Polar High Street Cafe @ Changi Airport T1

I did some research online and realized that Polar has such a long history in Singapore. The existence of Polar dated back to 1926 and their very first outlet was located at 51 High Street. Accordingly to an article by Esther Wang of NLBS dated Mar 2009, Polar has over 130 distribution outlets including eat-in cafes, takeaway stores, and counters in ExxonMobil service stations all across the island. Polar now offers up to a variety of 100 different pastries and cakes.

Polar has recently opened an eat-in cafe at Changi Airport Terminal 1 departure hall near check in counter one. My all time favourite is still Polar's Sugar Roll and Curry Puff.

Mr Chicken Rice @ E!Hub Downtown East

Mr Chicken Rice is opened by the retrenched chef from Chatterbox at the Mandarin hotel. A big newspaper cutting of the chef  is displayed in the restaurant. It is self serving here. You placed your order with the cashier (the chef in the newspaper cutting), paid and collected your order. I ordered the 2 person combo meal that came with chicken, a selection of one the side dishes (vegetable in oyster sauce, bean sprouts or signature fried tofu) and two bowls of soup.

Being branded as the Chatterbox chicken rice, I was a bit disappointed as I find that the chicken was quite normal. I have eaten better ones eleswhere. The rice had a rich chicken and ginger flavour but the rice was too hard for my liking. Don't get me wrong, the chicken rice was good but maybe I was disappointed by my high expectation.
