Is this a cafe? Where is the sign board? Where is the door? That is the usual question if it is your first time at Bravery Cafe. If not for my friends that have been here and seeing picture of the cafe front on social media, I would have totally missed this place. In fact, I did miss the place and my friend has to remind me that we actually walked past the cafe earlier when we went to check out another cafe further down the road. By the way Bravery Cafe is opened by the same people from the The Plain.
Lavender Latte 3.8/5
The Lavender Latte ($5.50) was interesting but I regretted getting it. Not that it was bad but being a coffee lover, I prefer to enjoy the bittersweet taste of the caffeine then the perfumed lavender essence that was added into the coffee. However I still can taste that it was a good cup of coffee. So stick to the real stuff and avoid the gimmicks.
Raunchy Eggs 2/5
I did not enjoy the Raunchy Eggs ($14) at all. It came with a pile of shredded raw cabbage, tortilla shell, 2 sunny eggs, spicy beans and anchovies. The taste was a bit acquire for me. I particularly did not enjoy the raw cabbage. I found it hard to appreciate the whole concept of the dish not to mentioned it is quite pricey for 2 eggs and some sides.
Bravery Pancake Stack 4/5
I have read bad reviews about the food at Bravery Cafe so I was not having much high expectation with the Bravery Pancake Stack ($15) especially after the disappointment with the raunchy eggs. To my surprise, the pancakes were fluffy and moist. I like the added pistachio giving it a nice nutty taste and texture. We added another $3 for the honeycomb which was not necessary. The sweet bananas and maple syrup is already way good for the pancakes.
Overall I think Bravery Cafe is still worth checking out. Its bare and simple interior and a hard to find cafe front gives the cafe a form of character which is different from others. Most important they serve a cup of good coffee.
