Suki Thai Steamboat and Thai Cuisine @ Golden Mile Complex

IMG_8197ed

Suki Thai Steamboat and Thai Cuisine is the latest addition in Golden Mile Complex. The month old restaurant serves not only Thai Steamboat but also Mookata as well as some authentic Thai dishes. Suki Thai offers both set menu as well as a la carte dishs for its Thai steamboat and mookata.

Thai Steamboat 4.2/5

The Thai Steamboat comes in two soup base, Chicken and Tom Yum. Among the group, we seems to prefer the tom yum more than the chicken soup base. The sour-spicy broth seems to be even more tastier after cooking the ingredient in it, infusing all the essence.

Mookata 4/5

Suki Thai started off with only steamboat has since introduced Mookata on their menu after feedback from patrons. The beauty of dining at Suki Thai, especially in a big group, you get to enjoy both the Thai Steamboat as well as the Mookata.

All in One Combo Set Menu

As Suki Thai is still new, they are also still adjusting their food offering as well as the pricing, gathering feedback from patrons. On the combo set menu they have the Vegetable Combo ($14.90), Meat Combo ($24.50) and Seafood Combo ($29.50). To be competitive, Suki Thai has since introduced the All in One Combo Set Menu ($40) which comes with everything; seafood, meat and vegetable. It is really value for money.

Kurobota Pork

Suki Thai also offers some selection of premium items on the menu such as the Wagyu Beef ($22), Kurobota Pork ($22), Baby Abalone ($26) and Canadian Big Scallop ($16). I like the fact that the meat at Suki Thai is not thinly sliced, which comes with a nice bite.

Jade Noodle 4.2/5

The ala care items at Suki Thai comes in different coloured code which determines the pricing starting from $2.50 per plate. One item not to be missed in the Jade Noodle which is the same noodle served in MK Steamboat in Thailand. This is like your wanton mee noodle served cooked. It is super springy and so good that I can eat on its own.

Crispy Fish Skin 3/5

Thai Fishcake and Cheese Hotdog 3.5/5

The thing about having steamboat or mookata is to wait for the soup to boil and then cooking the ingredients. Sometimes the wait is just too long for the hungry stomach. Worry not as Suki Thai also offers some delectable light snacks and food to fill up the stomach first such as the Crispy Fish Skin, Thai Fishcake and Cheese Hotdog.

Mango Salad 4/5

We also asked the kitchen to prepare for us a plate of Mango Salad the "real" Thai way without tuning down for the local palate. Instantly I can taste Thailand burning in my mouth, it was so fiery that I felt I was knocked out by a muay thai boxer.

Besides the trio offering of Thai Steamboat, Mookata and Thai cuisine at Suki Thai, I like the spacious spacing at Suki Thai compare to the the other restaurants in golden mile complex. Having steamboat and mookata can be quite a sweaty event. The air conditioned and spacious spacing means no more squeezing and sharing tables with strangers.

Mad About Sucre @ Teo Hong Road (Outram)

IMG_8211ed

A new patisserie, Mad About Sucre has just recently opened its door at Teo Hong Road (Outram) near Dorsett Singapore Hotel. It called itself a private confection label that marries French techniques with British designs with the philosophy of "Bake with love, Bake for love". Hence the bakes at Mad About Sucre does not use any premixes and any artificial flavourings. They even reduced between 20% to 60% of sugar required in most original cake recipes.

Moulin Rogue 4.2/5

Our dessert omakase started with the Moulin Rogue ($10.80), a cake inspired from the cigar smoking scene of cabaret. Coated in a charred caramel around the light sponge cake with walnut parfait and almond brittle, giving it a nice hint of burnt smokiness.

IMG_8215ed
Coco Citron 4.8/5

Among the five cakes we tried, the Coco Citron ($9.80) is my favourite. This is surprisingly very well balanced. I thought the lemon curd will lean towards sourish but it worked harmoniously together with light coconut mousse with crystal drops on top.

IMG_8219ed
Passionne 4.2/5

If you are into cheesecake, then you probably would like the Passionne ($10.80) made of four different types of cheeses. The cheesecake was light and comes with a nice fruity flavour from passion fruit. A very clever play of flavours but yet nicely balanced.

IMG_8222ed
Carpentras 3.5/5

The Carpentras ($11.80) is layered with bourbon Madagascan vanilla, strawberry vodka cream, strawberry coulis, raspberry glaze and almond chips coated in chocolate. This is definitely not for the young. It is a cocktail disgusted dessert, so do watch your drink.

IMG_8224ed
San Domingue 4.5/5

This is da bomb...doesn't the San Domingue ($12.80) look like one too? It will bomb you with waves after waves of its rich chocolate goodness. Dig into the middle for the banana filling to cut through the chocolate richness if you prefer a more balance combination. Detonated the chocolate truffle box sitting on top of the San Domingue to get a burst of the dark rum in it.

Mad About Sucre reminds me of Antoinette. Antoinette has since moved on and expand their menu to include cooked food. The exquisite creation at Mad About Sucre definitely brings a fresh air to the patisserie scene but can they survive by just selling cakes? Saying that, I really like the the creations and enjoyed both the cakes and ambience at Mad About Sucre. I understand more creations is already in the pipeline. I can't wait to go back and try them all.
