Hai Di Lao Hotpot (海底捞火锅) @ Clarke Quay

IMG_2309ed

This is a super overdue post dated back in June 2013 when we celebrated Jacob and Shiting's birthday at Hai Di Lao Hotpot (海底捞火锅). Founded in Sichuan back in 1994, Hai Di Lao Hotpot has been one of the biggest hotpot chain in China with over 50 outlets in different major cities of China. After their recent opening in Singapore, it has received many good reviews for their food and excellent service drawing daily long queues. To avoid disappointment, I called weeks in advance and was told to come at 6pm or I will have to queue like the rest.

At Hai Di Lao Hotpot, there is a section where you can help yourself to free flow appertizer and fruits. You can also mix and match your own dipping sauce to go with your hotpot cooked food.

My memory is failing me and I could not remember the price and what exactly we have ordered. If I am not wrong, we ordered the Assorted Vegetables and Assorted Mushrooms to start with. Ordering is done through the ipad but the service staff is always there to help whenever if you need it.

If I remembered correctly, this is the Meat Dumpling which was packed with delectable fillings which we all enjoyed.

We also have the Kurobota Pork, Fish Slices and Hai Di Lao Flavoured Beef to go with our Seafood and Spicy Soup Base. Be warned that their Spicy soup base is fiery. We have to reduce the spiciness by diluting it with the seafood broth. The menu offers quite an extensive selection of fresh and quality meat too. Just be careful with your selection if you don't want to burn a hole in your wallet.

Lastly a group picture of us. Oh by the way, diners at Hai Di Lao is given a red apron to wear so one would not accidentally dirty their clothes while eating. The restaurant also will give you a plastic zip lock bag to protect your mobile phone if you leave it on the table. For those that do not mind queueing up to wait for a seat, I understand that Hai Di Lao provides free manicure and massage while you are waiting for your turn. The only catch is that they are so crowded that you ended queueing for both your meal as well as the free services.
