Keum Eun Don Korean BBQ @ HillV2 - The Idol-Visit Seoul BBQ Known for Its Premium Pork and Woodae Galbi Lands in Singapore

KeumEunDonIG-14

Imported straight from Seoul’s Yongsan district, Keum Eun Don arrives in Singapore with a strong pedigree rooted in craftsmanship, provenance, and a deep respect for Korean grilling culture. Widely recognised as a celebrity-frequented establishment located beside HYBE Entertainment in Seoul, the brand carries the official 모범음식점 (Exemplary Restaurant) certification — a testament to its consistency and quality.

Built on 17 years of F&B expertise, Keum Eun Don is best known for its Iberico pork programme. Selected cuts undergo a meticulous two-stage ageing process, wet ageing followed by dry ageing,  designed to develop both tenderness and a clean, concentrated flavour profile. Before reaching the table, the meats are lightly kissed with charcoal aroma in the kitchen, setting the stage for diners to complete the grilling themselves for optimal doneness.

KeumEunDonIG-3

Adding to its credibility, actor and WANNA ONE member Hwang Min Hyun recently named Keum Eun Don as his personal go-to for Korean BBQ, citing its precision grilling and premium execution. His endorsement feels less like marketing and more like insider validation, the kind that reflects genuine loyalty.

Banchan 4/5

As expected, the meal begins with a spread of complimentary banchan and dipping sauces. While the assortment is fairly standard, a few stood out. The kimchi delivered a satisfying balance of tang and depth, while the corn and potato sides offered a comforting sweetness that complemented the grilled meats nicely. It’s a modest but well-executed supporting cast.

KeumEunDon28
EUN Set 4/5

We opted for the EUN Set ($145), designed for 2 to 3 diners. The set includes Prime Beef Short Rib, Pork Belly, Pork Collar, a choice of stew, and a single drink.

While the quality of the meat is evident, the set’s structure feels somewhat restrictive. The inclusion of only one drink, despite being marketed for up to three diners, feels unusual. Similarly, limiting the set to just one stew choice lacks the variety typically seen in Korean BBQ sets across Singapore, where additional sides or cooked dishes are often included. From a value perspective, it leans on the premium quality of ingredients rather than quantity or diversity.

KeumEunDon37
Pork Collar 4/5

Built on 17 years of F&B expertise, Keum Eun Don specialises in Iberico pork, with selected cuts undergoing a two-stage ageing process of wet ageing followed by dry ageing, developed specifically to enhance depth, tenderness, and a clean flavour profile. Before service, the meats are lightly exposed to the charcoal aroma in the kitchen to enhance their natural smokiness, then served to guests to complete the grilling process at the table, ensuring full control over doneness and texture.

KeumEunDonIG-17
Pork Belly 4.2/5

A standout cut, the Pork Collar exemplifies Keum Eun Don’s expertise in Iberico pork. Compared to pork belly, it carries a higher lean-to-fat ratio, resulting in a more balanced bite. The marbling ensures juiciness, while the texture remains tender without veering into chewiness. Thanks to the dual ageing process, the pork collar develops a deeper, almost nutty pork flavour that lingers pleasantly. Grilled over the tabletop charcoal, it achieves a beautiful caramelisation while retaining its moisture, a testament to both the ingredient quality and preparation technique.

The Pork Belly, or samgyeopsal, delivers exactly what fans of Korean BBQ seek — richness, indulgence, and textural contrast. Comprising alternating layers of meat and fat, the cut crisps up beautifully on the grill, yielding a satisfying bite that is both juicy and slightly charred. At Keum Eun Don, the sourcing elevates this classic beyond the ordinary. The fat renders cleanly without greasiness, and each bite carries a depth that speaks to careful ageing and quality control.

KeumEunDonIG-12
Prime Beef Short Rib 4/5

A Singapore-exclusive addition, the Prime Beef Short Rib (woodae galbi) introduces a beef option to a pork-centric concept. The cut is aged and subtly infused with charcoal aroma before service. On the grill, it cooks quickly, revealing a tender, almost buttery texture. The flavour is rich yet refined, with a slight smokiness that enhances rather than overwhelms the natural beefiness. While it diverges from the brand’s pork-focused identity, it serves as a strong complement for those seeking variety.

KeumEunDon34
Soft Tofu Stew with Seafood 4.2/5

For the stew, we chose the Soft Tofu Stew with Seafood. Served bubbling hot, the dish features silky tofu immersed in a robust, spicy seafood broth. The stew strikes a comforting balance, bold in flavour yet not overly heavy. The umami from the seafood adds depth, while the gentle heat cuts through the richness of the grilled meats, making it an essential companion to the BBQ experience.

Keum Eun Don brings a slice of Seoul’s refined Korean BBQ culture, emphasising technique, ingredient quality, and precision. The Iberico pork programme, in particular, stands out for its depth of flavour and thoughtful preparation, making it the highlight of the experience. That said, while the EUN Set showcases the restaurant’s strengths, it falls slightly short in perceived value compared to other Korean BBQ offerings in Singapore, which often offer a broader selection of dishes at similar price points. Ultimately, Keum Eun Don is less about abundance and more about refinement. In this place, the focus is on doing a few things exceptionally well rather than offering everything at once.

Seorae Jib @ Plaza Singapura - Unveils Singapore’s First 100 Knife Cuts Kkot Samgyeopsal

SeoraePlazaSingapura-15

SeoraePlazaSingapura-2

Known for its expertly hay-smoked meats, Seorae Jib introduces a novel way to savour Korean barbecue with its 100 Knife Cuts Kkot Samgyeopsal, also known as the “Flower Pork Belly”. I visited the Plaza Singapura outlet to experience this meticulous preparation that elevates the humble pork belly into something quite extraordinary.

Seorae100Cuts8

The highlight here is undoubtedly the premium Canadian air-flown pork belly, painstakingly scored with over 100 precise knife cuts. During our visit, the chef presented the slab and demonstrated the intricate cutting technique, which transforms the meat into a mesh-like structure. This not only tenderises the pork but also allows heat to penetrate more evenly during grilling.

Seorae100Cuts22

SeoraePlazaSingapura-16

As the pork hits the grill, the cuts open up and curl slightly, forming a “flower” shape. The result is a beautifully caramelised exterior with crisp edges, while the interior remains juicy and succulent. Enjoying a piece on its own allows the natural sweetness of the pork fat to shine, complemented by a delicate smokiness from the grill. It’s a simple yet deeply satisfying bite that showcases the quality of the meat and the precision behind its preparation.

Seorae100Cuts11

Seorae100Cuts13

We tried the 100 Knife Cuts Kkot BBQ Set 700g ($118, with 20% off from 1 May to 30 June 2026), which offers excellent value and variety. Alongside the signature pork belly, the set includes:

● 100 Knife Cuts Kkot Samgyeobsal
● 100 Knife Cuts Kkot Nuruk Moksal
● Galmaegisal (Original)
● Woosamgyeob
● Choice of Japchae, Mul Naengmyeon, or Bibim Naengmyeon
● Cheesy Gyeran Jjim
● Optional Jjigae (Kimchi, Sundubu or Doenjang) at $10

Seorae100Cuts3
Subak Mocktail

In celebration of Parents’ Day from 1 May to 30 June 2026, diners can enjoy a complimentary Subak (watermelon) Mocktail (U.P. $17.90) in May when dining with mum and ordering the BBQ set. Simply snap a photo of feeding your mum, tag the restaurant on social media, and present it in-store for redemption. June continues the festivities with Father’s Day specials.

SeoraePlazaSingapura-30
Japchae, Cheesy Gyeran Jjim

For our carb option, we went with the Japchae, featuring springy glass noodles tossed in a lightly sweet soy-based sauce with vegetables. It’s well-balanced and comforting, providing a pleasant contrast to the richness of the grilled meats.

The Cheesy Gyeran Jjim arrives piping hot and fluffy, almost soufflé-like, with a layer of melted cheese adding extra savouriness. It’s soft, airy and incredibly moreish — perfect for rounding out the meal.

Seorae100Cuts14

SeoraePlazaSingapura-12

SeoraePlazaSingapura-27

To elevate the experience, Seorae Jib offers 10 different ways to enjoy the Kkot Samgyeopsal. From dipping it into house-made meljeot (anchovy sauce), wrapping it in lettuce with pungent leek salad, pairing it with marinated squid and seaweed, or even combining it with grilled tortilla and melted cheese — each variation brings out a different dimension of flavour and texture.

Seorae100Cuts17

Seorae100Cuts20

The Kkot Nuruk Moksal (pork collar) carries a slightly firmer bite with a deeper, savoury profile, while the Galmaegisal (pork skirt) is prized for its tenderness and rich flavour. The Woosamgyeob, thinly sliced beef belly, cooks quickly and delivers a luscious, melt-in-the-mouth texture.

SeoraePlazaSingapura-33

Seorae Jib’s 100 Knife Cuts Kkot Samgyeopsal is more than just a gimmick — it’s a thoughtfully executed technique that genuinely enhances the texture and flavour of the pork. The interplay of crispy edges and a juicy interior, combined with multiple ways to enjoy it, makes for a dynamic and engaging Korean BBQ experience. With its value-for-money set and limited-time promotions, this is one experience that Korean barbecue enthusiasts would not want to miss.

Japanese A5 Wagyu Chuck Roll

ShabuDaysHillionMall4
Pork Collar

During our visit, we opted for the Japanese A5 Wagyu Chuck Roll and Pork Collar. Sliced upon order, the meats showcased beautiful colour and marbling, immediately hinting at their quality. The Japanese A5 Wagyu, in particular, was richly marbled, delivering a buttery tenderness and depth of flavour that melted effortlessly with each swish in the broth. The Pork Collar, on the other hand, offered a satisfying balance of lean meat and delicate fat, remaining juicy and flavourful after cooking.

ShabuDaysHillionMall32
Bonito Kombu Broth 4.2/5

ShabuDaysHillionMall23
Tangy Tomato Broth 4.2/5

Complementing the meats is a selection of nourishing broths, each bringing its own distinct character to the experience. The Bonito Kombu broth stood out with its clean, umami-rich profile, layered with the subtle sweetness of kombu and the smokiness of bonito. The Herbal Angelica broth offered a gentle, comforting herbal note, while the Tangy Tomato provided a light, refreshing acidity that brightened the meal. For those seeking bolder flavours, the Sukiyaki broth paired with a pasteurised egg delivers a sweet-savoury richness. In contrast, the Spicy Umami broth caters to those who prefer a more robust and punchy base.

ShabuDaysHillionMall5

Each set is accompanied by a thoughtfully assembled Yasai Garden Bowl, featuring a colourful medley of seasonal vegetables, including green and red coral lettuce, enoki and shimeji mushrooms, and carrot and pumpkin. This not only adds vibrancy to the meal but also balances the richness of the meats with freshness and texture. Diners can further customise their set with a choice of carbohydrates, Calrose white rice, ramen or udon alongside the "Three Treasures" of kinchaku, mini chikuwa and gyoza, rounding out the meal with additional variety.

ShabuDaysHillionMall40

A highlight of the Shabu Days experience is the signature DIY Egg Risotto (add $3.50). Using the remaining broth, diners can transform it into a comforting, risotto-style dish by adding rice, a pasteurised egg, and condiments. This interactive finale is both satisfying and resourceful, allowing the broth's flavours to culminate in a warm, hearty finish.

ShabuDaysHillionMall19

Overall, Shabu Days delivers a well-executed solo hotpot experience that strikes a fine balance between quality, value and convenience. With its curated sets, quality ingredients and comforting flavours, it is a concept that invites repeat visits, whether for a quick solo meal or a casual, satisfying indulgence.

Xita Lao Tai Tai (西塔老太太) @ Bugis+ - Launches 4 Pax Feastive Feast

Festive platter-1

Suppose you enjoy tasty barbecue, hearty dishes, and the lively atmosphere of communal dining. In that case, Xita Lao Tai Tai Bugis+ is ready to welcome you for a season of feasting and gatherings this holiday season. Known for its Korean-influenced Clay Stove Barbecue grills, signature marinades, and charmingly nostalgic interior, Xita Lao Tai Tai has built a following in Singapore’s ever-evolving BBQ scene. It is also well worth joining their membership programme, as members get to enjoy special deals and attractive discounts.

Festive platter-2
Festive Set BBQ Platter

Their seasonal Festive Set is priced at $108 for members (usual price $151.80) and includes four types of BBQ meat: the Xita BBQ Meat Tower, pork belly, pineapple-glazed beef rib fingers, and secret-marinated chicken chop. It consists of a cold-dressed chicken appetiser, joyful sesame balls, and strawberry ice burst for dessert.

We also ordered some a la carte items to complement our experience. I was pleasantly surprised that the team helped grill all the meats for us, which made the experience relaxed, enjoyable, and completely fuss-free. We could focus on eating and chatting while the staff refilled our plates.

Banchan and appetisers (extra shot)-2

Drinks-1
Banchan/Accompaniments, Drinks

Along with our meal, we were served a generous selection of accompaniments, including kimchi, fresh lettuce for wraps, potato salad, and a comforting pumpkin soup. We also enjoyed some refreshing iced slushies, which were perfect for cooling down between all the grilling and feasting.

Xita bbq tower-1

Xita bbq tower-7

The highlight of the Festive Feast has to be the Xita BBQ Meat Tower, dressed for the festivities with charming decorations and stacked generously with assorted cuts. Each cut is well-seasoned, tender, and neatly portioned for easy sharing.

Pineapple glazed beef rib finger-6

Pineapple glazed beef rib finger-3
Pineapple Glazed Beef Rib Fingers

The Pineapple Glazed Beef Rib fingers come with a tangy, lightly sweet glaze that helps tenderise the meat, and the natural richness of the beef pairs beautifully with these flavours. The grilled pineapple slices were a delightful treat as well.

Pork belly-2

Pork belly-4
Pork Belly

No barbecue meal feels complete without Pork Belly, and the slices here are deeply marinated, allowing the fat to render into a crisp outer layer with a soft, melty centre.

Pork collar-1
Pork Collar

The Pork Collar, which is not part of the Festive Feast but is a recommended add-on, is another excellent choice. It is slightly leaner than the belly yet still wonderfully succulent, and it grills beautifully over the claypot heat. Both cuts are the sort of crowd-pleasing staples that disappear quickly once the grilling begins.

Chicken chop-5

Chicken chop-1
Secret Marinated Chicken Chop

The Secret Marinated Chicken Chop is juicy and stays wonderfully tender on the grill, with a comforting flavour that makes it an easy crowd-pleaser at the table.

Crispy tofu-2
Golden Tofu

Cold dressed chicken-1
Cold Dressed Chicken

For a light side dish, golden tofu is satisfying yet straightforward, adding a pleasant contrast to richer meats. The Cold Dressed Chicken appetiser, part of the set, is served chilled and refreshing, offering a gentle, clean-tasting start before the grilled items begin to arrive.

Seafood pancake-2
Seafood Pancake

Golden glutinous rice ball-1
Golden Glutinous Rice Ball

The Seafood Pancake came out nice and crispy, but unfortunately, we found it a little too oily for our liking. The Golden Glutinous Rice Ball, on the other hand, was satisfyingly yummy and chewy, with a slight sweetness.

Clam soup-2
Clam Soup

The Clam Soup is light, clear, and subtly sweet from the clams. It helps cleanse the palate between bites and is also comforting to sip while waiting for the next round of grilling, especially amid all the smoke and warmth from the stove.

Joyful sesame balls-2
Joyful Sesame Balls

Strawberry burst-2
Strawberry Ice Burst

Two desserts are included in the festive set. The Joyful Sesame Balls are pleasantly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, with a sesame filling. To conclude, the Strawberry Ice Burst is light, fruity and refreshing, making it ideal after a table full of smoky and savoury dishes. It is, however, on the sweeter side.

Xita bbq tower-9

In conclusion, dining at Xita Lao Tai Tai Claypot Stove BBQ is lively and well-suited for gatherings. If you are looking for a fun place in town to celebrate with friends or simply enjoy a good BBQ with quality meats, Xita Lao Tai Tai is a wonderful option this season.
