Vineyard @ Hortpark - All-You-Can-Eat A La Carte French Buffet at $58

IMG_4271

Vineyard at Hortpark serves up French cuisine with a touch of local flair. The restaurant is currently running a promotion for its All-You-Can-Eat à la carte French Buffet at $58++ (U.P. $98++). The menu entices with a range of starters, including classics such as Duck Rillette and Moules Marinières, comforting soups and salads, and mains featuring iconic dishes such as Duck Leg Confit and Steak Frites.

IMG_4224
Gruyère Cheese Zucchini Croquette 4/5

The Gruyère Cheese Zucchini Croquette arrived golden and crisp, with rich, oozy cheese complemented by julienned zucchini. The filling could have been less wet for a better texture, and given its richness, a mustard-based sauce might have worked more effectively than the French ranch drizzle to cut through and balance the flavours.

IMG_4230
Country-Style French Duck Rillette 4.5/5

One of our favourites was the Country-Style French Duck Rillette — meaty and unctuous without being overly fatty.

IMG_4231
Mushroom Pâté 3/5

The Mushroom Pâté with Apricot Compote was delectable, though we found it slightly on the sweeter side.

IMG_4206
Ah Hua Kelong Mussels Marinière 4.8/5

Embracing the ethos of farm-to-table dining, Vineyard also sources produce locally, creating dishes such as the Ah Hua Kelong Mussels Marinière. The white wine butter sauce was incredibly full-bodied and flavourful, making this an excellent showcase of our local mussels.

IMG_4211
Vegetable Garbure Soup 5/5

The humble Vegetable Garbure Soup was another highlight of our experience. A traditional dish from Gascony in southwestern France, it was prepared with GG French Poulet broth, giving the soup a full-bodied depth of flavour, gently laced with subtle smokiness from the chunks of smoked ham. Brimming with vegetables, the wholesome soup also featured Ravioles du Dauphiné, adding an extra layer of texture and richness to the dish.

IMG_4219
Vineyard Salad 5/5

Vineyard Salad was a plateful of wholesome ingredients that delighted with both freshness and textural crunch. Homegrown greens, watermelon radish, cucumber, and tomatoes brought refreshing notes, complemented by the earthy sweetness of roasted beetroot and bursts of zest from orange slices. Creamy feta cheese balanced the greens beautifully, while candied walnuts imparted a moreish, sweet-nutty and satisfying crunch in every bite.

IMG_4256
French Duck Leg Confit 4.8/5

For mains, the standout was definitely the French Duck Leg Confit, one of the better versions I have had in a long time. The moist and tender duck meat contrasted beautifully with its crisp exterior, brilliantly complemented by a zesty L’Orange sauce. The accompanying duck-fat-roasted potatoes also hit the right spot, with their fluffy interior and lightly crisped exterior.

IMG_4274
Oven-Roasted Great Hill Free Range Chicken Leg 4.5/5

The succulent Oven-Roasted Great Hill Free Range Chicken Leg was another crowd-pleaser, paired with a mustard brown sauce that elevated the dish with tantalising savoury notes. It was served with the same indulgent duck-fat-roasted potatoes, which were equally satisfying.

IMG_4248

IMG_4244
Steak Frites 3/5

As for the Steak Frites featuring a Grass-Fed Striploin, while the steak itself was enjoyable, the brandy peppercorn sauce did not quite complement the meat as well as we had hoped. What truly stood out were the handcrafted French fries, reminiscent of exceptionally good double-fried Belgian fries cooked in beef fat.

IMG_4284
Limoncello Tiramisu 4.2/5

For dessert, the Limoncello Tiramisu was a delight. Crafted with lemon curd, finger sponge, and limoncello, it offered bright citrusy notes, beautifully balanced by a contrasting caramelised, buttery sweetness from the Speculoos crumbs.

Altogether, it had been a satisfying dining experience marked by a few memorable highlights that made it well worth a visit. This à la carte French buffet is available for dinner only on Monday to Friday and all day on the weekends.

Revolution Wine Bistro @ Henderson Industrial Park - New Food-Forward Dining Destination by The Team Behind Defunct RVLT

IMG_7797

From the team behind the now-closed RVLT, Revolution at Henderson Road is a brand-new restaurant that has redefined itself as a food-forward dining destination, shedding its old wine bar image. The cosy space is designed in collaboration with iconic Danish design house Fritz Hansen. It is furnished entirely with pieces from their design heritage, lending an understated yet elegant and cosy atmosphere.

IMG_7780
Chicken Nuggets with Tomato Sriracha 4.5/5

At lunch, the menu leans towards simple, comforting fare — shareable starters, locally inspired pastas, and hearty mains. A must-try from the sharing plates is the Chicken Nuggets with Tomato Sriracha ($20), a highly requested favourite carried over from its previous spot. These are far from your usual fast-food nuggets. Made from a golden ratio of 80% chicken thigh and breast to 20% soft bones, they were tender and succulent, with a contrasting crispy crust. The crunchy, soft-bone bits buried within elevated the textural enjoyment. And what made these morsels even more addictive was the in-house Tomato Sriracha dip, crafted with 3-day fermented tomatoes, which imparted a fruity-sweet, vinegary tartness and a punch of heat, making it an excellent palate awakener.

IMG_7768
Homemade Sourdough with Whipped Seaweed Butter 4.5/5

The Homemade Sourdough with Whipped Seaweed Butter ($8) was pleasing, featuring a well-made sourdough that struck a delicate balance of tang, nuttiness, and structure, with a crusty exterior and a chewy interior that paired beautifully with the umami-rich butter.

IMG_7789
Hua Diao White Clams Linguine 4.5/5

Revolution also offers a Set Lunch ($28.80) comprising a salad, a choice of pasta, and a drink (iced tea, lemonade, or coffee). I tried both the Hua Diao White Clams Linguine ($19.80) and the Chicken Rendang Homemade Ravioli ($19.80). The linguine had an intoxicating aroma of Hua Diao wine, with a buttery, garlicky sauce that coated the al dente pasta and large, meaty clams.

IMG_7807
Chicken Rendang Homemade Ravioli 2/5

The ravioli, however, paled in comparison. The pasta dough was a bit thick, and the minced chicken filling made only a slight impact. While the rendang gravy was bold and aromatic, textured with seasoned breadcrumbs, a simpler execution, such as egg pasta with shredded chicken, could have been more successful in conveying the idea.

IMG_7759
Kale Salad 4/5

Among the salads, the Kale Salad was delightful, featuring crisp, fried kale paired with fresh leaves, avocado chunks, and tomatoes.

IMG_7817
Crystal Sensu Fan 5/5

IMG_7824
Chicken Skin Stroopwafel 5/5

Dinner service features a five-course tasting menu ($98++), and I tried a couple of the courses. The starters showcase a Trio of Snacks, starting with Crystal Sensu Fan, topped with Lobster Roe Bavarois and Caviar, which was incredibly delicate yet deeply umami. The Chicken Skin Stroopwafel with Drunken Foie Gras and Rose Wine Jelly offered a playful contrast of crisp chicken skin waffle and unctuous foie gras terrine, with the jelly cutting through the richness.

IMG_7838
Mala Taco 4.5/5

In the same vein, the Mala Taco, filled with luscious negitoro and topped with tomato jelly, featured a sesame and hazelnut-infused tuile that delivered a layered sweet-savoury nuttiness and mala warmth without overwhelming the negitoro. In contrast, the tomato jelly balanced the richness of the bite.

IMG_7851
Mussels Cheong Fun 4.5/5

Another course I tried was the brilliantly executed Mussels Cheong Fun. The soft, tender cheong fun acted like a delicate veil, concealing a surprise of aromatic moules marinières beneath — sweet-savoury with a touch of brininess, brightened by vibrant acidity and a drizzle of scallion oil that added gentle herbaceous notes. Paired with a Jerusalem artichoke purée, the mild, earthy base absorbed the sauce beautifully, making for a deeply satisfying bite.

IMG_7866
Pandan Madeleines 4/5

Rounding off the meal, the petite Pandan Madeleines ($12) were delightful, with a lingering buttery flavour in every bite.

Morita Unigoro @ Stanley Street - An Exclusive 1-for-1 Six-course Dinner at $298++

MoritaUnigoro22

Osaka’s acclaimed uni omakase specialist Morita UNIGORO at Stanley Street launches an exclusive 1-for-1 six-course dinner at $298++, available daily for dinner until 31 July 2025. This limited-time offering presents a more accessible way to enjoy the restaurant’s premium uni-focused omakase, showcasing Hokkaido sea urchin alongside seasonal Japanese ingredients.

MoritaUnigoro2
Duo Sashimi 4.8/5

Our first course is a sashimi dish featuring two different cuts of tuna - Chutoro and Otoro. To enhance the enjoyment of the fatty tuna, diners can pair it with the accompanying sea salt and wasabi.

MoritaUnigoro7
New "Uniku" (Uni & Meat) 5/5

The next course is the New "Uniku" comprising Uni and Meat. The A5 Wagyu Uchimomo (top round) is slightly torched and served together with egg yolk and uni. The three ingredients seem unassociated or unrelated, but when you have them all together, the combination of flavour and texture is out of this world. It was almost heavenly, deliciously good.

MoritaUnigoro13
Tempura Scallop with Uni 4.5/5

Following that, we were served the Tempura Scallop with Uni. The plump and juicy scallop was lightly coated in a delicate, crispy batter, perfectly complementing the creamy sweetness of the uni. A touch of roasted seaweed tied all the elements together, enhancing both the aroma and umami, making for another beautifully executed and well-balanced dish.

MoritaUnigoro21

MoritaUnigoro18

The highlight of the six-course dinner is the Signature Uni Hot Pot. The hot pot comes with premium ingredients, including Uni, Lobster, Clam, Abalone, A5 Wagyu Beef Ribeye, Japanese Pork Belly, and Vegetables.

MoritaUnigoro23

MoritaUnigoro26

MoritaUnigoro30

MoritaUnigoro34
Signature Uni Hot Pot 4.8/5

The hot pot is brought to a boil, with uni added to the broth. Parmesan and olive oil are further added to elevate the taste profile. The ingredients are top-notch quality, too. The clam was the biggest I had ever seen and eaten; it was as big as my palm. The other highlight is the melt-in-the-mouth A5 wagyu.

MoritaUnigoro38
Uni Mixed Rice 4.2/5

To fill one's up, the last savoury course is the Uni Mixed Rice. The rice was fluffy and well-infused with the robust flavour from the uni. My only complaint is that the portion is too small. I don't understand why the restaurant is reluctant to offer a larger portion or provide diners with the option to choose a different-sized portion of rice to their preference.

MoritaUnigoro41
Homemade Granita 3.5/5

Last but not least, we wrapped up the meal on a sweet and refreshing note. The Homemade Granita was ideal after all the richness.

UNA @ The Alkaff Mansion - New Menu Introducing Spain’s Finest Rubia Gallega Beef

IMG_7069

UNA at The Alkaff Mansion celebrates its 10th anniversary with a new menu co-conceptualised by Chef Diego Grimberg, Culinary Advisor and Head Chef of the Michelin-starred Hofmann Restaurant in Spain, and Chef Tom Kung, UNA's Executive Chef. A key highlight of this menu is the revamped selection of Asado grilled meats, with UNA being the first restaurant in Singapore to introduce Spain's prized Rubia Gallega beef.

IMG_7079
Cinco Jotas “5J” Jamon Iberico 4/5

IMG_7076
Pan Con Tomate 3/5

The menu still offers the restaurant's signature tapas, including the renowned Cinco Jotas "5J" Jamon Iberico ($46), made from Spain's finest 48-month acorn-fed 5J Iberico pork. It pairs beautifully with the crisp Toasted Crystal Bread, Pan Con Tomate ($7/2 pcs; $12/4 pcs), served with fresh tomato purée.

IMG_7091
Gazpachuelo De Gambas Roja 3/5

The Gazpachuelo De Gambas Roja features Red Prawn Tartare, which has a delightful mouthfeel with creaminess from the avocado. The cherry slices atop punctuated the tartare with welcoming sweet-tart notes. While the gazpacho was rich in crustacean flavour, I personally prefer the original non-meat version.

IMG_7103
Pulpo a La Parrilla 4/5

The Pulpo a La Parrilla ($36) presents a smoky grilled octopus, artfully paired with baby potatoes and purple vitelotte potato and complemented by red pepper and cilantro sauce.

IMG_7113
Mariscos Paella 4.5/5

For the main course, we tried the Mariscos Paella ($62/$82), which impressed me with its robust umami flavour, packed with red sea prawns, fresh clams, and black mussels. The dish had a generous amount of soccarat, adding a smoky flavour and extra bite. A squeeze of lemon juice would have elevated the dish even further.

IMG_7140

IMG_7150
Rubia Galicia Gold 4.8/5

The Asado grilling technique, deeply rooted in Spanish culinary tradition, infuses meats with a charcoal fragrance, enhancing their natural flavours. The star of the menu is the Rubia Galicia Gold - Costillas A La Parrilla ($138), a prime rib served with fricando sauce, pumpkin purée, and oyster mushrooms. Known for its exceptional flavour and marbling, the Rubia Galicia Gold's slow grilling over an open fire renders its fat into a tantalising smoky crust, contrasting with its succulent texture and releasing robust flavours.

IMG_7118
Asado Moralejo Lamb 5/5

Alongside the Rubia Gallega beef, the menu features other premium meats, such as the newly approved milk-fed Moralejo Lamb in Singapore, also prepared with the Asado grill method. The Asado Moralejo Lamb ($46) with Cauliflower was incredibly tender and flavorful, with minimal gaminess, perfectly complemented by the buttery and creamy cauliflower purée.

IMG_7177
Crèma Catalana 2.5/5

IMG_7184
Turrón de Almendras 2.8/5

For dessert, the Crèma Catalana ($16), a Spanish crème brûlée torched with a charcoal-scorched plate, was unfortunately rather cloying, and the method didn't significantly enhance the taste. The Turrón de Almendras ($22), an almond nougat cake served with raspberry sorbet, offered an interesting flavour reminiscent of egg yolk custard, though the hazelnut streusel tasted a bit off.

To celebrate the launch of UNA's new menu, American Express cardholders will enjoy 20% off items on the à la carte menu from 16 August 2024 to 15 September 2024.

2280 Burger @ Henderson Industrial Park - Gourmet Burgers By BurgerLabo

2280Burger7

Hidden in Henderson Industrial Park is a burger restaurant, 2280 Burger, by the same people behind Burger Labo and Naked Finn. The name of the burger place 2280 comes from the four-digit code of the beef neck cut used in their beef patty. I had difficulty finding the place because its exterior looked different from a restaurant but more like an interior design house.

2280Burger10
2280 Burger Double

There are only three burgers on the menu - 2280 Burger Single ($9.50), 2280 Burger Double ($13.50) and Blue Cod Burger Single ($15). I decided to go for the 2280 Burger Double that comes with two hand-shaped beef patties, pickled onions, melted cheese, and shio kombu mayonnaise in between two buttered and fluffy buns.

2280Burger2

The beef patty, which uses grass-fed Aberdeen Angus beef and Kuroge Washu from Toriyama Umami Wagyu, is a juicy stack of deliciousness further elevated by condiments coming together beautifully.

2280Burger3
2280 Burger Double & Blue Cod Burger Single

We also tried the Blue Cod Burger, which is more expensive than the beef burgers. It is a delicious burger, but we could not overcome the psychological barrier that it tastes exactly like McDonald's Fillet-O-Fish.
