Ah Pui Tiong Bahru Satay @ 195 Pearl Hill Cafe - Best Satay In Singapore

195PearlHillCafe8

The legendary Tiong Bahru Satay Man, Ah Pui who used to sell his homemade Hainanese pork satay on his pushcart in Tiong Bahru area since the 1970s has now moved into a permanent location at 195 Pearl Hill Cafe. Great to know that after 3 decades of dodging health inspectors, random pop-up events at restaurants, bars and even private home parties, fans of his pork satay knows where to find him now.

As Ah Pui handmade his Hainanese pork satay, there is limited quantity each day. Hence it is best to call and reserve them. I would highly recommend you to do so. Call Ben at +65 97489904 to reserve your satay before going down.

Besides the well-marinated pork that is grilled to golden brown with a slight char at the edges, there is even a layer of fat that gives it the extra oomph. Not forgetting the satay sauce with the pineapple puree. It gives the Pork Satay ($9 for 10 sticks) a hint of spicy with a nutty, sweet finishing from the grated pineapple.

Complementing the Tiong Bahru Pork Satay is Chef Sebastian's Chicken Satay ($9 for 10 sticks). With 10 years of culinary experience under his belt, he has created a Spanish-Indonesian style of chicken satay that is sweet and juicy. The chicken satay is unlike the usual Chinese style, it actually is closer to the Japanese-style yakitori skewer. Elevating the whole experience is the chimichurri that is drizzled on top of the chicken satay.

While the highlights at 195 Pearl Hill Cafe is their satays, it serves other food and coffee too. It is a cafe, after all. Hence you can find coffee, sandwiches, salad and pasta on the menu too.
