Mimmo Bakery @ Asia Square Tower 1 - One of the Best Egg Tarts in Singapore?

Mimmo15

Mimmo Singapore, a Hong Kong-born pop-up concept, has finally found a permanent home at Asia Square, Singapore. Helmed by Le Cordon Bleu–trained Chef Domenico Giammarella, the café-bakery reflects his culinary journey across Montreal, Toronto and beyond, where precision, technique and creativity converge. At Mimmo, pastry-making is approached with both scientific discipline and artistic finesse, resulting in a menu that is thoughtful, refined, and deeply personal.

MimmoBakery-6

Mimmo16
Egg Tart 5/5

Chef Domenico shared that he has always been on a quest for the perfect egg tart — and when he couldn’t find one that met his expectations, he decided to create his own. The result is nothing short of exceptional. Priced at $4, the Egg Tart features an impeccably crisp and flaky shell that shatters lightly upon bite, revealing a silky, smooth egg custard within. The custard strikes a delicate balance between sweetness and richness without being cloying. It is easily one of the best versions around, and a must-order at Mimmo.

MimmoBakery-7

Mimmo9
Tigres 3.8/5

The Tigres ($2) is a petite French almond tea cake inspired by the classic financier. Made with browned butter and egg whites, the base is rich yet tender, studded with finely chopped dark chocolate that melts into streaks resembling tiger stripes. At its core lies a luscious caramel filling that adds a luxurious touch. While texturally pleasing, the overall sweetness leans slightly heavy for my palate.

MimmoBakery-4

Mimmo10
Apple Croissant 4.2/5

The Apple Croissant ($5) is as visually stunning as it is satisfying. Thinly sliced apples are arranged atop the croissant to resemble delicate rosé petals, finished with a glossy glaze. Beneath its elegant exterior lies a flaky, buttery laminated pastry filled with a smooth vanilla and apple custard. The contrast between the slight crunch of the apples and the soft, airy layers creates a delightful multi-textural experience.

Mimmo17
Pistachio Bolo Bao 4.2/5

Mimmo’s Pistachio Bolo Bao ($5) offers a modern European interpretation of the beloved Hong Kong classic. Instead of the usual dense bun, this version is lighter and fluffier, paired with a refined cookie crust that is less crumbly yet still delivers a gentle crunch. Inside, a generous filling of mascarpone pistachio cream flows luxuriously, balancing sweetness with a nutty depth that keeps it from becoming overwhelming.

Mimmo2
Tiramisu 4.2/5

Chef Domenico’s take on Tiramisu ($12) stays true to tradition while incorporating a thoughtful twist. Served by the scoop from a large tray, it features layers of mascarpone cream and espresso-soaked savoiardi biscuits. The addition of finely chopped hazelnuts introduces a subtle crunch, elevating the dessert with a nutty dimension that complements the rich, velvety cream beautifully.

Mimmo20
Strozzapreti alla Gigi 4.5/5

For something savoury, the Strozzapreti alla Gigi offers a hearty and comforting option. The handmade strozzapreti pasta, with its signature twisted shape, is cooked to a firm al dente bite, providing a satisfying chew. It is coated in a rich mushroom and pancetta rosé sauce — a creamy tomato base layered with smoky, savoury notes. The robust sauce clings well to the pasta, making each bite indulgent yet balanced.

Mimmo31
Italian Club Sandwich 4/5

The Italian Club Sandwich ($18) is a generously portioned offering built with precision. Toasted slices of bread provide a crisp foundation for layers of Parma ham and mortadella, melted provolone cheese, basil pesto, and a tangy citrus aioli. Fresh tomatoes and a generous handful of alfalfa sprouts add brightness and texture, resulting in a well-rounded sandwich that is both hearty and satisfying.

MimmoBakery-5

MimmoBakery-10

Mimmo Singapore impresses with its thoughtful execution and clear identity — a space where classic techniques meet modern refinement. The pastries, particularly the Egg Tart, are standout highlights that showcase Chef Domenico’s pursuit of perfection, while the savoury offerings provide a well-balanced complement. Whether you are stopping by for a quick pastry or a more substantial meal, Mimmo delivers a polished and satisfying experience that is well worth a visit.

Numb Restaurant (川麻记) @ Marina One - New Seasonal “Wild Origins” Menu, A Refined Journey Through Southwest China

Signature Sizzling Fish Fillet with Tofu 2

Nestled within the lush greenery and cascading waterfalls of Marina One, NUMB offers a dining experience that feels like a quiet escape from the city. With its latest seasonal menu, “Wild Origins”, the restaurant invites diners to reconnect with the raw, untamed flavours of Southwest China, drawing inspiration from the mountainous regions of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan.

Yunnan Wild Mushroom Black Chicken Soup 1
Yunnan Wild Mushroom Black Chicken Soup 4.5/5

A comforting and nourishing start to the meal, the Yunnan Wild Mushroom Black Chicken Soup ($24.80, for 2–3 pax) is inspired by the forest abundance of Yunnan. Slow-simmered black chicken is paired with prized wild mushrooms such as porcini, agaricus and cordyceps flowers, resulting in a deeply aromatic broth that feels both restorative and delicately layered.

Sichuan Spiced Grilled Beef w Lettuce Wraps 1

Sichuan Spiced Grilled Beef w Lettuce Wraps 3
Sichuan Spiced Grilled Beef with Lettuce Wraps 3.8/5

The Sichuan Spiced Grilled Beef with Lettuce Wraps ($30.80) features char-grilled beef seasoned with aromatic Sichuan spices, served with fresh lettuce for wrapping. While the beef itself is tender, it felt slightly underpowered on its own. The accompanying sauce and spice mix are essential to bring out the full flavour. Larger lettuce leaves would also improve the overall eating experience, making it easier to wrap and enjoy each bite.

Marbled Wagyu Beef in Traditional Guizhou Sour Soup 2

Marbled Wagyu Beef in Traditional Guizhou Sour Soup 1
Marbled Wagyu Beef in Traditional Guizhou Sour Soup 4/5

This dish offers a contrasting profile to the earlier soup. The Marbled Wagyu Beef in Traditional Guizhou Sour Soup ($42.80) features premium wagyu slices simmered in a fermented broth. The result is a refined balance of tangy acidity, mellow spice and umami richness, complemented by mushrooms and tender beef. It’s a comforting yet complex dish that showcases the depth of regional flavours well.

Signature Sizzling Fish Fillet with Tofu 1

Signature Sizzling Fish Fillet with Tofu 4
Signature Sizzling Fish Fillet with Tofu 4.5/5

A standout of the meal, the Signature Sizzling Fish Fillet with Tofu ($49.80) is filled with tender fish slices and tofu in a fragrant, spicy broth. The fish is incredibly soft and delicate, while the tofu absorbs the broth beautifully. The dish is rich in aroma and layered heat, though adding a contrasting texture, such as vegetables or vermicelli, would elevate it even further.

Drinks

NUMB also introduces a range of seasonal beverages inspired by wild fruits and botanical notes. We tried three:

• Wampi & Hog Plum Jasmine Iced Tea
• Pink Guava & Green Grapes Jasmine Tea
• Green Plum & Starfruit with Yunnan Olive

Each drink was light, refreshing and well-balanced, offering a nice contrast to the bold, spice-forward dishes. Priced at only $5.80 each.

Restaurant

To celebrate the launch of “Wild Origins”, NUMB is offering a limited-time Membership Top-Up Promotion at its Marina One outlet, with perks such as dining discounts, bonus credits and waived corkage.

Overall, the menu delivers a thoughtful exploration of Southwest Chinese flavours, balancing boldness with refinement. It’s a great spot for gatherings, whether for casual meals or more intimate group dining, especially if you’re looking for something that goes beyond the usual Sichuan fare.

Cygnet @ QT Singapore - Bottomless Steak Frites

IMG_3911

From mornings to evenings, QT Singapore has you covered with the recent launch of three distinct dining experiences at Cygnet — Brunch, Steak Frites, and Cygnet Sundays. Thoughtfully curated for different dining occasions, the concepts take you from laid-back daytime dining to elevated evening experiences.

IMG_3913

We tried their Bottomless Steak Frites: Choose Your Indulgence, where we could pick from three different cuts. Prices start from $48 for the Classic Steak Frites, with premium upgrades to the Argentinian Ribeye at $78 and the luxurious Ōmi Wagyu at $108.

IMG_3865
Milk Loaf

Before the steaks arrived, we were served their signature in-house Milk Loaf. Its pillowy texture, paired with an intense milky flavour, completely stole our hearts.

IMG_3899
Ribeye 4.5/5

IMG_3886
Ōmi Wagyu 4.8/5

For steaks, we went with the Ribeye (200g) and Ōmi Wagyu (100g). Both were expertly cooked to medium doneness, even during the restaurant’s busiest hour and across subsequent orders. The Ribeye delivered satisfying, robust beefy notes, while the Wagyu was incredibly buttery and luscious.

IMG_3891
Oysters 5/5

If you drop by before 7:30pm, there is another treat waiting for you - Freshly shucked Oysters at just $1 each. We thoroughly enjoyed these Japanese oysters, which were delicate in taste with a mild brininess. For a truly indulgent evening, Moët & Chandon Champagne is also available at $18 per glass or $98 per bottle.

IMG_3863

Steak Frites is available Mondays to Saturdays from 5:30pm, with a two-hour dining limit per table. The $1 oysters promotion is limited to 12 oysters per guest and available until 7:30pm.

Les Canons @ IOI Building - A Taste of Parisian Bistro Charm in Singapore’s CBD

Les Canons11

Tucked within the bustling Central Business District at IOI Building, Les Canons by the ilLido Group brings the charm of a Parisian neighbourhood bistro into a relaxed, everyday dining setting. Inspired by the easy rhythms of city life, the all-day French bistro moves seamlessly from breakfast to after-work apéro and casual dinners, offering a repertoire of classic French comfort dishes at wallet-friendly prices.

Les Canons2

Les Canons7
Duck Rillettes 4.2/5

We began with a selection of small bites, starting with the Duck Rillettes ($9). The slow-cooked duck, shredded and preserved in its own fat, delivered a rich, savoury depth, best enjoyed spread over a crusty baguette. While satisfying, we found ourselves wishing for more bread to match the generous portion of rillettes.

Les Canons8
Calamari with Cocktail Sauce 4.8/5

A standout starter was the Calamari with Cocktail Sauce ($10). Lightly battered and fried to a golden crisp, the calamari remained tender within. The accompanying Marie Rose-style cocktail sauce is creamy with a gentle tang, elevating the dish, making it irresistibly moreish.

Les Canons15
Escargots 4.2/5

The Escargots ($12) is a quintessential French staple, featuring half a dozen snails bathed in a fragrant garlic butter sauce. The escargots were clean-tasting, perfumed with the richness of butter and garlic. Once again, extra baguettes would have been welcome to mop up every last bit of the luscious sauce.

Les Canons17
Foie Gras 4/5

For something more indulgent, the Foie Gras ($16) offered a decadent experience. The pan-seared duck liver was beautifully caramelised on the outside while retaining a buttery, melt-in-the-mouth interior. Served atop a savoury pancake, it leaned heavily on richness, and a touch of acidity would have helped balance the dish.

Les Canons21
Coq Au Vin 4.2/5

Moving on to mains, the Coq au Vin ($16) embodied rustic French comfort. The spring chicken, gently braised in red wine, was tender and infused with deep, savoury flavours, a hearty and satisfying option.

Les Canons28
Pomme Puree 4.5/5

On the side, the Pomme Puree ($5) impressed with its silky-smooth texture and rich buttery finish. It is a simple yet delightful accompaniment that complements the mains perfectly.

Les Canons30
Steak Au Poivre 4.2/5

The Steak Au Poivre ($22) stands out as one of the best-value steak frites options in the CBD. The no-frills plate features a well-cooked steak coated in a creamy peppercorn sauce, paired with crispy fries. It delivers on flavour and value, making it a compelling choice for a casual French meal in the city.

Les Canons39
Mont Blanc 4/5

Desserts continued the classic French theme. The Mont Blanc ($9) layers meringue with light chantilly cream and sweetened chestnut puree, resulting in a nutty, creamy dessert that is indulgent without being overly heavy. The Mousse au Chocolat ($8) keeps things traditional, offering a smooth, airy texture with a deep, dark chocolate profile that will appeal to those who prefer less sweetness. Meanwhile, the Tarte Fine Aux Pommes ($9) provides a lighter finish, with its crisp, buttery pastry topped with thinly sliced caramelised apples and served alongside chantilly cream.

Les Canons44
Mousse Au Chocolat 4.2/5

Wine takes centre stage at Les Canons, with a thoughtfully curated list of over 50 French labels spanning regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Loire Valley and Rhône Valley. With glasses starting from $8 and bottles kept under $100, the programme encourages diners to enjoy wine as part of an everyday dining experience rather than a special occasion indulgence.

Les Canons35
Tarte Fine Aux Pommes 4.2/5

Les Canons evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of earlier days when accessible French dining spots such as The French Stall, The Black Sheep Cafe and Saveur first introduced many in Singapore to approachable French cuisine. At a time when French cuisine was largely confined to fine-dining establishments, these places reshaped perceptions — much as Les Canons aims to do today.

With its approachable pricing, comforting classics, and easy-going ambience, Les Canons successfully captures the spirit of a Parisian bistro while fitting neatly into the pace of CBD life. It is a welcoming spot for both quick lunches and leisurely dinners, offering a taste of France without the formality.

IMG_3963

IMG_3932

From now until 9 Nov 2025, diners can enjoy 50% off their highest-priced dish from the new menu with a minimum spend of $50. Plus, those who order the Spicy Chongqing Chilli Chicken ($40.80) and reply “Labubu Spicy” when prompted by the staff will unlock a complimentary upgrade to the upsized portion.

IMG_3955
Golden Bliss Jasmine Tea, Fortune Blossom Jasmine Matcha

We began our meal with two new cold-crafted tea drinks, the Golden Bliss Jasmine Tea ($7.80) and the Fortune Blossom Jasmine Matcha ($7.80). Both were light, refreshing and carried pleasant floral notes.

IMG_3989

IMG_4017
Iberico Pork Belly with Garlic Sauce 4/5

Playfully presented, the Iberico Pork Belly with Garlic Sauce ($19.80) featured slices of boiled pork belly, drizzled with a tangy chilli and vinegar mix, alongside cucumber ribbons, ready to be dipped. The cucumbers provided a good balance of freshness and added crunch.

IMG_3968
Sichuan Beer-Braised Duck with Potatoes 4/5

The Sichuan Beer-Braised Duck with Potatoes ($34.80) arrived sizzling in a claypot, with tender chunks of duck stewed in a rich braise. This would be good to have with white rice.

IMG_4007

IMG_4024

IMG_4025
Golden Broth Crispy Rice Pot with Abalone and Seafood 3/5

Next was the Golden Broth Crispy Rice Pot with Abalone and Seafood ($46.80), which had a bed of brown rice mixed with prawns, abalone slices, edamame, carrots, and corn, topped with puffed rice. It was a pity that the broth leaned slightly bland and was overpowered by the brown rice’s nuttiness.

IMG_3971

IMG_3978
Classic Chengdu Seabass in Sour Pickled Soup 4.2/5

The Classic Chengdu Seabass in Sour Pickled Soup ($39.80 for Small, $49.80 for Large) is from the existing menu and was just as satisfying as on our previous visits. The bowl came brimming with tender slices of seabass, enoki mushrooms, and Sichuan pickled cabbage. What stood out was the broth, which was flavourful yet clean, with a drinkable tang and a gentle heat that even spice-sensitive diners can enjoy.
