Ristorante Takada @ Alexis Condominium - An Italian-Japanese Restaurant By Chef Masahiro Takada

Takada-17

Ristorante Takada is an Italian-Japanese restaurant located at Alexis Condominium. It is helmed by Chef Masahiro Takada, who has honed his skills in Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy and Japan. We have the 5-course Omakase Dinner priced at $158.

Takada-07

Before starting the omakase dinner, we are served complimentary bread paired with olive oil and balsamic.

Takada-02
Mushroom Soup 4/5

We started with dinner with Mushroom Soup served in a coffee cup. With the layer of foam, it felt like we were having a cup of mushroom cappuccino.

Takada-13
3 Kind Of Mix Appetizer 3.5/5

Our first course is a Trio of Appetizer. We have Scallop & Prawn, Burrata with Tomato & Parma Ham, and Smoked Duck on the plate. I felt the appetizer lacked the finesse I was expecting, but they were good tasting.

Takada-15
Lobster with Hokkaido Scallop and Hamaguri Clam 4.2/5

The next course is the lavish Lobster with Hokkaido Scallop and Hamaguri Clam drenched in a bright orange sauce. I am not sure what the sauce is, but it is sweet, creamy, and tangy that complements the fresh seafood.

Takada-19
Tagliolini Hokkaido Sea Urchin with Squid Ink Sauce 4.2/5

For the pasta dish, we have the Tagliolini Hokkaido Sea Urchin with Squid Ink Sauce. There are two ways of enjoying the pasta. The first is to appreciate the creaminess and sweetness of the uni. Second, you can have it with the squid ink sauce to enjoy another taste profile from the sea.

Takada-24
Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Steak with Red Wine Sauce 4.8/5

For mains, it was the Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Steak with Red Wine Sauce cooked beautifully to medium-rare. Known as the best wagyu beef in Japan for its signature marbling, the meat stood out for its buttery texture and dense beefy flavour.

Takada-27
Dessert 4/5

Wrapping up the five-course dinner is a trio of desserts. On the plate, we have a slice of Burnt Cheesecake, Tiramisu and Raspberry Sorbet. The tiramisu is a bit heavy for me with the soaked alcohol in the finger. I have a light palate; hence my preference is the burnt cheesecake and raspberry sorbet.

Takada-30
Petite Four

Last but not least, we have Madeleine for Petite Four. The soft sponge cake with crispy edge completes an enjoyment omakase meal at Ristorante Takada.

SofiteCityCentreXmas27

Sofitel Singapore City Centre celebrates Art de Noel this holiday season with a glistening ensemble of festive culinary delights and a magical dining experience. Diners can feast in style at Racines for its Christmas Joy A La Carte Semi-Buffet, available for dinner on Christmas Eve, 24 December and brunch on Christmas Day, 25 December. Diners can look forward to a variety of French and Asian highlights, specially curated for the season by Racines' brigade of Chefs and served individually as small plates specials.

SofiteCityCentreXmas2

SofiteCityCentreXmas3

We started our Christmas feast at Racines with some complimentary bread paired with Truffle Butter and Kaya spread.

SofiteCityCentreXmas7
Truffle Chicken Liver Pate 4.2/5

I love pate, and what's more fitting to start the dinner with the Truffle Chicken Liver Pate with Morel Mushrooms and Melba Toast. I enjoyed the chicken liver pate so much that I finished the whole bottle with the rest of the complimentary bread.

SofiteCityCentreXmas11
Baked Oyster Rockefeller 4/5

Next, we have the Baked Oyster Rockefeller with sauteed spinach and tarragon sabayon, whetting up the appetite.

SofiteCityCentreXmas15
Roasted Chestnut Veloute 4.2/5

I enjoyed the Roasted Chestnut Veloute. It is something different from the usual lobster bisque or mushroom soup.  It even comes with a spinach cheese ravioli and bacon creme in it.

SofiteCityCentreXmas17
Carpaccio Hokkaido Scallops 4.5/5

The surprise for the night has to be the Carpaccio Hokkaido Scallops served in a hot kombu broth, with baby vegetables, ikura and bonito. It is my first time having raw scallop done this way. I enjoyed how the kombu broth brightens the sweetness of the scallops.

SofiteCityCentreXmas21
Beef Pithivier 4.5/5

For our mains, we had the Beef Pithivier. The beautiful char-grilled beef tenderloin paired with mushroom paste is wrapped in a flaky puff pastry. It is tender and juicy, dressed in its natural jus to enjoy its lovely natural beefy flavour.

SofiteCityCentreXmas28
Roasted Whole Duck with Chestnut Stuffing 4.8/5

SofiteCityCentreXmas32

A medley of sweet and savoury goodies is available for takeaway to spread warmth and joy at your Christmas celebrations. I understand some people are not a fan of turkey. If you are not a fan, I will highly recommend the Roasted Whole Duck with Chestnut Stuffing. I enjoyed the duck so much that I had a second helping. I'm not sure whether it is the roasting technique; the duck has an enjoyable succulence unlike any I have eaten so far. It is available for takeaway. To order, visit our e-shop at https://sofitelsingaporecitycentre.oddle.me/en_SG

Wrapping up our dinner at Racines, we have a selection of desserts to ring in the festive seasons on a sweet note.

Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant @ Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium - New Signature Dishes Crafted By Chef Chan Kung Lai

XinCuisine24

Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant at Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium presents 4 new signature dishes crafted by their Head Chef Chan Kung Lai. Hoping to bring a taste of his hometown, Hong Kong, to Singapore, he has infused his speciality in seafood in his new launch.

XinCuisine30
Combination Platter 4/5

We started with an appetiser that showcases some of Xin Cuisine's signature bestsellers - Home-style Roast Duck with Tea Leaves, Deep Fried Prawn coated with Yuzu Sauce and Stir-fried Assorted Mushroom with White Truffle Oil. My favourite would be the prawn which held a very light crispy batter that gave it a slight crunch, brightened with a fruity and citrusy yuzu sauce.

XinCuisine33
Stir-fried Lobster with Egg White and Crab Roe 4/5

Stir-fried Lobster with Egg White and Crab Roe holds a piece of succulent lobster atop a cloud of egg white. The crab roe acts as the perfect seasoning for the subtlety of their flavours.

XinCuisine8
Poached Sea Perch with Chinese Rice Wine 4.5/5

The Poached Sea Perch with Chinese Rice Wine displayed an even richer texture and flavour to a seared or baked version, taking another approach to their usual sea perch dish. The Chinese Rice Wine broth was a key to this dish, too - savoury sweet, and the smell of it was so comforting that it brought this dish to another level.

XinCuisine20
Seafood Poached Rice in Superior Broth served with Crispy Rice 3/5

A mainstay of their menu is this Seafood Poached Rice in Superior Broth served with Crispy Rice. While the flavour of the Seafood Poached Rice and its texture were great, I feel a much richer broth would have made this dish even more enjoyable.

XinCuisine21
Deep-fried Sesame Ball with Red Bean and Chocolate Liqueur Filling 3/5

Our dessert was a modern version of a deep-fried sesame ball - Deep-fried Sesame Ball with Red Bean and Chocolate Liqueur Filling. Akin to having a liqueur filled chocolate, a bite into it and outflow the hot chocolate liqueur lava. I like the mochi-like dough that was very chewy but wasn't heavy and dense at all. The alcohol element was a pleasant surprise, but I wish for more red bean filling with the mochi dough.

Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant also serves a la carte dim sum. It offers delivery for orders made through its eShop, Foodpanda, GrabFood and Deliveroo. Follow its Facebook page or newly launched Instagram account @xincuisine for new launches and promotions.

Garden At One-Ninety @ Four Seasons Hotel Singapore - Breezy Alfresco Space With Lush Greenery And An Inclusive Menu

GardenAtOneNinety24

Probably not known to many, there is a beautiful, lush, botanical-themed dining place at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. Garden @ One-Ninety is the extension of the terrace area behind One-Ninety Bar. Chef de Cuisine Pierre Barusta has put together a menu focusing on market-fresh produce and wholesome plant-based cuisine. The inclusive menu allows for enjoyable dining for all, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free preferences. In addition, it embraces the diversity and spectrum of personal dietary and lifestyle choices of today's guests.

GardenAtOneNinety13
Vietnamese Salad 3/5

We commenced our dinner with a couple of starters. First is the light and refreshing Vietnamese Salad dressed in "Nuoc Mam" sauce, better known as fish sauce. However, I find it too healthy to my liking. I am sure health-conscious customers will enjoy this.

GardenAtOneNinety7
Summer Rolls 3.5/5

Another Vietnamese item on the menu is the Summer Rolls that is wrapped with rice vermicelli, green mango, papaya, avocado and fresh herbs. The addition of fruit in the roll gives it extra sweetness and crunch.

GardenAtOneNinety18
Hamachi Tiradito 4/5

The Hamachi Tiradito is closer to my palate. The freshness is brightened by the citrus-soy and jalapeno garnished with daikon.

GardenAtOneNinety21
Pan Seared Seabass 4.2/5

One of my favourite dishes on the menu is the Pan Seared Seabass, which comes in laksa broth. What's more interesting, it even comes with thick beehoon, quail egg and kai lan bean sprout. I felt I had a 2-in-1 dish - local laksa topped with a huge piece of seabass fillet.

GardenAtOneNinety33
Garden Burger 3.8/5

The Garden Burger will be a good option for customers that are more conscious of the diet. Replacing the bread bun is pita bread, sandwiching a chickpea patty and semi-dried tomatoes. I would recommend drenching the burger with the hummus spread as the chickpea patty is a bit dry having it alone.

GardenAtOneNinety34
Dark Chocolate Souffle 4.2/5

I would recommend saving some space for the desserts here. The Dark Chocolate Souffle with Darjeeling Ice Cream is worth every minute for the wait. Soft, fluffy and chocolatey for a sweet indulgence.

GardenAtOneNinety39
Profiteroles 4.2/5

Another beautiful dessert we enjoyed was the Profiteroles with Gianduja ice cream. When it was served, both my dining partner and I had a puzzled look. It is not like the usual choux pastry dessert we know. It appears like a deconstructed profiteroles, but it tasted amazing, especially with the royaltine crunch

Open Farm Community @ Minden Road - New Farm To Feast, Reinvigorate The Different Relationships Found On The Dining Table

OpenFarmCommunity17

Open Farm Community (OFC), Singapore's pioneering urban farm and restaurant concept, launches Farm Feast. It is a new family-style tasting menu designed to reinvigorate the different relationships on the dining table - between friends and families, as well as diners and their food. Each feast serves an array of snacks, starters, mains, house-made accompaniments, and desserts that can be adjusted to any group size. It is priced at $88 per pax for dinner, with a minimum company of two.

OpenFarmCommunity11
SG Grown Radishes 4.2/5

We started with the SG Grown Radishes that is freshly plucked and served from farm to table. It is paired with cultured cream and sourdough crumble. It is my first time having raw radish. It has an enjoyable sweetness similar to a guava couple with a delightful crunchy texture.

OpenFarmCommunity6
Cauliflower Wings 4/5

Interestingly the Cauliflower Wings are shaped to look like chicken drumettes. It is coated in an addictive tamarind miso sauce, finished with sprinkles of sesame and green onions. It works for me, and I think children that dislike eating vegetables will enjoy this too.

OpenFarmCommunity15
OFC Farm Sweet Corn 4.2/5

One of my favourite starters is the OFC Farm Sweet Corn from the restaurant's farm. The grilled corn is very sweet. It surprises me that our local farm can produce such top-quality ingredients.

OpenFarmCommunity12
Hokkaido Scallop 4.2/5

The Hokkaido Scallop was plump, sweet and beautifully seared. However, what caught my attention is the sweet, smooth and creamy corn puree that complement the scallop excellently.

OpenFarmCommunity31
Grassfed NZ Short Ribs 3.8/5

For the mains, we had the Grassfed NZ Short Ribs. The bone-in meat is roasted to tender and doused in a Mexican mole sauce, giving it a spicy, smoky and sweet note. It is further enhanced with the topping of caramelised, pickled and deep-fried onions.

OpenFarmCommunity38

OpenFarmCommunity34

Accompanying the mains, we have a couple of house-made accompaniments such as Ancient Grains & Seeds, Smashin' Pumpkin, SG Green Salad and QJ's Kimchi. Unfortunately, I didn't quite get my head around the concept of the accompaniments as they did not complement the short ribs.

OpenFarmCommunity39

Before moving to the dessert, we had the refreshing Cucumber Sorbet for pre-dessert.

OpenFarmCommunity41

Wrapping up the Farm Feast is the decadent Chocolate Dessert made from Single Origin beans from neighbouring countries. Chocolate lovers will adore the dessert for its delicate sweetness.

Wine lovers can also opt for wine pairing with the Farm Feast for an extra $40 per guest. Guest will get 3 glasses of natural wine to pair with the sumptuous meal.

Goodwood Park Hotel Christmas 2021

GoodwoodParkXmas28

Goodwood Park Hotel has lined up a brand new repertoire of festive treats for this Christmas. The new 2021 Christmas collection includes both sweets and savouries, which are available for takeaway and delivery from 15 November to 26 December 2021 and festive dining specials from 1 December 2021 to 2 January 2022.

GoodwoodParkXmas33

GoodwoodParkXmas30

A combination of western tradition and Asian flavours, this year's Coffee Turkey with Flavoursome Fried Rice ($248 nett; serves 8 to 12 persons) will likely be the star of the festive table. The new Coffee Turkey is slowly braised for slightly more than an hour till tender with aromatics. The festive bird is then infused with a myriad of Chinese spices like star anise, cinnamon, black cardamom and licorice root and finished with a fragrant coffee glaze. Basted thrice with the savoury coffee glaze and roasted, the turkey has a glistening caramelised skin and tender meat. When I had it, it was almost like having a soy-braised chicken. Served with a side coffee sauce, such tender and flavourful meat is ideal. The accompanying fried rice comprises stir-fry of white jasmine rice, flower shiitake mushrooms, chopped string beans, and shredded dried scallops, dried shrimps and eggs.

GoodwoodParkXmas37

Another interesting savoury item in this year's collection is the Turkey, Mushroom & Foie Gras Roulade with Roasted Potatoes, Broccolini & Mushroom Sauce ($268 nett, approx. 30 cm; serves 8 to 10 persons). The turkey breast is rolled with a button and Swiss brown mushrooms duxelles, minced turkey and seared foie gras. The roulade is slow-cooked for three hours, seasoned with thyme and garlic, then grilled. The turkey breast was delightfully tender, flavoured by lightly seasoned mushroom duxelles. The cubes of foie gras rolled inside the duxelles provided just the right amount of fats and buttery flavour to roulade. It is served with a savoury mushroom sauce on the side and complemented with roasted baby potatoes, broccolini, and sautéed onions.

GoodwoodParkXmas26

For starters, you may opt for the Chilled Smoked Turkey Breast, Beancurd & Ikura with Mala Sauce ($98 nett; serves 4 to 6 persons). An Asian-influenced dish, smoked turkey breast slices are lined atop smooth, chilled silken beancurd before finishing with a piquant mala sauce.

GoodwoodParkXmas27

Other fun bites include this Sichuan version of the dim sum favourite, 'Fu Pi Juan' (beancurd skin roll). The moreish Deep-Fried Turkey Roll in Mala Style features a toothsome filling of minced turkey breast, diced carrots, and turnips, as well as Sichuan peppercorn oil. Encased in beancurd skin and tied with strips of Chinese celery to resemble a Christmas cracker, the rolls are steamed then deep-fried to golden-brown.

GoodwoodParkXmas15

Another item that spins a similar Asian twist is the Deep-fried 'Hong Zao' Turkey Breast Strips with Salt & Seaweed Sprinkle, Mango Mayonnaise and Wasabi Mayonnaise ($68 nett; serves 4 to 6 persons). Slices of succulent turkey breast are thoroughly marinated in 'Hong Zao' (red glutinous rice wine lees), yellow mustard powder, and black pepper powder. Each morsel is then coated with a mix of more glutinous red wine lees and flour before deep-frying to achieve a crisp exterior. It reminds me of prawn roll, but in a Christmas context.

GoodwoodParkXmas52

For Sweets, the White Enchantment Log Cake impresses with two layers of pistachio sponge with pear mousse studded with pieces of poached pear that have been enveloped in a tangy yuzu cream set atop a sablé breton base. The pear mousse was delicious with the chunks of poached pear, and the citrus notes of the yuzu cream made the cake even more delectable.

GoodwoodParkXmas44

Not often that you will get a festive cheesecake, and this Assorted Berries Baked Cheese Loaf ($98 nett for 1.3kg) is a great option. A buttery digestive biscuit crust encases a New York cream cheese adorned with dried blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. The Yuletide 'loaf' is topped with an abundance of assorted glazed fresh berries, sugar flowers and sprigs of thyme.

GoodwoodParkXmas7

You can even create your own Afternoon Tea Set with the Christmas Carousel 2-Tier Set ($66 nett) and Christmas Tree 3-Tier Set ($88 nett). Specially curated by the culinary team behind L’Espresso’s popular English Afternoon Tea, the joyous tiered sets comprises an assortment of sweet and savoury treats.

GoodwoodParkXmas12

The two-tiered Christmas Carousel set contains ten different petite snacks (five sweets and five savouries) such as Chocolate Pandan Tart, Raspberry Sablé Breton, Spicy Chipotle Turkey Croissant, and Garlic Cheese with Cranberries & Pistachio Tartlet.

GoodwoodParkXmas1

GoodwoodParkXmas2

The 3-tier set is more worthwhile, with three levels of 16 different treats (8 sweets and 8 savouries) including Paris-Brest, Coffee Caramel Tart, Green Tea Brownie, Lobster with Granny Smith Apple & Avocado Salad, Chicken with Cranberries & Pecan Nuts Croissant, and Turkey & Pumpkin Shepherd’s Pie.

GoodwoodParkXmas17

Advance orders of five days are required. Guests may place their online orders at goodwoodparkfestive.oddle.me for delivery or self-collection. Alternatively, guests may visit The Deli ( 10am to 7 pm from 15 November to 26 December) or contact the Christmas Call Centre at (65) 6730 1867/68 from 10am to 6pm or email festive@goodwoodparkhotel.com to place their takeaway orders for self-collection only.
