Keming Bing Sat (克茗冰室) @ Tampines 1 - Third Outlet With Outlet's Exclusive Dishes

KembingTampines18

China’s famous cha chaan teng concept, Keming Bing Sat (克茗冰室), has opened its third Singapore outlet at Tampines 1, following the success of its existing outlets at Plaza Singapura and Funan Mall. The new outlet brings along a lineup of outlet-exclusive creations, alongside some of its popular signatures.

KembingTampines37
Hong Kong-Style Snack Platter 3.8/5

We started with the Hong Kong-Style Snack Platter ($8.80), which comes with Signature Chee Cheong Fun in Mixed Peanut Sauces, Curry Fish Balls, Sweet Soy Chicken Wings and Thai-Style Shrimp Roll. It’s a great introduction to some of the menu’s snacks, especially if you are dining with a group and want to try a little of everything.

My favourite was the Signature Chee Cheong Fun, which came with a generous coating of the mixed peanut sauces. The soft, silky rice rolls paired particularly well with the nutty, savoury sauce. The curry fish balls had a familiar bouncy texture, while the sweet soy chicken wings brought a more savoury-sweet profile. Overall, it is a pretty satisfying platter to kick-start the meal.

KembingTampines25
Char Siew Rice $10.90 4/5

The undisputed star is the Char Siew Rice ($10.90), touted as the No. 1 Best-Selling Char Siew Rice in China. The char siew is roasted using a time-honoured technique developed by a Hong Kong roast meat specialist with more than 40 years of experience.

The slices came with beautifully caramelised edges and a good balance of lean meat and fatty portions. I liked that the meat was tender without being overly soft, with a subtle smoky sweetness from the roasting. It is served over fragrant and fluffy Wuchang rice, topped with two soft-fried eggs. Break the yolks and let them run into the rice and char siew for extra richness.

The signature in-house sauce is another key component, made with 23 ingredients, including lemongrass, onions, and pork lard. It brings a savoury, aromatic depth to the rice and helps tie everything together. For a relatively humble-looking bowl of char siew rice, there is actually quite a bit going on in terms of flavour and texture.

KembingTampines27

KembingTampines36
Beef Minced Rice with Poached Egg 4/5

One of the new outlet-exclusive creations at Tampines 1 is the Minced Beef Rice with Poached Egg ($10.90). At first glance, this may not look like the most exciting dish, but it packs more flavour than it looks.

Despite being called minced beef, the beef retains a slightly resistant bite rather than being minced into an overly fine or mushy texture. The savoury beef sits on fragrant rice and is topped with a poached egg. Once you break the yolk, its creamy richness coats the beef and rice, bringing everything together into a comforting, satisfying spoonful. Simple, but surprisingly enjoyable.

KembingTampines8
Little Bear Iced Lemon Tea 4/5

KembingTampines3
Trio Happiness Hong Kong Milk Tea 4/5

The Little Bear Iced Lemon Tea ($4.90) was refreshing without losing the underlying tea flavour, making it a good option to cut through the richer dishes. The Trio Happiness Hong Kong Milk Tea ($5.90) takes things up a notch, combining fresh milk, brown sugar pearls, honeycomb caramel crunch and salted cheese foam. You get a mix of creamy, sweet and slightly savoury notes, with the caramel crunch adding some texture to each sip.

KembingTampines15
Happiness Lava Egg Waffles 3.8/5

To end the meal, we had the Happiness Lava Egg Waffles ($6.90 for 4 pcs). These golden waffles put a playful spin on the familiar Hong Kong street snack, with each crispy-edged bubble filled with creamy cheese. The soft, eggy waffle batter provides a slightly sweet base, while the molten cheese filling adds a savoury, umami kick. Best enjoyed while warm.

With its third outlet now at Tampines 1, Keming Bing Sat offers a casual cha chaan teng experience, mixing familiar Hong Kong favourites with new creations exclusive to the outlet. The Char Siew Rice remains the standout for me, while the Minced Beef Rice and Happiness Lava Egg Waffles are worth trying if you want something different.

Note: This is an invited tasting.

Jalan Wong Ah Fook Charcoal Curry Fish Head @ Tampines Street 64 - My Favourite JB-Style Charcoal Curry Fish Head is in the East

JalanWongAhFook20

JalanWongAhFookTampines-2

With curry fish head spots popping up all over the island, it begs the question — which ones are truly worth your time (and calories)? For me, Jalan Wong Ah Fook Charcoal Curry Fish Head in Tampines is a clear standout at the moment. What sets it apart is how closely it mirrors that iconic Johor-style curry fish head many Singaporeans willingly travel across the Causeway for. In fact, the recipe here is inspired by that very same famous establishment in Johor Bahru, resulting in a rendition that feels both nostalgic and satisfying, with slight tweaks to better suit local palates.

JalanWongAhFook14

JalanWongAhFook18
Charcoal Curry Fish Head 4.5/5

The Charcoal Curry Fish Head ($26/$32) is undeniably the star of the show and a must-order. Prepared over charcoal, the curry develops a gentle smokiness that adds an extra layer of complexity to its already robust profile. The gravy is thick, creamy, and deeply spiced — rich without being cloying — coating every element in the pot with its full-bodied intensity.

The fish itself is fresh, with moist and tender flesh that holds up well against the bold curry. Accompanying the fish are classic additions like long beans, lady’s fingers, and brinjals, all of which absorb the curry beautifully. A standout component is the generously sized deep-fried beancurd skin, which soaks up the gravy like a sponge while offering a contrasting texture that makes each bite more satisfying. Altogether, it’s a dish that feels indulgent, comforting, and remarkably close to its Johor counterpart.

JalanWongAhFook9
3-Cup Chicken 4.2/5

Beyond their signature, the kitchen also turns out a commendable selection of zichar dishes. The 3-Cup Chicken ($10) impresses with its aromatic profile — fragrant from Chinese wine, soy sauce, and generous handfuls of basil leaves. The sauce is rich and slightly caramelised, clinging well to the tender chicken pieces, which are thoroughly infused with flavour. It’s a comforting, well-executed classic that complements the heavier curry dish nicely.

JalanWongAhFook13
Pig Trotter Vinegar 4.2/5

The Pig Trotter Vinegar ($15) is another highlight and one I would gladly return for. The trotters are stewed until fork-tender, with a luscious, gelatinous skin that retains a pleasant bounce. Each bite is deeply infused with the sharp, gingery tang of black vinegar, striking a balanced interplay between savoury richness and appetising acidity. It’s a dish that leans towards traditional flavours and delivers them confidently.

JalanWongAhFook21
Fried Shrimp Cake 4/5

A surprising favourite at the table was the Fried Shrimp Cake ($10). Deep-fried to a beautiful golden brown, it boasts a crisp exterior that gives way to a slightly soft, doughy interior. The prawn topping adds an extra layer of crunch and natural sweetness, making it incredibly addictive — the kind of dish you keep reaching for without realising.

JalanWongAhFook29
Sambal Stingray 3/5

The Sambal Stingray ($18), however, was less impressive. While the stingray itself was reasonably well-cooked, the sambal lacked the depth and punch expected of a good sambal chilli — missing that robust, piquant kick that elevates the dish. That said, I appreciated the inclusion of chinchalok on the side, which added a touch of authenticity and extra flavour dimension.

Jalan Wong Ah Fook Charcoal Curry Fish Head delivers a compelling dining experience, especially for those craving that distinctive Johor-style curry fish head without the need to cross the border. The charcoal-cooked curry stands out with its depth, richness, and subtle smokiness, while the supporting zichar dishes round out the meal with satisfying variety. While not every dish hits the mark, the strengths here — particularly the signature curry fish head and pig trotter vinegar — are strong enough to warrant repeat visits. For now, it comfortably ranks as one of the more noteworthy curry fish head spots in Singapore.

Casa Vostra @ Tampines Mall - Opens 3rd Outlet in The East with Exclusive New Dishes

CasaVostraTampines24

Cult favourite Italian casual dining concept Casa Vostra continues its expansion across Singapore with the opening of its third outlet at Tampines Mall on 15 May 2026. Marking its first foray into the East, the 58-seater space brings the brand’s warm, approachable take on Italian dining closer to heartland diners. Even more enticing, the Tampines outlet debuts a selection of new dishes, giving East-side diners early access before they roll out to other locations.

CasaVostraTampines9
Frittatina alla Scamorza

We started our meal with the Frittatina alla Scamorza ($11), a comforting antipasti that delivered both texture and flavour. Crisp and golden on the outside, the deep-fried parcel reveals a molten centre of scamorza cheese, a southern Italian cow’s milk cheese known for its gentle smokiness and stretchy consistency. The addition of honey and a touch of lemon brightens the richness, while thyme lends a subtle herbaceous lift. It’s a simple yet satisfying starter that sets the tone for the meal.

CasaVostraTampines15
Agnolotti al Branzino e Gamberi

Moving on to pasta, the Agnolotti al Branzino e Gamberi ($27) offers a lighter, seafood-forward option. The delicate pillows of agnolotti are filled with a mixture of sea bass and paired with Argentinian prawns, bringing a natural sweetness to the dish. Tossed with capers and San Marzano Tomato DOP, the sauce is gently tangy without overpowering the seafood. Finished with fresh parsley and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, the dish is clean, elegant and well-executed.

CasaVostraTampines19

CasaVostraTampines28
Luicano’s Spaghetti Alla Carbonara

For something more indulgent, we tried Luciano’s Spaghetti alla Carbonara ($21). The pasta is cooked to a satisfying al dente bite and coated in a rich, creamy emulsion of egg yolk, Pecorino and Parmigiano Reggiano. The guanciale adds a savoury depth with its rendered fat and crisp edges, enhancing the overall flavour profile. While undeniably comforting, the richness can feel a little heavy after a few mouthfuls, making it a dish best shared.

CasaVostraTampines23

CasaVostraTampines32
Pizza (Half-And-Half)

One of Casa Vostra’s highlights is its Half-and-Half Pizza option, perfect for indecisive diners. We opted for a combination of the Margherita Affumicata ($19++) and Prosciutto e Nduja ($24++). The Margherita Affumicata builds on the classic with layers of smoked provola and a housemade smoked mayonnaise, adding a subtle smokiness that elevates the familiar combination of San Marzano tomatoes, fiordilatte and fresh basil. On the other hand, the Prosciutto e Nduja delivers a bolder profile, pairing prosciutto cotto with spicy Calabrian nduja, pickled onions and fried sage. The interplay of creamy, smoky, tangy and spicy elements makes this half particularly more complex and flavour-packed. Together, the half-and-half format offers both comfort and excitement in a single pie.

CasaVostraTampines36

CasaVostraTampines38
Tiramisu

To round off the meal, the Tiramisu ($13) provides a classic finish. Layered with mascarpone cream and coffee-soaked savoiardi, the dessert strikes a balanced note between sweetness and bitterness. The use of decaffeinated coffee ensures a milder flavour, making it accessible for all diners while still delivering that familiar tiramisu character.

CasaVostraTampines4
Ballini and Aperol Spritz

Complementing the meal, the Bellini ($16) made with Botter Prosecco N.V. and fruit purée is light and refreshing. At the same time, the Aperol Spritz ($17) delivers its signature bittersweet citrus notes, perfect for pairing with the richer dishes.

Casa Vostra’s Tampines debut successfully brings its signature casual Italian charm into the neighbourhood, with the added draw of exclusive new dishes. The menu strikes a balance between comforting classics and inventive touches, making it a reliable spot for both casual meals and group gatherings. With its approachable pricing, welcoming ambience and thoughtful offerings, it’s easy to see why Casa Vostra continues to resonate with diners across the island.

Shu Da Xia (蜀大侠) @ Tampines 1 - China's Top 10 Hotpot Restaurants Opens in Singapore

Group 1

Singapore's hotpot scene just got a fiery upgrade with the arrival of Shu Da Xia (蜀大侠), a renowned Sichuan hotpot chain ranked among China's Top 10 Hotpot Restaurants. With over 600 outlets and more than a billion visits worldwide, this powerhouse of flavour has landed at Tampines 1, bringing its signature bold and authentic tastes to our shores.

Condiments

Shu Da Xia's condiments station is well-stocked with everything you need to complement your hotpot experience, including a side dish, a rotating fruit selection, and a refreshing Ice Jelly Dessert.

Group 2

We opted for the Triple Pot ($18), choosing from a selection of six soup bases: Mala Beef Tallow, Angelica Pork Bone, and Matsutake Chicken Soup. A standout detail is their dedication to maintaining the integrity of each soup - when refilling, they don't just dilute with a base broth but ensure that every soup continues to simmer with its own distinct ingredients. Other available soup bases include Pickled Cabbage, Tomato, and Mushroom. If you prefer a smaller selection, the hotpot is also available in Single Pot at $22 and Yuan Yang (Dual Pot) at $20.

Mala Chicken Gizzards

For those who love the numbing heat of Sichuan cuisine, the Marinated Pork Ribs ($8/half), Mala Beef ($8/half), and Mala Chicken Gizzards ($5.50/half) are a must-try. These meats soak up the flavours of the Mala Beef Tallow soup beautifully, but be prepared for the potent cumin notes - it can be intense if you're not a fan. Over time, the soup also becomes richly infused with cumin and chilli, which adds a powerful kick but may be overwhelming for some.

Marble Patterned Beef 1
Marble Patterned Beef Slice

We tried the Marble Patterned Beef Slice ($18/half) and Gui Fei Beef ($7.50/half) for a milder option. Thinly sliced and tender, these cuts were perfect in the non-spicy broths, offering a delicate balance to the robust flavours of the meal.

Tai Chi Double Paste 1

Tai Chi Double Paste 4
Tai Chi Double Paste

One of our favourite dishes was the Tai Chi Double Paste ($15/full), a handcrafted seafood delight made with black tiger prawn and squid, topped with fish roe for a fun and crunchy texture.

Vegetable Platter

Kung Fu Celtuce
Kung Fu Celtuce

For a fresh contrast, we enjoyed the Vegetable Platter ($9.50/half), which includes lettuce, romaine lettuce, napa cabbage, corn, and tomato. A highlight was the Kung Fu Celtuce ($3.50/half), delicately sliced for the perfect bite. Be sure not to overcook it to retain its signature crunch.

Dessert 1
Ice Jelly Dessert

We wrapped up our meal with the Ice Jelly Dessert, available at the condiments station. You can customize it with Osmanthus Brown Sugar, Hawthorn Flakes, and Raisins. While the dessert was refreshing, it would be even better served colder and with more topping options.

Snapseed(18)

Shu Da Xia delivers not just on taste but also on atmosphere. The bright yet cosy space is inviting, with ample seating, making it an excellent spot for families and groups. Whether you're a spice enthusiast or just a lover of rich, flavourful broths, this hotpot experience is one to savour. If you're looking for an authentic Sichuan hotpot adventure, Shu Da Xia is definitely worth a visit.

Old Airport Road Zheng Zong Lor Mee @ Tampines Street 43 - Sisters Of Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee Open Own Stall

OldAirportLorMee13

Have you tried the famous Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee at Old Airport Road hawker centre? Recently the sisters of Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee has opened their own stall at Tampines Street 43. The stall name is Old Airport Road Zheng Zong Lor Mee, located at the coffeeshop beside the market. As words get around of their opening after seven months, there is a constant snaking queue for their lor mee now.

OldAirportLorMee8
Lor Mee 4.5/5

I heard that the sisters start the day as early as 130am to start preparing the gravy and ingredients in order to open the stall by 6am. That is a lot of hard work behind a comforting bowl of noodle in a thick and viscous gravy.

OldAirportLorMee4

The Lor Mee ($4/ $5/ $6) comes in three sizes. We have the largest portion loaded with shredded batang fish, braised pork, braised egg, beansprouts and parsley. The serving is very generous. Not forgetting the garlic and vinegar, which is the soul of a good bowl of lor mee. You can also add a dollop of chilli sauce and some chopped chilli to spice up the enjoyment.

OldAirportLorMee15

I have not tried Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee, but accordingly, to my friends, the gravy is lighter in flavour in comparison. For a first-timer like me, I find it acceptable and well balanced. It definitely makes the spot as one of the top lor mee stalls in Singapore.

OldAirportLorMee11

Apparently, the stall also sells prawn noodle. I didn't try it, but if you do, do let me know whether it is good?

Spinelli Coffee @ Tampines Hub - Very First Outlet In The Heartland

SpinelliCoffee2

Spinelli Coffee has opened its very first suburban outlet in the heartland at Tampines Hub. The newest outlet is located near the library side, directly opposite NTUC income. It has both air conditioned and outdoor sitting area.

SpinelliCoffee40
Ice Mocha, Iced Latte 4/5

SpinelliCoffee41
Matcha T-Twist 4/5

The weather has been extremely hot lately, and what better way to cold down at the cafe with a cold drink. A few recommend choices would be the Ice Mocha, Ice Latte and Iced Matcha T-Twist. An interesting twist is the matcha t-twist, which is a blend of matcha powder with cranberries. The combination of bitterness and sourness surprisingly works harmoniously together.

SpinelliCoffee8
Quinoa Salad Bowl 3.5/5

For the health conscious eater. there is a number of salad bowls at Spinelli Coffee. One of these is the Quinoa Salad Bowl ($9.80). The bowl comes filled with fresh crunchy greens, sweet tomatoes and quinoa patties. I love the roasted sesame sauce that is drizzled on top, boosting a flavourful finishing.

SpinelliCoffee15
Bagel Tomate Olive 3.8/5

I am not a bagel person as I dislike the dense texture of the dough. However the Bagel Tomate Olive ($4.50) turns out pretty good. The open-faced bagel topped with cheesy pizza toppings is soft and fluffy.

SpinelliCoffee29
Beef Lasagna 3/5

As for the Beef Lasagna ($10.80), I didn't quite enjoy it. While the flavours from the cheese and beef are spot on, I felt that the pasta sheets are too soft, without texture. This doesn't help with the layer of gooey stretchy cheese on top. it just made the whole dish collapsed into a pool of softness.

SpinelliCoffee38
Devil's Chocolate Cake 4.2/5, Carrot Cake 2.8/5, Strawberry Shortcake 3.8/5

If you are at Spinelli Coffee just to chill, you may want to order some cakes to go along with your drinks. They have a number of cakes such as the Strawberry Shortcake ($6.80), Carrot Cake and Devil's Chocolate Cake ($5.20). If you like something light, then I would recommend the strawberry shortcake, if not my personal favourite the the rich Devil's Chocolate Cake.

SpinelliCoffee45
Cold Brew Ice Cream 3.8/5

Another first at Spinelli Coffee besides opening its first suburban outlet is the introduction of their freshly churned Cold Brew Ice Cream ($4.20). The ice cream is infused with the rich coffee aroma on top of its smooth creamy swirls.
