Yak Kin Yakiniku @ Jalan Riang - Thai-Japanese Yakiniku With Premium Meat Cuts And Fresh Seafood

Yat Kin55

YatKinRestaurant-5

Yak Kin Yakiniku located at Jalan Riang is a Thai-Japanese yakiniku restaurant. The Japanese-style yakiniku offers quality meats and seafood married with Thai spices, marinated meats and Thai dipping sauces.

Yat Kin51
Meat Platter 4.2/5

Yat Kin26
Moo Ping 4.2/5

We kickstart our yakiniku with a meat platter that consists of Rosu (Wagyu A5 Yakiniku), Karubi (Short-Rib Bone-In), Thai Style Pork Neck, Thick Bacon Steak and Moo Ping. I need help pinpointing my favourites as they are all quality meat with their own merits. How fitting it is to have Moo Ping on the menu for the Thai side of things, a staple in Thai cuisine.

Yat Kin22
Pork Tomahawk 4.5/5

A highlight is the Pork Tomahawk. The beautiful piece of pork after grilling has a delightful crunch.

Yat Kin43

Yat Kin47
Scallop with Miso Butter, Surume Ika 4.2/5

Besides the meats, there is a fresh selection of seafood, such as the plump Scallop with Miso Butter, a whole Surume Ika (Japanese flying squid), and even Fresh Oyster.

Yat Kin50
Vegetable & Mushroom Platter 4/5

Complete the grilling experience with a vegetable and mushroom platter such as Enoki Mushroom with Soy Butter in Foil, King Oyster Mushroom, Butter Corn Cup and Coral Lettuce.

Yat Kin7
Kawaebi Karaage 4/5

Yat Kin12
Kaki Fry 4/5

Fitting for a few glasses of beer, highballs, or sake is an array of delightful starters such as the Kawaebi Karaage and Kaki Fry. These deep-fried snacks are ideal bar bites. The kawaebi karaage is sweet and plump, while the deep-fried oysters are bursting with briny juiciness.

Yat Kin5
Yak Kin! Tako Wasabi 4/5

Yat Kin6
Yak Kin! Potato Salad 4.2/5

The Yak Kin! Tako Wasabi is an appetising side dish in which the raw octopus is flavoured with Japanese horseradish. If you can get over the octopus's slimy texture, this is very addictive. As for the Yak Kin! Potato Salad, the smooth and creamy texture is further accentuated in flavour with bonito flakes topping.

Yat Kin15
Ice Plant with Goma Dressing 4.2/5

Yat Kin20
Yam Mamuang 4/5

The Ice Plant with Goma Dressing and Yam Mamuang showcases the best of both worlds. From Japan, we have the crunchy ice plant dressed in a delicious goma sauce, while we have the piquant yam mamuang that comes with a spicy kick.

En Yakiniku @ Middle Road (Bugis) - New Japanese Yakiniku & Sake Bar Offering An Authentic Japanese BBQ Experience

EnYakiniku2

Many yakiniku restaurants have opened around Singapore in recent months offering Japanese BBQ experience, ranging from affordable selections at coffeeshops to premium and rare meat cuts at full-service restaurants. En Yakiniku is one of the latest yakiniku concepts to be opened in Bugis. It takes over the now-defunct Captain K Seafood Tower.

EnYakinikuInterior-1

While waiting for the rest of the group to arrive, we started with some snacks to munch on. We had the Grilled Dried Thread-Sail Filefish ($15.40), Grilled Dried Pufferfish ($15.40) and Deep-fried Sweet Shrimp ($5.40).

EnYakiniku18
Grilled Dried Thread-Sail Filefish and Grilled Dried Pufferfish 4/5

EnYakiniku69
Deep-fried Sweet Shrimp 4/5

The delightful snacks can double up as bar bites to complement the drinks.

EnYakiniku35
Yakitori 3.5/5

EnYakiniku68
Chawanmushi 4.2/5

If you don't have the patience to wait for the meat to be cooked or just want a quick meal, there are several cooked items on the menu, such as Yakitori ($12), Donburi and Chawanmushi ($3.40)

EnYakiniku6

EnYakiniku53
Prime Short Rib, Beef Chuck, Oyster Blade 4.2/5

Beef lovers can look forward to a good variety of cuts at En Yakinkiu. We started with three types of cuts, starting with the US Prime Short Rib ($28.90), US Beef Chuck ($17.90) and Oyster Blade ($17.90).

EnYakiniku21

EnYakiniku29
A4 Wagyu Ribeye, A4 Wagyu Striploin 4.5/5

There are premium cuts, such as the Miyazaki A4 Wagyu Ribeye ($54.90) and Miyazaki A4 Wagyu Striploin ($54.90), for their beautiful marbling, giving it the melt-in-the-mouth texture.

EnYakiniku39
Gyu Tan 4.2/5

The more adventurous can go for the Gyu Tan ($21.90), which has a delightful crunchy texture once grilled.

EnYakiniku8
Chestnut-fed Duroc Pork Belly 4/5

EnYakiniku13
Spanish Pork Jowl 4/5

You need not worry if you are a non-beef eater. The Chestnut-fed Duroc Pork Belly ($15.90) and Spanish Pork Jowl ($15.90) are excellent options that are as satisfying as the beef cuts. In addition, the pork oil from the grilling emits a fragrant aroma enhancing the enjoyment.

EnYakiniku44

EnYakiniku59
Tiger Prawn 4.2/5

We even had Tiger Prawn ($22) from the seafood selection to complete the yakiniku experience at En Yakiniku.

Overall, I enjoyed the food at the En Yakiniku. The pricing and the quality of meats and seafood served it is reasonable. Some may argue that you can find cheaper options. I agree but compare the quality or how thinly these places sliced their meats.

59 Hutong Yakiniku @ Boat Quay - Taipei's Top Yakiniku Chain For Exclusive Cuts Of Meats And Seafood, Together With Friendly Taiwanese Service

59HuTong35

Newly opened in Boat Quay is 59 Hutong Yakinku, a new yakiniku restaurant serving premium and exclusive cuts of meats and seafood from Japan, US and Australia, and friendly Taiwanese service. The restaurant is a collaboration between Taipei's top yakiniku chain, Hutong and Singapore's 59 Restaurant Pte Ltd.

59HuTong11
AUS Wagyu Thin Cut Tongue

We started with the AUS Wagyu Thin Cut Tongue ($32), which has a delectable crunch after grilling.

59HuTong6

59HuTong37

59HuTong15

There is a good variety of beef cuts, such as the US Prime Boneless Short Rib ($32), AUS Black Cow Chuck Flat ($30), US Prime Dallas Cube ($38) and many more.

59HuTong26

59HuTong44
Japanese A5 Wagyu Ribeye Roll.

Of course, the highlight has to be the Japanese A5 Wagyu Ribeye Roll (215g - 225g) with its beautiful marbling that melted in the mouth. Other A5 wagyu cuts from Japan and AUS are available too.

59HuTong21

59HuTong38
Spanish Pork Belly

59HuTong30
Iberico Pork Shoulder Blade

For the non-beef eaters, you can go for Spanish Pork Belly ($18) or Iberico Pork Shoulder Blade ($26). Alternatively, another option is the tender Boneless Chicken Thigh ($14) paired with garlic butter.

59HuTong33
Boneless Chicken Thigh

59HuTong18
Raw Crab Roe in Crab Shell

There are also seafood selections such as Neritic Squid ($18), Cuttlefish ($18), Scallops ($10) and many more on the menu. We tried the Raw Crab Roe in Crab Shell ($18), which can take a while to cook. The flavour is a bit too rich and intense for me.

59HuTong9
Cuttlefish Sausage

A must-have under the seafood section is the Cuttlefish Sausage ($14). During the grilling, it emits a beautiful aroma that makes you drool while waiting for it to be cooked. In addition, the stuffed cuttlefish gives it a lovely crunchy finish.

59HuTong16
Zucchini and King Oyster Mushroom

While the focus is on the meats and seafood, the vegetables are good too. We had the Zucchini ($9) and King Oyster Mushroom ($9), which is an excellent refreshing break.

59HuTong24
Wagyu Beef Japanese Rice

A good selection is the Wagyu Beef Japanese Rice ($12) to fill up the stomach. While I enjoyed the soft and fluffy rice, I hoped the wagyu beef could be fatter.

Mr Yakiniku (烧肉先生) @ Ubi Ave 4 - Affordable Japanese Grilled Meat Sets From $8.80

MrYakiniku18

MrYakinikuExterior-3

Mr Yakiniku (烧肉先生) is a relatively new Yakiniku hawker stall hidden in a kopitiam within Ubi industrial estate, just beside Comfort Delgo Driving Centre. Besides affordable Japanese grilled meat set starting from $8.80, the place has instagrammable corners such as torii replica, Japanese lanterns and fairy lights.

MrYakiniku13

MrYakiniku3
Beef Set and Pork Set 4/5

Have problems deciding what to order, or do you want a bit of everything? Don't work. You can go for the Beef Set and Pork Set. The Beef Set comprises Karubi, Short Plate, Harami (100g for $11.80/ 200g for $17.80), and the Pork Set consists of Pork Jowl, Pork Belly, Pork Collar (150g for $14.80, 250g for $21.80).

MrYakiniku5
Kinoko Moriawase 3/5, Yasai Moriawase 3/5

We also had assorted mushrooms and vegetables to go along with the meats. The Kinoko Moriawase (100g for $7) and Yasai Moriawase ($4.50) save me a lot of trouble deciding what to order.

MrYakiniku8
Wagyu Steak 4/5

Though it is a hawker stall, you can savour premium cuts such as the Wagyu Steak MS4/5 (120g for $19). Diners will be delighted by the tender texture from its beautiful marbling.

MrYakiniku6
Karubi Prime 4/5

Another cut we enjoy a lot is the Karubi Prime (50g for $8, 100g for $14). Though the boneless short rib is not as fatty as the wagyu, it still comes across as very flavourful and tender.

MrYakiniku15
Chicken Thigh 3.5/5

MrYakiniku9
Mentaiko Ebi 4/5

MrYakiniku7
Hotate 3.5/5

Besides the various Japanese beef cuts, there are many other ala carte items that diners can add to the yakiniku experience. We had other selections such as Chicken Thigh (50g for $3/ 100g for $5), Mentaiko Ebi ($5 for 2pc/ $9 for 4pc) and Hotate ($11 for 3pc).

MrYakiniku19

Not forgetting the four homemade Yakiniku Sauces to complement the grilled meats and seafood. They are the Signature Mr Yakiniku Sauce which comes with pineapple puree for tartness, Togarashi Salt, Ponzu and Citrus Salt.

MrYakiniku16

Overall, I find Mr Yakiniku is worth checking out. I like the whole ambience with the entire fairy lights and Japanese lanterns set up while having bbq under the stars. The pricing is also very reasonable with value-for-money meat sets.
