Carne & Caipirinha Brazilian Churrascaria @ Sunset Way

IMG_1661ed

It has been a while since I last visited Sunset Way. The place has undergone some changes with the opening of some new restaurants. One of the new kids on the block is Carne & Caipirinha Brazilian Churrascaria which offers Brazilian churrascaria that uses charcoal fire for roasting their quality meats imported directly from Brazil.

It is not just about roasted meat at Carne & Caipirinha. Before starting on the buffet of roasted meats, one can help themselves to the Salad Bar that are freshly prepared in house daily.

During my visit, the salad bar offers a selection of salads, pastas, rice and traditional Brazilian Feijoada. Brazilian Feijoada is a black bean stew. This is my first time having it and it is really good with the melted in the texture.

Once you are really for the unlimited servicing of the various slow roasted, you just need to flip the disc at the table to the green colour side. The passadors (chefs-cim-meat servers) who are dressed in traditional gaucho outfits, will go around the alfresco dining area with their skewer of roasted meat and carve portion of meat right onto diners' plates.

Pork Belly

Diners at Carne & Caipirinha can enjoy up to 17 different roasted items that are slow roasted over charcoal fire. The marquee dishes include Beef Rump Cap and Beef Hump. The beef rum cap is a very a valuable cut of beef and is superb in quality. The beef hump is a rare cut only found in the humped Brazilian cattle known as zebu, with its rich marbling.

The other roasted dishes are Pork Rib, Beef Rib, Chicken Heart, Grilled Pineapple, Cheese Bread & Garlic Bread, Pork Belly, Pork Ham, Pork Sausage, Fish, Chicken Thigh, Chicken Fillet in Bacon, Lamb Leg and Beef Rump.

To have a break or stop eating, just need to flip the disc to the red colour side.

With all these roasted meats, I would recommend washing it down with the Guarana Antarctica ($6) only available at Carne & Caipirinha. This is the first ever soft drink produced in Brazil and so called number one drink in Brazil. It tastes similar to Kickapoo or Mountain Dew that is less sweet.

LaBrezza @ St Regis Hotel Singapore

IMG_1681ed

LaBrezza at St Regis Hotel Singapore has heightened the dining experience with the Pasta Parade Wednesday and Risotto Revelry Thursday at $48++ per person, from 7pm to 10pm. The pasta and risotto are specially handcrafted by Chef de Cuisine, Luca Moioli. Diner has a choice of four tantalising pasta or risotto from a choice of six, served over two courses in a special duo plate of tasting portions.

Strigoli Pasta served with Homemade Basil Pesto 4.2/5

I am given a glimpse into the Pasta Parade Wednesday with the Strigoli Pasta served with Homemade Basil Pesto and Venetian-style Bigoli Pasta with Pan-seared Duck Foie Gras. The duo is among the choices of six selection available on the menu. The basil pesto coated evenly around the strigoli pasta hits the palate with the aroma of extra virgin olive oil, basil, and nutty pine nuts with each bite of the strigoli pasta. The strigoli pasta is not commonly seen in Singapore and cooked to an enjoyable al dente bite.

Venetian-style Bigoli Pasta with Pan-seared Duck Foie Gras 4.2/5

The other pasta dish I tried is the Venetian-style Bigolia Pasta with Pan-seared Duck Foie Gras. The long and thick tube pasta tossed in duck ragout gives it a rich robust finishing. The other pasta dishes available on the  Pasta Parade Wednesday's menu are Tagliolini Pasta with Boston Lobster, Linguine Pasta with Clams and Baby Zucchini, Paccheri Pasta filled with Kurobuta Pork Cheek and Ravioli filled with Beef, Prosciutto, Amaretti Biscuit and Raisin.

Fresh Herb Risotto with Boston Lobster 4.2/5, Beetroot Risotto with Gorgonzola Cheese 3.8/5

If you miss your date on Wednesday, don't worry there is Risotto Revelry Thursday. Out of the six risotto dishes on the menu, I tried the Fresh Herb Risotto with Boston Lobster and Beetroot Risotto with Gorgonzola Cheese. Both the risotto are beautifully flavoured with a good bite to it. However I preferred the fresh herb risotto more as I find the gorgonzola cheese on the acquire side. Saying that, using beetroot is really interesting and surprisingly delicious.

Oyster Bar 4.5/5

Besides Pasta Parade Wednesday and Risotto Revelry Thursday, LaBrezza also offers a delectable a la menu throughout the week. Four varieties of oysters from Canada and France, with three different cooking method to showcase the freshness. They are gratin oysters with herbs and breadcrumbs, crispy fried tempura and freshly shucked with condiments.

Pugliese Pizza 4.2/5

Italian cuisine is not only known for its pasta and risotto. They are well known for the pizza too. LaBrezza offers eight different choices on the menu. I had the Pugliese Pizza ($38) which may look simple and plain with the melted onion, pecorino romano, mozzarello, fontina and parmigiano reggiano, but this was just a disguise in appearance. The simplicity brought out the heightened appreciation of the ingredients.

Semifreddo Alla Vaniglia 4.2/5

Ending the night on a sweet night with the Semifreddo Alla Vaniglia ($16). The vanilla parfait is wrapped with mixed berry jelly, forest berry compote and basil lime sorbetto. The different components on the plate worked in harmony for a lovely closure of the night.

LaBrezza hidden in a corner at level 2 of St Regis Hotel is probably one of the lesser known restaurants in the property. The cozy and intimate ambience will be ideal for a date or private dinner.
