Morita Unigoro @ Stanley Street - An Exclusive 1-for-1 Six-course Dinner at $298++

MoritaUnigoro22

Osaka’s acclaimed uni omakase specialist Morita UNIGORO at Stanley Street launches an exclusive 1-for-1 six-course dinner at $298++, available daily for dinner until 31 July 2025. This limited-time offering presents a more accessible way to enjoy the restaurant’s premium uni-focused omakase, showcasing Hokkaido sea urchin alongside seasonal Japanese ingredients.

MoritaUnigoro2
Duo Sashimi 4.8/5

Our first course is a sashimi dish featuring two different cuts of tuna - Chutoro and Otoro. To enhance the enjoyment of the fatty tuna, diners can pair it with the accompanying sea salt and wasabi.

MoritaUnigoro7
New "Uniku" (Uni & Meat) 5/5

The next course is the New "Uniku" comprising Uni and Meat. The A5 Wagyu Uchimomo (top round) is slightly torched and served together with egg yolk and uni. The three ingredients seem unassociated or unrelated, but when you have them all together, the combination of flavour and texture is out of this world. It was almost heavenly, deliciously good.

MoritaUnigoro13
Tempura Scallop with Uni 4.5/5

Following that, we were served the Tempura Scallop with Uni. The plump and juicy scallop was lightly coated in a delicate, crispy batter, perfectly complementing the creamy sweetness of the uni. A touch of roasted seaweed tied all the elements together, enhancing both the aroma and umami, making for another beautifully executed and well-balanced dish.

MoritaUnigoro21

MoritaUnigoro18

The highlight of the six-course dinner is the Signature Uni Hot Pot. The hot pot comes with premium ingredients, including Uni, Lobster, Clam, Abalone, A5 Wagyu Beef Ribeye, Japanese Pork Belly, and Vegetables.

MoritaUnigoro30

MoritaUnigoro34
Signature Uni Hot Pot 4.8/5

The hot pot is brought to a boil, with uni added to the broth. Parmesan and olive oil are further added to elevate the taste profile. The ingredients are top-notch quality, too. The clam was the biggest I had ever seen and eaten; it was as big as my palm. The other highlight is the melt-in-the-mouth A5 wagyu.

MoritaUnigoro38
Uni Mixed Rice 4.2/5

To fill one's up, the last savoury course is the Uni Mixed Rice. The rice was fluffy and well-infused with the robust flavour from the uni. My only complaint is that the portion is too small. I don't understand why the restaurant is reluctant to offer a larger portion or provide diners with the option to choose a different-sized portion of rice to their preference.

MoritaUnigoro41
Homemade Granita 3.5/5

Last but not least, we wrapped up the meal on a sweet and refreshing note. The Homemade Granita was ideal after all the richness.

Latido @ Tras Street - Singapore’s First Colombian Restaurant Refreshes Its Menu with Vibrant New Dishes

LatidoJun25-39

Since my last visit to Latido, I’ve been raving about Singapore’s first and only Colombian restaurant to all my foodie friends. Naturally, I was excited to return and explore their refreshed menu, and once again, Chef Fernando and team did not disappoint.

LatidoJun25-5
Pan de la Casa 4.5/5

A returning favourite, the Pan de la Casa ($8) remains a must-order. This house-made rye bread is glazed with fermented mushrooms and maple, bringing a deep, earthy note that is layered with sweetness. Paired with a luscious caramelised butter, it's something we couldn't resist slathering generously on every slice.

LatidoJun25-9
Carimanolita de Queso 4/5

A delightful surprise, the Carimanolita de Queso ($18) presents a cheese block crafted from cassava, crème fraîche, and Oaxaca cheese, then finished with a touch of black truffle. It’s an unexpected combination, but it melds beautifully into a creamy, savoury bite with an aromatic lift.

LatidoJun25-20
Ceviche Tropical 4.2/5

A vibrant new addition, the Ceviche Tropical ($24) is a tropical medley of mango, chilli, coconut, and Leche de Tigre served over thick slices of fresh Hamachi. It’s bright, zesty, and refreshing, perfect for Singapore’s heat.

LatidoJun25-22
Nuestra Arepa 3.5/5

The Nuestra Arepa ($18) is Chef Fernando’s homely rendition of the classic Colombian flatbread. Stuffed with Taleggio cheese and accompanied by a sweet-and-spicy Nduja sauce, this comforting dish felt like something you’d find at a Colombian family table, simple, rustic, and soul-satisfying.

LatidoJun25-32
Pulpo Asado 4.5/5

One of the showstoppers of the evening was the Pulpo Asado ($42). The perfectly charred, smoky octopus was incredibly tender and paired with cucumber, avocado, and Guindilla pepper. A gentle reminder, eat the octopus with a bit of the pepper for an extra punch that rounds out the dish.

LatidoJun25-33
El Tamalito 3.8/5

A creative take on a traditional tamale, El Tamalito ($32) features chicken and polenta wrapped in banana leaf, served with aji sauce for spice and sugar pearls for a subtle sweetness. It’s a dish that balances savoury and sweet with finesse.

LatidoJun25-45
Pescado a la Parilla 4.8/5

The Pescado a la Parilla ($68) absolutely stole the show. A whole grilled sea bass served with coconut rice and deep-fried plantains, the fish was moist, tender, and cooked to perfection. It’s a hearty, flavour-packed main that captures the essence of Colombian coastal cuisine.

LatidoJun25-48
Maracuya y Caffee 4.2/5

We ended the meal with Maracuya y Caffee ($12), a glass of burrata ice cream glazed with fermented lulo juice, layered with passionfruit, macadamia nuts, and Colombian coffee sauce. Think of it as an elevated affogato, creamy, tangy, nutty, and nuanced.

Note: This is an invited tasting.

Cafe Oriental @ Amara Singapore - August Local Legends Series: KEK Seafood

IMG_6860

In celebration of SG60, Amara Singapore has partnered with two iconic local legends to present a unique dining experience at Cafe Oriental, blending nostalgic flavours with creative modern interpretations.

IMG_6796

IMG_6802

During my visit in May, I had the opportunity to experience the collaboration with the century-old Chin Mee Chin Confectionery, featuring signature savoury dishes like Curry Chicken, Char Kway Teow, and Mee Siam, alongside sweet treats including Kaya Toast, Chocolate Cupcake, and an exclusive Durian Horn Pastry.

IMG_6881

From August 5 to 31, the spotlight shifts to renowned zi char brand KEK Seafood, known for its wok hei-rich classics and inventive creations. Diners can savour the collaboration during lunch (12pm to 2.30pm) and dinner (6pm to 9pm) at Cafe Oriental.

IMG_6809
Spicy Crab Meat Pasta 3/5

The Spicy Crab Meat Pasta offered a sweeter, milder take than what we'd personally prefer. However, it may serve newcomers to the dish well, although our pasta was slightly overcooked.

IMG_6849
Prawn Paste Chicken Burger 3.8/5

The local favourite 'Har Cheong Gai' can be found in the Prawn Paste Chicken Burger, served with a side of crunchy sweet potato fries. The chicken patty was thick and juicy, but it was a touch dry overall.

IMG_6820

IMG_6826
Lala Pot 4/5

The Lala Pot swaps the usual clear broth for a hearty collagen base, served with thick vermicelli and a splash of brandy on the side. Clams were fresh and sweet.

IMG_6829
Butter Cereal Fish & Egg Fried Rice 3.5/5

The cereal fish from the Butter Cereal Fish & Egg Fried Rice was a standout, being both crispy and tender, with a distinct butter aroma. The egg fried rice, however, was dry and fell short of expectations.

IMG_6830
Black Pepper Angus Beef

While we don’t take beef, we heard fellow dining companions mention that the Black Pepper Angus Beef was peppery and tender.

IMG_6833
Marmite Pork Chop 4/5

The Marmite Pork Chop featured thick pork cuts coated in a well-balanced marmite glaze, sweet and savoury.

IMG_6844
Bak Kut Teh 3.8/5

Surprisingly enjoyable, the collaboration’s Bak Kut Teh had a peppery broth that was aromatic without being overpowering, paired with tender ribs.

IMG_6865
Spiced Chilli Prawns with Mantou 3.8/5

The sweet chilli sauce in the Spiced Chilli Prawns with Mantou was mild enough for spice-averse diners. Served with fried mantou for dipping.

IMG_6869
KEK Signature Moonlight Horfun 4/5

One of our KEK Seafood's must-order items is definitely the KEK Signature Moonlight Horfun. Wok-hei flavour remains distinct here, and the horfun is satisfying.

IMG_6875
Chocolate Cupcake, Durian Horn Pastry

We got to sample desserts from Chin Mee Chin, their Chocolate Cupcake and Durian Horn Pastry. These old-school-style bakes will satisfy those with a sweet tooth.

Shin Katsu @ Tanjong Pagar Road - Tonkatsu Speciality Shop By Former Head Chef of Ma Maison

IMG_5397

Shin Katsu is a newly opened tonkatsu speciality shop in Tanjong Pagar, bringing fresh excitement to Singapore's Japanese dining scene. Helmed by Chef Matsubayashi Masato, a tonkatsu specialist and former Head Chef of Ma Maison, who brings over 15 years of experience from Japan, Spain, and Singapore. At Shin Katsu, Chef Masato brings his long-held culinary vision to life, focusing on premium pork cuts and a perfected breading technique to deliver tonkatsu that's crisp on the outside and juicy within.

IMG_5444
Mangalica Rosu Katsu

The menu centres on premium, globally sourced pork cuts curated by Chef Masato, coated in a tried-and-tested panko breading technique that delivers a satisfying crunch while preserving the meat's succulence. The signature here is the Hungarian Mangalica pork ($42.80/160g), often dubbed the "Kobe beef of pork" for its rich marbling and buttery mouthfeel. Served in limited quantities daily, the Mangalica pork loin cutlet comes with a specially paired salt, refillable miso soup, charcoal-grilled rice, shredded cabbage, and housemade pickles.

IMG_5416
Tonkatsu Sauce

The housemade Tonkastu Sauce was umami and sweet, with a fruity acidity that complement the richness of the cutlet well.

IMG_5457
Mangalica Rosu Katsu Set 4.8/5

All tonkatsu dishes come with the set mentioned. I appreciate how every element on the plate was thoughtfully executed. The miso soup was sweet and savoury, with tender slices of daikon. The charcoal-grilled rice was plump, glossy, and subtly smoky. The cabbage was fine-cut and refreshingly crisp, while the radish pickles struck the right balance of acidity without being overly sharp. For those seeking variety, leaner yet flavourful options like the U.S. Kurobuta Rosu (pork loin) and Hire (pork tenderloin) are also available.

IMG_5440
Katsu Curry 4/5

The menu is also rounded out with familiar comforts such as Ebi Fry and Chicken Katsu sets, along with Katsu Curry featuring a housemade sauce that truly deserves a try. Their curry sauce, made with charcoal powder and squid ink, is available à la carte as well. It's well-balanced, savoury without being overly sweet, and far more nuanced than the standard Japanese curry fare.

IMG_5412
Chicken Thigh Skewer 4.5/5, Asparagus Skewer 4.5/5

To complement the mains, Shin Katsu also offers deep-fried skewers and small plates. I tried the Chicken Thigh Skewer ($3.80) and the Asparagus Skewer ($2.80). The skewers use a different type of panko, resulting in a distinct texture and flavour profile that delivers a unique experience compared to the tonkatsu.

IMG_5466
Unagi 4.5/5, Kaki Fry 4.5/5

Among the appetisers, two seafood items stood out: the Unagi ($8.80) and Kaki Fry (oyster) ($4.30). Both were beautifully crisp outside, while the interiors, unctuous unagi and briny oyster, paired incredibly well with a tangy, rich tartare sauce, making each bite indulgent and addictive.

IMG_5403
Boneless Chicken Wings 4.5/5

A likely crowd-pleaser is the sweet and savoury Boneless Chicken Wings ($8.80) glazed in a sweet tare and finished with a sprinkle of peppery-salty seasoning.

IMG_5418

It's been a while since a dedicated tonkatsu concept came into the scene, and Shin Katsu impresses with its attention to detail, from the precise frying technique to the side dishes and thoughtful accompaniments.

Pura Brasa @ Guoco Tower - All New Pinchos Menu Featuring Spanish Snacks From S5 and Caviar Add-ons at Just $15

Pinchos 1

Pura Brasa, the Spanish grill restaurant known for its bold flavours and signature Josper-grilled dishes, has just launched a brand-new Pinchos menu packed with irresistible bites perfect for after-work drinks, weekend catch-ups, or a flavour-packed snack. Each pincho is affordably priced from $5 to $9 for two pieces, with the option to elevate your experience with indulgent caviar add-ons at just $15 for two scoops.

Pinchos 2

We sampled eight out of the twelve newly introduced Pinchos, and while each item arrives as a one-biter, don't be fooled – these small bites are bursting with robust, satisfying flavours. Served in pairs, they're deceptively filling and moreish.

Txaka 1
Txaka

Pincho De Gamba 1
Pincho De Gamba

Pincho Moruno
Pincho Moruno

From the ocean, the Txaka (crab salad pincho) stood out with its creamy, indulgent texture and real crab meat on toast. The Pincho de Gamba, with juicy prawns, romesco sauce and house-made aioli, brought brightness and punch. At the same time, Pincho Moruno – marinated Iberico pork with Biquillo peppers delivered smoky depth on a crisp slice of toast.

There's something here for every palate, whether you lean towards seafood or meat. With the most premium option priced at just $9, the Pinchos are not only flavourful but offer fantastic value. They also pair brilliantly with a glass of cava, sangria or a classic gin tonic, making them ideal for a casual, flavour-forward evening.

Paella 1

Paella 2

Paella 3
Charcoal Seafood Paella

For those looking to round out the meal with a main dish, we highly recommend the Charcoal Seafood Paella ($39 for small / $61 for large). Rich, deeply savoury and brimming with fresh prawns, mussels and baby octopus, this paella is one of the most flavourful we've had in Singapore. Cooked over charcoal, it carries a smoky aroma and delivers the coveted crispy "socarrat" at the bottom if you let it sit before diving in. It may lean slightly salty for some, but for those who enjoy bold flavours, this is not to be missed.

Restaurant 1

Restaurant 2

Whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or planning a relaxed meal with friends, Pura Brasa's new Pinchos menu adds a fun, flavour-packed dimension to its already stellar Spanish line-up. Wallet-friendly and expertly executed, these bites are designed for sharing, delivering both great taste and value.

The Pinchos Special is available on weekdays 3-6pm, and weekends 12-6pm.
