Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine (湘香湖南菜) @ Parkway Parade - Expanding its Footprint to 15 Outlets with New Creations

Group 1

Restaurant 1

Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine continues to win over Singaporean diners with its authentic Hunan flavours and comforting dishes. Officially opened on 15 March 2025, the 15th outlet at Parkway Parade introduces a line-up of exclusive new dishes that bring even more to love this well-loved brand.

Sizzling Claypot Chicken 1
Sizzling Claypot Chicken 4.2/5

Simmered in a claypot with a savoury housemade sauce, the Sizzling Claypot Chicken (Non-Member: $22.90, Member: $18.90) delivers a homely richness that pairs perfectly with their signature 五常米 (Wǔcháng mǐ) rice. The tender chicken soaks up the mildly spicy sauce beautifully, and we’re hoping to see this comforting dish rolled out across all outlets soon.

Stir-Fry Spicy Squid Tentacles 1
Stir-fry Spicy Squid Tentacles 3/5

Visually appealing and bold in flavour, the Stir-fry Spicy Squid Tentacles (Non-Member: $22.90, Member: $18.90) is punchy and aromatic. However, the cumin-forward profile may not suit every palate, and we found the tentacles would have benefitted from being cut into larger pieces to better retain their texture.

Braised Beef Brisket with Whole Tomato 1

Braised Beef Brisket with Whole Tomato 2
Braised Beef Brisket with Whole Tomato 3.5/5

This dish brings to mind a hearty Italian Bolognese with a twist. The Braised Beef Brisket with Whole Tomato (Non-Member: $22.90, Member: $19.90) features slow-braised brisket in a tangy tomato broth that’s rich, warming and surprisingly addictive.

Claypot Sweet & Spicy Prawns 1
Claypot Sweet and Spicy Prawns 3.8/5

As part of the brand's mainstays from other outlets in February, the Claypot Sweet and Spicy Prawns (Non-Member: $22.90, Member: $19.90) stand out. Fresh prawns are gently simmered in a claypot with a secret sauce blend that evokes a touch of spicy Japanese curry. The addition of tender potato chunks soaking up the flavour is a lovely touch.

Braised Luffa 1
Braised Luffa 3.8/5

While we usually choose cauliflower as our go-to veggie dish, the Braised Luffa (Non-Member: $15.90, Member: $12.90) surprised us with its delicate sweetness. The luffa is light and refreshing, and the dough fritters were mistaken at first glance for tau pok.

Hunan Stir-Fry Pork 1
Hunan Stir-Fry Pork 4.5/5

Our must-order at every Xiang Xiang visit, the Hunan Stir-Fry Pork ($19.90), remains a bestseller for a reason. Over 200,000 servings are sold annually. It's easy to see why. Spanish Iberico pork is stir-fried with fiery Shandong screw peppers and crunchy Yunnan white fungus, creating a crave-worthy medley of textures and spice.

Roasted Chili & Century Egg with Mashed Eggplant 1
Roasted Chili & Century Egg with Mashed Eggplant 4/5

A chilled appetiser with vivid flavour, the Roasted Chili & Century Egg with Mashed Eggplant (Non-Member: $12.90, Member: $11.90) hits all the right notes — pungent, creamy, and deeply savoury. The interplay between the smoky eggplant, spicy roasted chilli, and umami-rich century egg is absolutely moreish.

Restaurant 2

Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine's newest outlet at Parkway Parade not only expands the brand's footprint but also introduces fresh creations that highlight its commitment to flavour, quality ingredients, and thoughtful presentation. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to Hunan cuisine, this is a great time to rediscover its offerings, especially if you live in the East. We're excited to see what's next as Xiang Xiang continues its journey across Singapore.

Lao Ma Ban Mian (老媽拌麵) @ West Mall - Tainan’s Iconic Sun-Dried Guan Miao Noodles Lands in Singapore at West Mall

LaoMaBanMian3

LaoMaWestMall-8

Lao Ma Ban Mian (老媽拌麵), a beloved noodle brand from Tainan, Taiwan, has made its debut in Singapore with its first outlet at West Mall, opening on 15 April 2025. Known for its iconic sun-dried Guan Miao noodles (关庙面) crafted using traditional methods, the brand brings with it the distinct chewiness and aroma that have made it a staple in Taiwanese households. The noodles are available in two variations — wavy Guan Miao noodles that are perfect for soaking up bold sauces and soups, and traditional flat Guan Miao noodles that strike a delightful balance between smoothness and bite.

LaoMaBanMian2

LaoMaBanMian35
Dried Scallop Huadiao Chicken Noodles Soup (干贝花雕鸡汤面) 4.5/5

I tried the Dried Scallop Huadiao Chicken Noodles Soup ($16.50), a hearty bowl packed with robust flavours to kick off the meal. It featured tender, chunky chicken pieces, vegetables, mushrooms, and baby corn, all nestled in a comforting broth made by slow-simmering whole hens, Jinhua ham, and scallops. The addition of aromatic Huadiao wine elevated the overall profile, while the traditional Guan Miao noodles added a lovely, silky texture. It was a warm, soothing bowl that felt like a hug in noodle form.

LaoMaBanMian13

LaoMaBanMian36
Chilli Oil Preserved Egg & Meat Sauce Noodles (红油皮蛋肉酱面) 4.5/5

Next up was the Chilli Oil Preserved Egg & Meat Sauce Noodles ($12.50), a crowd-pleaser that brought together bold and complex flavours. The creamy, rich century egg combined with fragrant chilli oil and savoury minced meat sauce to create a beautifully umami-rich dish. The wavy Guan Miao noodles held the sauce effortlessly, allowing each bite to deliver a delightful explosion of flavour and texture.

LaoMaBanMian33
Garlic Fermented Soy Pork Chop Noodles (蒜香豆乳猪扒拌面) 4.2/5

LaoMaBanMian6
Garlic Fermented Soy Chicken Chop Noodles (蒜香豆乳猪扒拌面) 4.2/5

For those craving something closer to Taiwanese street food, the Garlic Fermented Soy Pork Chop Noodles ($15.50) and Garlic Fermented Soy Chicken Chop Noodles ($15.50) offered a satisfying alternative. The meats were marinated for over 24 hours in garlic and fermented tofu, imparting a deeply savoury and umami flavour. Between the two, I personally preferred the chicken chop for its tenderness and juiciness, though both versions complemented the dry-style Guan Miao noodles well.

LaoMaBanMian10
Blanched Vegetables with Fried Shallots 古早味油葱烫青菜 3/5

LaoMaBanMian17
French Beans with Sesame Sauce 胡麻酱四季豆 3/5

I sampled a couple of sides to accompany the main dishes. The Blanched Vegetables with Fried Shallots ($4.50) and the French Beans with Sesame Sauce ($4) were light, simple additions. While they didn't particularly stand out, they served their role as something to munch on in between the richer mains.

LaoMaBanMian41
Braised Pig's Trotter 卤猪脚 3/5

LaoMaBanMian15
Braised Beef Brisket 卤牛腩 4/5

LaoMaBanMian20
Braised Bai-Ye Tofu 百页豆腐 3/5

There's also a selection of braised items, including Braised Pig's Trotter ($9), Braised Beef Brisket ($7), and Braised Bai-Ye Tofu ($4.50). The Braised Beef Brisket stood out the most of the trio — it was fork-tender and well-infused with the savoury braising sauce. The pig's trotter had a firmer, more gelatinous texture, catering to those who enjoy the collagen-rich chewiness. As for the Bai-Ye tofu, which is firmer and more rubbery like Tian Bu La, it may appeal to Taiwanese palates, though I prefer tofu with a softer texture and more pronounced soybean flavour.

LaoMaBanMian37
Taiwanese Spicy Mala Hot Pot Rice 台式麻辣火锅饭 3.8/5

Another interesting addition to the menu was the Taiwanese Spicy Mala Hot Pot Rice ($17.50), which came with a generous mix of ingredients such as meat, prawn balls, cheese fishcake, fish dumplings, vegetables, and mushrooms. While it was hearty and packed with variety, the broth didn't quite live up to its "mala" name — it lacked the numbing spice and aromatic heat typically associated with mala dishes. It leaned more towards a sha cha (沙茶) flavour, which might leave mala lovers wanting more.

LaoMaBanMian9
Showa Pudding 昭和布丁 4/5

To end the meal on a sweet note, we had the Showa Pudding. Smooth, creamy, and comforting, it was topped with chewy pearls for a delightful contrast in texture, making it a lovely finale to the meal.

As part of its grand opening celebration, Lao Ma Ban Mian is offering an exclusive Grand Opening Promotion from 15 to 29 April 2025. Diners can enjoy the signature Chilli Oil Preserved Egg & Meat Sauce Noodles at a special price of just $5, down from the usual $12.50. On top of that, customers can sign up for a free membership programme, which offers a lifetime 10% discount on all menu items and lets diners earn points with every purchase. With its rich heritage, comforting flavours, and thoughtful promotions, Lao Ma Ban Mian brings a truly authentic Taiwanese noodle experience to the heart of Singapore.

The Orchard Cafe @ The Orchard Hotel Singapore - Lavish Buffet Featuring Finest Cut of Meats and BBQ Seafood

IMG_1834

The Orchard Cafe at The Orchard Hotel Singapore has a brand new lineup with Flaming Feast: Prime "Meats" Seafood BBQ Buffet. Running from 1 March to 4 May 2025, the feast also showcases American flavours, offering a range of BBQ meats with hearty US flavours, comforting Western fare, and indulgent desserts.

Slow Roasted US Kurobuta Pork Shoulder

Slow Roasted US Grain Fed Prime Rib

Over at the Prime Meats & Signature Carving station, you will find beastly-looking roasts and BBQ meats — Slow-Roasted US Grain-Fed Prime Rib, BBQ-smoked hickory US Beef Brisket, and Slow-Roasted US Kurobuta Pork Shoulder. While the meats were truly the stars of the offerings, given their succulency and bold flavours, the sides were delectable as well. The Yorkshire puddings were excellent with the US prime rib, and the buttery mashed potatoes for the pork shoulder were sinfully delicious.

Charcoal Grilled Meats

IMG_1808
New Orleans BBQ Prawn

Alongside the BBQ meats, the Charcoal Grill Selections features tantalising items such as Flank Steak. Short Plate, Lamp Chops and Beef Sirloin. The New Orleans BBQ Prawn offered a fresh take on their usual grilled prawns.

IMG_1837
Pumpkin Croquette, Maryland Crab Cakes, Fries, Buttermilk Chicken

Another station offered the comfort of Fried Basket. There were Fish & Chips, succulent Buttermilk Chicken, and my favorites were the Pumpkin Croquette and Maryland Crab Cakes.

IMG_1828
Seafood on Ice

The Seafood on Ice station was also delightful, with Snow Crab Legs among other usual favourites such as Red Prawns and Black Mussels. Boosting the seafood offering, there is also a Sashimi and Sushi counter offering Norwegian Salmon sashimi, Yellow Fin Tuna and Hokkaido Tako.

IMG_1862
Banana Foster with Caramel Ice Cream

IMG_1771
Snicker Chocolate Bar

IMG_1842
Blueberry Cheesecake

Another highlight was the dessert lineup. Not only are there regular crowd-pleasing and comforting sweets such as Bread & Butter Pudding, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Key Lime Pie, but also unique creations such as the Snicker Chocolate Bar, which offers a whole new experience in enjoying the familiar flavours of a Snickers. The live station whipped up delicious Banana Foster with Caramel Ice Cream made of caramelised bananas served with a scoop of velvety vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.

Yang Ming Seafood (Kelong) @ Vivocity - Popular Homegrown Live Seafood Restaurant Opens First In-mall Restaurant with a Kelong Theme Interior

YangMingKelong17

YangMingVivocity-2

Yang Ming Seafood, a well-loved homegrown seafood restaurant with branches in Bishan and Ubi, has launched its first in-mall waterfront outlet at VivoCity. Designed to evoke an authentic fish kelong experience, the largest of its three outlets seats up to 250 guests. It features a wine cellar, wooden floorboards, beams, fish nets, and live seafood tanks that all highlight the restaurant's commitment to freshness.

YangMingKelong34
Charcoal Roasted Suckling Pig 4.2/5

The Charcoal Roasted Suckling Pig ($268) is a quintessential celebratory dish. Freshly roasted to order, the suckling pig arrives with incredibly aromatic and crispy skin — a perfect centrepiece for sharing.

YangMingKelong12
NEW Fragrant Crispy Rice Crab 4/5

A standout addition to the menu is the Fragrant Crispy Rice Crab ($11 per 100g for Sri Lankan Crab, $10 per 100g for Indonesian Crab). This innovative dish offers a refreshing change from the traditional Singapore Chilli Crab. Paired with fragrant, crispy rice, the dish marries texture and flavour in a unique way, showcasing the crab's succulent, natural sweetness.

YangMingKelong42
Crab Stewed Bee Hoon 4.2/5

Another crab option we tried was the Crab Stewed Bee Hoon ($11 per 100g for Sri Lankan Crab, $10 per 100g for Indonesian Crab). The silky bee hoon absorbs the robust, crustacean-rich flavours of the crab, resulting in a comforting, flavour-packed dish.

YangMingKelong28
NEW Chicken Broth with Baby Cabbage 4.8/5

The Chicken Broth with Baby Cabbage ($88) is a crowd favourite, delivering a hearty, comforting experience. The broth is sweetened by chicken essence and baby cabbage, making it a light yet flavourful choice that’s perfect for group dining.

YangMingKelong7
NEW Basil Sauce Live Prawn 4/5

Next up was the Basil Sauce Live Prawn ($28 for 300g, $40 for 500g, $78 for 1kg). This new addition offers a refreshing twist, with basil’s fragrant aroma enhancing the fresh, succulent prawns. The basil sauce brings an unexpected yet delightful flavour to the dish.

YangMingKelong9
Minced Garlic Steamed Clam 4.2/5

The Minced Garlic Steamed Clam ($35 for 500g, $68 for 1kg) features plump, juicy clams steamed with fragrant minced garlic. Each bite captures the natural sweetness of the clams, complemented by the garlic’s savoury aroma.

YangMingKelong4
NEW Braised Whole Tripe & Brisket 4.5/5

One of the evening's highlights was the new Braised Whole Tripe & Brisket ($108). This dish requires a pre-order and is well worth the wait. The beef tripe is stuffed with tender brisket and tendon, all in a flavourful, slightly spicy brown sauce. The complex layers of texture and taste make it a must-try for offal lovers.

YangMingKelong20
NEW Dry Braised Pork Ribs 4/5

Another new menu item, the Dry Braised Pork Ribs ($20, $30, or $40), features tender, juicy pork ribs with a sauce that's been expertly absorbed into the meat. The ribs are a satisfying option, especially for those who enjoy bold, concentrated flavours.

YangMingKelong23
Andrew Lobster 4.2/5

The Andrew Lobster is an iconic dish at Yang Ming Seafood. It is a dish my friend shared with the owner that he had in Hong Kong, and after much R&D, the chef created this dish, which became a hit with many foodies. The creation features silky chee cheong fan (rice noodle rolls) accented with fried shallots, fried garlic, and premium soy sauce. It's easy to see why; the dish strikes a perfect balance of flavour and texture, with each element enhancing the others.

Yang Ming Seafood's new VivoCity outlet is an impressive addition to the dining scene. With an emphasis on fresh, live seafood and authentic flavours, the restaurant delivers both innovation and comfort. The inviting kelong-inspired ambience and diverse menu make it an excellent choice for seafood lovers who enjoy quality dishes in a unique waterfront setting. Whether you're there for classic favourites or new creations, Yang Ming Seafood promises a memorable dining experience.

HighHouse @ One Raffles Place - Third Edition of Its Monthly Brunch Series, "Brunch Out! Arcade Appetites: Vroom Vroom."

IMG_7733

HighHouse at One Raffles Place hosts a monthly brunch series on the last Saturday of each month from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm. On August 29th, they held their third edition, themed around the annual F1 races: "Brunch Out! Arcade Appetites: Vroom Vroom." The brunch featured a diverse array of food stations, offering a distinctive range of dishes to suit various tastes.

IMG_7680
Yellowfin Tuna and Spanish Octopus Ceviche 3.8/5

The Ceviche Bar provided a light start, featuring Yellowfin Tuna and Spanish Octopus Ceviche brightened by zesty Philippine Pineapple Salsa. The combination of both seafood elements offered a satisfying textural bite, while the guacamole added creaminess and enhanced the overall mouthfeel.

IMG_7704
BBQ Glazed & White Pepper Sakura Pork Belly 5/5, Australian Wagyu Beef Brisket 3.8/5

The Live Carving Station was undoubtedly the most popular, offering two standout items: Oven Baked BBQ Glazed & White Pepper Sakura Pork Belly and Mexican Style Josper Grilled Australian Wagyu Beef Brisket. The pork belly shone with its ultra-tender meat and glaze that perfectly complemented its richness. The brisket, while flavorful, leaned towards the drier side. The deeply caramelised Honey Soy Brussel sprouts and grilled pineapples were pure deliciousness!

IMG_7713
48-month-aged Jamon Iberico De Bellota 3/5

For cheese lovers, the Cheese Counter offers a selection of fine cheese and a 48-month-aged Jamon Iberico De Bellota, an ideal pairing with the free-flowing Telmont champagne, selected wines, and cocktails included with the ticket.

IMG_7742

Other stations included a Steam Fish Station serving Greenland Halibut prepared en papillote, a Salad Bar, and a Dessert Counter, ensuring a wide range of palates were catered to.

IMG_7683

IMG_7660

The ticket was priced at $138++ with complimentary free-flow Telmont champagne, selected wines and cocktails. Each ticket has three coupons to exchange for three dishes from the various food stations. It's a weird concept, but it probably works for those who drink a lot over the food.
