Dessert Story @ Serangoon NEX

There are more and more dessert chains in Singapore. One of them is Dessert Story. Their dessert story dated back to 2006 from a humble stall in Hougang. They have expanded and went into franchise business with chains opening up at different corners of Singapore.

The original stores were known as “Anytime Food ” and the very first store was birthed on August 2006 at Hougang. It serves great tasting Traditional Chinese Dessert (or “Tong Shui” as it is known in Cantonese) and has built up a large base of loyal customers.(source from Dessert Story website)

I have yet to try their cold dessert but for the hot dessert they were quite good. I tried both the Yam Paste and Tang Yuan dessert. For the Yam Paste, it came with gingko nuts and pumpkin which balanced the sweetness.

Yam Paste with Gingko Nut and Pumpkin 4/5

For the Tang Yuan, I ordered both the sesame and peanut tang yuan with peanut soup. It was a triple enjoyment tasting all the 3 different flavours. I like the concept of using peanut soup with the tang yuan instead of just eating them plainly.

Azmi Restaurant @ Serangoon Road

I was asking my Pakistan colleague of any nice Indian restaurants at Little India the other day and the following day he brought me to this little old 80's coffeeshop in Little India at the junction of Serangoon Road and Norris Road. I suspect this place should be quite well known when I saw a Caucasian family eating at the coffeeshop. I googled and indeed this place was featured in some of the popular food blogs and travel sites.

I left the ordering to my colleague and I was in for another surprise. I have my first tried on sheep brain! It tasted like a plate of scrambled egg cooked in a lot of Indian spices. The shop's speciality Chapatis were freshly made and  very good eaten with the lamb keema, potatoes and cauliflower, sheep brain and lamb curry.

Chapatis 4.2/5

Potato and Cauliflower 4/5

Lamb Keema 4.2/5

Sheep Brain 4/5

Lamb Curry 4.2/5
