For someone staying in the West, Bedok Corner Food Centre is somewhere I hardly venture to in the far East. Little do I know much about the hawker centre except for the Cheng Tng stall. Without any clue what else is good at the hawker centre, I decided to try Bedok Corner Hokkien Prawn Mee which has a queue.
Hokkien Prawn Mee
A plate of the Hokkien Prawn Mee ($4/$5) comes with squid, prawn, beansprouts, egg and pork lard. Most hokkiem mee stalls use a mix of yellow noodle and thick beehoon but over here, the stall uses the thin beehoon. Without a good control of the wok, it is easy to get the beehoon burnt. Hence I really have to applaud the skill of the stall owner.
The other reason why I like about the use of the thinner beenhoon is that it can absorb the stock better. Every strand of the noodles seem to be coated with the sweet robust stock. However for the chilli, I am not a fan of it. I think it can be better.
The other thing I like about the plate of hokkien prawn me is their fried egg, buried together with the pile of noodles. The aroma of the fried egg provides the extra oomph to the whole dimension of the dish.
Overall, this is a good plate of hokkien prawn mee. I am glad that my trip to the far East was not wasted. I really enjoy the plate of wet and flavoursome hokkien prawn mee.

This is my absolute favourite fried hokkien prawn mee ever. Used to go very often back during my childhood, before the renovation of the food court. Must revisit.
