Durian Fiesta 2016 @ Goodwood Park Hotel


Fans of the famed Durian Fiesta at Goodwood Park Hotel will be thrilled with its return from 4 March 2016 to 17 July 2016 for its thirty third years. Since 1983, the annual affair has delighted many lovers of the king of fruits with the range of creations. This year the durian fiesta features 13 meticulously handcrafted treasures in total, with 7 brand new creations.


The new creations for 2016 using the premium D24 and Mao Shan Wang durian are Durian Black Sea Salt Caramel Cake, Durian Kueh Lapis, Durian Crunchy Chocolate-Hazelnut Tartlet, Mini Durian Ice Cream Bars, Durian Pudding topped with Osmanthus Jelly and Mao Shan Wang Mousse Cake


Made with the premium D24 durian, Hawaiian black sea salt is used in the luscious cake, adding a feather-light savoury touches to the creamy sweetness. The dark dots on the top layer of the Durian Black Sea Salt Caramel Cake ($13 per slice/ $85 whole cake) are salt crystals.


The classic layered cake is given a new lease of life in the Durian Kueh Lapis ($12 per slice/ $62 whole cake). The magnificent cake is formed by layers of pulpy D24 durian mousse and almond sponge, framed the golden multi-layer cake.


The Durian Crunchy Chocolate Hazelnut Tartlet ($43 for 6pc) is filled with a layer of D24 durian pulp and milk chocolate hazelnut mixture, finished with a delicate gold flakes to give it a touch of elegant.


This is my favourite creation of this year durian fiesta, the Mini D24 Durian Ice Cream Bar ($6 per bar / $30 for a box of six assorted flavours). The dainty ice cream popsicles are painstakingly handmade using pure D24 durian pulp. All together there are six different flavours - original, dark chocolate, white chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, milk chocolate, pink chocolate and milk chocolate with almonds.

From 4 March 2016 to 17 July 2016, these luscious confections can be purchased at the hotel's Deli, along with other much loved signature items such as the Durian Puff, D24 Durian Mousse Cake, Durian Crepe and D24 or Mao Shan Wang Ice Cream Tubs.


From 28 May 2017 to 17 July 2016, Coffee Lounge will also be serving its much lauded Dessert Buffet with Durian Pastries during lunch and dinner,

One of my greatest weaknesses is towards ice cream. Once I started on a pint tub, I can simply go on and finish it in one go. Leaving me feeling sinfulIy guilty. I first get to know Sugalight back in my early days when I started blogging. Sugalight is a guilt-free ice cream, made without sugar and cream. Last weekend we gathered at my friend’s place for a pot luck party. Each of us contributed and brought along a table full of food. Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar. During the period leading to the festival, many restaurants and hotels will be coming out with various creations of the baked and snowskin mooncakes. There are so many different creations and packagings this festival season. I have put together a guide for your reference if you are thinking of getting some mooncakes for with own consumption or as gift to friends, families or business partners.

The fruity sweetness and crispy texture seems to complement each other well.

The Capsule Co. - Your 100% Nespresso Compatible Capsule


I am those that needs my caffeine intakes everyday. I can drink up to 4 cups of coffee a day. Recently I got a capsule coffee machine, then did I realize how expensive drinking coffee can be, especially purchasing these capsules. Not anymore when I get to know about The Capsule Co. by Kaaas Enterprise, a local company which imported 100% Nespresso compatible capsules. This is a saving around 30% to 40%.


Although it is 100% Nespresso compatible but how is the quality? The Capsule Co. collaborates with Punto Italia to deliver branded coffee which are roasted according to traditional style of Italian coffee roasting. The Whole New OpenSnap App by OpenRice


I have been using the OpenSnap App to post some of food pictures for a while now and I am really quite excited with its latest update. The all new OpenSnap App is cleaner, sexier and more navigation user friendly. On top of that, it has also added some new and useful features. Finding the best restaurants and dishes in Singapore is just a few taps away with the new OpenSnap.


Many times we may just want to eat a particular dish or have a craving for a particular food item. Most of the app out there only gives you a listing of the restaurants but not the dish. With the all new OpenSnap, this is so easy now. It allows one to find a restaurant by the rating of a dish. For example, you are craving for a good bowl of bak ku teh. All you need to do is launch the OpenSnap app, go to Singaporean > Bak Kut Teh.


The app will show a list of Bak Kut Teh from various restaurants with their different ratings. There is also a Filter Function button for you to further specific the different search criteria. This new feature is really brilliant in my option. Instead of browsing through the long listing of restaurants to find the particular food you want to eat.  We can now go straight to the dish and find which restaurant serves the best of it.


In the new OpenSnap app, it has also included a new Offers feature which has attractive dining offers in Singapore. The eclectic listing of 700 dining offers over 450 unique restaurants in Singapore. Users will be spoilt of choices. Imagine the amount of savings too.


My personal favourite is the Nearby feature of the new OpenSnap app. How many times have been been to a place and ask ourselves, What to eat around here? What is good around here? Let OpenSnap solves your headache with just a simple tap on the nearby feature and a list of restaurants around the vicinity will be displayed on your smartphone.


The new updated OpenSnap has definitely made it more user friendly with its cleaner look and simple navigation.
