Tea Lounge @ Conrad Singapore Orchard - Art of Chocolate, An Indulgent Afternoon of Valrhona-infused Delights

IMG_2735

IMG_2809

Tea Lounge at Conrad Singapore Orchard has launched a decadent Weekday Afternoon Tea in collaboration with Valrhona, featuring a curated selection of pastries and cocoa-infused creations crafted with Valrhona's signature couverture chocolates.

IMG_2748

We started with a warm, creamy, indulgent Hot Chocolate, though a more bittersweet profile might have made for a better opening given the sweets ahead.

IMG_2786
Finger Sandwiches

The tier of savoury finger sandwiches was nothing short of elegant and satisfying. The ratio of soft, fluffy bread to fillings was spot on. The Devilled Mimosa Sandwich offered a classic egg mayo filling, while the Cured Cucumber Sandwich delivered a pleasant savoury crunch. The Smoked Salmon Sandwich with Caviar was mouth-filling and luxurious, while the Smoked Roasted Chicken Sandwich leaned more towards a shaved ham sandwich, though still delectable with its tender bite.

IMG_2798
Vanilla Moist Layer Cake

The tea cakes and pastries tier showcases some of Valrhona's key couverture chocolates, including Guanaja 70% that goes into making the Vanilla Moist Layer Cake. I learnt that Guanaja 70% is regarded as the world's first intensely bitter chocolate with 70% cocoa, when it was first introduced in 1986!

IMG_2795
Crémeux and White Miso Tart

The Crémeux and White Miso Tart stood out the most for me. It features Matcha inspiration, made with Kagoshima matcha and cocoa butter. The savoury white miso tart also draws on umami, reinforcing the creation's Japanese flair. Among the sweets, I thought this had the most balanced sweetness.

IMG_2799

Raspberry Crémeux and Coco Biscuit features Opalys 33%, known for its pure white colour and velvety texture. Coconut is infused into the pastry as well, imparting a gentle tropical note. The Hazelnut Travel Cake is a vegan-friendly cake made using Amatika 46%, Valrhona's first vegan couverture. The nuttiness of the cake came through beautifully. Roasted Buckwheat Mandola is created with Hukambi 53% milk chocolate and elevated with a nutty crunch from roasted buckwheat.

IMG_2823
Mushrooms Royale and Dark Chocolate Quiche

In between, we were also served Mushrooms Royale and Dark Chocolate Quiche, both of which were among my favourite items. The dark notes of the pastry tart complemented the creamy and savoury filling especially well. The scones are served with clotted cream, salted caramel chocolate jam, strawberry jam, and calamansi curd.

IMG_2805
Scones

In addition to the Classic Plain, there is also the Manjari 64% Chocolate and Candied Orange Zest Scone. Studded with chunks of luscious Manjari 64% chocolate in every bite, it was delicious enough to enjoy with just the clotted cream.

IMG_2835
Sweet Risotto

Sweet Risotto was served à la minute, with a choice of three flavours — dark chocolate, raspberry, and matcha. During our visit, guest Pastry Chef Arief Rusli of Valrhona was in residence at Tea Lounge, and we had the privilege of having him finish our risotto with a pepper-spiked mousse. Its contrasting peppery note offset the milky sweetness of the risotto, creating a more balanced and nuanced finish.

IMG_2726

Beyond the existing selection of teas and coffee, you can also customise your own Gryphon tea at a dedicated tea station with a variety of ingredients to choose from.

Art of Chocolate is available Mondays to Fridays from 30 March to 10 July 2026, 12pm to 5pm.

Pricings

$27++ per child with selection of tea and coffee
An additional $50++ per adult for free-flow prosecco and wines

The Orchard Cafe @ Orchard Hotel Singapore - Get into the Festive Mood at The Orchard Café’s Feast of Prosperity Chinese New Year Buffet

Restaurant

Chinese New Year is a time of reunion, abundance and indulgence, and The Orchard Cafe’s Feast of Prosperity buffet captures this spirit beautifully. Inspired by auspicious flavours and celebratory traditions, the spread brings together classic festive favourites alongside refined international creations, offering diners a generous and comforting way to welcome the Lunar New Year.

Seafood on Ice

Snow Crab Legs 1

One of the most anticipated stations at any hotel buffet is undoubtedly the Seafood on Ice, and The Orchard Cafe delivers generously. The selection includes Red Prawns, Half-Shell Scallops, Clams, Sea Whelk and Mussels, with Snow Crab available during dinner, and Boston Lobsters served on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. While fresh oysters were not listed on the menu, steamed oysters topped with mentaiko sauce were available during our visit.

Cold Appetitizers

The Cold Appetisers section offers a decent variety, with several standouts worth highlighting. The Poached Red Prawn with Mango, Pomelo and Namjin Sauce is refreshing and well-balanced, while the Sichuan Chilled Chicken delivers a satisfying kick. Another favourite is the Marinated Jellyfish Salad with Liangfen, coated in a gently numbing sauce that adds depth without overwhelming the palate.

Crabmeat Pumpkin Soup 1

We were craving something warm to begin the meal, and while we expected a Chinese-style soup, the Crab Pumpkin Soup caught us completely off guard in the best way possible. Lightly sweet, creamy and generously studded with crab meat, it was so comforting that we went back for more than one serving.

Abalone Glutinous Rice 1
Abalone Glutinous Rice 4.8/5

Dumplings in Sour Hot Sauce 1
Dumplings in Sour Hot Sauce 4/5

Among the Oriental selections, these two dishes stood out the most. The Abalone Glutinous Rice comes in a modest portion but is packed with flavour, making it dangerously addictive, so I only wished I had more stomach space for a second helping. The Dumplings in Sour Hot Sauce strike a good balance between tangy and spicy, though I would have preferred a stronger heat to prevent the dumpling skin from firming up as it cooled.

Crispy Duck in Lotus Leaf 1

Baked Salmon

Black Angus Striploin
Slow Roasted Australia Grain-Fed Black Angus Striploin

Pasta on Parmesan Wheel 1
Pasta on Parmesan Wheel

Under the Festive Carvings section, the Crispy Duck in Lotus Leaf was my top pick. It is a clever and creative take, reminiscent of duck confit done tempura-style, with crisp skin and tender meat. The Whole Baked Salmon was equally impressive, both visually and in flavour, served with dill cream and tomato salsa before quickly disappearing from the buffet line. Meat lovers will appreciate the Slow-Roasted Australian Grain-Fed Black Angus Striploin, which pairs exceptionally well with the Pasta on Parmesan Wheel - a combination I highly recommend.

Jujube Coconut Cheese Cake 1

Creamy Pineapple Tart 1

Mochi Yam Roll 1

Assorted Pastries

Desserts were where my excitement truly peaked. For once at a buffet, I was already eyeing the sweets before even starting my meal. Highlights include the Mandarin Orange Cheese Mousse Cake, which is light and citrusy, the elegant Osmanthus Fish Jelly, and the delightful Mochi Yam Roll, which balances texture and flavour beautifully.

Deep Fried Nian Gao 1

Cranberry Brioche Bread Pudding 1

Sesame Chocolate Pudding 1

When it comes to hot desserts, be sure to reserve some stomach space. The Deep-Fried Nian Gao is a must-try, along with the crowd-favourite Deep-Fried Red Bean Pancake. We also sampled the Hot Orh Nee with Ginkgo Nut and Pulut Hitam during our visit. Both were pleasantly low in sweetness, though they lacked a little depth compared to the other desserts. Still, the dessert section overall is not to be missed.

The Orchard Cafe’s Feast of Prosperity Chinese New Year Buffet is a satisfying and well-rounded celebration of festive dining, offering something for everyone from indulgent seafood and comforting Oriental classics to an impressive dessert lineup. Available now until 3 March, for both lunch and dinner, prices start from $98++ per person, making it a worthy option for family gatherings, festive catch-ups or a leisurely celebratory meal.

Wildseed Café @ Botanic Gardens - Newest Wildseed Café Outlet with Nett Prices and Pet-Friendly Seatings

IMG_8207

Wildseed Café’s newest outlet, the fourth, has opened amidst lush greenery within the beautiful Singapore Botanic Gardens.

IMG_8156

IMG_8154

The menu continues to feature its signature favourites, while introducing outlet-exclusive items with a health and wellness focus, along with thoughtfully curated picnic baskets for guests to bring into the gardens to enjoy. Prices are nett, and the outdoor seating area is pet-friendly.

IMG_8219
Acai Fruit Bowl 3.8/5

The Acai Fruit Bowl ($18) is one of the outlet exclusives, featuring a refreshing acai sorbet base that’s not overly sweet, topped with an assortment of fresh fruits and honey granola.

IMG_8208
Atas Kaya Toast 3.8/5

For a local breakfast fix, there is the Atas Kaya Toast ($11). Soft sourdough is slathered with kaya and butter, paired with grated coconut and a sous vide egg for a slightly elevated twist.

IMG_8195
Eggs Benny Croissant Toast 4/5

The Breakfast menu is available from 8am to 11am on weekdays, and 8am to 3pm on weekends and Public Holidays. We enjoyed the Eggs Benny Croissant Toast ($20), available with smoked salmon or streaky bacon. While our sous vide eggs were a touch overcooked, the toast was crisp and paired well with a creamy, well-seasoned hollandaise sauce.

IMG_8206
Soft Shell Chilli Crab Linguine 4/5

Local flavours retake centre stage in the Soft Shell Chilli Crab Linguine ($28), which was spicier than expected. The sweet-spicy balance was well executed, without leaning overly tomato-heavy like many versions. The dish comes topped with a fried soft shell crab and crab meat tossed through the pasta. It’s best to share this as the flavours can get heavy. Gluten-free spaghetti is available upon request for all pasta dishes.

IMG_8198

IMG_8214
Kelong Prawn & Scallop Pizza 4.2/5

A favourite among my dining companions was the chef-recommended Kelong Prawn & Scallop Pizza ($32). The thin yet chewy crust held together a harmonious mix of savoury-sweet prawns, scallops, mozzarella, pesto and cherry tomatoes.

IMG_8196
Har Cheong Chicken Burger 4/5

While the chicken leg in our Har Cheong Chicken Burger ($32) was slightly over-fried, the marination was spot on, with tender meat beneath the crisp exterior. Sandwiched between sesame brioche buns with an onion ring, kale and Roma tomatoes, it comes with curly fries and a punchy sambal mayonnaise that ties everything together.

IMG_8223

IMG_8224

Cakes are available daily from 8am to 5pm, making desserts an all-day affair. Options include the Black Sesame Petite Cake ($13) and Cocoa Petite Cake ($13).

IMG_8165

The beverage list is extensive, ranging from classic teas and coffees to cocktails, fresh juices, wines and spirits. We opted for mocktails such as the Bird of Paradise ($15), a blend of lychee, cranberry and lime, and the Summer Berries ($15), featuring raspberry, strawberry, blackcurrant and lemon.

Firangi Superstar @ Craig Road - Launches Brand-New Saturday-Only Champagne Superstar Brunch

IMG_8834

IMG_8836

Firangi Superstar at Craig Road has introduced a brand-new, Saturday-only affair - the Champagne Superstar Brunch. Showcasing its signature modern Indian cuisine in a free-flow brunch format, the experience offers tiered options, from a food-only package to a premium champagne indulgence. Each set includes a selection of starters, a main course, and free-flow desserts.

IMG_8796
Caviar Puri

IMG_8795
Spiced Poha Papad Pulled Pork, Mushroom Pepper, Fry Endive Crab, Sunchoke

The brunch starts with the Out of the Box Starterkit, a beautiful presentation that opens up to reveal eight canapé-like bites. We tried both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions. The Caviar Puri was one of my favourites, featuring creamy mashed potatoes, tangy crème fraîche, and bursts of savouriness from caviar and ikura.

IMG_8825
Sesame Murukku with Salmon/Beetroot Mousse

IMG_8829
Podi Cheese Dosa

The vegetarian variation with lemon ikura was equally intriguing. The Sesame Murukku with Salmon or Beetroot Mousse (Veg) stood out too, an aesthetically pleasing bite with savoury mousse atop sweet, crispy murukku. The Podi Cheese Dosa offered moreish, cheesy bites that were easy to enjoy.

IMG_8816
Avocado Kulcha with Egg Jam, Biryani-Spiced Bacon/Celeriac

IMG_8824
Mango Lassi

IMG_8799
Truffle Puri

Overall, the starter kit made for an engaging and playful introduction, though I found the flavours relatively restrained for Indian cuisine. Even the Truffle Puri lacked the bold piquancy I was anticipating.

IMG_8848
Steak & Eggs 4/5

For mains, we had the Steak & Eggs (+$20) and Baked Eggs with Keema Pav. The Steak & Eggs featured a grass-fed striploin served with masala scrambled eggs. The striploin was evenly seared, well-seasoned, and flavorful, while the eggs, though nicely cooked, lacked much of a hint of masala.

IMG_8865
Baked Eggs with Keema Pav 4.5/5

The Baked Eggs with Keema Pav delivered the most distinct Indian flavours of the meal. The braised minced mutton was heady with spices and heat, rich and deeply savoury, while the accompanying soft, heavily buttered toast balanced the intensity with its comforting sweetness.

IMG_8778
Strawberry Shortcake 4/5

IMG_8767
Rum Chocolate Cake 4/5, Carrot Cake 4/5

Desserts are free-flow, featuring a rotating selection that includes Strawberry Shortcake, Cinnamon-Ginger Cookie, Rum Chocolate Cake, Bru Coffee Cannoli, and Carrot Cake with Cardamom Frosting. The Rum Chocolate Cake stood out with its crunchy Parle-G crumble — buttery-sweet bits made from India's nostalgic Parle-G biscuits. I also enjoyed the Strawberry Shortcake for its tender buttery sponge cake slathered with tart berry jam in between, and the Carrot Cake for its moist, spiced-forward sponge cake and velvety cardamom frosting.

IMG_8782

Champagne Superstar Brunch takes place every Saturday, 12pm to 230pm. The Marvelous ($68) is a food-only option, and the Magnificent Superstar Experience (+$70 per person) includes 2.5 hours of free-flow Bauget-Jouette Brut & Rosé Champagne, house red and white wines, brunch-time cocktails, house beer, soft drinks, and Masala chai. For the ultimate indulgence, the Massjestica Superstar (+$188) upgrades the experience with premium champagne.
