McDonald’s Prosperity Burger is Back
There is more joy for the festive season with the return of McDonald’s Prosperity Burger® on 29 December 2016! Not only that, it is double happiness for fans of McDonald’s Prosperity Burger as McDonald is also bringing back the crowd-pleasing Prosperity Twister Fries™.
Do you know that it has been 12 years since the launch of Prosperity Burger? One of the all-time Singapore Lunar New Year favourites, this is one burger that I look forward to sink my teeth into every year. With next year’s Lunar New Year falling in late January 2017, I am glad that I do not need to wait until the Lunar New Year as McDonald will be launching very soon - in fact, tomorrow!
What makes me crave for the Prosperity burger even more is the the succulent grilled beef (or chicken) patty, dipped in a generous serving of black pepper sauce and topped with slivered onions. Each bite of the succulent beef patty rewards you with a savoury spice kick. Have it together with the sliced onions, it is like an explosion in the mouth with all the flavours coming together. Only one word to describe it...shiok!
To double the shiokness, you may opt for the double beef or chicken patties!
Besides the Prosperity Burgers and Twister Fries, McDonald is also introducing two exciting items on the menu - Sweet BBQ Drumlets and Gula Melaka McFlurry with Rainbow Bites. Make it a complete prosperity meal with these two new sweet delights. Let us usher into the year of Rooster together starting with a great meal at McDonald - a year of good fortune and prosperity. Huat Ah!

Nestia App - Nestia Food Festival 2016, 01 to 14 September 2016
Did you hear about the Nestia Food Festival 2016 which is happening from 01 September to 14 September 2016? The food festival is brought to you by Nestia App which can be downloaded on both Android and IOS. Nestia has brought together 100 restaurants and cafes islandwide to participate in the first ever Nestia Food Festival!
The good news is all the participating merchants will be offering minimum 15% discount to Nestia App users. Participating merchants include known names like Chock Full of Beans, Caruso, Nun Song Yee, Kombi Rocks Diner and many more.
I have actually made plans to visit a few of the participating merchants during the Nestia Food Festival. One of them is Caruso in Bukit Timah which serves authentic Italian cuisine. Now there are more reasons for me to go back for their delicious Italian food, since I will get to enjoy a minimum 15% discount by being a user of Nestia app.
To redeem the promotion from the participating restaurants and cafes, you just need to follow 2 simple steps during the Nestia Food Festival,
1) Download Nestia App. Click Link Here.
2) Flash the app promotion page to participating merchants
Besides the Food Festival, Nestia app is also great for making my life simpler and easier. Nestia is a one stop platform dedicated to removing all the hassle of searching for information across multiple platforms or apps. Ever encountered the need to switch between apps on your phone just to find the information you need? What is even more frustrating is jumping in and out of various apps that you have downloaded on the phone, just to complete a simple search. For instance, finding a restaurant for dinner, follow up with a reservation and finding directions to the restaurant. You will probably need to do this over 3 applications installed in your phone. If you are facing this daily inconvenience like me, Nestia app has the solution. It has all the features integrated into the app, easy and simple.
As a foodie, I like the Food & Beverage Category of the Nestia App most. The app allows me to search for the restaurant I wish to visit. At the same time indicates to me whether there is any promotion tied up with the restaurant. With a simple tap of the app, I can even call the restaurant to make a reservation from the app directly without the need to search for the phone number. It also offers me direction to the restaurant. The Nestia App even allows me to check on public transport information such as the waiting time of the public bus and the travelling time from one MRT station to another.
On top of the Food & Beverage, Transport and Navigation features I raved about, the Nestia App currently has Movies, Promotions, Lottery, Property, Interior Design and Home Services features built into it. I understand that they will be building more features into it over time as well!
I am glad that I got to know about Nestia as the app has basically changed the way I used my phone to search for information. It has incorporated daily living in Singapore into the app. It feels like the company behind the app knows what we want and need, and has customized an app for all Singaporeans. Now there is no need for me to download multiple apps on my phone. I just need a single app in Nestia installed on my phone and I have the whole Singapore at my fingertips.
You can download the Nestia App by clicking the link here.

Peach Garden Chinese Dining @ Changi Airport Terminal 2 - You Do Not Need An Air Ticket To Eat London Duck
Passengers travelling in and out of Changi Airport now can indulge in traditional Chinese food with contemporary flair at the newly opened Peach Garden Chinese Dining at Terminal 2 departure hall. The restaurant features an all day dining menu including its well loved signature creations and classic dishes, and good selections of dim sum.
Fried Carrot Cake in X.O. Sauce 4/5
We started with something light on the menu in the Fried Carrot Cake in X.O. Sauce ($9.80). The radish cake comes in huge chunky cube with crispy edges tossed in the aromatic X.O. sauce. It is further coated with egg to enhance the flavour with the bean sprouts giving it the extra crunchiness.
Double-boiled Shark's Bone Cartilage Soup 4.5/5
To warm our stomach before starting on the mains, we had the Double-boiled Shark's Bone Cartilage Soup with Bamboo Pith, Dried Scallop and Fish Maw ($26 per portion). The collagen rich soup is comforting and packed with beautiful flavours, infused with the essence of the delicacies.
Crisp-fried Prawn with Wasabi Salad Cream 4.2/5
A dish that will delight the youth is the Crisp-fried Prawn with Wasabi Salad Cream ($23.80). The crunchy and plump prawn is coated in a vibrant wasabi salad cream sauce that will stimulate the nasal passages with its pungency. A sensorial experience in the execution.
Braised Homemade Beancurd with Fresh Crab Meat and Local Spinach 4.2/5
For a balance diet, we ordered the Braised Homemade Beancurd with Fresh Crab Meat and Local Spinach ($18). This is like a three in one dish. You get to have your vegetable, silky tofu and fresh sweet crab meat.
Stewed Vermicelli with Sliced Fish, Bitter Gourd and Black Bean Sauce 4.5/5
One of my favourite dishes is the Stewed Vermicelli with Sliced Fish, Bitter Gourd and Black Bean Sauce ($16). I enjoyed how the black bean sauce coupled with the wok-hei aroma gave the stewed vermicelli a character on its own. The addition of sliced fish and bitter gourd is like jewels on a crown, completing the homely and yet comforting noodle dish.
Roasted London Duck 4.5/5
A highlight at Peach Garden Chinese Dining has to be the used of the London Duck, also known as the wagyu of duck. The reason why the Roasted London Duck ($68 Whole/ $35.80 Half/ $18 small) is gaining popularity in Singapore its because of the succulent texture and that layer of fats underneath the skin. This is one dish that you must order from the menu.
Roasted Crispy Pork Cube 4.2/5
Since we are already having the roasted london duck, might as well add on the Roasted Crispy Pork Cube ($12.80 per portion) to the platter. The crackling skin, together with the succulent and juicy meat is just too good to be only be served in portion in accordance to the number of guests. I wish there are more of it.
Wrapping up our wonderful lunch in a sweet note, we have the Chilled Fresh Mango, Sago with Pomelo ($8) and Chilled Black Glutinous Rice with Ice Cream ($8). For an additional $3, the desserts are served in a coconut husk. I could not decide which is my favourite as both are as good, so we ended up sharing to enjoy the best of both world.
Be it that you want to have a quick lunch before flying off , to host a business lunch or family gathering, the restaurant offers the perfect setting to do so with its 180 seating capacity and three private room. In celebration of its opening, the restaurant is offering an opening special for its signature suckling pig at $168 (U.P. $238). Advance order is required. Diners will also get to enjoy a complimentary serving of deep fried chicken in szechuan style. The opening specials will be available up to 31 August 2016 only.

Together with a few foodie friends, we went on an exclusive tour to give us a glimpse of some of the events that will take place during the Singapore Food Festival. Our first stop was Open Stoves by Timbre+, where the resident chefs at the gastro-park have collaborated with guest chefs to develop new and innovative dishes that will be available for purchase during the festival.
One such dish is the Cebu Bellychon Curry Noodles with Salted Vegetables and Lime created by Chefs Christian Calledo of Iskina Cebu Singapore and Bjorn Shen of Artichoke and Bird Bird. We got to interact with the chefs themselves during the tour to understand their inspiration behind the dish. We even got to prepare the dish ourselves and savour the delicious creation, igniting a fiery start to the tour.
Open Stoves by Timbre+ will be taking place on 23 and 24 July 2016, 12pm till late. Other new innovative dishes you can look forward to at the event include the Prata Taco with Stewed Tripe and the Prata Taco with BBQ Pork Collar made by Chefs Jeremy Cheok of Dusk by Stake and Tan Huang Ming of Park Bench Deli. Our second stop is at Restaurant Labyrinth where we had a fun session plating our own dish or rather the dishes curated by International celebrity Chef Susur Lee, Senior Executive Chef Ken Ling of Tunglok Heen and Chef-Owner Han Liguang of Restaurant Labyrinth for STREAT 2016 taking place at Clifford Square, 15 to 16 July 2016, from 5pm to 1030pm.
The chefs have re-interpreted and created new expressions of Singapore's iconic street food, presenting it in an exclusive five-course, six-hands dinner menu. We were given a glimpse into some of these modern interpretation of our signature street food such as the Singapore Satay, Chilli Crab and Oyster Omelette Pie Tee.
A stellar selection of hawkers and chefs will also join the trio, setting up stalls alongside the pop-up restaurant at Clifford Square in celebration of our dining scene. Some of the curated medley of Singaporean food establishments which includes Candlenut, The Disgruntled Chef, Char, Casuarina Curry Restaurant and more.
STREAT 2016 will be taking place on 15 and 16 July 2016, 5pm to 1030pm. STREAT will showcase how food in Singapore has evolved over the year with an all-star cast of hawkers and chefs convening in one location in celebration of our dining scene. Find out more at http://www.singaporefoodfestival.com
Our last stop is at Chinatown Food Street at Smith Street where The 50 Cents Fest by Select Group will be held. The food street will be transformed with street hawkers, lively music from a bygone era, buskers and costumed entertainers. The event taking place on 30 and 31 July 2016 will bring back many nostalgic dishes during the festival.
Look out for street hawkers such as the rojak on bicycle as you dine along the shophouse-lined streets of Singapore. Most of the dishes will be sold at only 50 cents and not more than $2 each in denomination of 50 cents.
Bringing back memories of our parents' childhood, we even learn how to make the ice ball. A popular dessert during our parents' time. During the event, public can get to purchase the ice ball to cool off from the humid weather for only 50 cents.
Relive the good old days at the The 50 Cents Fest! happening on 30 July (3pm - 11pm) and 31 July (11am - 11pm) where public can feast on more than 30 iconic hawker dishes, with many priced at 50 cents each. The Singapore Tea Party by Sensodyne
The Singapore Tea Party by Sensodyne took place at The Duxton Hotel on 20 Jun 2015 attended by 20 selected guests and their friends, who have voted at http://www.facebook.com/SensodyneSG where both Maureen (aka MissTamChiak) and me has nominated our favourite dessert places. The exciting afternoon gathered seven dessert vendors under one roof allowing us to mingle, indulge and share our great little moments together with the guests.
We are very thankful to the various dessert vendors taking their time off to spend the afternoon servicing us with the beautiful hot and cold desserts. We have the following nominated dessert vendors at the Singapore Tea Party with their yummylicious offerings,
1) Alfero Gelato
2) Lady M
3) Jin Jin Mango Ice Kachang
4) No Name Cheng Tng
5) Pacamara
6) Tong Heng
7) Udders
The beautiful emcee officially opened the
Singapore Tea Party with a brief introduction of the various dessert vendors.
After that, the guests are invited to “dig in” to the spread of desserts. Quoting from Maureen. “Don’t think about slimming
down, just enjoy to your heart filled”
It was a dessert heaven at the Singapore Tea Party. I was actually feeling kind of overwhelmed with the buffet of desserts, not knowing where to start with. From gelato, cake , coffee, traditional egg tart, traditional hot and cold desserts, we are spoilt of choices.
As a token to all the participating dessert vendors, both Maureen (MissTamChiak,.com) and me signed a certificate of appreciation and presented it to the participating dessert vendors. Once again this party will not be possible without their support.
There was also an instagram contest where 2 winners picked by Maureen and me, get to walk away with $100 worth of GSK products. A surprised People’s Choice award was also presented to Udders which has gotten the highest number of votes among the 12 nominated dessert vendors.
The Singapore Tea Party is just only a small part from us to share our great little moments with our fans and readers. If you have your own Great Little Moments, why not share it on http://www.sensodyne.com.sg/great-little-moments.aspx and stands a chance to win a staycation at Resorts World Sentosa’s Ocean Suites.
