Cafe Quenino @ Artyzen Hotel Singapore - New Concept: Build Your Table The Way You Like. Any Plates, Any Combination

CafeQueninoMar2026-19

Set within the stylish enclave of Artyzen Singapore, Cafe Quenino introduces a refreshed dining concept that reimagines Singapore's beloved "tze char" culture in a contemporary Orchard setting. Anchored by the philosophy of "tze char comfort for today's table" and a communal format of "plates for the table, shared your way", the experience encourages diners to curate their own feast from a diverse menu of Southeast Asian flavours.

CafeQueninoInterior-1

The ordering format is straightforward and convivial. Guests can choose from 3, 5, or 7 plates, paired with sides depending on the selected tier — much like ordering a spread at a traditional tze char establishment. Dishes span starters, mains, larger plates and desserts, all designed for sharing in the middle of the table.

- 3 Plates + Choice of 2 Sides: $88
- 5 Plates + Choice of 3 Sides: $138
- 7 Plates + Choice of 4 Sides: $188

For our visit, we opted for the 5-plate format, with a balanced spread of 2 appetisers, 2 mains, and 1 dessert.

CafeQueninoMar2026-3
Heirloom Tomato Salad 4.2/5

We started with the Heirloom Tomato Salad, a vibrant medley of coloured tomatoes paired with buffalo mozzarella, basil, shallots and a black vinegar dressing. It was light yet refreshing, whetting the appetite with its bright acidity and clean flavours.

CafeQueninoMar2026-16
King Salmon Sashimi 4.2/5

Another starter, the King Salmon Sashimi, impressed with its generous portion and quality. The salmon was fresh and buttery, elevated by chilli and black bean accents, while a squeeze of calamansi added a zesty lift that brought the dish together beautifully.

CafeQueninoMar2026-25
Pineapple Assam Prawn 4.2/5

Moving on to the mains, the Pineapple Assam Prawn delivered robust flavours. The prawns were complemented by cherry tomatoes and okra, all coated in a tangy, spicy tamarind sauce. The balance of sweet, sour, and heat worked harmoniously, highlighting the prawns' natural sweetness.

CafeQueninoMar2026-27
Ayam Percik 4/5

The Ayam Percik featured half a spring chicken, offering a hearty portion perfect for sharing. The chicken was tender and sat atop a bed of aromatic percik sauce, finished with an onion herb salad that added a fresh contrast.

CafeQueninoMar2026-29
French Fries with Aioli 4.8/5

CafeQueninoMar2026-30
Garlic Roasted Baby Potato Curry Leaves 4.2/5

To complement the mains, we had the Coconut Basmati Rice, which paired especially well with the richly flavoured dishes. The French Fries with Aioli turned out to be a standout — crisp on the outside, fluffy within, and highly addictive. The Garlic Roasted Baby Potato with Curry Leaves offered a more aromatic alternative, with earthy notes enhanced by the fragrance of curry leaves.

CafeQueninoMar2026-44
Coconut Pandan Burnt Cheesecake 3.8/5

The meal ended with the Coconut Pandan Burnt Cheesecake, a localised take on the classic dessert. Infused with pandan and accompanied by coconut whipped cream and grated coconut gula melaka, it delivered familiar flavours. However, the texture leaned denser than expected, lacking the molten centre that would have elevated the indulgence.

Overall, the new concept at Cafe Quenino successfully captures the essence of communal tze char dining while presenting it in a polished, modern format. The flexibility to mix and match dishes across categories makes it an appealing option for groups, offering both variety and a sense of familiarity with a contemporary twist.

Cafe Quenino @ Artyzen Singapore - Celebrating SG60 with Local Flavours and a Nostalgic Kaya Collaboration

CafeQuenino26

In celebration of Singapore's 60th birthday, Café Quenino at Artyzen Singapore launches The Heart of SG60, a six-month culinary campaign running from May to October 2025. This gastronomic journey pays tribute to local flavours, people, and stories that define Singapore's culinary identity. Each month features guest collaborations, heritage partners, and menus that showcase Singapore's diverse food culture in a uniquely local light.

For June, Café Quenino partners with the iconic Chin Mee Chin, the beloved East Coast confectionery celebrating its 100th anniversary. For the first time, Chin Mee Chin's famed kaya is now available beyond its flagship store, thanks to this exclusive, year-long collaboration.

CafeQuenino1

A must-try from the bar is the Kaya Toastini ($26), part of the campaign's Spirit of Singapore cocktail programme curated by Senior Mixologist Sathya. Served in a nostalgic kopi cup with a slice of kaya butter toast (made with kaya from Chin Mee Chin), the cocktail blends Roberto Cavalli vodka, coffee liqueur, and kopi, striking a balance between bold, bittersweet, and creamy flavours. It's a playful yet nostalgic drink that bridges the heritage of traditional mixology with modern techniques. It is a true crowd-pleaser.

CafeQuenino6
Ora King Salmon Sashimi 4/5

The meal begins with Ora King Salmon Sashimi, delicately paired with chilli and black bean, which give a punchy umami lift to the buttery salmon. A squeeze of calamansi brightens the flavours even more. It was light, refreshing, and appetising.

CafeQuenino11
Heirloom Tomato Salad 3.5/5

Next is the Heirloom Tomato Salad, a simple yet flavourful medley of sweet heirloom tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil, and shallots, finished with a black vinegar dressing. Clean and vibrant, this dish is a palate refresher with just the right acidity to balance the richness of the main courses.

CafeQuenino15
Ayam Percik 4/5

The Ayam Percik features tender chicken cooked in aromatic percik sauce paired with vibrant capsicum salsa and coconut basmati rice. The rice was a standout. It was fragrant and fluffy, garnering praise from diners. The percik sauce could be more robust and spicy to match the full-bodied profile it typically carries. A side of sambal or chilli dip would round out the dish nicely.

CafeQuenino24
Hainanese Beef Brisket 4/5

As part of the collaboration, Chin Mee Chin reimagines the traditional Hainanese Beef Brisket in a modern light. The tender, slow-braised beef is paired with Café Quenino’s silky mashed potatoes, offering a comforting and creamy base. Accompanied by pickled onions and a crisp garden salad, the dish strikes a harmonious balance between nostalgic flavours and contemporary finesse—a thoughtful nod to heritage with a refreshing twist.

CafeQuenino29
Kaya Mille-feuille 4.2/5

To end on a sweet note, the Kaya Mille-feuille is a nostalgic dessert that layers Chin Mee Chin's kaya, mango lychee, and coconut ice cream between crispy pastry. It evoked fond memories of childhood, reminiscent of kaya spread on cream crackers. It is a clever reinterpretation that respects tradition while adding new textures and flavours.

Café Quenino's "The Heart of SG60" series is more than just a dining experience. It's a celebration of memory, identity, and evolution. With Chin Mee Chin's heritage kaya now given a broader platform and new creative expressions, the campaign promises many more heartfelt stories and flavours in the months to come.

The Line @ Shangri-La Singapore - An Egg-traordinary Spring Feast Buffet

IMG_2755

The Line at Shangri-La Singapore presents an Egg-traordinary Spring Feast Buffet from 3 to 27 April 2025. Expect an impressive spread that spans Western, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Southeast Asian cuisines, with unlimited servings of premium seafood such as Boston Lobster and Snow Crab.

IMG_2771
Cold Selection and Charcuterie Stations

The Cold Selection and Charcuterie Stations feature a well-curated selection of cheeses, cold cuts, and wholesome salads. One of my personal favourites was the Roasted Kabayaki Salmon Salad with Buckwheat Soba Noodles — light, flavourful, and satisfying.

IMG_2740
Creamy Salted Egg Pasta with Fried Prawn Balls

IMG_2745
Mushroom-Stuffed Chicken Roulade

The Western Station had an outstanding lineup. The Creamy Salted Egg Pasta with Fried Prawn Balls was a straightforward crowd-pleaser, while the Mushroom-Stuffed Chicken Roulade was elevated with a rich mushroom brown sauce.

IMG_2758
Miso-Glazed Barramundi with Creamed Leek

The Miso-Glazed Barramundi with Creamed Leek stood out with its succulent texture and beautiful balance of umami, sweetness, and savoury notes — definitely worth returning for seconds.

IMG_2753
Hungarian Beef Goulash

IMG_2756
Mussels with Chorizo and Cherry Tomatoes

The Mussels with Chorizo and Cherry Tomatoes paired perfectly with bread rolls, as did the hearty Hungarian Beef Goulash.

Oven-Roasted Australian Wagyu Beef MB9 Bolar Blade

IMG_2764
Traditional Malay-Style Ayam Percik

At the Carving Station, highlights included the Oven-Roasted Australian Wagyu Beef MB9 Bolar Blade with traditional gravy and Traditional Malay-Style Ayam Percik.

Roasted “Dang Gui” Duck, Roasted Pork Belly

At the Chinese BBQ Station, you can find Roasted "Dang Gui" Duck and Roasted Pork Belly.

IMG_2808
Claypot Seafood Congee

Live stations are scattered throughout the buffet line, including comforting favourites such as Popiah, Claypot Seafood Congee and Singapore Laksa, cooked à la minute.

IMG_2778
Tandoori Live Station, Satay Station

The Indian selection was equally thoughtful. It featured a Tandoori Live Station serving juicy Tandoori Chicken Thighs and a popular Satay Station offering Chicken Satay with traditional accompaniments.

IMG_2729

Desserts were a visual and flavourful delight, with dainty mini tartlets, brownies and crisp Choux Craquelin.

IMG_2728
Chocolate Truffle Cake

One of their signatures is the Chocolate Truffle Cake.

IMG_2727
Key Lime Tart

IMG_2732
Cheesecake

Both the Key Lime Tart and Cheesecake were decadent in their own right.

IMG_2820
Waffle with Ice Creams

One of the dessert highlights was the Live Mochi Waffle Station. The waffles were crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle. They were served with a variety of condiments, though I found they were best enjoyed with two scoops of ice cream for the ultimate hot-and-cold combo.

The promotion will run from 3 April to 27 April 2025, available Thursday through Sunday (excluding 20 April). Our Festive Lunch and Dinner Buffet starts from $68++ per adult for lunch and $118++ per adult for dinner. On 20 April, there will be a special Easter Sunday Brunch from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, starting from $148++ per adult.
