Thai Express @ Esplanade

I have eaten at Thai Express numerous times but I never knew that the restaurant offered tom yam hor fun. I am introduced to the dish by a twitter friend and decided to give it a try. It was indeed very good. Beside that, I also ordered my favourite glass noodle beef slices soup. Thumb up for Thai Express, food standard has always been consistent.

Pu Tien Buffet @ City Square Mall

This is Pu Tien's first ala carte buffet style restaurant in Singapore. It is located on the 2nd floor of the City Square Mall. There were many bad reviews about their service but many good praises for the food. Despite all the bad reviews I have read about their service, I decided to give it a try since Pu Tien's food standard is generally good.

The food did not disappoint me. While you wait for the ala carte buffet food to be served, you can help yourself to the numerous xiao cai. Service was also prompt and friendly. Overall it was a very good dining experience.

Mad For Garlic @ Suntec City

This Italian restaurant is tucked at a corner of Suntec City Galleria. They were having set meals promotion for 2 persons and 4 persons. The set meal for 2 persons came with a starter, salad, two mains and 2 soft drinks priced around $42. We also chatted up with the waitress and realized that the restaurant is only 5 months old, owner is a Korean and it is a franchise from Korean.

Although it is a garlic theme restaurant, surprisely you don't get the pungent flavor. The garlic flavor did not overpower the dishes but rather it brought out another level of food appreciation. Beside the excellent food, the service were good too.

By the way, some of the dishes can be quite spicy. If you are not game for it tell the waitress less spice.

Waroeng Penyet Corner @ Jurong East

Waroeng Penyet serves the popular Indonesian West Java cuisines. The word “Waroeng” means a traditional hut in Indonesia that serve reasonably priced food, while “Penyet” means flattened.

The various deep fried penyet sets came with fried tempe, tofu, cucumber slices, raw cabbage and lots of chilli! Although the penyet was deep fried, it was not oily at all. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender inside.

Saizeriya Ristorante E Caffe @ Liang Court

This is an Italian restaurant located at the second level of Liang Court Shopping Centre. The restaurant is quite popular with teenagers. Price is very reasonable. A plate of spaghetti is around $6 and you can top up about $2 for free flow of drinks. I guess the value for money concept was the reason why it was popular with the teenagers.

Cheng Kee Beef Kway Teow @ Kovan

Cheng Kee Beef Kway Teow stall is located at Wong Poh Kopitiam near Kovan MRT station. This is one of the best beef noodle in town. I have been a frequent patron of this stall for the past 10 years. Although the stall is no longer ran by the original owner and the price has gone up, the beef noodle is still that superb! Compare to Hock Lam Street beef noodle, the price of $3.50-$6.00 is value for money too.

The stall offers both dry and soup beef noodle. I usually ordered the beef kway teow soup. Most important don't forget the chilli paste and chinchalok for dipping the beef slices. It is just a heaven combination.

The French Stall @ Serangoon Road

The non air conditioned restaurant is located along Serangoon Road just opposite the Shell petrol kiosk. Take the MRT to Farrer Park, exit H, turn right and walk down Serangoon Road. It is less than 5 mins walk from exit H.

The restaurant had a strict sitting policy accordingly to the number of people. Beside that, the service and food are good. We ordered from the set menu which was $17.80 that came with a soup, main and dessert. You can also choose from their other selections by topping up a few dollars.

Kichi Kichi @ CIty Square Mall

Kichi Kichi is the latest concept in town where you can have unlimited serving of dishes from the conveyor belt for your hotpot. I am amazed by their wide variety of dishes available on the conveyor belt. I just can't stop myself from sampling all the dishes. It also had a at lease six different sauces to choose from.

I ordered the chicken broth for my hotpot. The broth went very well with all the dishes not overpowering them. I also enjoyed the different choices of sauces for my dip. Oh! remembered to save some space for the mochi. The mochi was so good that I had three plates after all the food.

Wang Cafe @ Changi Airport T3

Breakfast at Wang Cafe brought back a lot of memories. The breakfast set came with kaya toast, soft boiled egg and a hot beverage. It reminded me of my school days whereby my mum would made soft boiled eggs and bread for breakfast. I would add soy sauce and pepper to the soft boiled eggs and then dipped the bread into it.
