Meow BBQ @ Bugis+ - CNY Exclusive Meow BBQ 2025 Can Platter

Meow bbq can platter-5

Usher in the Chinese New Year with lively energy and festivities at Meow Barbecue, a popular Chinese cat-themed barbecue restaurant known for its cute meat platters designed to look like cat food cans. Gather your friends and indulge in a festive feast specially crafted to celebrate the Year of the Snake.

Yusheng-1
Prosperity Yu Sheng

Since it's Chinese New Year, Meow Barbecue has launched a Prosperity Yu Sheng with little abalones. It's available at both the Bugis+ and VivoCity outlets until 9 Feb, so you can lo hei with friends and family when you come here for your next barbecue feast.

Meow bbq can platter-1
CNY-exclusive Meow BBQ 2025 Can Platter

Of course, the highlight of the evening was the CNY-exclusive Meow BBQ 2025 Can Platter. This festive platter opens up with fanfare to reveal six cuts of meat and signatures, perfect for grilling and sharing (suggested 2-3 pax). From 13 Jan to 9 Feb, the Lucky Snake Can Platter is available at a special price of $88++ (U.P. $128) at both Bugis+ and VivoCity outlets.

Meow bbq can platter-4

The platter consists of:

• Thick Cut Iberico Pork Belly (120g)
• Wagyu Beef Short Ribs (120g)
• Thick Cut Pork Collar (120g)
• Meow Signature Spicy Chicken with Szechuan Pepper (150g)
• Diamond Cut Marinated Beef Ribs (120g)
• Rose Ox Tongue (100g)

Meat cooking-4

The platter offers a variety of delicious barbecue options, and the meat quality is satisfying. I was particularly intrigued by the signature spicy chicken with Szechuan pepper. Its bold, flavourful kick was delicious; I've not had BBQ chicken like this before. We also got to try ox tongue, which was a first for some at the table. You may opt to DIY or request that the staff help you grill the meat.

Meat cooking-6

With every Lucky Snake Can Platter purchased, customers are entitled to a chance to try their luck at Meow Barbecue's Chinese New Year Hong Bao Wall, a sure-win lucky draw offering a chance to win real gold, along with other exclusive prizes, including a cute pair of chopsticks and bowls adorned with adorable cat-themed designs, a limited-edition Meow Barbecue Exclusive 2025 Calendar, dining vouchers and other festive goodies!

Meat cooking-5

Customers also stand a chance to participate in the lucky draw for every $150++ spent and twice the chance if they spend $300++ on a single receipt.

Kimchi cheese pork belly-2

We also tried the Pork Belly with Kimchi and Cheese, prepared by layering kimchi and cheese onto the pork belly, then folding and grilling it — almost like a grilled cheese sandwich! The result is a mouthwatering pocket of melty cheese, and kimchi enveloped in tender pork belly. The staff then sliced it into portions for us to enjoy. This was something quite unique and enjoyable.

Cheese corn-1

We also participated in the Cheese Pull Challenge: Get 50% off every Cheese Corn (U.P. $6.80) ordered by simply tagging @meow_bbq on Instagram or Meow Barbecue on Facebook. Pull the cheese to 50cm or more to enjoy it for free! Honestly, the dish is rather simple, just consisting of melted cheese and corn. However, if you’re looking to have some fun, this could be an entertaining game to play at the table. Roll it well before stretching to ensure that you can get it above 50cm. In fact, our table stretched it to over a metre!

Dessert-2
Signature Caramel Pudding, Strawberry Cat Paw Jelly Pudding

For dessert, we had their Signature Caramel Pudding and Strawberry Cat Paw Jelly Pudding. I preferred the Caramel Pudding, which had a lovely custard texture and flavour. The Strawberry Jelly, though undeniably cute, was way too sweet for my taste.

Yusheng-3

Meow Barbecue has a playful and quirky vibe, with feline-themed décor and friendly staff that adds to the overall fun experience. The grilled meat served is fresh and tasty, and the prices are rather reasonable, making it a good choice for gatherings the next time those BBQ cravings strike!

Oscar's @ Conrad Centennial Singapore - Best of Oscar's Dinner Buffet Featuring Local & International Flavours Under One Roof

Ice Bar 3

Oscar's at Conrad Centennial Singapore is renowned for its abundant buffet offerings, emphasising quality ingredients and a diverse selection of dishes. The Best of Oscar's Dinner Buffet is no exception, bringing together a harmonious blend of local and international flavours that cater to all palates.

Restaurant 2

When you step into Oscar's, you're greeted with a warm and inviting ambience. The spacious, elegant dining area sets the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey. The attentive and courteous staff ensure that your dining experience is seamless and enjoyable from start to finish.

Ice Bar 1
Fresh Prawns on Ice 4/5

The Ice Bar offers a variety of fresh seafood on ice, such as prawns, clams, mussels, slipper lobsters and two types of oysters.

Ice Bar 4
Fresh Oysters 4/5

The buffet spread is a true feast for the senses. Highlights include Fresh Seafood On Ice, such as succulent oysters, prawns, slipper lobsters, clams and mussels, which are a delight for seafood lovers. We loved the sweetness of the fresh prawns; they were plump and crunchy, a testament to their quality. Oscar's offers two types of oysters from Ireland and Australia, and later in the evening, Japanese oysters made an appearance after the Australian ones ran out. The oysters from Ireland were very flavourful, while the Australian ones were plumper and juicier, each freshly shucked and placed on ice. The Slipper Lobsters were another standout, being sweet and meaty. Fresh salmon and tuna sashimi also added to the selection.

Salad 1
Compound Salad Bar 3.8/5

Cheese Wheel 1
Oscar’s Signature Caesar Salad 4/5

We usually skip the buffet salad station, but the Compound Salad Bar at Oscar's was so enticing that we couldn't resist trying a few items. We were pleasantly surprised by how beautifully seasoned even the simplest dishes, like the zucchini salad, were. Another standout feature was the enormous cheese wheel used for making Caesar Salad. You can select your preferred ingredients, add them to the cheese wheel, and have them all mixed.

Cheese & Charcuterie 1
Cheese & Charcuterie 3.5/5

Oscar's Cheese & Charcuterie selection is a feast for the senses. You'll find an impressive array of cheeses, including Camembert, Comte, Port Salut, and Emmental, perfectly paired with an assortment of charcuterie like Prosciutto di Parma, Salami, and Mortadella. Complementing these are fresh grapes, assorted crackers, walnuts, almonds, cashews, olives, and two types of chutney. There's also a variety of breads available, inviting you to slice your own and enjoy the freshest experience possible.

Western Mains 1
Classic Western Mains 4/5

We were particularly impressed with the Classic Western Mains section, especially the Mac & Cheese. The dishes are kept on a hot plate, ensuring the food stays warm and sizzling. This attention to detail meant we still managed to enjoy a delightful cheese pull with the Mac & Cheese, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Local Flavours 1
Local Flavours 3.5/5

If you have a penchant for Local Flavours, Oscar's will not disappoint. The buffet features an array of rice, noodles, and oriental dishes, complemented by various vegetables, seafood, and meats. Our favourite from this section was the Steamed Halibut with Sambal, perfectly cooked with spice.

Striploin 1
Roasted Beef Sirloin 3.8/5

Salmon Wellington 1
Salmon Wellington 3.8/5

The Live Station featured Roasted Beef Sirloin and Salmon Wellington. The beef was tender and juicy, with a robust, savoury flavour. However, our favourite was the Salmon Wellington, which had a unique twist with Otak hidden within the salmon, adding a delightful burst of flavour. Later in the evening, Truffle Roasted Chicken was brought out to replace the Salmon Wellington that had run out, but we found it a bit dry.

Noodle Station
Noodle Bar

Laksa
Laksa 4/5

The buffet extends to the restaurant's outdoor area, where you'll find a Noodle Bar offering a variety of options such as Signature Laksa, Prawn Noodle Soup, Fish Noodle Soup, and Wonton Noodle Soup. Our must-have is the laksa, which is creamy and bursting with flavour.

BBQ
BBQ Zone

The BBQ Zone featured a range of local favourites, including Spicy Kecap Garlic Confit Beef Steak, Calamari, Yakitori Chicken Skewers, and Homemade Pork Sausage. The standout dishes for us were the beef steak and the pork sausage, which were flavourful, juicy and well-cooked. All ingredients are freshly grilled, simply tell them your table number and they will be served to you directly instead of having to wait at the station.

Flavours of India
Flavours of India

In the Flavours of India section, the live tandoori station is a highlight, offering smoky-flavoured chicken chunks that are succulent and perfectly paired with freshly made naan. You can choose from a variety of naan options, such as Cheese or Butter, to complement your meal. Additionally, dishes like Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer are excellent choices to enjoy with the naan.

Dessert 6

Dessert 5

With so many tempting options, dessert is a must at Oscar's. Besides classics like Bread & Butter Pudding, Apple Crumble, freshly made Waffles, Chocolate Fountain, and Mövenpick Ice Cream, the small cakes and pastries are equally delightful. A standout is the Tiramisu, which boasts a melt-in-your-mouth, cloud-like texture and just the right amount of Kahlua for a perfect finish.

Trio Drinks

The buffet includes tea and Coffee, but if you are looking for an alternative drink for your dinner, Oscar's has a collection of local beverages such as Sugarcane with Lime, Bandung and Milo Dinosaur.

No Burn No Taste (NBNT) Private Dining By Chef Sam Chablani

NoBurnNoTaste-39

No Burn No Taste by Chef Sam Chablani is one of the most sought-after private dining destinations. Unfortunately, getting a booking at No Burn No Taste (NBNT) is not easy. The last I checked, the waitlist was already full for 2023/2024. I have followed Sam's cooking philosophy of marrying fire-driven barbecue with a distinctly Asian perspective, combining premium produce with traditional, time-honoured techniques since his days at the now-defunct Fat Lulu.

NoBurnNoTaste-35
Steamed Clams

Our dinner started with sweet Steamed Clams in an umami cream. I love the accompanying burnt garlic toast that is not only delicious but also allows me to soak up the delicious broth.

NoBurnNoTaste-20
Tomatoes and Burrata

Not everything on the menu is barbecue items such as the light and refreshing Tomatos and Burrata Salad helps freshen the palate and whet the appetite.

NoBurnNoTaste-26
Burnt Wings, Spicy Iberico Pork Satay

How can we not have chicken wings and satay when having a barbecue? It is torture to be seated just before the barbecue pit while the Burnt Wings and Spicy Iberico Pork Satay got kissed by the charcoal's heat.

NoBurnNoTaste-34
"Porn" Corn

Corn may be a common ingredient, but I remembered how Chef Sam had transformed it into a delicacy at Fat Fuku. The "Porn" Corn grilled to a nice charred on its external was extremely sweet.

NoBurnNoTaste-14
Charred Wagyu Skirt Steak MBS9

Moving to the mains, we had the Charred Wagyu Skirt MBS9 paired with Burnt Potatoes. Perfectly grilled to medium with beautiful pink tenderness and crispy charred edges, showcasing the intense marbling and rich beefy flavour.

NoBurnNoTaste-12

NoBurnNoTaste-09
Lychee-smoked Umami Crab, Lemon Garlic Butter

Besides the grilled chicken wings, pork satay and wagyu, our dinner includes seafood. The crowd's favourite for the night goes to the Crab, smoked with lychee wood paired with lemon garlic butter. The grilling and smoking enhanced the natural sweetness and brininess of the crustaceans while adding a hint of charred savoury notes.

NoBurnNoTaste-03
Spencer Gulf King Prawns

As delicious as the crab was the Spencer Gulf King Prawns in an intoxicating burnt sambal cream sauce, topped with coriander. I was screaming for some toasted bread to dredge them in that splendour sauce.

We paid $185 per person for the 10-course Umami BBQ Omakase. It is one of the more expensive private dining I have visited. However, it differs from your usual barbecue as every dish is thoughtfully executed to elevate the appreciation of the premium ingredients as good as any restaurant's standard.

IMG_5635

Unilever Buffet opened its doors starting mid-January 2023, offering diners a seafood and BBQ buffet in Jalan Pemimpin. It is $53.90 per adult, while children between 5 to 12 years old are at $23.90 per pax on weekdays and $27.90 per pax on weekends. They are running a 50% promo from now till April 2023, with more details on their Facebook page.

IMG_5637
Fresh Food Section

There are oysters, salmon sashimi, chirashi, prawns, mussels and scallops in the fresh food section, while the snow crab legs are provided in limited portions per pax. Though we appreciated the creaminess of the oysters, the freshness among the rest of the other items could have been better.

IMG_5626

IMG_5634
BBQ Section

BBQ is the highlight of the buffet here. They use smoke-free automatic grillers, which helps to reduce the possibility of lingering BBQ smells on your belongings after the meal.

IMG_5636

The selection includes fish, pork, chicken and beef, all available in 10 types of marination. The marinations are black pepper, Thai, German, sambal, Japanese, Korean, lemongrass, garlic, mala, and kimchi. A range of condiment dips is also available to pair with the eats. Unfortunately, we did find some of the marinations too salty, while the flavours we preferred more were the black pepper and German style.

IMG_5633
Cooked Food Section

For cooked food during our time of visit, there was a spread of 6 dishes - chilli crabs, sweet and sour fish, pork trotters, fried rice, fried noodles and vegetables with mushrooms. They were generous with the chilli crabs, but the overall quality of the spread could be improved.

Dessert Section

IMG_5640
Free Flow Bubble Tea

Lastly, for beverages, there is free flow bubble tea, alongside calamansi, blueberry and orange juices, while desserts were a mixture of bakes, such as eclair, cream puffs and swiss rolls.
