Fu Ming Cooked Food @ Redhill Food Centre

A common hawker fare at many hawker centres and food courts is the carrot cake but not many can do it well. I have read many reviews that Fu Ming Cooked Food at Redhill Food Centre wok up some pretty awesome carrot cake. I was glad that I am able to check out the stall since I was in the vicinity.

Black Carrot Cake 4.2/5

At Fu Ming Cooked Food, the stall cooks both the white and black version. I tried the Black Carrot Cake ($3) which definitely live up to the numerous good reviews they have received. Unlike most stalls that took their carrot cake from mass production factory nowadays, this humble little stall at redhill food centre still steamed their own carrot cake.

The plate of black carrot cake came with different sizes that were evenly coated with the dark sweet sauce. The texture of the carrot cake was the softer type while the smaller pieces came with a nice crispy char to it. The dark sweet sauce was added to the cooking twice. Once in the mid of frying and right at the end. Maybe that is the secret to this delish dark carrot cake.

Overall I agreed with most reviews that Fu Ming Cooked Food's carrot cake is probably one of the best in Singapore. The homemade carrot cake already won my vote, not to mention that I can get to 2 different types of texture enjoyment in a single plate.
