Melbourne Trip March 2011

I was back again in Melbourne for another week of work. Dinner in Melbourne is a headache for me. Back in Singapore, I need not worry of what to eat everyday as I have home cooked dinner. I decided to check out Russell Street near my stay and ended up eating at Wanton House.

I had Beef Brisket with Wanton Noodle Soup. It was my first time encountering the combination of beef brisket and wanton. Since I love both, it was one stone hit two birds for me. The soup had a bit of herbal taste and it was pretty good. The beef brisket was soft and tender. The wanton was big and packed with fillings. Overall it was a good dish.

Crystal Jade Kitchen @ Holland Village

Dinner at Crystal Jade seldom goes wrong with its consistent food standard. The restaurant was offering  dinner set meals with different selection of 2 mains. I went for the set meal of roast duck and scallop. I ordered another vegetable dish to balance the dinner with some greens.

The roast duck was fat and pink. The sweetness of the plum sauce dip further highlights the duck meats and reduced the fattening taste of the duck meat.

Roast Duck 4.5/5

The Scallop was big, juicy and fresh. The vermicelli gave the dish a lift in texture and the sauce brought both the scallop and vermicelli together.

Scallop with vermicelli 4.5/5

The Spinach with 3 eggs was not only delightful in taste but sight. The egg flower on top of the spinach was simply appetizing just looking at it.
