Curry Favour @ Stamford House

I think Curry Favour has been around for more than 5 years even when the days MPH was still at Stamford House. It has brought two first in my food experience. My first for Japanese curry and mushroom fry. Whenever I craved for the these two dishes, I would think of Curry Favour. It has been ages since I lasted visited Curry Favour so I suggested Curry Favour for our monthly kaki gathering.

We decided to order some appetizers while waiting for the rest of group to turn up. The mushroom fry was still very excellent, big and juicy. The cheese chikuwa was very good too.

I have the Rosu Katsu (pork loin) and Hire Katsu (pork fillet) combo with spicy curry. Unlike Indian curry, Japanese curry are on the sweet side so it was very enjoyable to eat with the rice. The katsu was also very good. Crispy on the outside and moist in the inside.

My friends ordered Cheese Katsu, Beef Curry (tenderloin beef) and Rosu Katsu & Fish Fry Combo were very good too. However the Slow Stewed Beef Brisket curry was a disappointment. The curry sauce was good but the beef was tasteless. My advice is to go for katsu if you want to try the Japanese curry here.

Daikokuya Ramen Dining @ Raffles City Shopping Centre

This is my first time eating at Daikokuya. The ramen restaurant serves four different types of ramen. It has the Sapporo ramen, Tokyo-style ramen, Kyushu-style Tonkotu  ramen and Kogashi ramen.

My friends and I started off with their Gyoza which were nicely pan fried with a bit of crispyness to the skin. Usually restaurant served black vinegar for the gyoza dip but it used white vinegar here. I have never tried white vinegar with gyoza before and I find that it tasted better.

I ordered the Kogashi Miso Ramen that has a dark creamy pork broth seasoned with blackish aromatic oil made from charred crushed garlic, served with thin and straight noodles in miso soup based. The noodles and soup were excellent and I basically emptied it

Kogashi Miso Ramen

My friends had the Kyushu-style Tonkotsu Miso Ramen and Tokyo-style Spicy Miso Ramen. The Kyushu-style Tonkotsu Miso Ramen had a thick creamy pork broth served with thin and straight noodles while the Tokyo-style Spicy Miso Ramen had a lighter chicken broth served with springy and curly noodles, with the chilli served separately. Both my friends enjoyed their ramen too.
