Sodeng @ Amoy - Singapore’s First Korean BBQ with Grilled Duck

SodengIG-38

If you're a fan of Korean BBQ and looking for something beyond the usual beef and pork, Sodeng at Amoy Street is a must-visit. Brought to you by the same folks behind Um Yong Baek, Sodeng is not only dishing out premium cuts of meat but is also Singapore's first Korean BBQ restaurant to serve grilled duck.

While there are two Sodeng outlets in the Telok Ayer vicinity, I visited the one located along Amoy Street. This sleek and modern space offers a traditional Korean BBQ experience elevated by meticulous service and tableside grilling by the attentive staff.

Exclusive Butcher's Cut 4.5/5

SodengAmoy20

We began our meal with the Exclusive Butcher's Cut (Seasonal Price), a premium beef selection featuring cuts with gorgeous marbling. Grilled to perfection by the staff, what stood out was how the team went above and beyond by demonstrating multiple ways to enjoy the beef—pairing it with peppercorn, grilled kimchi, or wrapping it with shiso leaves. These extra touches helped bring out different flavour profiles in the meat and enhanced the entire dining experience, setting Sodeng apart from many other K-BBQ spots.

Fresh Plain Duck 4.2/5

SodengAmoy27

One of Sodeng's biggest draws is its grilled duck, a first for Korean BBQ in Singapore. The Fresh Plain Duck ($34/pax), made from young duck, is thinly sliced and boasts succulent, tender meat once grilled. The staff guided us through the grilling process and even suggested the best way to enjoy the duck with different condiments. It's a refreshing alternative to the usual meats offered at K-BBQ joints.

3072 Woo-Dae Galbi 4.8/5

SodengAmoy52

The 3072 Woo-Dae Galbi ($45/pax) is the undisputed star of the dinner. This premium prime-grade beef rib is marinated for 72 hours in a special house-made sauce that includes a whopping 30 ingredients. Served whole on the bone and cut tableside before grilling, the beef is juicy, rich, and deeply flavourful, with each bite bursting with umami. For an extra indulgent twist, you can pair the grilled galbi with melted cheese – a sinful but delicious touch.

SodengAmoy59
Frice Rice 4.5/5

SodengIG-45

SodengAmoy72

SodengIG-49

Once you're done with the galbi, the staff can use the remaining beef fat and trimmings to cook up a glorious Fried Rice ($17 for 2 pax) on the grill. Cooked with kimchi, seaweed, vegetables, and cheese, the result is a plate of deeply flavourful, hearty fried rice that perfectly rounds off the meal.

SodengAmoy63
Grilled Pork Collar 4.5/5

Not to be missed is the Charcoal Grilled Pork Collar ($27/pax), made from the finest pork neck, marinated in a special soy blend, and grilled over charcoal. The result is tender, juicy pork with a satisfying smoky flavour that lingers on the palate. It's a great alternative if you're not in the mood for beef or duck.

SodengAmoy56
Spicy Toft Tofu Stew 4.2/5

Beyond BBQ, Sodeng also offers a solid range of a la carte dishes. The Spicy Tofu Stew ($17) is comforting and robust, with silky soft tofu in a spicy broth made from house seasoning. It's well-balanced, rich, and flavourful – exactly what you'd expect from a great Soondubu Jjigae.

SodengAmoy75
Spicy Kimchi Cold Noodles 3/5

We also tried the Spicy Kimchi Cold Noodles ($17) to balance the grilled meats. The noodles were chewy and bouncy, tossed in a tangy and spicy kimchi sauce. While the flavour profile was on point, the broth wasn't cold enough, and the portion was slightly too dry with minimal broth.

Sodeng isn't your typical Korean BBQ joint. From exclusive cuts and thoughtful service to being the first in Singapore to offer grilled duck, it brings a unique and elevated K-BBQ experience that's both traditional and modern. Whether you're a Korean BBQ regular or a curious foodie looking to try something new, Sodeng's impressive selection and execution make it worth the visit. Don't skip the 3072 Woo-Dae Galbi, and be sure to save space for that fried rice at the end!

Shu Da Xia (蜀大侠) @ Tampines 1 - China's Top 10 Hotpot Restaurants Opens in Singapore

Group 1

Singapore's hotpot scene just got a fiery upgrade with the arrival of Shu Da Xia (蜀大侠), a renowned Sichuan hotpot chain ranked among China's Top 10 Hotpot Restaurants. With over 600 outlets and more than a billion visits worldwide, this powerhouse of flavour has landed at Tampines 1, bringing its signature bold and authentic tastes to our shores.

Condiments

Shu Da Xia's condiments station is well-stocked with everything you need to complement your hotpot experience, including a side dish, a rotating fruit selection, and a refreshing Ice Jelly Dessert.

Group 2

We opted for the Triple Pot ($18), choosing from a selection of six soup bases: Mala Beef Tallow, Angelica Pork Bone, and Matsutake Chicken Soup. A standout detail is their dedication to maintaining the integrity of each soup - when refilling, they don't just dilute with a base broth but ensure that every soup continues to simmer with its own distinct ingredients. Other available soup bases include Pickled Cabbage, Tomato, and Mushroom. If you prefer a smaller selection, the hotpot is also available in Single Pot at $22 and Yuan Yang (Dual Pot) at $20.

Mala Chicken Gizzards 1

Mala Chicken Gizzards

For those who love the numbing heat of Sichuan cuisine, the Marinated Pork Ribs ($8/half), Mala Beef ($8/half), and Mala Chicken Gizzards ($5.50/half) are a must-try. These meats soak up the flavours of the Mala Beef Tallow soup beautifully, but be prepared for the potent cumin notes - it can be intense if you're not a fan. Over time, the soup also becomes richly infused with cumin and chilli, which adds a powerful kick but may be overwhelming for some.

Marble Patterned Beef 1
Marble Patterned Beef Slice

We tried the Marble Patterned Beef Slice ($18/half) and Gui Fei Beef ($7.50/half) for a milder option. Thinly sliced and tender, these cuts were perfect in the non-spicy broths, offering a delicate balance to the robust flavours of the meal.

Tai Chi Double Paste 1

Tai Chi Double Paste 4
Tai Chi Double Paste

One of our favourite dishes was the Tai Chi Double Paste ($15/full), a handcrafted seafood delight made with black tiger prawn and squid, topped with fish roe for a fun and crunchy texture.

Vegetable Platter

Kung Fu Celtuce
Kung Fu Celtuce

For a fresh contrast, we enjoyed the Vegetable Platter ($9.50/half), which includes lettuce, romaine lettuce, napa cabbage, corn, and tomato. A highlight was the Kung Fu Celtuce ($3.50/half), delicately sliced for the perfect bite. Be sure not to overcook it to retain its signature crunch.

Dessert 1
Ice Jelly Dessert

We wrapped up our meal with the Ice Jelly Dessert, available at the condiments station. You can customize it with Osmanthus Brown Sugar, Hawthorn Flakes, and Raisins. While the dessert was refreshing, it would be even better served colder and with more topping options.

Snapseed(18)

Shu Da Xia delivers not just on taste but also on atmosphere. The bright yet cosy space is inviting, with ample seating, making it an excellent spot for families and groups. Whether you're a spice enthusiast or just a lover of rich, flavourful broths, this hotpot experience is one to savour. If you're looking for an authentic Sichuan hotpot adventure, Shu Da Xia is definitely worth a visit.

Fourgather Thai Casual Dining @ Suntec City Mall - An UnFourgather Thai Meal with Its Second Outlet

Yum Salmon 2

Following the success of their first outlet at Amoy Hotel, modern Thai restaurant Fourgather officially opened its doors at Suntec City in February 2025. This new 66-seater space introduces an exciting menu that masterfully blends traditional Thai flavours with contemporary Western influences. For the first time, Fourgather also launched a dedicated kid's menu, making it a welcoming dining destination for all ages.

Drinks 1
Thai Chrysanthemum, Lemongrass Drink and Thai Milk Tea

We kicked off our meal with three signature Thai beverages: Thai Chrysanthemum ($5.50), Lemongrass Drink ($4.50), and Thai Milk Tea ($4.50). Each drink was well-balanced in flavour, refreshingly aromatic and not overly sweet.

Watermelon Salad 1
Watermelon Salad V2 4.8/5

The Watermelon Salad V2 ($16.90) was a standout dish. Juicy watermelon slices were topped with a tangy Thai dressing, crisp dried fish and peanuts, creating a perfect balance of sweet, savoury, and mildly spicy flavours. The original version, served at their Amoy Street branch, featured cubed watermelon, but this updated rendition felt even more refined and beautifully presented.

Yum Salmon 1
Yum Salmon 3.8/5

The Yum Salmon ($26.90) is a popular Thai dish featuring raw salmon slices tossed in a special Thai sauce. While the flavours were fresh, the choice of salmon cut left something to be desired and we found ourselves wishing for a spicier kick.

Fourgather Pork Party Platter 2
Fourgather Pork Party Platter 4.2/5

The Fourgather Pork Party Platter ($35.90) is a must-try for pork lovers. It features a delightful mix of Thai-style Moo Ping, Crispy Pork Belly, Tender Pork Cutlet, and Grilled Pork Jowl. This platter is perfect for sharing (serving 2–3 people). Accompanied by sticky rice, fresh vegetables, and assorted condiments, every bite was flavourful and well-executed.

Prime Sirloin Steak with Sticky Rice and Papaya Salad 2

Prime Sirloin Steak with Sticky Rice and Papaya Salad 3
Prime Sirloin Steak with Sticky Rice and Papaya Salad 3.5/5

For a tableside Aburi show, order the Prime Sirloin Steak with Sticky Rice and Papaya Salad ($47.90). The top-grade sirloin is seared before being torched tableside. It comes with sticky rice, Thai papaya salad and a zesty Nam Jim Jiao sauce. We opted for the Thai style (instead of Plara) with an extra spice option, though the spice level was barely noticeable. You can also upgrade to a more marbled cut for an additional $4, which we did.

Tom Yum Mama Hotpot 1
Tom Yum Mama Hotpot 3.8/5

Perfect for sharing, the Tom Yum Mama Hotpot ($36.90) serves 3–4 people and is packed with seafood and tender pork simmered in a rich tom yum broth, topped with a soft-cooked egg. While the broth was aromatic, we found ourselves wishing for more spice and tang. Pro tip: Avoid letting the Mama noodles sit for too long, as they tend to get soggy.

Tom Yum Seafood Pasta 1

Tom Yum Seafood Pasta 2
Tom Yum Seafood Pasta 4/5

If you prefer a milder tom yum flavour, the Tom Yum Seafood Pasta ($26.90) is a fantastic option. This dish features a fragrant, creamy tom yum sauce tossed with seafood and topped with crispy lemongrass shreds. It is a well-executed fusion dish we truly enjoyed.

Kids Set B 1
Kids Set B

Fourgather's kid-friendly approach includes four different Kids Sets served in adorable car or airplane bowls. Prices start from $11.90, with customisable mains, sides, and drinks. We tried Set B, in which we opted for Thai Fried Rice with a sunny-side-up egg, cheese chicken balls, tater tots, and apple juice. There are four different Kids' Sets for your little ones while the adults indulge in spicier Thai flavours.

Restaurant

Fourgather's extensive menu caters to all palates, offering everything from classic Thai flavours to inventive fusion dishes. The modern yet cosy ambience, accentuated by neon signs and eclectic decor, makes it a great spot for a quick lunch, a casual dinner or a relaxed gathering with friends and family.

Lime Restaurant @ PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering - Elevates Dinner Buffet with Seafood Symphony

IMG_2283

Lime Restaurant at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering has recently introduced a refreshed dinner menu. Seafood Symphony, available daily, features a lavish spread, including an enhanced three-tier fresh crustacean tower alongside new cooked seafood dishes.

IMG_2211

IMG_2210

One of the key highlights is the three-tier crustacean tower. Initially a single tier, the spread has now been elevated to include Boston Lobster, Snow Crab, Chilean Scallops, Yabbies, Tiger Prawns, Black Mussels, White Clams, and Whelk.

Indonesian-Style Curry Crab 4/5

IMG_2262
Pickering Slipper Lobster Laksa 4/5

The Asian Kitchen station continues to serve mouthwatering hot seafood dishes, showcasing bold flavours such as Indonesian-style Curry Crab and their signature Pickering Slipper Lobster Laksa. The laksa was robust, while I found the Slipper Lobster slightly overcooked.

IMG_2277
Buah Keluak Black Duck 4.5/5

Known for their Peranakan spread, Executive Chef Alvin Leong has introduced a new speciality — Buah Keluak Black Duck. Swapping its usual brown exterior for an enigmatic black coat, the duck took on a subtle nutty nuance while remaining just as tantalising and succulent. It was served with a piquant chilli and calamansi sauce alongside the classic plum sauce.

IMG_2222
Flower Clams in Collagen Broth 4.8/5

IMG_2292
Steamed Mussels in White Wine Broth 4/5

One of my favourites was the Flower Clams in Collagen Broth. The broth was utterly delicious — aromatic, slightly milky, sweet, and savoury. I even grabbed some buns from the Bread Station to soak up every last drop. Another delectable creation was the Steamed Mussels in White Wine Broth, made even more flavorful with herbs and stewed cherry tomatoes.

IMG_2248
Sous Vide Roast Angus Beef 4/5

IMG_2284
Crispy Roast Pork Porchetta 4.5/5

The Western station offers hearty options like Sous Vide Roast Angus Beef and Crispy Roast Pork Porchetta. The latter stood out as one of the better versions I've had, with a perfectly crisp crackling and an even balance of fat and meat beneath the crisped skin.

IMG_2239
Truffle Cream Parmesan Wheel Pasta 4/5

You'll also find comforting options such as Truffle Cream Parmesan Wheel Pasta.

IMG_2300
Trio of Chocolate Fountains

The magnificent Trio of Chocolate Fountains takes the Dessert Station up a notch. They feature flowing streams of Dark Chocolate, Matcha, and Raspberry — perfect for coating marshmallows, strawberries, grapes, biscotti, and more.
