The Line @ Shangri-La Singapore - An Egg-traordinary Spring Feast Buffet

IMG_2755

The Line at Shangri-La Singapore presents an Egg-traordinary Spring Feast Buffet from 3 to 27 April 2025. Expect an impressive spread that spans Western, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Southeast Asian cuisines, with unlimited servings of premium seafood such as Boston Lobster and Snow Crab.

Cold Selection and Charcuterie Stations

The Cold Selection and Charcuterie Stations feature a well-curated selection of cheeses, cold cuts, and wholesome salads. One of my personal favourites was the Roasted Kabayaki Salmon Salad with Buckwheat Soba Noodles — light, flavourful, and satisfying.

Creamy Salted Egg Pasta with Fried Prawn Balls

IMG_2745
Mushroom-Stuffed Chicken Roulade

The Western Station had an outstanding lineup. The Creamy Salted Egg Pasta with Fried Prawn Balls was a straightforward crowd-pleaser, while the Mushroom-Stuffed Chicken Roulade was elevated with a rich mushroom brown sauce.

Miso-Glazed Barramundi with Creamed Leek

The Miso-Glazed Barramundi with Creamed Leek stood out with its succulent texture and beautiful balance of umami, sweetness, and savoury notes — definitely worth returning for seconds.

Hungarian Beef Goulash

IMG_2756
Mussels with Chorizo and Cherry Tomatoes

The Mussels with Chorizo and Cherry Tomatoes paired perfectly with bread rolls, as did the hearty Hungarian Beef Goulash.

Oven-Roasted Australian Wagyu Beef MB9 Bolar Blade

IMG_2764
Traditional Malay-Style Ayam Percik

At the Carving Station, highlights included the Oven-Roasted Australian Wagyu Beef MB9 Bolar Blade with traditional gravy and Traditional Malay-Style Ayam Percik.

Roasted “Dang Gui” Duck, Roasted Pork Belly

At the Chinese BBQ Station, you can find Roasted "Dang Gui" Duck and Roasted Pork Belly.

IMG_2808
Claypot Seafood Congee

Live stations are scattered throughout the buffet line, including comforting favourites such as Popiah, Claypot Seafood Congee and Singapore Laksa, cooked à la minute.

IMG_2778
Tandoori Live Station, Satay Station

The Indian selection was equally thoughtful. It featured a Tandoori Live Station serving juicy Tandoori Chicken Thighs and a popular Satay Station offering Chicken Satay with traditional accompaniments.

Desserts were a visual and flavourful delight, with dainty mini tartlets, brownies and crisp Choux Craquelin.

IMG_2728
Chocolate Truffle Cake

One of their signatures is the Chocolate Truffle Cake.

IMG_2727
Key Lime Tart

IMG_2732
Cheesecake

Both the Key Lime Tart and Cheesecake were decadent in their own right.

Waffle with Ice Creams

One of the dessert highlights was the Live Mochi Waffle Station. The waffles were crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle. They were served with a variety of condiments, though I found they were best enjoyed with two scoops of ice cream for the ultimate hot-and-cold combo.

The promotion will run from 3 April to 27 April 2025, available Thursday through Sunday (excluding 20 April). Our Festive Lunch and Dinner Buffet starts from $68++ per adult for lunch and $118++ per adult for dinner. On 20 April, there will be a special Easter Sunday Brunch from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, starting from $148++ per adult.

Half Pound Burger Bar & Grill @ Purvis Street - Down To Earth Quality Burgers, Grills And Quintessential Beers

20171018_140522_HDR

Half Pound Burger Bar & Grill at Purvis Street is a much needed update to both our burger joint scene and that particular stretch of shophouses. Do not expect anything fancy, but down-to-earth quality burgers, basic grills, and of course the quintessential beers!

Crispy Wild Mushroom 3.8/5

We started off with Crispy Wild Mushroom ($12) to get our jaws moving. Each shimeji mushroom stalk is juicy with a thin crust perfumed with truffle oil and spiked with parmesan cheese. The signature butter sauce really compliments this finger food, binding the flavours together.

Beef Goulash 3.8/5

The soup of the day was Beef Goulash ($8). Made with tomato base with beef chucks, I love the fact that it is essentially a comforting, light-on-the-stomach kind of soup but fortified with wholesome protein which lend meaty flavours to the soup. Great puree kind of consistency as well.

Seafood Salad 3.5/5

Seafood Salad ($16) is a simple warm salad with freshly grilled squid & prawn. Not your usual frozen seafood, hence, both squid and prawns are succulent and firm. If you like fried calamari, I would recommend their Salt & Pepper Squid, which is made from scratch and not from frozen squid rings.

Gourmet Burger 3.8/5

While its signature Half Pound Burger stays true to the American style, the Gourmet Burger ($26) caters to those seeking for something a lot more indulgent - 220g worth of Foie Gras mixed-in beef patty. Laden with fats and flavour of the foie gras, the patty indeed has a much richer mouthfeel and taste. But it could be slightly too gamey if you ain't a fan of foie gras. What I appreciate most is the toasted bun. It's airy and light, yet the crust of both sides is buttery. The crisp and crunchy raw onion rings does a good job in lending freshness and sharpness to the overall taste. Although the whole idea behind it is that you get to taste foie gras in each bite, I thought one might miss the excitement of seeing it physically sitting on top of the patty when served and the joy of spreading it like butter.

Crab Meat Linguine 3.5/5

Crab Meat Linguine ($20) is a tomato based pasta. The sauce has a deep, rich tomato flavour, edged with an elusive heat and earthy flavour lent from red chilli. Slightly piquant and savoury, it brings out the flavour of the sweet Crab claw meat. The meat is not loose or mushy, but firm to the bite.

Sticky Date Pudding 3.2/5

For something sweet but not too heavy to round up our meal, we chose Sticky Date Pudding ($8) over Chocolate Lava Cake, and I glad I did! Lightly glazed with homemade caramel, the pudding is just as comforting as a rustic apple pie. Its mellow sweetness may just make you crave for more.
