squid, scallop and baby octopus. If you are not a seafood person, there are other skewers such as chicken, beef, lamb, and vegetarian.

Cowaramup33
Oven-baked Barramundi 3.8/5

We started with the Oven-baked Barramundi ($22) for the mains. The huge fillet of barramundi comes wrapped in bacon, resting on a bed of creamy spinach, crowned with smoke onion rings. It is indeed value for money.

Cowaramup14
Beef Wellington 4.2/5

Suppose you have tried the western fare at Meet 4 Meat at East Coast Road by Chef Jimmy Teo for its affordable gourmet meat. In that case, you will be delighted to know that Chef Jimmy Teo curates the menu at Cowaramup. I have tried his beef wellington before, so I am glad that he had brought the dish to the West. Now, I need not travel to East Coast to savour it anymore.

Cowaramup18
Beef Wellington 4.2/5

The Beef Wellington ($34/$100/$180) comes in three weights - 200g, 500g and 1kg. The charcoal-grilled Australian beef tenderloin and mushroom duxelles are wrapped in puff pastry paired with a brown sauce and fresh herb salad. Customers who want to perk up the enjoyment further have a choice of adding foie gras.

CowaramupExterior-2

Cowaramup is a new exciting addition to the F&B scene in the west. I am glad that there is a new place near my home for me to grab a drink complemented with affordable Western fares. I am looking forward to my next visit to try more of the dishes curated by Chef Jimmy Teo, especially his Duck Wellington and Chicken Parmigiana.

Ash & Elm @ InterContinental Singapore - Celebrate Hygge With New Nordic Sunday Champagne Brunch

AshNElm2

Ash & Elm at Intercontinental Singapore launches a new Nordic-themed champagne brunch, inspired by the culinary philosophy from the wintery Northern Europe regions. Besides the classic Nordic dishes, the buffet also showcases a variety of the finest produce flown in exclusively from Iceland, Finland and Norway.

AshNElm39

Products and dishes from the likes of Finland and Iceland were not commonly found in Singapore, which is why Chef Eric Neo, Singapore's first Nordic-Asia Culinary Ambassador, appointed in 2018, heads up this Nordic Sunday Champagne Brunch in order to bring awareness to this exquisite cuisine and enhance food diversity in Singapore at the same time.

AshNElm26

Kickstart the feast with the dainty appetisers from the mini appetisers gallery. We loved how plump and juicy the shrimps were for the Shrimp Salad with Dill and Capers, while the Beetroot and Gin Cured Salmon with Pickled Cucumber was a refreshing combination.

AshNElm27

Another refreshing appetiser is the new Potato Salad with hard-boiled egg. The addition of the apples added a subtle sweetness to the sourish pickles.

AshNElm35

AshNElm37

Indulge in a slew of crowd favourite dishes such as the Pan-seared Salmon with lemon herb and butter sauce, and tender Lamb and Cabbage Stew with Black Pepper from the Hot Food section.

AshNElm32

For meat lovers, head over to the live station for their succulent Beef Wellington, and Parchment Roasted Cod with fennel, lemon and tomatoes.

AshNElm5

Not to be missed is their premium seafood on ice presented on a long table, including the chilled tiger prawns, black mussels, Boston lobsters, clams, Finnish crayfish, and shucked oysters with condiments and sauce.

AshNElm38

A selection of caviar and roe, such as Queen Kaluga Caviar, Ikura, Avruga, Wasabi Tobkio, Ebiko are displayed on the caviar counter with condiments and blinis.

AshNElm11

End the meal on a sweet note with their dazzling array of desserts from the Rhubarb Cake, Summer Berries Pie to the Lingonberry Creme Brulee.

AshNElm15

For something lighter, opt for some ice cream from their ice cream counter, with popular flavours such as the green tea and Thai milk tea. Don't forget to dip the condiments provided into their chocolate fountain too.

AshNElm22

Elevate the brunch experience with a handcrafted gin cocktail, Aurora, inspired by the Northern lights. Concocted using Metsis Gin, specially imported from Estonia for brunch. It is available for top-up at $15 nett per glass.

AshNElm34

The Nordic Sunday Champagne Brunch is available every Sunday from 6 October to 17 November 2019 from 12pm to 3pm, at $148++ (includes unlimited Taittinger Champagne, cocktails, house wines, beers, soft drinks and juices) or $98++ (includes unlimited cocktails, soft drinks and juices) per adult, and $48++ (includes unlimited soft drinks and juices) per child.

Known for its marbling and tender texture due to the special cereal-based diet feed and stress-free environment the Dingley Dell pig is reared in, the pork rack is brined with Chef's Ian secret recipe brining mix for 12 hours to tenderise the meat and enhance its flavours. It goes well with the house made pineapple sauce which provides a tangy flvour to the dish.

Considered as one of the most flavoursome cuts of beef, its Whiskey-Aged US Angus Beef Prime Ribs flaunts a fine-grained texture and generous marbling. The meat is dry-aged in house for 14 days by being wrapped in a cloth soaked in bourbon, before being slow roasted to a perfect medium rare doneness, boasting tenderness and succulence in each bite.

TheCarvery8
Spit-roasted Chicken with Truffle 4/5

Pre-soaked for up to 24 hours in a special brine full of fresh herbs and vegetables, the Spit-roasted Chicken with Truffle is further slathered with house-made truffle butter inside and out which imparts a distinct truffle aroma and retains the succulence of the meat at the same time.

TheCarvery3
Beef Wellington 3.8/5

The Beef Wellington features a hunk of fillet steak coated with duxelles before being wrapped in a golden crusty puff pastry and baked.
