Pacific Emporium @ Pan Pacific Singapore - Local Inspired Afternoon Tea
A new afternoon tea experience at Pacific Emporium, Pan Pacific Singapore, celebrates our region's rich tapestry of local flavours and culinary traditions. The selection of sweet and savoury bites is thoughtfully curated and presented on a three-tier stand, accompanied by a fine selection of teas, coffee, or champagne as an add-on if you so wish.
The ambience is set with contemporary elegance, inviting guests to unwind and simply enjoy the afternoon. We were seated in one of the personal pods, which afforded us a cosy and relaxing space to enjoy our afternoon tea.
From the top tier, we had a Baba Ghanoush Avocado Bowl on Squid Ink Baguette, a colourful and tasty bite to whet the palate.
The middle tier showcased an exquisite selection of sweets: Hazelnut Crunchy Dark Coco, Apple Yuzu Citrus, Coconut Bandung with Chendol, and Mango Pomelo Sablé. Each one was well-balanced in flavour, and I particularly enjoyed the Mango Pomelo Sablé, which had refreshing tropical fruits encased in a buttery shell.
The bottom tier featured more substantial savouries, such as the Wagyu Beef Sando from Keyaki, Salted Egg Yolk Yam Puff from Hai Tien Lo, Singapore Chilli Crab Meat and Egg Custard cup with crispy Mini Bun, and Penang Crispy Pork Lobak with Five Spices wrapped in Bean Curd Skin.
On weekends, it gets even better with the Local Experience Live Stations, where guests can indulge in all-you-can-eat selections of local favourites. We ordered many warm, comforting bowls of tangy Penang Assam Laksa and Prawn Noodle Soup at the noodle station with fresh tiger prawn, water spinach and sliced pork. The broth was just too tasty!
For a bowl of Wok Hei Char Kway Teow with pacific crab meat, simply order it from the kitchen. It will come straight to your table piping hot.
The crêpe station was also really popular! Everyone wanted one of those freshly made crispy crêpes slathered with a thick layer of creamy D24 durian. That day, they were also offering the classic option of chocolate banana crêpes as an alternative. While waiting, feel free to help yourself to the DIY Fruit rojak.
This local-inspired Afternoon Tea experience is now available at Pacific Emporium with two daily seatings from 1pm to 3pm (1st seating) and 4pm to 6pm (2nd seating). The Local Experience Live Stations are available as part of the afternoon tea experience on weekends only.
The pricing is as follows:

$88++ per person (includes a glass of Taittinger Brut Réserve Champagne)

Lobby Lounge @ Conrad Centennial Singapore - The Return of the Strawberry Afternoon Tea Featuring Amaou Strawberries
As January heralds in the peak season of Amaou Strawberries of Fukuoka, Conrad Centennial Singapore's Lobby Lounge has recently relaunched its exclusive Strawberry Afternoon Tea. Also known as the "King of Japanese Strawberries," delight in Amaou's sweetness from now till 31 March 2024. The specially curated menu features fresh Amaou Strawberries sourced from Fukuoka, farmed under stringent guidelines to preserve their exceptional flavour and deep red hue appearance, and includes exquisitely crafted strawberry-centric delights for a complete Amaou experience.
Start your afternoon tea with Air Flown Japanese Strawberry with Valrhona Chocolate Dip while the chocolate is still warm. The classic pairing of chocolate and strawberries will create a perfect prelude to a relaxing afternoon. The Amaou strawberries, given their exceptional flavour, are just as indulgent on their own.
Whipped Brie
Fresh Strawberry Balsamic Bruschetta
The savoury items were delectable, with a well-considered blending of savoury ingredients and the sweet, fruity, fresh profile of strawberries. My favourite items were the Fresh Strawberry Balsamic Bruschetta and Whipped Brie. The bruschetta was layered with Citrus Cream Cheese, topped with sliced strawberries and seared duck, and sweetened with Cantaloupe Gel. The latter, featuring whipped brie, was topped with Balsamic Strawberry, Fruit Chutney, and Kiwis. The contrasting flavour notes and creamy mouthfeel amped up the lusciousness of the strawberries.
Strawberry, Mango, Scallop Tart
Strawberry, Mango, Scallop Tart was interesting with saltish Pickles and sweet Candied Orange. Again, the juxtaposition of the sweet and savoury notes of the ingredients was delicious, and in addition to that, this dainty pink tart was packed with textural crunch as well. The strawberry tart itself emanated a delightful whiff of strawberry aroma each time I took a bite of the tart.
Salmon Rillettes
Besides strawberries, Salmon Rillettes also highlights the use of Sustainable Caviar - Avruga caviar, distinguished by the Marine Stewardship Council's "Chain of Custody" certification.
Strawberry Meringata
Moving on to the sweets, the Strawberry Meringata was well-received by diners. A balance of creamy, fruity freshness and crunchy elements was put together using decadent double vanilla cream and tangy marinated strawberry spiked with crisped slow-baked Meringue.
Strawberry Shortcake
Strawberry Shortcake is a classic done right with softy and fluffy sponge cakes layered with Fresh Strawberries and Hokkaido Whipping Cream.
Strawberry Mint
Strawberry Mint was gorgeous in a bright red hue - this strawberry treat was filled with Fresh Strawberry Mint Compote encased within a layer of Vanilla Whip.
Tahitian Vanilla Whip
Tahitian Vanilla Whip, Strawberry Compôte is pretty with Strawberry Marmalade, Vanilla Ganache. Its sweetness was a bit too much for me.
Scones
Homemade Strawberry Scone and Raisin Scone didn't disappoint. It wasn't too buttery, with just a hint of sweetness. Hence, the accompanying clotted cream and Homemade Wild Strawberry Jam were the ideal spread for them.
The Strawberry Afternoon Tea is served at Lobby Lounge daily from 8 January 2024 to 31 March 2024 in two seating: from 1 pm to 3 pm and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, priced at $50++ per person on weekdays and $52++ per person on weekends, inclusive of a two-hour free flow of tea and coffee, with an option to include 2 hours of unlimited Prosecco at $28++. Golden Peony @ Conrad Centennial Singapore - Celebrate the Roaring Year of the Dragon with a Line-up of Cantonese Creations
Weaving his expertise in Cantonese cuisine with modern elements, Executive Chinese Chef Ku Keung of Golden Peony presents an array of Lunar New Year set menus and a la carte specialities to celebrate the roaring year of the Dragon.
From now until 24 February 2024, diners can select from lavish set menus for intimate and group celebrations. The chef has even thoughtfully prepared a vegetarian menu for vegetarian diners. The 6 set menus range from $178 per pax to $2698 per table of 10.
Fortune Gold Flakes ‘Yu Sheng’ 4.2/5
The Fortune Gold Flakes 'Yu Sheng' ($188 for 10 pax) features a medley of ingredients, including lobster, baby abalone, crispy whitebait, golden coin chicken bak kwa, fish skin, and fresh fruit. This festive mainstay dish is also available for takeaway or delivery.
Multigrain Rice Ball Infused with Chicken Purée and Smoked Chili Sauce 4/5
The chef's disciple created the Multigrain Rice Ball Infused with Chicken Purée and Smoked Chili Sauce. It had several unique elements that were all made from chicken - a chicken purée, chicken pâté, and even a chicken bak kut teh like jelly on the side.
Spanish Carabinero Prawn ‘Yuan Yang’ Fish Paste Noodle 4.2/5
My favourite dish of the night was the Spanish Carabinero Prawn 'Yuan Yang' Fish Paste Noodle ($48 per person). The slightly springy fish paste noodles sit in a delicate egg white and Chinese wine broth, with two pieces of sweet Spanish Carabinero Prawns done two ways - thoroughly steamed and half cooked.
Duck Breast Stewed with Hawthorn, Snow Pear and American Ginseng 4/5
Next was the Duck Breast Stewed with Hawthorn, Snow Pear and American Ginseng ($38 per person). While the duck was tender, the sauce was a bit sweeter than I'd prefer.
Lobster Superior Broth with Preserved Vegetables, Tomato and Beancurd 4.2/5
Another highlight for me was the Lobster Superior Broth with Preserved Vegetables, Tomato and Beancurd. It is Chef's rendition of the increasingly popular suan cai yu, with a bolder and spicier kick. The plump and fleshy lobster was sweet and tender.
Roasted Suckling Pig Stuffed with Kimchi Fried Rice and Chicken 4.2/5
The Chef's unique suckling pig creation is an annual Lunar New Year highlight at Golden Peony. This year, the Chef brought to the table a Roasted Suckling Pig Stuffed with Kimchi Fried Rice and Chicken ($468 for Whole). It's packed to the brim with kimchi fried rice and a surprise centre of fried chicken.
Chilled Dragon Fruit with Crystal Pearls 4/5
We wrapped up the dinner with a two-part dessert. First, it was the refreshing Chilled Dragon Fruit with Crystal Pearls. It was put together with the fruit's flesh, popping pearls and a scoop of dragon fruit ice cream.
Trio of Warm Desserts 4.2/5
Second, the warm Trio of Crispy Sesame Ball was filled with Egg Custard, Dragon Beard Candy with Crushed Peanuts and Tau Sar Piah. These were classic snacks done well.

Peach Blossoms @ PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay - Usher in The Majestic Year of The Dragon
Herald the Year of the Dragon with an array of Lunar New Year dine-in menus and takeaways at Peach Blossoms, curated by Executive Chinese Chef Edward Chong and his team. Six luxurious set menus are being presented this year, and we had the pleasure of trying the Year of the Dragon Imperial set at $398 per person.
Peach Blossoms Auspicious Yu Sheng 4/5
Peach Blossoms Auspicious Yu Sheng comprises a vibrant medley of fruits and vegetables, with individual serving of Kanpachi and Hokkaido Uni. The abundant fruits include fresh strawberries, kiwi, jackfruit, nashi pear, rockmelon, honeydew, and jambu.
Double Boiled Geoduck and Chicken Mousse Soup 4/5
Double Boiled Geoduck and Chicken Mousse Soup features a delicate butterfly-shaped chicken mousse and thin slices of geoduck blanched in the soup itself. Boiled over eight hours with free-range chicken, the soup is further sweetened with corn and peas.
Braised Dried Abalone, Fish Maw and Chicken 5/5
The next course is a dish that requires expertise and skills for execution - Braised Dried Abalone, Fish Maw and Chicken. The South Africa dried abalone is laboriously prepared in-house over the course of 2 to weeks. The abalone is complemented with a free-range chicken drumstick, expertly deboned with the meat removed. It is then stuffed with fish maw and sauce before being cooked.
Japanese Sea Cucumber, Sturgeon Fish Tendon Dumpling 4.5/5
The following course is an exquisite dish - Japanese Sea Cucumber, Sturgeon Fish Tendon Dumpling with Superior Sauce. Sturgeon fish is chosen for its head resembling a mythical dragon to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. The fish dumpling filling combines sturgeon meat and its prized tendon. A succulent Japanese sea cucumber in a sweet pumpkin and sturgeon broth is served alongside. The pan-fried Japanese sea cucumber had an enjoyable bouncy texture, further enhanced by its sturgeon meat filling.
Snow Crab and Wild Mushrooms 4/5
Next, we indulged in Snow Crab and Wild Mushrooms, served with Thai Jasmine Rice. The rice was savoury with nuttiness and crunch from toasted pine nuts. The snow crab leg meat was presented in a chawanmushi style, elevating it into a more complete dish.
Desserts 5/5
Desserts were the highlight for me. Aesthetically presented in a Japanese garden-like setting, we had Green Tea Puff with Osmanthus, Pineapple Sorbet and Red Date Cake. The latter was my favourite, reminiscent of a red bean rice cake. The Green Tea Puff was creatively crafted with cucumber slices, imparted a delightful crunch and flavour that perfectly complemented the green tea paste. The Pineapple Sorbet pleases in the form of a majestic stone lion for prosperity this Lunar New Year.
Peanuts and Pine Nuts Soup 5/5
Concluding the meal was a warm and comforting Peanuts and Pine Nuts Soup encased in an eye-catching shell, which can be cracked open with a mini golden mallet to usher in the brand new year.
In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Peach Blossoms presents six specially curated Lunar New Year set menus, which include the seven-course Blessings set at $2,388 per table of 10. The six-course Year of the Dragon Imperial set is at $398++ per person.
