Momolato @ North Bridge Road - New Halal Dessert Cafe with Gelato, Kunafa Waffle and Savoury Options

IMG_7864

Momolato, a halal-certified dessert cafe, has opened its second outlet on North Bridge Road following the success of its first location in Haji Lane. The cafe now offers an expanded menu featuring plated desserts, savoury options, and signature gelato.

IMG_7938

The cosy 20-seater has a warm atmosphere and is adorably decorated.

IMG_7871
Gelato 3.8/5

Diners will be spoilt for choice at their 24 rotating Gelato flavours display. Scoops start at $5.30, with premium selections available for an additional $1. Unique flavours such as Popcorn Butterscotch and Hibiscus Apple offer intriguing options, although all that we sampled leaned toward the sweeter side.

IMG_7918
Warabi Mochi Coffee 3.5/5

From the beverage menu, the Warabi Mochi Coffee caught our eye. The Emerald Beast ($8.50) combines roasted Sicilian pistachio, pistachio milk, espresso, and warabi mochi, while the Shady & Nut ($7.90) features chocolate hazelnut milk, hazelnut bits, espresso, and warabi mochi. All warabi mochi used are homemade.

IMG_7907

IMG_7916
Sicilian Pistachio Kunafa 4.2/5

A highlight is the newly launched Sicilian Pistachio Kunafa ($21), a plated dessert that pairs a buttermilk waffle with crisp ricotta-mozzarella kuna fa, Sicilian pistachio cream, caramelised banana, torched fig, and pistachio gelato, offering delightful textural contrasts.

IMG_7876

IMG_7881
Fried Buttermilk Garlic Chicken Waffle 3.8/5

The savoury Fried Buttermilk Garlic Chicken Waffle ($16.90) features buttermilk chicken with truffle cheese sauce and maple honey, though the sauce could benefit from a thicker consistency.

IMG_7882
Cheddar Cheese Coin 3/5

It was a pity that our Cheddar Cheese Coin ($6.50) seemed to have less cheese added, which led to the lack of an oozy cheese stretch we were hoping for. Otherwise, the batter itself was buttery and fragrant.

IMG_7890

IMG_7900
Yellow Fever 3.8/5

The Yellow Fever ($16) blends mango pudding, coconut cream, and mangoes in syrup, topped with coconut gelato, reminiscent of tropical desserts like mango sticky rice and mango sago.

IMG_7924
Korean Strawberry Cheesecake 3/5

Fans of mochi can look out for their mochi-centred desserts, such as the Korean Strawberry Cheesecake ($12). It has deep-fried mochi wrapped around Korean strawberry cheesecake gelato and drizzled with strawberry sauce. While the chewy mochi was enjoyable, the drizzle felt overly sweet and slightly artificial. We would also have liked the cheesecake flavour to be more distinct.

IMG_7930
Not Plain Jane 3.8/5

Finally, the Not Plain Jane ($12). This thin crepe is filled with fresh vanilla cream and topped with strawberries and French vanilla bean gelato. The sweetness here was well-balanced.

CÉ LA VI Singapore @ Marina Bay Sands - Unveiled New Menu With Modern Asian Flavours

IMG_8570

CÉ LA VI Singapore at Marina Bay Sands unveiled a new menu that Executive Chef Joshua Bedell and his team crafted. With over two decades of culinary experience in Asian cuisine across New York, Hong Kong, and Melbourne, the new menu carries both Chef Bedell's creative touch and his team's interpretations of modern Asian cuisine.

IMG_8547
Miyazaki Wagyu Beef Carpaccio 4.5/5

Miyazaki Wagyu Beef Carpaccio ($52) made a luxurious starter for appetisers. The thinly sliced wagyu beef had a mouthfeeling texture further boasted by creamy smoked aioli. Pickled cucumber cubes and ponzu sauce cut the richness, while caviar and shimeiji mushrooms enhanced the umami depth of the dish.

IMG_8550
Grilled Octopus 4.5/5

The Grilled Octopus ($38), inspired by Chef Bedell's Melbourne experience, stood out with a perfectly done octopus, which enticed with a smoky flavour complemented by a vibrant yellow pepper soy sauce with a gentle kick of heat, mellowed by crisp green apple shavings.

IMG_8574
Halibut 4.5/5

For mains, the Halibut ($38) interests with its Eastern spice crust, paired with tamarind jus and a mushroom ragout. The rich mushroom ragout was a star on its own. Its earthiness harmonised with the tanginess of the jus, creating a delicious pairing to the halibut.

IMG_8581
A4 Miyazaki Striploin 4.5/5

The A4 Miyazaki Striploin ($130) was one of the better ones I had in a while. The beef was done on point, accompanied by grilled king oyster mushrooms, char-grilled leek, and a golden potato terrine. Tying the elements together was a rich kombu demi-glace, which brought out the flavour profile of the beef.

IMG_8576
Roasted Cauliflower 2.8/5

The Roasted Cauliflower ($28), a signature from CÉ LA VI Dubai, was presented on a bed of creamy cauliflower purée. Almond and golden raisin crumbles provided texture and a burst of fruity sweetness, though the cauliflower could benefit from being slightly more tender.

IMG_8585
Dulce Miso Toffee 3.5/5

For desserts, the shape of the Dulce Miso Toffee reimagines the nostalgic ice gem biscuit, encasing a sticky toffee pudding within a chocolate mousse. While flavorful, it lacked the iconic sticky pudding texture I desired.

IMG_8591
Tropical Mango 4/5

The Tropical Mango ($18) is a delightful tribute to Thai mango sticky rice. Fresh Thai mango cubes mixed with Japanese rice cooked in coconut cream adorned with a crispy rice tuile. The tangy mango cubes balanced the sweet and creamy rice pudding. It was a much lighter option compared to the traditional version, yet equally satisfying.

Thai Paradise @ Clementi Ave 5 - New Thai Eatery In The West To Spice Up Your Meal

ThaiParadise22

Thai Paradise is a new Thai eatery located at Clementi Ave 5 near the Clementi police station. Though it has limited seats, the standalone eatery offers an extensive menu ranging from one meal dishes to cooked dishes for a family meal.

ThaiParadise8
Basil Pork with Rice & Egg 4/5

As we were at Thai Paradise for lunch, we ordered the one meal dishes accompanied by several side items. First is the Basil Pork with Rice & Egg ($6.50). The pricing is very reasonable, with a decent portion for a meal dish. The flavours for the basil pork are on the spot, which goes very well with the steamed rice. I only hope that it can be spicier.

ThaiParadise16
Beef Noodle 4/5

If you prefer noodles over rice, the Beef Noodle ($5.90) is a delicious consideration. The beef noodle comes in a robust and thick broth, accompanied by beef slices, beansprouts and beef balls. I usually add a bit of Thai chilli flakes to give it some extra kick, boosting the enjoyment.

ThaiParadise23
Grilled Pork Cheek 3/5

Next, we have the Grilled Pork Cheek ($12), which looks like boiled pork instead of being grilled. It's tender and clean tasting. Best to have it with the accompanying Thai chilli sauce. However, I prefer it to be more grilled and charred for that smoky aroma.

ThaiParadise29
Tom Yum Milk Red 4/5

You can go for either the clear or red for tom yum soup. I decided to go for the Tom Yum Milk Red ($7/$12/$18), creamy, spicy and brimming with seafood.

ThaiParadise36
Pandan Chicken 4.5/5

A must-try is the Pandan Chicken ($8.90 for 4pc). The chicken is deep-fried to crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy inside. It even comes with a beautiful pandan and lemongrass aroma.

ThaiParadise53
Mango Sticky Rice 4.2/5

ThaiParadise46
Red Ruby 4.2/5

We had the Mango Sticky Rice ($5.90) and Red Ruby ($4), Wrapping up our lunch. These desserts are legit, using the freshest ingredients. They are not to be missed to complete a satisfying meal at Thai Paradise.

Greenhouse @ Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore - Multi-ethnic Cuisine Served All Day From Five Show Kitchens

GreenHouse5

At Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore, Greenhouse is an all-day dining multi-ethnic restaurant anchored by five show kitchens. The beautiful restaurant is clad in lush greenery and bountiful botany, with an unobstructed view of the golf course.

GreenHouse3
Tom Yum Goong 4.2/5

From the Thai kitchen, we started with Tom Yum Goong ($24++) packed with the characteristic Thai sweet, sour and spicy flavours. It even comes with huge river prawns. The authentic taste makes me miss my trips to Bangkok.

GreenHouse29
Phad Thai Phak 4/5

Another staple Thai dish on the menu is the Phad Thai Phak ($25++). The stir-fried rice noodles with tamarind sauce are nested in an egg nest, paired with broccolini and beansprouts. I am glad they do a wet version, which is also not too sweet—precisely the way I preferred.

GreenHouse33
Khao Niao Mamuang 4.2/5

We had our favourite Thai dessert to complete the Thai food section. The Khao Niao Mamuang ($12) comes in trio-coloured glutinous rice - blue pea, pulut hitam and pandan paired with sweet mango.

GreenHouse8
Binchotan Robata Sanchoku Wagyu Beef 4.8/5

From the Japanese kitchen, we had the Binchotan Robata Sanchoku Wagyu Beef MS 6/7 ($38++). The chunky wagyu is extremely tender and juicy, grilled to a delectable smokiness.

GreenHouse18
Corn Fed Coquelet Tandoori 4.2/5

Diners craving traditional Punjabi Tandoor cuisine will enjoy the Corn Fed Coquelet Tandoori ($36) paired with freshly baked naan. I enjoyed the succulent chicken marinated in yoghurt and spices that has been roasted to perfection.

GreenHouse31
Kurobuta Pork $30

For something closer to my heart is the Sweet & Sour Kurobuta Pork ($30) from the Chinese kitchen. It is meaty and juicy coated in a delightful sweet and sour sauce comprising tomato, Chinese rice wine vinegar and plum sauce. Worth noting is the addition of lychee, giving it a fruity, sweet finishing.

Personally, I love the space at the restaurant and am impressed with the food at Greenhouse. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very inaccessible. Unless you drive, if not even taking public transport, you still need to walk quite a bit from the main road to the restaurant. I would recommend taking the MRT to Expo MRT station and taking a cab or private hired car to the restaurant.

Dine At Home During Circuit Breaker - Soi Aroy

SoiAroy1

One of the better meals I had during the circuit breaker period is Thai food from Soi Aroy. I am glad that even during this pandemic, I am still able to discover new restaurants that I didn't get to visit before the whole world goes into various lock down measures to fight against the pandemic.

SoiAroy3
Premium Tom Yum Soup with Thai Mama

In my opinion, the best way to tell whether a restaurant is serving legit Thai food is from their tom yum soup. When I took a sip of the Premium Tom Yum Soup, it blew me away with its depth and bold flavours. You can choose to go along with some rice or add noodles to it. Customers will have a choice of egg noodles, brown rice bee hoon, Thai rice noodle or Thai Mama. I have gone for the Thai Mama as I like my maggie mee.

SoiAroy4
Thai Collagen Porridge

Another dish that caught my attention is the Thai Collagen Porridge. The rice and ingredients come packed separately from the 12hr collagen base soup without MSG. It is very hearty and comforting. You can also request additional ingredients such as egg, vegetables, meat patty and more.

SoiAroy7
Grilled Pork Cheek

SoiAroy9
Lemongrass Chicken

For some grilled stuff, they have Grilled Pork Neck and Lemongrass Chicken. The grilled pork has a delightful crunchy bite on top of its smokiness. The lemongrass chicken was tender with refreshing lemongrass aroma.

SoiAroy8
Thai Fish Cakes

Another popular item on their menu is the Thai Fish Cakes which goes excellently with the Thai sweet spicy sauce.

SoiAroy10
Thai Seafood Fried Rice

As I mentioned earlier that I have not visited Soi Aroy at Sim Lim Square so I went online and try to find out more about the restaurant. I realized it is actually quite a small place located on level 2 of the mall. It amazes me that with such a constraint space, the restaurant was able to wok up so many varieties on their menu. Besides the dishes I mentioned earlier, they have many more cooked dishes such as Thai Seafood Fried Rice, Thai Basil Pork, Sambal Kang Kong with Squid and Sambal LaLa.

SoiAroy11
Thai Basil Pork

SoiAroy5
Sambal Kang Kong with Squid

Thai Basil Pork and Sambal Kang Kong with Squid is probably two of my most ordered items whether I visited a Thai restaurant. With a plate of fragrant steamed rice, it basically completes a meal.

SoiAroy6
Sambal LaLa

Worth mentioning is their Sambal LaLa. Not only was the LaLa fresh and juicy, it like the layer of aroma from the Thai basil which just elevated the whole spicy affair.

SoiAroy13
Mango Sticky Rice

Not to forget to wrap your meal with some sweetness too. This can also helps to cool the tongue after all the spicy food. Some of the desserts I tried are Mango Sticky RiceTapioca, Red Ruby and Mango Sago.

SoiAroy14
Tapioca, Red Ruby and Mango Sago

Currently the restaurant is having the following promotion. Free drink for every $15 spent and $5 off for orders above $50. Delivery fees ranged from $5 to $17 depend on the zone. You can refer to their facebook page for the delivery fee charges. To order WhatsApp the restaurant at 9641 8988.
