HighHouse @ One Raffles Place - Affordable New Set Lunch Menu Starting from $48++ Per Person, Available Till 15 June

Pasta 1

Restaurant 1

Perched on Level 62 of One Raffles Place, HighHouse offers a set lunch menu starting from $48++ per person for two courses. The new menu, crafted in collaboration with Chef Daniele Sperindio of Art di Daniele Sperindio, is available for a limited time until 15 June. With an impressive skyline view and a well-curated selection of hot and cold appetisers, mains, and desserts, HighHouse is the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch or a business meeting. We tried the three-course set ($58++ per person) to experience a little bit of everything – and it certainly delivered.

Sticky Mango Highball 1
Sticky Mango Highball 3.5/5

We started our lunch with a Sticky Mango Highball ($20) — we couldn't resist, especially with the tempting cocktail menu and that spectacular view. Made with Chalong Bay Thai Agricole, Mango Sticky Rice Cordial, and Bright Citrus, the alcohol level was generous. However, we found it lacking the distinct sticky mango element that the name promised.

Summer in Seoul 1

Summer in Seoul 2
Summer in Seoul 3.8/5

For appetisers, we chose one cold and one hot dish. The first is the cold appetiser: Summer in Seoul, which features chilled somen noodles, aged watermelon, and geranium leaf in a tomato broth. It was a refreshing start to the meal, and the geranium leaf reminded us of a pesto-like flavour, giving it a surprisingly Italian twist. The aged watermelon also added an interesting, almost meaty texture to the dish.

Saikyo Miso Foie Gras 1

Saikyo Miso Foie Gras 2
Saikyo Miso Foie Gras 4.5/5

Our hot appetiser was the Saikyo Miso Foie Gras, which was the highlight of the meal. The sweet corn velouté was creamy without being cloying, while the crispy Sichuan corn and pork pancetta added delightful texture and flavour. The foie gras itself, marinated in miso, was elevated beautifully, enhancing its rich flavour without overpowering the dish. We couldn't get enough of this one.

Pork Belly 1

Pork Belly 3
12-Hour Slow Cooked Sakura Pork Belly 3.8/5

Moving on to mains, we had the 12-Hour Slow Cooked Sakura Pork Belly. It came with a strong char flavour and was paired with a coffee balsamic sauce that leaned quite sweet. It reminded us of Hong Kong-style char siew, though we wished the pork belly could have been a touch more tender and the sauce slightly less sweet. On the side, there are Brussels sprouts, brown butter carrot sauce (very delicious) and a crispy piece of coconut sticky rice, which we found the rice a little too hard for our liking.

Pasta 3
Spanish Octopus Reginette Pasta 3.8/5

The other main was the Spanish Octopus Reginette Pasta, featuring fork-tender chunks of octopus tossed in a lobster bisque reduction. The addition of kimchi added a nice crunch from the cabbage, but overall, the dish leaned on the salty side, possibly due to the furikake topping. A little less salt would have made this dish perfect.

Matcha Gateau 1
Matcha Gateau 4/5

Coconut & Cashew Tart 1
Coconut & Cashew Tart 4.2/5

For dessert, we went with the recommended Matcha Gateau and Coconut & Cashew Tart. The Matcha Gateau was delightful: a soft Sencha Jaconde Sponge layered with a high-quality Matcha Ganache. The pairing with Grapefruit Compote added a refreshing citrus kick that balanced the richness nicely.

However, the Coconut & Cashew Tart truly stole the show. Its buttery tart shell was filled with Almond Cream, topped with a Sea Salt Cashew Mousseline, and paired with roasty Barley Tea Ice Cream. This was easily our top pick for dessert.

Restaurant 3

Whether you're looking to impress clients or simply enjoy a relaxed meal with breathtaking views, HighHouse ticks all the boxes. This limited-time lunch menu, thoughtfully crafted with Chef Daniele Sperindio, is available until 15 June — making it the perfect reason to plan a visit soon. With its beautiful setting and well-executed dishes, HighHouse promises an elevated and memorable dining experience. Be sure to reserve early if you want one of the coveted window seats.

En Yeoh's Bak Kut Teh (宴杨肉骨茶) @ VivoCity - Klang Style Bak Kut Teh with 30 Years of Expertise

EnYeohBakKutTeh-11

Klang-style Bak Kut Teh lovers can now enjoy a taste of Malaysia's beloved herbal pork bone soup right here in Singapore at En Yeoh's Bak Kut Teh (宴杨肉骨茶) at VivoCity. This new dining spot is a collaboration between EN Group and Yeoh's Bak Kut Teh, a well-established name with over 30 years of expertise crafting the perfect herbal broth.

EnYeohBakKutTeh-5

EnYeohBakKutTeh-14
Signature 4 Types Assorted Claypot Bak Kut Teh 4.2/5

For a traditional take on Klang-style Bak Kut Teh, I opted for the Signature 4 Types Assorted Claypot Bak Kut Teh ($10.90/$18.90). The rich, slow-simmered herbal broth is made with over 15 premium herbs and ingredients, striking a well-balanced and subtly fragrant profile without an overly strong medicinal finish.

The claypot comes generously packed with pork trotter, pork ribs, pork belly, Hokkaido pork collar, shiitake mushrooms, button mushrooms, tofu puffs, and fried beancurd. Each cut of pork was tender and well-infused with the broth, making every bite satisfying. The variety of textures from the pork, mushrooms, and tofu puffs added depth to the dish. I particularly liked that the broth was not too overpowering or tangy, making it enjoyable for those who prefer a more balanced, less intense herbal flavour.

EnYeohBakKutTeh-23

EnYeohBakKutTeh-25
Soumen 3.5/5

Instead of the usual steamed white rice, I decided to try the Soumen ($3.20) as an alternative carb pairing. While the silky soft noodles were smooth and pleasant to slurp, I found the portion quite small for the price. Given its light texture, it didn't quite absorb the broth as well as rice would have, making it a less satisfying pairing compared to the usual rice option.

EnYeohBakKutTeh-18
Claypot Dry Pork Belly 4.5/5

One of the standout dishes of the meal was the Claypot Dry Pork Belly ($12.90). Unlike the soupy version, this dish features thick-cut, chunky pork belly pieces coated in a sweet, savoury, and slightly spicy sauce.

The claypot also includes ladyfinger, sliced cuttlefish, dried chilli, and green chilli, which add layers of spice, umami, and fragrance. I particularly liked the addition of cuttlefish, which contributed a subtle seafood aroma and extra umami punch, making the dish even more enjoyable. The pork belly was fatty yet meaty, offering a satisfying chew that complemented the flavourful glaze.

EnYeohBakKutTeh-28

En Yeoh’s Bak Kut Teh is a solid choice for those craving authentic Klang-style Bak Kut Teh in Singapore. The herbal broth is well-executed, striking a balanced and comforting flavour profile without being overly strong or medicinal. While the Soumen may not be the best choice for pairing, the Claypot Dry Pork Belly is a must-try for its bold flavours and satisfying textures. If you're looking for a heartwarming and authentic Bak Kut Teh experience, En Yeoh’s Bak Kut Teh at VivoCity is definitely worth a visit.

Shabu Shabu Sumire An @ 100AM Mall - All You Can Eat Shabu Shabu

Display table 1

Located next door to Yakiniku Gyubei is Royal Shoji's second concept, Shabu Shabu Sumire An, which brings us the beloved Japanese hotpot experience. Shabu Shabu Sumire An also offers a highly competitive lunch deal, allowing guests to choose from options like Pork Belly, US Beef Chuck Roll, US Strip Loin, or Wagyu Beef Chuck Eye Roll. In addition to 1 serving of main protein, diners can enjoy unlimited servings of rice, noodles, vegetables, and desserts — all within a 60-minute time limit. This all-you-can-eat experience is a great option for those looking to indulge in a hearty lunch.

Hokkaido pork 2

During our visit, we also tasted the Hokkaido Silky Pork Belly featured on their dinner menu. The pork had a remarkably clean taste that I thoroughly enjoyed. The chef thoughtfully paired it with Konbu Dashi to allow us to fully appreciate the high quality of the pork. While the pork was undeniably excellent, I found the Konbu Dashi too light for my preferences.

Raw pork1

Not to worry though, guests can choose their preferred two soups from a selection of six options - Signature Black Sesame-based Spicy Soup, Kombu Dashi, Spicy Miso Dashi, Soy Milk Dashi, Chicken Broth Dashi, and Tomato Dashi.

Veg counter

The vegetable counter offers a wide selection of vegetables to cook in your hotpot, including my favourite- pumpkin!

Somen plate

Somen cooking1

There were also somen noodles paired with a hot dipping sauce, which was a nice touch. I recommend adding some yuzu kosho and spring onions into the sauce for a refreshing citrusy kick.

Fruit

To end, there is also a dessert counter with a small selection of fresh-cut fruits and some ice creams.

Cooked pork1

Whenever you're in the mood for Japanese hotpot, Shabu Shabu Sumire An is a good option for those seeking comforting, quality Japanese dining experiences at accessible price point.

Racines @ Sofitel Singapore City Centre - Feasts Of Fortune to Usher in Year of the Snake

RacinesCNY25-11

This Lunar New Year, Sofitel Singapore City Centre celebrates the season of prosperity and reunion with thoughtfully curated culinary experiences, blending traditional flavours with modern touches. Over at Racines, the Fortune Set Lunches and Dinners curated are 4-course set lunch and 5-course set dinner, perfect for gatherings with loved ones or even business lunches.

RacinesCNY25-4
Bountiful 8-Grain Yu Sheng (Tasting portion) 4/5

Begin the feast with an auspicious toss of Yu Sheng. The Bountiful 8-Grain Yu Sheng (Vegetarian) ($48/$88/$138), a new creation for the season, symbolizes an abundant harvest. Designed with health-conscious diners in mind, it features a wholesome mix of grains and seeds, including black-eyed beans, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, and millet, offering delightful textures.

RacinesCNY25-6
Double-boiled Chicken Soup 5/5

The next course, a Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Dried Scallop and Cordycep Blossoms, impressed with its comforting sweetness and deep flavours, making it a crowd favourite.

RacinesCNY25-10

RacinesCNY25-12
Pen Cai 4.5/5

Another quintessential dish, Chef Andrew's Pen Cai, combines an opulent array of ingredients, such as abalone, scallops, prawns, pork belly, duck, pork tendon, fish maw, braised sea cucumber, fatt choy, and truffle. The sauce had a nice, savoury depth of flavour without being overly rich.

RacinesCNY25-17
Deep-fried Tiger Prawn in Curry Garlic Aioli 3/5

The Deep-fried Tiger Prawn in Curry Garlic Aioli added a modern flair to the menu. While the batter was slightly greasy, the prawn itself was succulent, with a satisfying texture.

RacinesCNY25-19
Hakka-style Pork Belly with Taro 4.5/5

The Hakka-style Pork Belly with Taro, a nostalgic recipe passed down in Chef Andrew's family since the 1970s, exuded a sense of homely comfort. Its richness was best enjoyed with a warm bowl of white rice.

RacinesCNY25-21
Cod Fish with Yuzu Butter Sauce 4/5

Another dish that offered a contemporary twist to a Lunar New Year staple was the Cod Fish with Yuzu Butter Sauce. The fish was perfectly moist and flaky, while the yuzu butter sauce added a delightful balance of richness and citrusy brightness.

RacinesCNY25-27
Hor Yip Fan 5/5

The highlight was the most aesthetically pleasing Hor Yip Fan (Steamed Waxed Meat Rice and Chinese Sausage in Lotus Leaf). This classic, traditionally made with glutinous rice, was reimagined with a lighter blend of fragrant rice and glutinous rice. Steamed with three waxed meats — pork, pork belly, and liver — for two hours, the dish was flavourful, texturally delightful, and certainly moreish!

RacinesCNY25-30
Duo of Osmanthus Jelly with Bergamot Sorbet & Fried Nian Gao 3.5/5

Dessert was a Duo of Osmanthus Jelly with Bergamot Sorbet & Fried Nian Gao, delivering a delightful hot-and-cold contrast. While the crust of the Nian Gao was slightly thicker than expected, its chewy, sweet interior was satisfying. The refreshing bergamot sorbet rounded off the dessert beautifully. Osmanthus Jelly with Bergamot Sorbet

Kushi Japanese Dining @ Grantral Mall & Complex MacPherson - Offering Budget-Friendly A La Carte Japanese Buffet

Group

Kushi Japanese Dining has been a fixture in Singapore for the past 16 years, having moved locations a few times before settling into its current spot at Grantral Mall, MacPherson. Offering a budget-friendly à la carte buffet, Kushi boasts an extensive selection of Japanese dishes that satisfy all your cravings.

Sashimi Platter 1
Assorted Sashimi Platter 4/5

We began our buffet experience with the Assorted Sashimi Platter, which included maguro, sake, shiro maguro, tako, ika, meikajiki, and hamachi (limited to one serving per table). The sashimi was impeccably fresh, with the shiro maguro standing out as a rare find at many Japanese restaurants.

Pitan Tofu 1
Pitan Tofu 3.5/5

Chawanmushi 1
Chawanmushi 3.5/5

We also enjoyed the Chawanmushi, which was subtly flavourful, and the must-try Pitan Tofu, a unique and creamy dish that offered a different take on tofu.

Agedashi Tofu 1
Agedashi Tofu 4/5

Tako Yaki 1
Tako Yaki 3/5

Asari Miso Soup 1
Asari Miso Soup 4/5

Moving on to the hot dishes, we sampled the perfectly fried Agedashi Tofu, which was crispy on the outside and tender within. It's a dish we could quickly devour on our own. The Tako Yaki was decent but could be skipped if you're looking to save room for more sashimi. The Asari Miso Soup, with its plump and fresh clams, served as a refreshing palate cleanser, preparing us for the next round of food.

Kushiyaki Platter 1
Assorted Kushiyaki 3.8/5

Saba Shoyaki
Saba Shoyaki 4/5

Pork Belly Shogayaki 1
Pork Belly Shogayaki 3/5

Surume Ika 1
Surume Ika 4/5

Next, we tried an assortment of Kushiyaki, as recommended by our server. Each skewer was perfectly grilled, but our favourites were the Saba Shoyaki and Surume Ika. The saba was generously portioned, lightly salted, and deliciously flaky, while the grilled squid had a pleasantly charred flavour and was only available in limited servings. The Pork Belly Shogayaki was tasty, but we wished we had room to enjoy it with rice.

Tempura Platter 1
Assorted Tempura Platter 4/5

For Tempura, the Ebi stood out with its light, crispy batter, and the prawn itself was fresh and sweet.

Kitsune Soba 1
Kitsune Soba 3/5

Garlic Fried Rice 1
Garlic Fried Rice 3/5

Kushi offers options like Garlic Fried Rice, Kitsune Soba, and Mini Ramen if you need carbs. While they were decent, they didn't leave a lasting impression.

Shabu Shabu Pork 1
Shabu Shabu Pork 4/5

However, the Shabu Shabu Pork was a pleasant surprise. The broth was clean and sweet, likely from the vegetables, and perfectly contrasted with the heavier grilled and fried dishes we had been enjoying. This hotpot dish is a must-try if you want something to cut through the greasiness and refresh your palate.

Wafu Beef Steak 2
Wafu Beef Steak 3.5/5

For those looking for more beyond the buffet, Kushi offers a 25% discount on selected à la carte dishes. We decided to try the Wafu Beef Steak. You can request your preferred doneness, and the flavourful wafu sauce enhances the tender steak.

Interior 1

Priced at $54.90++ for lunch and $58.90++ for dinner, Kushi's buffet is exceptional value for money, offering a wide variety of quality Japanese dishes. The restaurant is clean, brightly lit, and nicely decorated, providing a comfortable dining environment.

Interior 2

For those planning a special gathering, Kushi also offers two private dining rooms, each accommodating up to 10 people, or 20 if combined, with a minimum spend required. Whether you're a fan of sashimi, grilled items, or hotpot, Kushi Japanese Dining will surely satisfy you.
