Freshly Shucked Oysters

To elevate your brunch, top up for Freshly Shucked Oysters ($30++ for 6) from their mobile oyster cart, featuring Boutrais La Sentinelle from Ireland and Amelie Super Spéciale from France.

If you’re in the mood for a drink, add on free-flow prosecco at $48++, or opt for prosecco and wines on tap at $58++ per person.

Bread & Dips

The Bread & Dips was simple yet delicious, comprising sourdough, brioche, and baguette paired with strawberry jam, smashed avocado, and a standout umami butter rich with kombu. The butter was so addictive that I was tempted to take home a jar with me (they are available for sale). The smashed avocado, accompanied by a generous drizzle of olive oil, was perfect with the bread as well.

IMG_6466
Salade

Next was a refreshing Salade of crunchy haricot vert beans, strawberries, brillat-savarin cheese, and hazelnuts, brightened with a tangy honey mustard dressing.

IMG_6483
Cold Cuts

The Cold Cuts Platter featured an assortment of pork and chicken liver pâté, salmon rillettes, Parma ham, and hot-smoked mackerel, served with breadsticks, pickled mushrooms, pearl onions, cornichons, Pommery mustard, and cornichons. If the breadsticks are insufficient for you, you can request more bread to pair.

IMG_6513

IMG_6518
Caviar

The Caviar arrived next, accompanied by thin homemade potato chips paired with a sour cream dip featuring egg, chives, and caviar. It was lighter than we expected, and we wished there was a touch bit more salt for better balance.

IMG_6459
Tartare

For Tartare, we had slices of hay-smoked hamachi crudo paired with zesty grapefruit and orange. The balance of citrus and smokiness worked well.

IMG_6533
Seasonal Roasted Mushrooms

We were excited to learn that the restaurant collaborates with local farmers every month to offer a curated selection of seasonal dishes. During our visit, we had Seasonal Roasted Mushrooms - incredibly fresh and lightly dressed, allowing the natural, earthy flavours to come through.

IMG_6488
Egg

For the next Egg dish, diners will be presented with Scrambled Eggs topped with thinly shaved winter black truffle. It was a pity that this was a touch dry for us.

IMG_6522

IMG_6540
Signature Meat

We moved on to the Signature Meat: a Crispy Chicken Leg with tender meat finished with a luscious sauce suprême. This was one of our stars of the brunch.

IMG_6521

IMG_6543
Chef’s Special

The Chef's Special featured the Barramundi Ala Meuniere sat atop brown butter, with capers, herbs and citrus.

Before moving on to the final sweet, it's worth noting that second helpings of dishes are also available, specifically the Bread & Dips, Caviar, Tartare, and Signature Meat.

IMG_6552
Dessert

Dessert paled slightly in comparison to the savouries even though it was served nicely warm, as their Blueberry Tart with Rhubarb Jam came with a softer crust than we’d prefer.

Bedrock Origin @ Oasia Resort Sentosa - New Sunday Bottomless Brunch, The Harvest Table

Kombu tomahawk-1

Bedrock Origin at Oasia Resort Sentosa has just launched a hearty new Sunday brunch that's well worth getting out of bed for. Aptly named "The Harvest Table – Land and Sea", this bottomless brunch offers a delightful communal dining experience, served in the peaceful, resort-style setting of Sentosa.

Held every Sunday from 12pm to 3.30pm (last order at 3pm), The Harvest Table – Land and Sea brunch (4.2/5) is priced at $78++ per person and offers unlimited servings of a multi-course feast. A good number of dishes are served à la minute, where each dish is cooked to order. This ensures that the food arrives hot and fresh, reducing the food waste common in buffet-style dining. It is a nice option for family gatherings, as children aged 6 and under dine for free, while those aged 7 to 12 enjoy the full experience for $28++.

Burrata salad and soup-3

Tiger prawn-1
Grilled Tiger Prawns

Begin your brunch experience with an enticing array of starters. Tear into warm, freshly baked Flatbread served with aromatic Roasted Garlic and Butter, alongside comforting options such as Bedrock's Smoked Tomato Soup and Truffle Mushroom Soup. Salad options include the Chargrilled Caesar Salad, Burrata with Tomato, Grilled Tiger Prawns and Jamon. I loved the creamy freshness of the burrata salad and had multiple servings!

Mashed potatoe-2
Truffle Mashed Potatoes

Complement your meal with a variety of tasty side dishes, served tableside from a roving trolley. Highlights include Bedrock's indulgent Mac 'N' Cheese, Silky Truffle Mashed Potatoes, and the flavourful Beef Fat Fried Rice. I would've happily had a few more bowls if I weren't saving stomach space for the mains.

Corn-1

Brussel sprouts-2

Truffle fries-2
Black Truffle Fries

For lighter options, Sautéed Mushrooms, Chargrilled Spicy Brussels Sprouts, and Woodfire Grilled Chilli Corn are available. The Truffle Fries, served hot and crispy, were also great. While it's tempting to fill up on these yummy sides, be sure to save room for the meat and seafood dishes.

Kombu tomahawk-1

Pork rack-2

Spatchcock chicken-1
Roasted Spatchcock Chicken

The Kombu-cured Tomahawk Steak leads the main course selection, though it might be too rare for some. Other meat options include a slow-cooked Lamb Shoulder, a French Black Pork Rack, and Roasted Spatchcock Chicken, which are all decent, hearty choices. Providing a few more sauces or hot gravy to go with the meat would have made it even better!

Pan fried barramundi-4

Fish collar-2

Clams-2
Clams with White Wine

On the seafood side, there’s Pan-fried Barramundi Fillet, Deep-fried Fish Collar, and the chef’s selection, which during my visit featured a bowl of fresh Clams in White Wine Sauce. I enjoyed all three, but the fish collar stood out the most, with its crispy skin and tender, soft flesh inside.

Crab linguine-2
Chilli Crab Linguine

There are also two pasta options - Carbonara and Chilli Crab Linguine. I tried the chilli crab linguine, but found the sauce lacking. There are also some teething issues with the service — my orders were missed a few times, and we had to gently remind the staff. Fortunately, the long brunch hours meant there was no need to rush.

Apple crumble-1
Apple Crumble

We wrapped our brunch on a sweet note with Bedrock's signature Apple Crumble, served warm and perfectly spiced, complemented by a scoop of ice cream. It's sure to be a hit with both adults and children alike.

Lemon cake-1
Lemon Cake

A cake trolley adds a charming touch, offering a selection of favourites like Chocolate, Banana, Lemon, and Carrot Cake. Unfortunately, the chocolate cake ran out early in the service, so I didn't try it. However, the lemon and carrot cake I tried was not bad.

For drinks, free-flow alcohol is available for just $28++. The offerings include Carlsberg Smooth Draught, Sapporo Premium, and classic cocktails like Mimosa and Bellini. Wine enthusiasts can enjoy Riondo Sparkling Rosé and selections from Casas del Toqui Single Estate: a Sauvignon Blanc and a Merlot.

The non-alcoholic beverage selection is priced at $10++. It offers a variety of refreshing options, such as Cranberry Juice, Pink Grapefruit Juice, Orange Juice, Coke, Coke Zero, Root Beer, Sprite, and Ginger Ale.

Banana cake-2

Overall, The Harvest Table — Land and Sea was a satisfying and relaxed weekend brunch experience. The dishes were generally well-executed, and it is best enjoyed with a group so that you can try everything on the menu. Enjoy 10% off your bill when you pay with Mastercard®, applicable to the bottomless brunch menu only, not the drinks packages.

Violet Oon Singapore @ Dempsey Hill - Embark On a Sensory Journey Through The Vibrant Flavours and Traditions of The Peranakan Culture

IMG_3473

Violet Oon Singapore at Dempsey Hill is where the brand's culinary vision truly comes to life. This expansive standalone restaurant spans over 6,000 square feet across a main floor and mezzanine. It houses a main dining room, private dining rooms for intimate celebrations, and a pet-friendly alfresco area. A newly introduced edible garden within the restaurant grounds allows guests to explore native herbs and spices such as torch ginger, blue pea flower, wild betel, and others that form the essence of their cuisine.

IMG_3504
Kerabu Kacang Botol 5/5

Kerabu Kacang Botol ($18) was simple yet one of my absolute favourites. A traditional salad found in Malay and Peranakan cuisine, this dish features thinly sliced, crisp winged beans tossed in a tangy sambal belacan dressing with dried shrimp. The zesty dressing mellowed the beans' rawness, and every bite delivered a crunchy freshness with umami from the bits of fried shrimp.

IMG_3501
Hati Babi Bungkus 3.5/5

Hati Babi Bungkus ($24) is a labour-intensive Peranakan delicacy featuring pork liver balls spiced with coriander seeds, wrapped in caul fat, and fried until golden brown. The result was tender and juicy, with the liver and coriander imparting a deep, savoury flavour without being overpowering. Chinese mustard greens were served on the side to balance the richness, though the overall flavour leaned towards the sweet side, even without the accompanying sweet sauce.

IMG_3494
Fuyong Hai Crab 3.8/5

Fuyong Hai Crab ($24) was a crowd-pleaser with its soft and fluffy omelette, which featured textural bites from char siew and sweet crab meat. However, the crab felt more like a topping than a core ingredient and didn't quite deliver the same satisfaction as the more indulgent crabmeat omelette I had at Sawadee Thai Cuisine.

IMG_3544
Daging Panggang Sambal Hijau 4.5/5

Under Meat selections, we tried the Daging Panggang Sambal Hijau ($69), a grilled Wagyu ribeye (MB4-5) topped with green sambal and garlic chips. The dish was simply prepared, allowing the natural flavours of the beef to shine. The green sambal added a zingy heat that complemented the meat well, an unconventional but effective pairing.

IMG_3521
Assam Nanas Barramundi 3.5/5

Among the seafood dishes, the Assam Nanas Barramundi with Pink Ginger Flower ($32) stood out with its lively pineapple and ginger flower compote. The tropical flavours were appetising, though the barramundi could have been more moist.

IMG_3531
Gulai Nangka with Prawns and Salt Fish 4/5

I enjoyed the Gulai Nangka with Prawns and Salt Fish ($28) more, with its generous chunks of tender young jackfruit and a mix of textures from the prawns and salt fish. Although I generally prefer curries with a thinner consistency, the gravy was flavoursome, with a good balance of spices that made it rather satisfying.

IMG_3562
Roti Jala with Banana Pengat 5/5

IMG_3552
Coconut Delight 4.5/5

Desserts were a highlight of the meal. Roti Jala with Banana Pengat ($16) featured delicate lace crepes served with a creamy coconut sauce cooked with bananas and gula melaka. The sauce was indulgent without being overly sweet and paired beautifully with the soft crepes, though I would have preferred a deeper, darker gula melaka flavour. Coconut Delight ($16) was refreshing, with coconut jelly made from coconut water and flesh, topped with coconut ice cream and shaved gula melaka. The ice cream introduced a bit more sweetness than expected, but it remained a light and pleasant way to end the meal.
