1864 The Bar @ Sofitel Singapore City Centre - Sofitel x Sulwhasoo Launches a New Sulwhasoo Cafe Experience

Choc orange cake-2

Following the success of their previous ginseng-themed afternoon tea collaboration last year, Sofitel Singapore City Centre and Sulwhasoo have reunited to launch a new K-beauty and wellness-inspired pop-up café experience - the Sulwhasoo Café. Together, they invite guests to indulge in a journey of inner radiance and self-care.

Poster-1

Running from 17 May to 13 July 2025, the exclusive Sulwhasoo Café is open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the hotel’s 1864 Lobby Lounge in Sofitel Singapore City Centre. This limited-time café concept blends the time-honoured principles of Korean holistic wellness with the refined techniques of French cuisine. Each dish draws inspiration from Sulwhasoo’s signature skincare range, with ingredients ranging from ginseng, collagen, jujube, Nashi pear, and mugwort.

The Sulwhasoo Café menu features eight dishes and two beverages, all available à la carte. However, for the best value, ordering a set menu is recommended. Guests can choose between a two-course menu ($45++), which includes a starter or dessert and a main course, or the three-course menu ($65++), which offers a complete experience with a starter, main course, and dessert.

4 piece sulwhasoo skincare set-2

To make the dining experience even more memorable, guests will receive complimentary Sulwhasoo beauty kits with qualifying spends:

· A three-piece Daily Routine Kit (worth $60) with a minimum spend of $40++.
· A four-piece Anti-Aging Kit (worth $110) when ordering the three-course set menu at $65++.

These gifts are available while stocks last, and qualifying spend applies only to items ordered from the Sulwhasoo Café menu.

Tuna hwe-2
Tuna Hwe 4.2/5

For starters, guests have the choice between two hot options and a cold option:

The beautifully plated Tuna Hwe ($28) features chopped tuna tossed in a spicy calamansi chojang, topped with a silky egg yolk gel, and complemented by perilla, sesame, and pine nuts. Crisp rice wafers accompany the dish, allowing diners to scoop the tuna on top for an added layer of texture.

Black Sesame & Ginseng Samgyetang Pao Fan-2
Black Sesame & Ginseng Samyetang Pao Fan 4/5

The Black Sesame & Ginseng Samgyetang Pao Fan ($26) is a reimagined version of the traditional ginseng chicken soup. It's served pao fan-style, with a warm chicken collagen broth poured over a comforting bed of tender chicken slices, rice puffs, and leeks. It's easy to drink, very gentle and clean-tasting, although I prefer a more flavourful broth.

Creamy kimchi with tteok-3
Creamy Kimchi with Tteok 4.5/5

My favourite starter of the three was the Creamy Kimchi with Tteok ($24), which takes its cue from Korean budae jjigae (army stew) but cleverly uses a zucchini stew base with gochujang to offer a vegetarian option for guests. Topped with a slow-cooked egg and parmesan and featuring crispy, chewy tteokbokki (rice cakes), the dish tastes more like a Korean interpretation of shakshuka. Very delicious and hearty

Doenjang Chicken with Yeonnibap -2
Doenjang Chicken with Yeonnibap 4.2/5

Moving on to the main courses, there are also three options on the menu: Doenjang Chicken with Yeonnibap, Blackened Salmon with Clam Doenjang, and a vegetarian Naengmyeon.

The Doenjang Chicken with Yeonnibap ($34) features tender slices of chicken marinated in fermented soybean paste. Accompanying the chicken is glutinous rice mixed with a medley of ginkgo nuts, adzuki beans, jujube, and pumpkin seeds, adding to its nutritional value and taste. The rice is aromatic and subtly sweet. Slices of tamagoyaki-style omelette round off this tasty dish.

Salmon-2
Blackened Salmon with Clam Doenjang 4.5/5

The Blackened Salmon with Clam Doenjang ($38) is really good and is my favourite main course dish. The salmon flesh is moist and flaky, bathed in a beurre noisette, and it is accompanied by clams, sauteed daikon, and capers. It is a well-balanced and delicious combination.

naengmyeon-2
Naengmyeon 3.8/5

The Naengmyeon ($30) features buckwheat noodles immersed in a chilled black goji berry broth, which lends the soup a vibrant purple hue. Toppings include slices of Nashi pear, purple cabbage, and a boiled egg. The broth is quite refreshing, and the noodles are nice and chewy. However, I must admit that cold noodles have never been my favourite food as I'll always prefer noodles in hot soup. Hence, this dish may appeal more to those who appreciate this Korean speciality.

Choc orange cake-3
Insam and Cointreau Gâteaux 4.2/5

For dessert, diners can choose between two elegant creations.

The first is an Insam and Cointreau Gâteaux ($22), a decadent treat made with dark chocolate subtly infused with Cointreau and mandarin orange gel and finished with ginseng (insam) dusting. Rich, bittersweet, and slightly citrusy, this dessert is a lovely choice for chocolate lovers.

Peach Collagen Consommé-2
Peach Collagen Consommé 4.2/5

The second option is an equally good Peach Collagen Consommé ($19), a nourishing bowl packed with wholesome, traditional ingredients. It features soft poached peach, peach gum, and white fungus, all steeped in a subtly sweet consommé. On the side, jujube walnuts add some crunch. This dessert will particularly appeal to those who enjoy light, healthy, and heritage-inspired sweets. While it’s served chilled by default, diners can also request it to be served warm.

There are also two interesting drink options: the cold Ssukcha Mango Fizz ($9) made with mugwort tea, mango, and tonic, and their take on the viral Korean classic of hot Dalgona Coffee ($9) with milk and whipped coffee foam.

Whether you're a skincare enthusiast, a fan of Korean cuisine, or someone looking for a unique dining experience, this limited-time pop-up is a fun option. The dishes show care in both presentation and ingredient pairing and will be especially enjoyable for those who enjoy lighter, health-focused flavours with a creative twist. With the added perk of receiving Sulwhasoo beauty kits with your meal, there's now even more reason to treat yourself!

Golden Moments Durian Cafe @ Bugis - Durian-themed Afternoon Tea at Its First Flagship Durian Cafe

IMG_9400

Golden Moments, renowned for its fresh durian and durian-based desserts (such as its trending durian mooncakes and various durian cakes), has launched its first flagship durian cafe in Bugis, Golden Moments Durian Cafe. The cafe offers both vacuum-packed fresh durians and an expanded menu of durian and non-durian creations.

IMG_9405
The Golden Durian Swirl 3.5/5

We began with the highlight, The Golden Durian Swirl ($62), which included four fresh durian pieces (Black Gold Mao Shan Wang and Black Thorn), two Golden Mao Shan Wang QQ, a slice of D24 Strudel, and two beverages.

IMG_9418

We were served a Sour Plum Smoothie and Homemade Lemon Tea for our two beverages. We preferred the latter, which was less sweet and more refreshing to complement the sweets.

IMG_9416

The fresh durians we had were indeed of good quality.

IMG_9414

IMG_9419

Between the Golden Mao Shan Wang QQ and D24 Strudel, we leaned towards the strudel, as we preferred a thinner skin on the QQs, though both durian fillings were satisfying.

IMG_9451
Signature MSW Durian Bomb 4/5

Next, we sampled more durian desserts, starting with the Signature MSW Durian Bomb ($12 for 3). The crisp cookie-crust puffs were fresh and filled with durian puree, which we wished there was more of for a better ratio.

IMG_9452

IMG_9457
Pandan MSW Durian Cake 4.2/5

Our favourite durian treat of the day was the Pandan MSW Durian Cake, featuring soft pandan chiffon layered with durian-infused mousse. The mild sweetness and delicate balance stood out, while the crumble topping added a delightful texture.

IMG_9432

IMG_9439
Golden 3 Hours Crab Noodles 3.8/5

Moving to savoury options, we tried the Golden 3 Hours Crab Noodles ($16.80). The noodles came with prawns, crab balls, and half an egg in a rich crab broth. An extra side of crab meat was provided to enhance the dish, though the flavourful broth could feel heavy quite quickly.

IMG_9444
Grilled Chicken Yakitori 3.5/5

For sides, we had the Grilled Chicken Yakitori ($10), which featured pretty tender chicken cubes glazed in a sweet-savoury sauce with mayonnaise.

IMG_9423

IMG_9428
Mentaiko Bonito Fries 3/5

The Mentaiko Bonito Fries ($10) were decently crisp and substantial, though we found the mentaiko mayonnaise lacking in intensity.

During our visit, we noticed the cafe was slightly understaffed, which caused some delays in order preparation — something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry.

TUX Bar & Lounge @ Carlton Hotel Singapore - Newly Crafted Afternoon High Tea Set at $39 Per Pax

IMG_9102

TUX Bar & Lounge, located within Carlton Hotel Singapore, is a short walk from Bras Basah and City Hall MRT stations. This stylish lounge offers a cosy setting for intimate gatherings and features various promotions, including Happy Hour (4 to 7 pm daily) and Ladies' Night (4 to 11 pm on Wednesdays).

IMG_9096

Most recently, TUX introduced its new Afternoon High Tea Set, which is also available at Tuxedo Cafe & Patisserie on weekends from 1 to 4 pm. Guests can enjoy it in the lounge or the newly opened alfresco dining area.

IMG_9103
Afternoon High Tea Set 4/5

The set is priced at $39 per person (minimum two diners) and includes a curated mix of handcrafted sweet and savoury delights paired with coffee or tea. For a touch of indulgence, diners can opt for two glasses of Elderflower Gin Fizz or Pol Remy Excellence at $108 for two. These alcoholic options are also available à la carte at $22 per glass.

IMG_9132

With six coffee and tea options available, we opted for the Elegant Earl Grey and Acai Berry Pomegranate & Vanilla.

IMG_9112

We tucked into the tea, starting with the savoury tower. It included a decent range of Mushroom Quiche, Tuna Sandwich, Egg Mayo Croissant, and Fruity Avocado & Honey Walnut Coulis.

IMG_9107

Traditional English and Raisin Scones were also included, accompanied by classic clotted cream, strawberry, and blueberry yuzu jam.

IMG_9118

The highlight of the sweets tower was the Tuxedo Signature Cake, which changes regularly. During our visit, we had the Kumquat Hazelnut - a crisp-based dessert filled with rich, nutty chocolate that carried a tangy touch.

IMG_9116

IMG_9123

Other sweets included Handcrafted Bonbon, Mini Honey Apricot Pistachio, Pina Colada Verrine, Mini Matcha Financier with Yoghurt Cream, Blueberry Cheese Tartlet, and Chocolate Raspberry Verrine.

IMG_9117

While the rest of the selection was pleasant, we found the Mini Matcha Financier’s matcha flavour milder than expected.

IMG_9134

IMG_9137
Combo Platter Selection 4.2/5

Additionally, we sampled the Combo Platter Selection ($38) from the bar’s à la carte menu, ideal for 2 to 3 diners. It featured chicken satay, prawn cakes, fish fingers, marmite chicken wings, and pork skewers.

IMG_9140

Though initially had no expectations, we were pleasantly surprised by the piping-hot, well-executed items. Our favourites were the tender chicken satay and juicy pork skewers.

Ginger.Lily @ Hilton Singapore Orchard - Discover The New Third Chapter of Ginger.Lily’s Storybook-inspired Teatime Soirée

IMG_1628

Ginger.Lily at Hilton Singapore Orchard is back with the third chapter of its storybook-inspired afternoon tea series, showcasing a refined fusion of Executive Pastry Chef Cindy Khoo’s French pastry expertise and passion for Japanese artistry.

IMG_1629
Ginger.Lily Afternoon Tea 3.8/5

This afternoon tea, priced at $68++ per person with a minimum of two diners, includes a glass of cocktail or mocktail and two pots of tea.

Two seatings are available daily: 1pm to 3pm, and 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

IMG_1622
Prologue

Start your experience with a mocktail or cocktail. The Sparkling Peach Mocktail offers a refreshing blend of Moscato grapes and natural peach juice, while the Yuzu Breeze cocktail intrigues with a combination of Cirka vodka, whipping cream, yuzu essence, and soda water.

We were spoilt for choice for our pots of tea, from its extensive tea list which includes oolong tea, black tea, white tea, green tea, and non-caffeinated herbal tea.

IMG_1623
Savouries I

The first savouries, the Truffle Croque Monsieur Twist and Mediterranean Pesto Twist were served in crisp pastry shells. The Mediterranean Pesto Twist stood out with its well-balanced blend of sweetness from sun-dried tomatoes, nutty truffle cream cheese, and herbaceous pesto.

IMG_1625

IMG_1626
Savouries II

Next, the Basque Brioche with Smoked Duck was presented, offering house-smoked duck on red pesto-infused smoked paprika brioche.

The Miso Brioche with Scallops followed, showcasing Japanese flavours with wasabi-yuzu mayo, tobiko, katsuobushi, and white miso brioche.

IMG_1627
Pre-dessert

Before the main sweets course, we were treated to a Pre-dessert: Poached Pears in Blackcurrant Wine, creatively and deliciously paired with sour cream ice cream and mint jelly.

IMG_1631
Sweets

The highlight of the tea was the elegant turquoise drawer of sweets. It contained a total of eight exquisite desserts and two types of scones, which are recommended to be savoured from top to bottom.

IMG_1636
Pistachio “Flan Parisien” with Orange Blossom

IMG_1632
Violet Chocolate Gateau

We started with standouts from the first two rows, such as the Ginger.Lily Chouquettes incorporated flavours from the restaurant's signature tea blend and the Violet Chocolate Gateau, combining banana jam, milk chocolate mousse, and a tangy raspberry finish.

IMG_1633
Ruby Baba

However, the last two rows of desserts, such as the Ruby Baba and Botanique En Fleurs 68% Macadamia Cookies, paled in comparison. The Ruby Baba was a little too dry, while the cookies were much sweeter than we would have liked.

IMG_1634
Tahitian Vanilla & Jersey Oat Scones

The tea concludes with Tahitian Vanilla & Jersey Oat Scones, served alongside mixed berries compote, orange cinnamon confit, and crème fraîche.
