Dine At Home During Circuit Breaker - Poon Nah City Home Made Noodle

PoonNahCity1

One of the hawker stall that I supported during the circuit breaker is Poon Nah City Home Made Noodle at City Plaza. With their island-wide delivery, I was able to order the handmade noodles and have them delivered to my home. I am glad to announce that they are continuing their islandwide delivery after the circuit breaker until further notice.

PoonNahCity4
Abalone Mee Hoon Kueh

If you have been following my blog, you probably known that I have visited the stall many years ago. Back then, I have enjoyed the textures of the handmade noodles but I wasn't quite impressed with the soup base. I thought it lacked depth and robustness. However, this time round when I had the Abalone Mee Hoon Kueh, the soup was so flavourful that finished it to the last drop.  For $12.50, the Abalone Mee Hoon Kueh comes with abalone, fish maw, ikan bilis and mani cai. With the amount of ingredients, I find it value for money too.

PoonNahCity2
Prawn Yu Mian Dry

Besides the soup version, they have the dry version in which the noodle is tossed in a dark sauce. I had the Prawn Yu Mian Dry which comes with prawn, minced pork, ikan bilis and mani cai.

PoonNahCity5
Dumpling Soup

Besides the variety of noodle dishes on the menu, the stall also sells other stuff such as Dumpling Soup and fried snacks. For the fried snacks, I decided to go for the Mixed Snacks, which includes Wu Xiang, Crispy Beancurd, Fish Cake, Sotong Ball. I am not one that is satisfied with just a bowl of noodles. Hence, i am delight to have these snacks to complete my meals.

Both takeaway and island-wide delivery is available at Poon Nah City Home Made Noodle. WhatsApp them at 91543515 or 83382241 to order.

Dine At Home During Circuit Breaker - Shi De Fu Wanton Mee

Shidefu1

With the COVID-19 pandemic and the circuit breaker measure, that means I have to stay at home, and I can't go around the island checking out the delicious food offered by various food establishments. We used to say we will travel for good food, but now things have changed, we can actually order them and have them at the comfort of our home with island-wide delivery. One such stall that I got to check out during this period is Shi De Fu Wanton Mee, a hawker stall located at Geylang Bahru Food Centre.

Shidefu4
Wanton Mee

One of the signature items at Shi De Fu is their Wanton Mee. The noodles tossed in a chilli concoction has a delightful bite paired with flavourful wanton wrapped in thin wanton skin. It also comes with slices of char siew though the stall does not roast it themselves anymore. The generous serving makes up for the less fatty cut.

Shidefu8
Dumpling Soup

We also have the Dumpling Soup. I enjoyed that the dumplings are stuffed with a flavourful mixture of prawn and minced pork, there is even surprise bits of crunchy chestnuts in it.

Shidefu6
Fried Dumpling and Wanton

If you like it crispy, you can opt for the Fried Dumpling which has been deep-fried to a golden brown. They also have Fried Wanton too.

Shidefu9
Curry Chicken Noodle

Another highlight at Shi De Fu is their Curry Chicken Noodle. The curry was fragrant, thick and creamy. It comes with tau pok, a whole chicken wing and a huge piece of potato. I surprised myself in drinking up the entire bowl of curry.

Shidefu7
Braised Chicken Feet

Besides the wanton mee and curry chicken noodle, they also offer dumpling noodle and chicken feet noodle on the menu.

Island-wide delivery is available at Shi De Fu. You can order at https://form.jotform.com/shidefu/shi-de-fu.

Dining At Home During Circuit Breaker - Keng Eng Kee (KEK) Seafood

KEK1

Keng Eng Kee Seafood at Alexandra has always been one of my go to places for zichar dishes with my family, friends and even overseas friends visiting Singapore. While I can't dine-in at the restaurant during the COVID-19 circuit breaker period, I am glad that it now offers island-wide delivery, bringing its delicious food to every corner of Singapore.

KEK2
Moonlight Horfun

If you have been to KEK Seafood, you will probably notice a popular dish on every diner's table. It is none other than their Moonlight Horfun. The dish got its name from the runny egg yolk that shines brightly on top of wok-fried rice noodles that is packed with intense flavours. You need not worry as the dish travel well with distance during delivery.

KEK3
Salted Egg Prawn

We had the Couple Set Menu B, which consists of the Moonlight Horfun, Salted Egg Prawn, Spinach with Ikan Bilis and Coffee Pork Ribs. The salted egg prawn has huge and crunchy, coated in finger-licking good salted egg sauce. What I like about the sauce, is they use real salted egg yolk to make it instead of powder.

KEK5
Spinach with Ikan Bilis

I didn't bring justice to the Spinach with Ikan Bilis. The ikan bilis is packed separately, and I forgot to garnish it to the dish when I took the photo. It is very thoughtful of the restaurant, so that the ikan bilis remains crispy, providing the contrasting texture for the vegetable.

KEK4
Coffee Pork Ribs

Another popular dish at KEK Seafood is their Coffee Pork Ribs. If you have dined at the restaurant before, you will smell the coffee aroma from a distance. Besides the aroma, the pork ribs are tender and juicy too.

Takeaway and island-wide delivery are available at https://kengengkee.oddle.me/en_SG. Besides a la carte menu, it even have couple and family set menus for easy order. You can also order their sister brand burgers from Wok-In Burger on the same site.

Dining at Home During Circuit Breaker - The Salted Plum

TheSaltedPlum1

With the COVID-19 pandemic, we have to shelve our travel plan until all the travel ban and restriction is lifted. If you have been to Taiwan and miss its cuisine, let The Salted Plum brings a piece of their Taiwanese Zichar rendition to your home during the circuit breaker period.

TheSaltedplum3
Lu Rou and 12-hr Eggs

The Family Value Set which comes with options for 3-4 pax and 5-6 pax. Customers can also choose to upgrade their rice to sweet potato congee. I had the regular family set which comes with Lu Rou, 12-hr Eggs, Cold Tofu, Oyster Mushrooms, Smashed Potatoes, Smashed Cucumber, Pork Chop, Burnt Chilli Chicken, Mei Cai and Red Tea Jelly Dessert.

TheSaltedPlum2
Cold Tofu

Among the spread of dishes, I really enjoyed the fork-tender Braised Pork Belly and the soft, silky Cold Tofu.

TheSaltedPlum4
Oyster Mushrooms, Smashed Potatoes, Pork Chop

The Oyster Mushrooms, Smashed Potatoes and Pork Chop are deep-fried to a delightful bite, but I just felt that there was too much fried stuff.

TheSaltedPlum5
Burnt Chilli Chicken

Tender and juicy is the Burnt Chilli Chicken. I like the hint of smokiness on top of that spicy kick.

TheSaltedPlum6
Mei Cai

I like my Mei Cai, but the seasoning was a bit heavy for my delivery. I am sure they can do better in standard and consistency.

TheSaltedPlum7
Red Tea Jelly Dessert

Last but not least, wrapped up the meal with Red Tea Jelly Dessert. It even comes with chewy tapioca balls giving the dessert a pleasing textural contrast to the crunchy, gelatin jelly.

The Salted Plum offers both takeaway and island-wide delivery. To order visit https://www.saltedplum.co.

Dining at Home During Circuit Breaker - Fook Kin

FookKin1

Fook Kin is one of my favourite restaurants to dine in. Inevitable, they are my first few food deliveries I ordered during the circuit breaker period. Not to mention, they are one of the few restaurants to quickly adapt to the new measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, adjusting their business model to cater to the unique situation.

FookKin2
Fook Kin Mix Platter

Fook Kin is known for the signature Caramelised 'Char Siew, which is from the same people behind Roast Paradise. It has a sweet, smokey charred exterior that behaved almost like the caramelised sugar crust of a creme brulee. A very subtle crack as I took a bite and the meat encased within was delicious with its fats nicely broken down. The greedy me decided to have the Fook Kin Mix Platter that comes with delectable Sio Bak too.

FookKin5
Roast Duck

If you like your roasts. Fook Kin has also introduced Roast Duck on their menu. Compare to the last time I had them, they have improved their recipe.

FookKin4
Trip Happines Tofu

Besides the roasts, the restaurants also offer several sides dishes and cooked dishes too. One of them is the Trip Happiness Tofu. The cold tofu is topped with floss, roe and century egg. In my previous review, I mentioned that the amount of century egg was disappointing. Looks like they have improved on that.

FookKin3
Stir-fried French Beans with Dried Shrimp

Packed with aromatic from the dried shrimp and garlic is the Stir-fried French Beans that is very well executed. Full of flavours and has a delightfully crunchy bite.

Fook Kin is available for both self-collection and island-wide delivery. Visit https://order.charsiew.com/ to order. $5 delivery fee for order above $50, $10 delivery fee for order below$50.

Dining at Home During Circuit Breaker - Pang's Hakka Delicacies

Hakka1
c
How about trying something different during the circuit breaker? Hakka cuisine is not something commonly available. In fact, there are not many restaurants or stalls selling them in Singapore. I would recommend Pang's Hakka Delicacies if you are keen to try some authentic and nostalgic flavours of Hakka cuisine. Pang's Hakka Delicacies is a pet project of Chef Pang from Antoinette to share the unique heritage cuisine and preserve the tradition. It is only available for takeaway and delivery.

Hakka3
Hakka Mugwort Kueh

I have never tried Hakka Mugwort Kueh until the recent order. The mugwort has a soft mochi-like skin texture filled with white radish, salted turnip, sweet turnip, carrots, minced pork, garlic, dried shrimps, mushrooms and shallots. The greenish skin comes from the mugwort, a herb widely used in Chinese medicine which is also known as wormwood.

Hakka4
Hakka Mee Tai Mak, Abacus Seeds

Other delectable selections include the Hakka Mee Tai Mak and Traditional Abacus Seeds. The Hakka Mee Tai Mak is stir-fried in pork lard with minced pork, Chinese mushroom, salted radish, chives, carrots, deep-fried beancurd and sprinkled with fried lard and dried sole fish powder.

Customers will be more familiar with the Traditional Abacus Seeds. It is not too soft, still retaining a delightful bite. To bring out the flavours, it is cooked with premium dried shrimps, dried cuttlefish, leek, garlic, black fungus, dried mushrooms, Chinese celery and fresh minced pork.

Hakka2
Hakka Pang's Lei Cha

For Lei Cha fans, you will enjoy Chef Pang's version. Served separately with their Lei Cha paste which consists of a mixture of mugwort, Thai basil, coriander, peanuts, mint leaves and sesame seeds.
To eat, mix the paste with hot water and pour into the rice. Do note that Hakka Pang's Lei Cha only comes with brown rice. There is a minimum order for Lei Cha too. Kindly check their Facebook for more information.

Dining at Home During Circuit Breaker - 藝 Yi by Jereme Leung

Yi1

During the COVID-19 pandemic circuit breaker period, restaurants are not allowed to accept dine-in customers. Hence they have to offer takeaway and/or delivery service to survive. One of the restaurants that have been on my dining list is 藝 Yi by Jereme Leung, newly opened at Raffles Hotel Singapore. I got to know MasterChef Jereme Leung when he was a judge in China Master Chef show. I was really excited when he decided to return home and open a restaurant in Singapore.

Yi4
House Specialty Steamed Mushroom Buns, Sesame Shrimp Toast

Even though I can't visit the restaurant during the circuit breaker, it doesn't mean I can eat his food. With the current situation, Raffles Hotel has launched the Raffles Grab & Go experience, whereby we can order takeaway and/or delivery for restaurants in their property. Hence I am glad that I can order the food at 藝 Yi and dine in the comfort of my home.

Yi6
Siew Mai

From the dim sum menu, I had the House Specialty Steamed Mushroom Buns, Sesame Shrimp Toast and Siew Mai. My favourite is the plump and succulent siew mai stuffed with pork and seafood filling, topped with sakura shrimp.

Yi2
Crispy Egg Noodles

The dish that I adored most is the Crispy Egg Noodles. The delivery comes with the sauce and noodle separately. This allows the noodle to remain crispy, with a delightful textural enjoyment. On top of that, the succulent prawns and fluffy scrambled egg completed the lovely dish.

Yi3
Stir-fried Pork Belly

Last but not least, wrapping up my meal with the Stir-fried Pork Belly that is comprised of pork slices, air-dried bamboo shoot and eggplant.

To order, visit https://www.rafflesgrabandgo.com.
