O'bean @ Tanjong Pagar Road

With people get healthier and more conscious with what they eat, it is great to see a cafe like O'bean offering healthy meals for the masses. O'bean is a local brand established since 2008 as Singapore first organic soya drink store. Interestingly it is a vegetarian cafe serving a selection of desserts and drinks which is soya bean base as well as an extensive menu of savoury dishes such as soya porridge, soya ramen and soya kway chap.

O'bean has several outlets around the island. I went to their main branch at Tanjong Pagar which is near to Orchid Hotel. The cafe itself is quite inviting with its casual interior. It also offers free WIFI at the cafe.

When I saw the dessert, Sea Bird's Nest ($3.80) on the menu I thought what a bargain to get bird nest in my dessert. To my disappointment sea bird's nest is actually seaweed jelly, not the real stuff. I actually quite like the dessert as I like soya bean drink and it was not too sweet. In the bowl of dessert, there was longan and grass jelly too.

Original Soya Beancurd  2.5/5

The Original Soya Beancurd ($1.80) with additional 3 in 1 add on for a dollor. I did not enjoy the watery texture of the beancurd at all.

Black Marbles 4/5

My favourite dessert at O'bean has to be Black Marbles ($5.60). The glutinous rice balls were made with soya, peanuts, black beans, black sesame and organic sugar. The skin was thin but has a nice chewy bite and resilient enough to hold the delectable warm oozing peanut fillings inside. It is an enjoyable dessert with the black beans and black sesame giving it that extra aroma. A must try here.

As I mentioned earlier the O'bean Cafe also serves savoury dishes. I am interested to return to check out their soya dumpling and soya porridge. I really wonder how it would taste like. For the dessert, I probably will give the beancurd a miss and just go for the soya bean drink or black marbles.

Magical Christmas 2013 at Park Hotel Group

For a glimpse of the gastronomic festive treats, Grand Park Orchard and Park Hotel Clark Quay put together a sumptuous feast to showcase the quintessential delicacies offered by both hotels during this joyous festive celebrations.

Like all buffet spread, I like to start my feast with the cold items from the seafood selection. Who could resist these beautiful delicacies from the ocean.

Glazed Five Spice Bone-in Gammon Ham with Orange Cinnamon Sauce 4/5

Standing high and tall among the spread is the Glazed Five Spice Bone-in Gammon Ham with Orange Cinnamon Sauce. Baked at a low temperature with honey, brown sugar, freshly grated honey pineapple puree and five spice powder. The rich, citrus and spicy sweet flavours is a nice different from the classic baked glazed ham.

Baked Salmon with Seafood 4/5

The Baked Salmon with Seafood is pretty interesting. I wonder how the chef managed to roll up all the seafood and salmon together into a roll. Pair with the dill sauce, it elevates the whole enjoyment of the dish.

Roasted Beef Prime Rib 4.2/5

The Roasted Beef Prime Rib was beautifully cooked, tender and juicy. Washed it down with a glass of red will be just perfect.

Roasted Spanish Paprika 4.2/5

The Roasted Spanish Paprika comes with crackling skin with the succulent pork belly stuffed with apricot. Each bite of the angmo sio bak was a delight.
