Ami Ami @ Great World City - Relish In The Art Of Sushi With Unique Sushi Roll Creations By Award-Winning Chef

Mixed Sashimi Carpaccio2

With award-winning Master Chef Naoki Tsuzuki at helm, Ami Ami takes on an unconventional approach towards sushi-making and rolls out a new selection of avant-garde sushi rolls that reflect an infusion of bold new flavours with the traditional sushi. Diners can look forward to unique creations such as the cheese pie sushi and fruit sushi, as well as exquisite presentations of the dishes paired with sauces such as the refreshing green leek sauce and flavourful anchovy olive paste.

Ebi Tempura Cheese Pie Roll
Ebi Tempura Cheese Pie Roll 4.2/5

The only one-of-its-kind in Singapore, the Ebi Tempura Cheese Pie Roll ($15.80) features 8 delicate pieces of sushi rice, prawn tempura and cheddar cheese all wrapped up in a pie crust. Baked to crisp perfection, the pie roll has a slight crisp, flaky exterior while retaining a slight amount of oozing cheesy goodness when bitten into. The overall flavour is balanced with a dab of sweet teriyaki cream sauce.

Fruit & Ebi Tempura Vegetable Sheet Roll 2

The Fruit & Ebi Tempura Vegetable Sheet Roll ($9.80) amps up the usual sushi roll with the wholesome goodness of prawn tempura and mixed fruits with mango mayonnaise and wasabi flavoured shrimp roe all wrapped with paper-thin carrot vegetable sheet. An ingenious combination of sushi with fruits and vegetables which gave it a refreshing multi-dimensional taste profile, this dish is recommended for those seeking for a healthier alternative.

The Mixed Sashimi Carpaccio ($16.80) comes with dainty pieces of fresh assorted sashimi, salmon roe and blanched sea urchin gorgeously plated in a visual feast. Mix all ingredients with the special anchovy olive paste and enjoy it tapas-style on the crispy buttery baguette toast.

Sushi Pizza 1
Sushi Pizza 4/5

A well-loved favourite among many, the Chef creatively incorporates this pizza concept into sushi making with the Sushi Pizza ($17.80), where warm sushi rice is spread on thin spring roll skin and topped with melted mozzarella and Gouda cheese together with a generous portion of mixed sashimi, flying fish roe, omelette and avocado with spicy mayonnaise. A conventional dish infused with a unique Japanese twist, the flavours work surprisingly well together. Bump up your sushi pizza to the next level with the unique Japanese spicy sauce and tomato-based sauce drizzled on the plate.

Zuwaigani Shell Sushi
Zuwaigani Shell Sushi 3.8/5

The Zuwaigani Shell Sushi ($9.80) comes with a generous portion of juicy snow crab meat, omelette and wasabi-flavoured shrimp roe on sushi rice served on a crab shell. Refreshing to the palate, the flavours in the combination are well-balanced, with the tinge of wasabi spice complementing the freshness of the seafood well.

White Rose Cafe @ York Hotel - Flavours of Asian Rice Bowls

WhiteRoseCafe21

For a limited period from 1 June to 31 July 2018, White Rose Cafe at York Hotel will be rolling out six hearty Asian Rice Bowls. These bowls are inspired by popular gourmet in our neighbouring Asia countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan and more.

WhiteRoseCafe23
Beef Donburi with Wafu Sauce 4/5

The Beef Donburi with Wafu Sauce ($16) comes with a tender and moist patty grilled and drizzled with flavourful wafu sauce. It comes with black and white sesame rice topped with onsen egg, shreded white cabbage, corn and Japanese pickles.

WhiteRoseCafe19
Minced Pork with Thai Basil 3.5/5

A classic Thai dish is the Minced Pork with Thai Basil. The steamed rice is topped with stir fried ground pork and basil leaves, sunny-side up egg and long beans. I thought the stir-fried pork needs a bit more intensity in the sauce and spiciness, to bring out the authentic characteristic of the dish.

WhiteRoseCafe17
Lemongrass Grilled Chicken 3.5/5

The chicken is marinated with lemongrass, lemon juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and fish sauce. It is then grilled to a nice tender texture, infusing with the aroma of lemongrass and smokiness. The rice bowl comes with sunny-side up egg and pickled vegetables over steamed fragrant rice.

WhiteRoseCafe13
Sambal Ikan 4/5

Suitable for the local palate is the Sambal Ikan. The rice bowl comes with a crispy deep fried red snapper fillet, spicy bean curd with tempeh, onion omelette and steamed fragrant rice. The highlight of the rice bowl has to be the crunchy achar and sambal chilli.

WhiteRoseCafe6
Braised Pork Rice 4.2/5

One of my favourite bowls is the Braised Pork Rice. The pork belly chopped into chunky pieces is well braised to tender, absorbing the flavoursome sweet and savoury sauce. Not forgetting the piquant chilli sauce that goes so well with the braised items for that extra punch.

WhiteRoseCafe8
Healthy 'Vegan-licious' Rice Bowl 4.2/5

For the healthy conscious folks, there is the Healthy 'Vegan-licious' Rice Bowl which comes with deep-fried bean curd, sauteed mushrooms and a beautiful assortment of kimchi, black fungus, corns and cucumbers. Similar to the Korean bibimbap but this is vegan. Instead of steamed rice, it is substituted with delicious olive fried rice. Last but not least, a homemade oriental sesame is drizzled over the rice for a aromatic lift.

The Flavours of Asian Rice Bowls promotion is available from 1 June to 31 July 2018. UOB credit and debit cardholders enjoy 10% off total bill off the rice bowls with a minimum spending of $50 in a single receipt.

Note: This is an invited tasting.
