Waffletown @ NEWest - Old School Fried Chicken Eatery At Balmoral Plaza Reopens In West Coast (Clementi)

Waffletown, which used to be at Balmoral Plaza, pulled down its shuttle more than a year ago due to rental issue, has reopened the nostalgic fried chicken eatery at NEWest on 31 May 2022. I avoided visiting the eatery until recently to avoid the long queues like any new openings in Singapore, though it is near my home. Furthermore, the new place is half the size of its previous location.

During my visit, though there was no queue line, the place was crowded with diners. So I have to stand for around 20 minutes to get a seat.

Clucky Lucky 3 PC Fried Chicken Meal 4/5

I ordered the Clucky Lucky 3 PC Fried Chicken Meal ($12.20) with sides of potato mash, coleslaw and a soft drink. The chicken pieces are deep-fried to crispy, tender and juicy. It is lightly seasoned with a nostalgic taste, unlike those from the big fried chicken fast food chains. The chicken pieces are also smaller than those served in these fried chicken fast food chains.

On top of that, I also ordered the Fried Chicken & Waffle ($7.20) served with butter and flavoured maple syrup. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get the whole piece of chicken but chicken pieces instead. The waffle was airy, hollow in the middle but crispy on the outside. Taste-wise, I find it bland for my liking.

L'Arte Pizza & Focaccia @ Guoco Tower - Roman-style Pizza By Bulgaria's God Of Italian Pizza Chef Radostin Kiryazov

L'Arte Pizza & Focaccia, located at Guoco Tower, is brought to you by Chef Radostin Kiryazov, widely known as the Bulgaria God of Italian Pizza, who has won countless prestigious awards at the World Pizza Championship.

L'Arte Pizza & Focaccia is a takeaway kiosk whereby customers can look forward to Roman-style pizza that comes in a rectangular shape. The pizza has a light crispy texture with ample bite from its generous air pockets within.

Tartufata 4.2/5

We tried a couple of pizza flavours on the menu, starting with the Tartufata ($9.50/slice | $34/whole). It is probably my favourite for the night. The base is spread with mozzarella and truffle cream with ricotta cheese, topped with parma ham, rocket leaves and parmesan.

Cotto Funghi 4/5

Another beautifully flavoured pizza is the tomato-based Cotto Funghi layered with pork ham, fungi, oregano and mozzarella cheese.

Burrata Salmon 3.5/5

Seafood lovers can go for the Burrata Salmon, paired with smoked salmon, burrata cheese, peppers, zucchini and olive.

Funghi 4.2/5

The dining groups' favourite went to the Funghi pizza, boasting earthy aromas from the truffle cream and assorted mushrooms, with the mozzarella cheese giving it a layer of creaminess.

Melanzzane 3.5/5

For the vegetarian, there is the tomato-based Melanzzane pizza topped with aubergine, mozzarella cheese, chilli flakes, garlic and parsley.

Nutella 4/5

Lastly, we had the dessert pizza - Nutella ($6/slice | $20/whole). It is drizzled with nutella before being topped with banana, strawberry and mint leaves. It is the very pizza that won Chef Radostin first place in the Pizza World Championship 2005, Dessert Pizza Category.
