Salmon Yu Sheng 4.5/5

In all Lunar New Year reunion dinners, a must-have to start off the evening is the Salmon Yu Sheng to toss for abundance, prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead. Consisting of a vibrant medley of shredded vegetables and assorted toppings, the plating of the yusheng resemble that of a cute dog, specially created for the year of that particular Chinese zodiac. It is also served with generous servings of fresh salmon slices, sweet plum sauce and other condiments before the Lo Hei commences.

Double-Boiled Fish Maw with Dried Scallop and Cordycep Flower 4.2/5

The Double-Boiled Fish Maw with Dried Scallop and Cordycep Flower comes in a clear double boiled soup packed with a robust flavour of herbs essence, and a subtle hint of sweetness from the scallop.

SwissotelMerchantCourt1
Imperial Herbal Chicken 4.5/5

With a strong herbal aroma infused in the meat soaked in a rich herbal broth, the Imperial Herbal Chicken is a welcoming dish full of herbal goodness. While the meat boasts a tender texture that I really enjoyed, the infusion of the herbal essence makes it an even more comforting experience.

SwissotelMerchantCourt2
Hong Kong Style Fried Garoupa 4/5

The Hong Kong Style Fried Garoupa comes in a sizable whole portion, deep fried and doused in an appetising sweet-savoury sauce. Underneath is soft, tender meat with a melt-in-the-mouth consistency.

Wok-fried Asparagus with Pearl Scallop in XO Sauce 4.2/5

While I enjoyed the crunchy asparagus and capsicum cooked in XO sauce, the highlight of the Wok-fried Asparagus with Pearl Scallop in XO sauce is the fresh and juicy scallops executed excellently with a tinge of spice and sauce fragrance.

SwissotelMerchantCourt4
Braised Abalone and Sea Cucumber with Australian Broccoli 4.2/5

Thick slices of sea cucumber, juicy braised abalone and crunchy broccoli render the Braised Abalone and Sea Cucumber with Australian Broccoli an enjoyable dish, especially with the full-bodied savoury gravy that complement excellently with the rest of the ingredients.

SwissotelMerchantCourt5
Fried Glutinous Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf 4/5

For something more substantial, the Fried Glutinous Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf comes in a large portion of fragrant glutinous rice, with a mix of lup cheong or Chinese sausage with mushrooms.

SwissotelMerchantCourt6 Double-boiled “Hasma” with Red Dates 4.2/5

Bring the meal to a sweet finale with the Double-boiled “Hasma” with Red Dates, a nourishing bowl of double-boiled soup filled with nutrition value. The red dates lend a subtle sweetness to the double boiled soup, delivering a sweet touch to the dish.

Hustle Co @ Craig Road – Of Indulgent Brunch Fare, Handcrafted Coffee And 12 Craft Beers On Tap

HustleCo1

Situated along Craig Road is Hustle Co, one of the newest hipster addition to the Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood. With a curated food menu of hearty mains available all-day from brunch to dinner, it offers a wide selection of craft beers on tap ranging from ale, lager, porter to cider to pair with your brunch offerings, while coffee options are also available for your caffeine fix in the morning.

HustleCo2
Tuna Tartare 4.2/5

For the starter, we had the Tuna Tartare ($16) which comes in a portion of fresh tuna chunks well-mixed with avocado and cucumber. An interesting element to the dish - crispy wanton skin is used to pair with the tuna tartare, which contributes a crunchy texture to the creamy avocado mash and fresh tuna chunks.

HustleCo4
Salmon Rosti 4.2/5

The Salmon Rosti ($22) features a 160g salmon fillet pan-seared to a perfect skin-crisp while the meat was butter-soft tender and well-seasoned. Coupled with a golden brown crisp rosti, dill creme fraiche and generous amounts of salmon roe. The sour cream is a great, non-overpowering. It complement the savoury salmon and rosti while those mouth-popping granules lend a sweet, mildly savoury note and a refreshing twist to the dish.

HustleCo3
Hustler Burger 3.8/5

The Hustler Burger ($18) features a 160g dry age beef patty, mini hash, bacon and a fried egg atop, all held together by two toasted soft brioche buns. While the nicely-seasoned beef patty is slightly tougher in texture, the crispy hash added a crunch element, and together with the bacon and cheese which constitute flavorous additions that give the dish an uplift.

HustleCo6
French Toast 4/5

End the meal on a sweet note with the French Toast ($18) which features two pieces of soft pillowy brioche toast with a slight crisp in its pan-fried exterior, and paired with glazed apple, mixed nuts and vanilla ice cream. The pieces of glazed apple provided a subtle juicy sweetness to the french toast while the nuts has a nice crunch to it. The vanilla ice cream is sourced from Apiary, which is known for their house-made creamy and rich ice cream. Overall, a pretty decent dessert constituting a medley of accompaniments with lusciously sweet notes atop well-executed fluffy french toasts.

With just less than half a year into operations, Hustle Co has undergone a series of menu tweakings to introduce a variety of unqiue offerings to indulge in for brunch. Instead of being the conventional brunch-and-coffee cafe, it places a stronger emphasis on their local craft beers on tap as well, which provides for a great avenue to unwind with your friends after a long day of hustle.
