Kiasu Espresso @ 100 AM
Kiasu Espresso is located at the newly opened 100 AM mall beside Amara Hotel at Tanjong Pagar. Kiasu Espresso is opened by the people behind Forty Hands and Spa Esprit Group. The cafe serves coffee crafted from a blend of Sidama, Antigua and Lintong while some small bites are also sold here.
It was almost 7pm when I visited Kiasu Espresso hence the cafe was rather empty since it was dinner time. I was looknig for a place to hang out while I waited for my dinner at 8pm which is just next door at Bar-Roque Grill.
Latte and Macchiato 3/5
I ordered a cup of Latte while my friend has the Macchiato. I know my people has good words for the coffee at Kiasu Espresso but I did not enjoy my caffeine. I found the blend too bitter to my liking. It was so bitter that I was wondering whether milk was added. By the way I always have latte without sugar.
Chocolate Tart 1/5
As it was quite late already, there wasn't much to choose for our snack. We ended up with a Chocolate Tart which added to our misery. First the tart was being heated up until the dark chocolate filling turned into molten form with a weird plastic like layer on top. It was really unappertising and weird that we left it basically untouched.
While my experience at Kiasu Espresso is not the best, I may still go back to try the pastry there since they are from Tiong Bahru Bakery. Hopefully the coffee will be better in my next visit, maybe the barista has a bad day.
