Mr Chicken Rice @ E!Hub Downtown East

Mr Chicken Rice is opened by the retrenched chef from Chatterbox at the Mandarin hotel. A big newspaper cutting of the chef  is displayed in the restaurant. It is self serving here. You placed your order with the cashier (the chef in the newspaper cutting), paid and collected your order. I ordered the 2 person combo meal that came with chicken, a selection of one the side dishes (vegetable in oyster sauce, bean sprouts or signature fried tofu) and two bowls of soup.

Being branded as the Chatterbox chicken rice, I was a bit disappointed as I find that the chicken was quite normal. I have eaten better ones eleswhere. The rice had a rich chicken and ginger flavour but the rice was too hard for my liking. Don't get me wrong, the chicken rice was good but maybe I was disappointed by my high expectation.

Fuzhou Poh Hwa Oyster Cake @ Jalan Besar

I chanced upon this stall selling oyster cake while walking along Kitchener Road. It was a very rare find. Beside the popular Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake, I have not known of any other places that sell oyster cake until today. Inside the deep fried oyster cake, there was oyster, prawn, cabbage and minced meat.
