A Noodle Story @ Amoy Street Food Centre

IMG_0782ed

I was with Kimberly and Nicole having our tea break at Truffs after our Restaurant Week lunch at Gunther's French Modern Cuisine. Since Amoy Street Food Centre is just around the corner, Nicole suggested we checked this new noodle stall. It was through fellow blogger Karen  that we get to know about A Noodle Story at Amoy Street Food Centre.

Opened in February 2013 by a duo trained in Shatec, the pair of noodles lovers created their very own local style Singapore ramen, gourmet quality noodles at hawker prices using modern culinary techniques and Asian flavours. A bowl of the noodle costs $5/$6/$7. It is really quite value for money consider the amount of ingredients that come with the noodle.

In the bowl of Singapore style ramen, you can find Hong Kong Style Wonton, Freshly Sliced Scallions, Cha Su, Crispy Potato Wrapped Prawn, Hot Spring Egg  and of course the Springy Noodles. I was told that during my visit the stall was using Wu Hua Rou for their Cha Su for the past 2 weeks for the leaner meat but will be switching back to pork belly for its aroma and tenderness. The crispy potato wrapped prawn is quite unique. It is like having fried prawn wrapped by rosti.

The stall has created this simple yet complicated dish specially to suit the local taste buds. Why so? It is because the simplest dish to make is actually the most complicated. For me it is either you hate it or like it. Why so? The reason is the noodle. In terms of texture the thin noodles really has a very springy and enjoyable texture. However it has an alkaline taste that was still acceptable to me but may not for many.

The stall is still pretty new and it is still going through refinement and adjustment of the ultimate noodle dish. I look forward for the stall to achieve the dream of serving their Singapore style ramen not only to the locals but all over the world.

MUSEO @ Quayside Isle on Sentosa Island

IMG_0594ed

I have visited Arteastiq Boutique Tea House at Mandarin Gallery in Orchard before and was impressed with their concept of offering social painting with a tea lounge. Now they are going up a gear moving into fine dining with the opening of MUSEO (moo-zay-o) which means museum in Italian at the Quayside Isle on Sentosa Island.

Climbing up the stairs leading to the second floor where the restaurant and barroom is located, customers are first welcome by the bar counter where a range of 30 signature cocktails are concocted here. As we are here for the High Tea Buffet, you will notice the bar top doubles up as their dessert section.

The window seats provide diners a magnificent view of the marina docked with beautiful yachts. The peaceful sanctuary teleports one to a relaxing holiday atmosphere.

For those that prefers a more straight up sitting posture for dining, worry not as there are abundance of such seating around the restaurant.

For group gathering there is a private room to cater for up to 20 guests. It is pretty spacious too.

One of the unique dining concept at MUSEO is Dine in a Cup for a contemporary fusion twist which probably the first in the world. We got to sample some of the MUSEO's Mezzanine range such as the Salmon Curry with Ladyfingers and Barbecued Squid with Chilli and Peppers. There are a total of 12 mezzanines available on their menu. Diners are also given free rein in customising their own mezzanien set by choosing 4 of the 12 for only $39. (Mezzanine is not part of high tea menu).
